After a long time of happyness I got careless and did an apt-get upgrade on one of the OrangePiPcPlus, and I my Eizo FlexScan S1921 Monitor does not sync anymore. I need a Resolution of 1280*1024 at 60 Hz with a pll_video of 432 Mhz. I tried to reselect -m33 on h3disp but this did not change anything. Is h3disp even supported anymore? Have there been changes to the legacy kernel or the way resolution is selected? Hi there, System: root@OPiPC2-Main:~# uname -a Linux OPiPC2-Main 4.14.18-sunxi64 #26 SMP Fri Feb 9 17:14:48 CET 2018 aarch64 GNU/Linux System diagnosis information will now be uploaded to http://ix.io/18C3 I use different Orange Pi's for monitoring with mjpg_streamer and Kerberosio. It works like a charm with Legacy Kernel (Orange Pi Zero+2, Nanopi Air and other H3 devices), but with Mainline Kernel I always have problems. The USB port to which I connect my webcam, is disconnected again and again after some time. I have also changed the type of webcam without success. In messages I only found: Apr 23 2…

I originally installed Armbian_5.38_Orangepizeroplus_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.14.14 I got NTP with PPS up and running on UART2 with PPS on PA3 I have a working backup image of this. I then used armbian-config to boot from USB disk and I installed a LAMP stack and battled to get a DB up and running. My mistake was upgrading the kernel before making a backup. My version is now ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS 4.14.48-sunxi64 NTP and PPS no longer work. Is there a way to downgrade the kernel without having to go back to the backup and battle with the DB config again? I'm a Linux newb so please make allowances for my ignorance. I have searched for sev…

Hi folks Im facing with strange behavior of my cubie a20 Im booting it from sdcard since mainline armbian not support emmc (as far i know), but it boot from sdcard only when FEL button is pressed. Without FEL pressed it boot into android from emmc. In documentation i read if sdcard is present cubieboard tries boot from it which is legit. This behavior sucks when power loss occurs. My home-made router with some other stuff is offline and all other is offline. I expect to always boot from sdcard or emmc if i flash it with latest armbian. Please help if you can

Hi all, Today I decided to pull my OPi Zero H3 out of its box and fire it up. Downloaded and installed Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y to a SanDisk micro sdcard grade 10 and powered it up with a known good 5v 3a power supply I've used to power my OPi Zero's via GPIO (with all my Zero's I've soldered in GPIO headers - something I'm used to doing with RC helicopter and multirotor flight controllers). Connected my USB hub with keyboard and mouse connected. Disconnected my OPi One (RetrOrangePi gaming computer) from its HDMI connection and connected it to my Zero H3 and powered it up. Boot text is on display nice and clear. Then the …

Hi, I just downloaded this image from here (this is the link i copied from the bananapipro site): https://dl.armbian.com/bananapipro/Debian_stretch_next.7z and i got Armbian_5.38_Bananapipro_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.7z on my disk. Unpacked it and put it on my sdcard with etcher. Tried to mount it as loop device --> error. Checked with gparted --> it said /dev/sdc1 is not ok. Repaired it with gparted and could mount it. Put it with etcher on the card. --> Bananpipro does not boot. Red light is the only one that shows up, none of the other led is blinking. What can i do? best regards Ralf

Hi all! Has anyone some experience with dts overlays for the mainline kernel 4.14.47? I connected the SHT11 temperature sensor to PA7 and PA8, installed the sht1x.dts overlay from https://github.com/armbian/sunxi-DT-overlays/blob/master/examples/sht1x.dts via "sudo armbian-add-overlay sht15.dts" and afterwards looked via dmesg into the kernel output. That's what my OPLite reports: It is a kernel IO error. The LogicAnalyzer doesn't record any pin toggle. But what am I doing wrong? Do I have to deactivate the pins in GPIO driver? Can someone please help me? As I soldered the SHT11 by myself I modified some RPi userspace code to v…

Hi, I have some issues regarding the Orange Pi becoming non responsive and only accessible. When I look at the log, i just see an sudden stop of writing to the logfile. And this line: [mmc]: sdc2 set ios: clk 50000000Hz bm PP pm ON vdd 3.3V width 8 timing UHS-DDR50 dt B Is the mmc failing? I currently have 80 orange pi's installed. 20 of them have this issue. Is this an PSU problem? Some external persons said that they had an problem with installing two Orange Pi's on the same electricty net. But was not confirmed by me. I've added an logfile logfile.txt

Hi, now that I have Docker up and running, I am facing new problems. After some time, the Zero stops working. I am connected with ssh, and the console is stuck. The port 22 seems to be still opened for nmap, but I can't open a new ssh session anymore. I was trying to monitor it with armbianmonitor -m, and I saw the processor throttling with the temperature rising. Up to 62°C, it stays at 1200MHz, then it goes down to 960MHz, and I saw it once at 480 around 72°C. As I thought that my problems were linked to the heat, I then used a fan and the temperatures stayed at max around 63°C and the CPU at 1200MHz. But the problem still happens. Af…

Hi everyone. I got a Orange Pi Prime (OPi Prime). It works ok with "official" debian and ubuntu images from Xulong (xulong web site). When I try to use Armbian 5.33 stable, I got some text into HDMI screen until the words "loading kernel", then nothing is shown on monitor; but through TTL port I can login as root. That behaviour is repeated wheter using Ubuntu (desktop or server), Debian (desktop or server). With Legacy kernel (3.x) the same card worked in the past, but the image is not available anymore. I'm attaching the output from TTL console: Spoiler CPU: Allwinner H5 (SUN50I) Model: OrangePi Prime…

Hi, I'm very happy to have my OrangePi Zero working (at last!) with Armbian. I've experienced some issue on my OPI PC running 4.14 kernel - it disconnects eth after some hours of running. It's very annoying for me because I'm running Home Assistant automations on it and it's located in remote location (not in my home), so I have to drive 50 km to reset/reconnect it manually First I thought OPI just froze somehow (kernel panic or so). But later I've set up heartbeat trigger on red led and it's blinking, so OPI just disconnects from eth. When I unplugged cable for a minute and plugged it in back, networking was restored and I could reach via ssh. I'd like to make some workaround for now and the simplest thing seems to be write a script and pu…

I am trying to switch legacy kernel to "next". I did it successfully with armbian-config for OrangePiPC (obviously Armbian was installed on SD card). Once I attempted to do the same with Orange Pi Plus and system installed onto internal EMMC then after reboot... nothing. I have connected TTL2USB and following is the result (seems to be indefinite loop): U-Boot SPL 2017.11-armbian (Jan 25 2018 - 07:58:02) DRAM: 2048 MiB Trying to boot from MMC2 U-Boot 2017.11-armbian (Jan 25 2018 - 07:58:02 +0100) Allwinner Technology CPU: Allwinner H3 (SUN8I …

Let's say I'm deploying hundreds of warehoused devices employing an H5-based Orange Pi Zero Plus, and I need a reliable distinct identifier for each. In another application we're using the MAC address, but that seems not to be EEPROM-ed on the OPiZ+. So, okay, SOC Unique ID has been mentioned elsewhere (MAC generation on the OPiZ+), but where is it available? cat /proc/cpuinfo does not include "Serial". lshw has a "serial" but I'm not sure that's reliable (I've got a Beaglebone that doesn't show one - and it says /proc/cpuinfo Serial: 00000000). So what's a good low-cost (i.e. not by launching Perl scripts) way to obtain the unique CPU identifie…

Hello, sorry but my english is not best. I tried to search forum for these problems, but I do not found the answers First problem is that serial console do not work for me, just random symbols, I already tried 3 USB to RS converters with 3.3 V logic, hercules_3-2-8 and putty as SW, with multiple setting, mostly 115200, 8 data bits, no handshake, no parity. Second problem the HDMI do not show useful data either, at least for me there was nothing I can understand as problem. I have 2 orange Pi lite available, so it is probably not a board problem, I tried 2 SD cards and multiple images (desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y and mainline kernel 4.14.y …

Hello, and thank you for your great work on Armbian. I have a BananaPi running on Armbian 5.38 Debian Stretch, downgraded to 5.31 due to freezing problems. i would love to use a 5" 800x480 HDMI connected "china"-Display with the BananaPi. Some time before I installed iobroker on my cubietruck and since that the system crashes every now and then. Two times iobroker was not able to start anymore after a crash. After googling I found out that maybe my SD card is the problem and so I bought a SSD. Now I found out that I don't have to reinstall the system. I can simply transfer all data from SD to SSD by using nand-sata-install. Everything worked fine. System reboots. But only the SSD partition was formated and all data was transfered. The boot information was not changed. Because I have no idea about unix boot configuration I better keep my hand…

Hello folks, Been working on making I2S dacs work on the Orange Pi Zero, after reading on a few pages i got crazy and almost gave up and then i did some playaround and managed to make it work! And this is how i did! I am using examples from the topic here, as it was well written until i had to figure things out myself because of that stupid wifi_enable on PA20 which also is the data out on the OPI zero Thread: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/759-i2s-on-orange-pi-h3/ First up it requires a bit of soldering, removing the R69 and adding a small wire is required to access the DIN(data in) or so called PA20. What i did was just simply adding a header so i can …

Hello, There are two physical USB port on the pi zero+ board : one is USB 2.0 host and the the second one is USB 2.0 OTG through a micro USB connector. As I power the card through the expansion pin I would like to turn the micro USB to a regular mode to connect a DVB dongle. With Armbian 5.38 and Kernel 4.14.14 (and also nightly build) I've done the following modification - in armbian-config enable usbhost0 - modify the /boot/dtb/allwiner/sun50i-h5-orangepi-zero-plus.dtb => decompile the file with dtc => edit the dts file and change the line dr_mode = "peripheral" to "host" => recompile the file and reb…

The rtl8189etv wifi module on the orange pi r1 is not integrated into the main PCB. From photos on the web there seem to be such wifi modules with little pins which maybe can just be plugged in like some kind of hat but there are also versions without pins. Does anyone know if the wifi module on the opi r1 can be just unplugged or do the pins need to be cut or desoldered? Are there any issues to expect when removing the module. Wifi won't work obviously, but anything beyond that ?

I got the mali stuff working on my H3 on my orange pi one to great success for use with the HTC Vive, but I'm trying to get it working on my H5 on my Orange Pi Zero Plus 2. I can't seem to get any work done as far as installing the mali modules/etc since I can't find the mali node in any of the dtb's. Also, because I am trying to use the normal armbian system, instead of installing my own sunxi-next kernel. I've switched to nightly, but can't figure out how to edit my own changes to the dts's that are built to add add the extra mali node (not that I have any idea where the mali450 is on the H5!). Hello everyone, I was running Armbian Xenial (mainline 4.11.8 kernel) on Win Plus and it was working pretty good (after a little fix). But after some bad configurations (the system was still working..), I decided to re-install the whole system. So I decided to build the system but I have some issues that makes the board pretty useless. The first is that there is no more Ethernet, no blinking light on the board neither on the switch... The second are the USB port : The two USB ports on the right of th…

Hello, everyone. I searched long time to run cocos2d on Armbian_5.38_Orangepizeroplus2-h3_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop. Now it run but very slow because device is orange pi zero plus 2 (mini com like arm). when build project, it automatically works for desktop with opengl. We already compile & run new cocos2d-x-3.15.1 cpp project on Armbian. FPS is 30. If we make this project work on opengles, fps will rise. Have you got issue? I guess if i change this to opengl es then speed will be ok. Because on Android on same device, apk's fps is 60. Please help me.

Hi i did some comparison of NanoPi NEO Kernel 3.4 (Jessie) and kernel 4.4 (Stretch). - Looks like the temperature limit controlling of 4.4 is not working as good as 3.4 (on 4.4 Kernel the CPU reaches more than 85 °C!) - GPIO (wiringPi) has less performance (-4%) - SPI has better performance (10%) - CPU performance is ~6% better (nbench, maybe the newer compiler) - consumption is besser on Kernel 3.4, especially on halt state I did a fork for wiringpi Library to make it work on Armbian Jessie and Stretch https://github.com/mstroh76/WiringNP (so far only for NEO)

Hello, I'm having problems with USB sound card - speaker - card reader combo, named CD002 (hardware ID e2b0:0811). Hello, My BananaPi board doesn't boot after apt update & apt upgrade. I didn't have any problems until now. At first I suspected it could be the SD card as it seemed to me the "server" was slower on authentication but the SD card looks ok. There were some errors when reading it via gdisk but f3 didn't find any problems. So I copied the newest downloadable image onto it. It worked again until the upgrade. What can I do to restore the functionality? Is there any known problem with last upgrade?I update the system quite usually so the change that could be responsible for this shouldn't be more than a month old. I even tried to use the direct attach…

Hi, I have a problem to comunicate with sim800l via UART3 or any other UART. Is there way to activate UART3 on Linux PiOne 4.14.18-sunxi kernel if it is not already activated. I could find DTB files but I do not know how to view them or transfer to DTS and read/modify them to se if there could be a problem. I'm using pins 8 and 10 for UART3 on 40Pin header and try to comunicate with putty and screen over /dev/ttyS3 but no luck. Any idea what is going on? Sim800L works fine over pl2303.

After along time I downloaded a new armbian image, after doing apt update/upgrade for the last year or so. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Udi

Hello! I recently bought a generic Waveshare 800x480 HDMI (B) USB Touchscreen (rev 3.0), and I'm having problems to make it work properly on Armbian. After a long research, I ended up realizing it's a common problem, and yet I haven't been able to find a solution. It seems there was a patch somewhere, but that link is not available anymore. Hello, my orange pi pc has recently started to have reduced speeds. Where I used to get the full 100Mbit on lan, I now get around 30Mbit, be it sftp, samba, http. Speed flanctuates a bit but stays around the 30MBit so no big differences. I am able to write with consistent speeds of over 10MB/s on the microsd so that can't be the problem (using dd) and full ~30MB/s on the attached sata disk. uname -a Linux orangepipc 3.4.113-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT Thu Feb 23 19:55:00 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux Any ideas what I can check?

I must have missed the discussion about not having a desktop version for this board. Does anybody know why this option is not available? Now that I finally have the Bluetooth working, I can use it as a proper desktop. I have "simulated" a desktop build by following the Armbian build script... installing all the packages for xfce4, but it lacks some functionality (namely the notification icons). It would be really nice to have a proper Armbian desktop on this board. Thanks.

Things downloaded last week, When switching to alternative kernel is executed in Armbian Config, the screen set to 1280 x 1024 has been changed to 1280 x 720 and it was not able to be rewritten, so do not run the Switch to Alternative kernel and keep the 1280 x 1024 screen It is GQRX-SDR, since error-6 (even if blacklist maintenance is done) comes out, As a workaround, I ran Switch to the alternative kernel and avoided error-6. (I give up on screen 1280 x 720) But today, when downloading and installing the same software, the screen shows 1280 x 1024 It was able to be maintained. Sorry to make software, it is truly a hard work. But the object of today (201…

Hello everybody! I would like to make a home media server with my HDD connected to Banana Pi (on SATA). I want to run Torrent client with WebUI, dlna and VPN server thereon. I`m stucked with fstab file configuration. First I tried to format my HDD`s partition to NTFS, every permission was good, but Transmission download, and FSTP file download was incredibly slow (4MB/s, but I have gigabit internet connection). The fstab configuration was this: UUID=<the uuid of the ntfs partition> /mnt/DataHDD ntfs defaults,auto,umask=000,users,rw 0 0 I`ve readed that, ext4 filesystem can be faster, so I decided to format the partition to ext4. After that, I changed…

When 40pin female-female cable connected to my Orange Pi Plus 2 GPIO voltage on pin1 decreasing from 3.3v to ~ 1.6v WAIDW? Spoiler

I have a NanoPi Neo Air (Allwinner H3 SoC) with onboard wifi and a serial interface. Unfortunately during some late hour hacking I managed to accidentally connect 5V onto its TX pin, I think effectively screwing up its UART0. I can no longer connect to it via a USB to TTL Serial cable. Looking at the NeoPi Nano Air's pinout diagram, it seems to have more UART devices (UART1 and UART2 even) so I wonder whether there's a way to set up armbian to communicate via these during boot? Another idea I had was to try to bypass the UART completely and to hook up the board via the wifi. Now, without having any access to a serial console, I need to …

I am having some difficulty producing audio on an orangepi zero using the images listed here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero/ No matter what I do, I cannot get any audio devices to show up in /proc/asound/cards There are a number of posts on here that suggest that audio doesn't work on version 4.x kernels. Is this still the case? And if so, where can I download an armbian image that does support audio?

My Orange Pi PC running Armbian gets disconnected from both SSH and VNC after maybe 20 minutes or so out of nowhere, no matter if idle or doing anything. I can't connect back until I restart the entire SBC by keyboard. The pi is useless to me if I can't run it "headless". I'm wondering if it's a MAC problem. I have a pfSense router I built myself and have had different subnet addresses. I've made sure the MAC address isn't repeated on another subnet address, though. I know the Raspberry Pi has a way to change it, but does the OPi PC as well? The MAC "problem" is just a guess, though. I really don't know what's with the disconnection issues. I'm no …

Hello friends, I found these cameras for Orange Pi: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Orange-Pi-Open-source-IP-Camera-with-wide-angle-lens-Smart-Home-Control-Device-for-PC/32652476606.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2MP-Camera-module-for-Orange-Pi-PC-Zero-One-PC-Plus-Plus2-Plus2e-Zero-Plus-2/32833966539.html Can it work directly with Orange Pi Zero Plus2-h3? Or is there any difference with h5? Do you know how many fps with which resolution does this camera have? Thanks.

Hi, Good people of Armbian-land! First of all, thank you all for the awesome work you've been putting into Armbian. I recently purchased an Orange Pi PC, for which I'd like to use the Ubuntu desktop image, since I need the HW acceleration features. I tried using Mainline briefly but after confirming that the performance is just not there without the Mali drivers (as suggested by the description, so no surprise there), it seems Legacy is my only viable option. Which would be fine, but the monitor I'd like to use with my setup doesn't work with legacy (it works fine in Mainline). Also a sidenote: I connected the monitor using an HDMI-VGA converter. I set th…

HI All, I am trying to install the driver for Dlink (DWA 131 - Rev E1) wifi (usb dongle ) on my Olimex A20 borad (with Armbian ubuntu - legecy kernel 3.4.113-sun7i ) . folllowing this procedure 1. I downloaded the Offical D-Link Driver here 2- install the kernel header files : - sudo apt-get install linux-headers-sun7i - cd /usr/src/linux-headers-3.4.113-sun7i/ - make scripts 3 -make ARCH=arm // this make is for driver compiling but I got a bunch of errors like : /usr/src/linux-headers-3.4.113-sun7i/rtl8192cu-fixes/core/rtw_security.o: In function `is_multicast_mac_addr': rtw_security.c:(.text+0x1f94): multiple defi…

[BANANA PI PRO - SO running on SD] So, on every system upgrade I do, I end up with something broken. Normally it won't boot because of some kernel misconfiguration or due the encrypted HDD that I use connected to it. On the last upgrade the same occurred. However, normally, I can solve stuff by myself. This time I couldn't fix everything (yet). I think that the only solution would be me compiling the kernel myself. First the system wouldn't boot. After a few kernel replacements, I could make it boot, kind of. If I have my encrypted LUKS HDD connected to it, it will boot to some degree and hang in there forever. If I take it …
