Greetings all. I've bought an Orange Pi PC recently, along with this screen, and I wanted to make the touch screen work on it. I have tried following this tutorial and this one, but so far I was only able to get the screen working. Currently installed image is: Armbian_5.35_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_default_3.4.113. When I run `evtest` the only devices detected are `vmouse`, `sunxi-gpiokey` and `sunxi-ths`. I tried installing a GUI with xorg, lightdm and xfce. To show the GUI on the display I am using the following command: FRAMEBUFFER=/dev/fb8 startx But touch still isn't working. This is the output of armb…

Hi, I am developing application that will show graphics in console mode using frame buffer access in system with Orange Pi PC board. Several Debian images I tried until now from Orange Pi downloads always set up 32bpp frame buffer. Calling 'fbset -depth 16' causes screen corruption. Changing script.bin setting (fb0_format = 5) did no change. Any suggestion?

Hi there, I am new here, and new to Armbian I have a Orange Pi Plus2 and I am trying to make a project to present Spotify as an iPod over USB, so that it can be used in vehicles / docks that support iPod connectivity via USB Some of this work has already been done here on the iPod USB gadget driver side https://github.com/oandrew/ipod-gadget Using the standard premade armbian builds I cannot compile the source code as the headers are missing. Therefore I compiled Armbian from source using INSTALL-HEADERS=yes, mainline Jessie. As there is no option for the Orange Pi Plus2 board, I used the Orange Pi plus config instead. …

Hi. I'm using CubieTruck and Armbian mainline up to dated version. The CT is a headless server, so I don't connect any cable to it. However, one day the ssh server in CT did not work, I tried to connect CT to a monitor using HDMI cable. Even though I connect a cable, I could not see anything, and the monitor said 'No signal'. (Well, if the hdmi cable was connected, and CT is booted with it, the output is ok with hdmi signal.) If I connect with a vga cable, there is no problem. Here's what I want. I want to see the screen when I connect CT with a hdmi cable, even if the cable has not been connected. (I hope you understand what I mean..) I followed thi…

Hi there, I want to build my product on Orange Pi Zero Plus2. I want to put it to enclosure and leave just power connector accessible. But I found this scenario - if user makes mistake in his wifi settings and then he saves these "faulty wifi settings", he will not be able to recover default wifi values anymore. How would you solve this? (the best approach without any additional buttons for gpio pins or additional elements)

I was able to upgrade Armbian to 18.04 bionic beaver on my Banana Pi M1, and it's working (almost) fine! I used the command to update the sources.list to bionic: apt update && apt dist-upgrade -y && apt autoremove -y && apt autoclean apt install update-manager-core do-release-upgrade -d Fetched 403 MB in 8min 43s (769 kB/s) I gave "yes to all" to almost everything, except on replacing config files like KEYMAP, sshd and bind All these services I use are working correctly: network, SSH, bind, mail, cups, minidlna, SATA, USB printer, Samba This is not working: qbittorrent-nox 4.0.4 (misses libboost-s…

Sometimes it's unclear if my Nanopi NEO2 is still running, or fully locked up / FUBAR. Ping and SSH give no result. As there is no HDMI, I have no way to check if it's still there. So I was thinking: can I let the green LED flash each x seconds as a sign of life? Quote from Igor: "Both are accessible via sysfs, green is configurable while blue is not lit and reacting to anything. ". So a crontab script that writes something to /sys/ <LED> ... ? Feedback appreciated.

Hi Im seeking for a kernel that i can trust it does not hang. Using the old 3.4 kernel on bananian I could get my banana pi m1 more than 6 months without hangs and reboot. Now im been playing with the armbian and 4.x kernels for almost an year, and the banana pi hardly got 2 months without hangs and reboot. Could you be kind to tell me what is the kernel version with longest uptime with armbian on a banana pi? Sergio

I would like to test or reinstall my nanopi air, but I can only find download for "neo core / air" "testing version" with mainline kernel. BACKGROUND: Back on June 27th, I posted my questions regarding my wish to have certain kernel features activated (or not) by default in the Armbian/Debian kernels of the time -- specifically since I wanted to activate 'PPS' features in order to build a Stratum 1 GPS/PPS timeserver: Kernel Option Requests? Here are the 'old' instructions that I used back in June: ORANGE PI PLUS H3 with GPS/PPS I ended up needing to install VirtualBox with an Ubuntu 16.04 environment, and successfully created what I needed (i.e. 3.4.113-PPS-sun8i). I was also eager to create a much newer kernel, but that failed (i.e. 4.11.5). My Orange Pi PC…

I can't get my Orange Pi working... After writing image to a SD card, the system boots up and the green LED lights up. Everything looks ok, until "Starting kernel..." line. After that the screen goes all black or displays artifacts. I tried different HDMI cables but still same issues. I've been trying with 5.25, 5.30, 5.35, 5.38 Ubuntu versions. I found out that the only way to get the system up and running was installing version 5.30, because the system boots with 720p mode. Other builds use 1080p mode. However when I "apt upgrade" the kernel, system boots with 1080p and the issue shows up again. Is there a way to "force" Armbian to use 720p mode by default?

I just installed a fresh armbian 5.38 (mainline kernel) image to an SD Card for my A20-OLinuXino-MICRO board. After booting I used armbian-config to enable the spi-spidev. I then edited the armbianEnv.txt directly to add param_spidev_spi_bus=0. This gives me a single spidev0.0 under dev. Changing the parameter to param_spidev_spi_bus=2 (or 1) I can get the other busses. But only a single bus at a time. I spent I few hours googling, but I cannot seem to find any documentation on how to enable more than one userspace spi dev. Could someone explain to me how to enable all spi devices at once? Writing a custom overlays myself is a little beyond me at t…

Hello ! Hi. The following happened. When power is suddenly cut off in emmc, the file contents created by fopen (), fprintf (), fflush() and fclose () are not saved after rebooting. It seems that it has not been physically written out while being cached. If display the file before cutting off the power, the contents are correctly saved. In addition, if it is normally reboot it is saved correctly.

Hello, dear users and developers. Could you help me to enable SPI1 subsystem and use the corresponding device file /dev/spi... to test/probe SPI communications on my Orange Pi Win (Plus) machine? For the sake of that I am ready go migrate from currently good for me and quite fresh "raspbian for orange pi" where I've already implemented about 95% of required functionality. This seems like a really simple problem, but I can't find any pointers on any forums. I am running a NanoPiNEO2 (Allwinner H5) using the latest Armbian build DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=16.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenial DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS" I am trying all ways to save power. For most of the time, I do not need to use the Ethernet interface (I am using the USB interfaces for comms). I have tried all the obvious commands such as ifdown, and explored ethtool, but nothing I do makes any difference to the current consumption of the device. I expect i am missing something obvious - any help gratefully accepted.

Hello, I am using the Armbian_5.38_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14 image on an OPi zero (H2+ chip). I tried to get "some sound" out of the LINEOUTL and right pins at the expansion port. However, alsa executables like aplay report that there is no sound card. (see below) I testet also with a non-root user (which is in the audio group). My initial guess was that there must some additioanl kernel modules loaded. As I understand, however, the lsmod output, (2) below, should be ok. What it is thing to do to see soundcard(s), e.g. as /dev/dsp? Do I need to set files such as ~/.asoundrc or /etc/asound.conf as a prereq…

Hi, I'm using NetBIOS names when using ssh to access other CTs on my local network. Most of the CTs and other hosts are running Wheezy. Now I have a CT running Stretch and it's very difficult to access this host using 'ssh <stretch host name>' because it's not responding to the broadcas from the calling host. If I repeat the request (and broadcast for the name) multiple times then sooner or later the Stretch CT will respond in time. The timeout on the host doing the broadcast seems very short. Does anybody know where this timeout is specified and how to change it ? Thanks, Steven

Installed Armbian_5.38_Orangepiplus_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop. After a while, namely the clock after 5 work OrangePi Plus 2 disappears from the internal network. Do not pass the ping, connection to the SSH. But you can connect from the outside through the routed ports of the router to the SSH. Pings from it pass only to the router (192.168.0.1). Prior to other devices in the local network, pings also do not reach. This is when the internal network disappeared. Before its disappearance with pings and connections on the SSH, there are no problems. What could be the problem? armbianmonitor -u - http://ix.io/17Ni

This maybe something that just isn't available yet, but if I can help with the development I am happy to. I have created the following patches as a starting point but they don't yet work. Looking at the source code for the spidev module and comparing it to the H3 datasheet, it would appear that the H3 uses the sun6i spi register addresses. Though the datasheet lists the RX and TX buffers as 64 bytes whereas the sun6i spidev driver implements 128byte buffers. I'm assuming that this wont be a problem at least for testing as long as I don't try and transfer or receive more than 64 bytes. As you can see from the dtsi patch, I have updated the module memory locatio…

Hi Guyzz Just got a OPI1 (H3 512MB), and was trying out the stretch image from here https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-one/ https://dl.armbian.com/orangepione/Debian_stretch_next.7z It won't boot It starts up , w. both Orange & Green leds on lan , then i can see it requests a dhcp address , and it gets one (req/offer runs many times), then nothing happens after that. Just - Green light blinks on lan , Orange is unlit. I tried to write (linux dd) it on 2 different SD-cards , a 8GB Intenso , and also a 16GB Sandisk - same behaviour. I grabbed the latest Jessie from the archive , and wrote it to the Intenso 8GB , and it booted fine w. jessie. I don't mind…

Hi guys, I've been busting my head for days now trying to find a way how to permanently change MAC address on my ehternet on Opi Win Plus boards but nothing yielded positive outcome. The reason I need to permanently change MAC address is because I'll be running 6 of these boards on the same network and since all of them have identical MAC it's impossible for my router to manage them properly. I'm running Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.107_server with legacy kernel. I've tried changing the /etc/network/interfaces file by adding hwaddress ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx , changing from static to dhcp and doing all sorts of combinations in hopes that so…

Old post below, here is what I found out thanks to some help from linux-sunxi IRC, I think this is a bug in the ondemand governor When using ASIX AX88772B USB to ethernet adapter and the cpu-governor is on ondemand, transfer speed is very slow. If governor is set to conservative or performance (yes that's right) speed is ok, 50 Mbit at least. So the problem has nothing to do with cpu speed as such (it's working @ steady 480Mhz and @ steady 1200Mhz) for now I'll stick with conservative as I don't want my board to burn up, but It would be nice if someone could take a look at that ondemand governor. Additional info: …

Hi, I am using the Ubuntu desktop image found here https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-prime/ I am able to start the board, it lights up and connects to the network via ethernet -- I see it come up in my DHCP table and am then able to connect via SSH Docs say to use root:1234 for login, but I get Access denied. I found another forum post that says root is disabled via SSH by default. When I try to connect locally, I get no video from HDMI so I don't know what it's loading up to. I had hoped to be able to configure via SSH but can't get in. Any ideas on how I can proceed? Thank you!

Hi all, I'm not very familiar with linux scripting especially for controlling GPIO on Orange Pi. So my question is: is it possible to connect a fan to a GPIO port that is activated when temperature goes above a given value? Does anyone have a script for that or can suggest how to get it done? I have a plastic housing for the board and a fan attached to it that is constantly running. But for 95% of the time I don't have load on the pi and don't need the fan... Thanks in advance

I want to know something about the physical connection in the integrated CVBS video output. I use a jack of 3.5 mm of 4 pins. I see that the last 2 pins of the Orange pi Pc plus are the two audio outputs (Left and Rigth). other two are ground, and the other , the first one, I suppose that is the video output. but physically when I connect the jack to the video output and audio output of the orange, I can measure continuity between the supposed video output and ground. I want to know if something is wrong with that, and if I must be configure something internal in the orange for change this. in summary the audio video output have 5 co…

Good day, everyone! On the manufacturer's website Allwinner H5, it says: 2 Display device, dual display (same or different content) HDMI & CVBS. Can anybody tell me how to do this? I'm willing to pay for the development of drivers and / or firmware to be able to work on an Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H5 device with two displays (1- HDMI, 2-TVout) - at the same time. With suggestions, please contact me at tigroidit@gmail.com

I use two Orange pi PC for music studio use with Jack, Ardour and several midi software to use with midi surface controls and keyboards. Everything works great with an external USB DAC but when I try to use the on board DAC through the HDMI output the sound comes out slowed down to maybe a third of the speed making everything sound like it's in slow motion. Any help to fix this would really be appreciated.

I’m running ARMBIAN 5.38 stable on a Banana Pro and having the board go unresponsive regularly – meaning I can't login via SSH (getting a "port 22: Host is down" error) and applications stop running. I’ve used the Banana Pro board with an external 4TB harddrive via eSATA as a media/backup server with a similar software set up for several years (running regular updates). Occasionally it would go non-responsive, but I’d generally be able to run it for weeks without a restart. The need for a restart became more frequent until now it won't run for more than 12 hours without trying to log in via ssh and seeing “port 22: Host is down” and the programs like plex and …

Hey. I got an orange pi zero + 2 that I'm trying to run armbian on. I've downloaded the both the ubuntu and debian server, and installed to the sd card using Etcher. It boots, but when the boot process reaches "starting kernel", it reboots, and keeps in that loop. Here's a link to a screenshot of what's shown on screen just before it reboots: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xt6ebsdzi0nkf19/Fil 19-02-2018 18.12.04.jpeg?dl=0 I've also tried the images listed on orange pi's own website. They boot up fine to a working desktop. Any help?

Just FYI: Orange Pi Plus 2E is now available for $35 and shipping costs remain the same (pretty low compared to some competitors): http://aliexpress.com/store/product/Orange-Pi-Plus-2-E-H3-Quad-Core-1-6GHZ-2GB-RAM-4K-Open-source-development/1553371_32665196281.html Please remember that this board was designed based on community requests (dropping the slow GL830 USB-to-SATA bridge and the internal USB hub and exposing all 4 USB ports physically to the outside) and should make up for a really nice server with 2 GB DRAM, Gbit Ethernet and 4 USB ports (3 real hosts ports and one Micro OTG). So now we have the following H3 boards with Gigabit Ethernet: Banana …

Hello I have an issue with my HDMI display. Some of the desktop is out of screen. This is about 3% or 15px all around the screen. Changing resolution from 1080p down to 720p and down to 800x600 doesn't fix the borders. Armbian-config allows me to edit the booting environment. Atleast these lines won't work: disable_overscan=0 .... this can also be 1 with no effect overscan_x=-30 overscan_y=-30 .... these can also be positive with no effect also overscan_top, overscan_bottom, overscan_left and overscan_right don't work Only line that changes something is the one with resolution: disp_mode=800x600p60 I don't have zoom on this display or I have l…

I've just asked this question on the UNIX StackExchange - but I am hoping that the Armbian wizards may have a better idea on what is happening. The setup: - Machine 1 is an Arch Linux laptop, on which `ssh` is spawned, connecting to an Armbian-running SBC (an Orange PI Zero). - The SBC itself is connected via Ethernet to a DSL router, and has an IP of 192.168.1.150 - The laptop is connected to the router over WiFi. - There's also another laptop (Machine 2) connected via Ethernet to the DSL router. When benchmarked with `iperf3`, the link between the laptop and the SBC is less than the theoretical 56 MBits/sec - as expected, since …

So I have a question... I'd like to manage Li-Ion battery operation on SBCs using the AXP209 power management chip (especially the Banana Pro, as that's what I have...) I soldered a connector to the battery terminals on my BPro for portable operation, and it would be nice to have some kind of solution to raise an alert at low battery charge (like via the onboard LEDs), and automatically call system shutdown at a certain level. Googling has shown that the AXP209 has an i2c interface for sensors, and there are a few scripts for reading battery status here: http://hardware-libre.fr/2014/11/banana-pi-axp209-battery-power-monitoring/ My current plan is to pro…

The freedombox.org is libre software. The software provides a server solution having a list of preinstalled programs. This post is about if the orange pi one can get a libre software version of the freedombox installed on it. The orangepi one is interesting because of its price and performance. What determines if you can install a libre software image on an arm computer? Is it uboot support? Can you install a libre software version of the freedombox on an orange pi one? The freedombox people say, if you can install pure debian on an arm computer, you can install the freedombox too. Can I ask…

I have been using Debian Jessie on an Orange Pi Plus 2e, but decided to upgrade to Stretch so I could install Chromium (which isn't in the Jessie repositories). I substituted 'stretch' for 'jessie' in /etc/apt/sources.list, then did: $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Everything went OK, until it hung while reconfiguring network manger. I restarted and re-ran sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Everything else appeared to install OK except network-manager (which is shown as installed but half-configured) and network-manager gnome (which is shown as unpacked and not configured), If I try to fix network-manager using dpkg, this is what i get:…

Hy I'm currently trying to run a DS18B20 Temperature Sensor on the PA20 Port on my Neo Core 2. The w1_gpio und w1_therm modules are loaded but still I can't see the senors in the /sys/bus/w1/devices/ folder. (28-xxxx) Now I read in different threads to edit the FEX file in the /boot/ folder. So I would bee to first covert the script.bin to the script.fex. However I can't find any *.bin file in the /boot/ folder... So is the PA20 Port the correct 1Wire port? And how can I change this port to eg. GPIOG11 if I can't find the script.bin in the /boot/ folder? Andy

Hi, After upgrading from Lemaker Lubuntu with 3.4 kernel to the latest Armbian with 4.9 kernel my application that reads INPUT PIN using wiringPi is behaving very strange and unstable. I simply make a pin INPUT and check the value using gpio read command. When I short the pin the value returned by gpio command changes not always immediately. Some times it takes up to 5 seconds to refresh the value. I mean, it keeps returning me "0" while the pin is shortened and only few seconds later it starts returning me "1". Hi I would like to communicate whith an arduino(as receiver) with RF 433. On a first thought I wanted to use rc-switch lib, do you know if there is a way to use it with the PI zero(transmitter) once I have installed the wiring pi zero? if not what would be my best choice as library for OPIZ (and arduino as receiver)? As MCU are better choices to drive hardware part, would it be a good idea to interface OPIZ with a ATMEGA328 as a SPI slave which one would drive the 433 RF emitter with the rc-switch lib above? This would be the overkill situation as I'm new to SPI (and OPIZ). thx

I know the stock Android ROM can play back Youtube content (in the app) without dropping frames - it seems like this should be doable based on what I understand about the capabilities of the A20 and on hardware support in the legacy kernel in the Armbian image ... is there tuning I should be doing? Or options for mpv that I can try? I've used VLC f…

I have just received an Orange Pi PC Plus, and am mostly happy with it. Linux orangepipcplus 4.14.18-sunxi is installed on a microSD card. There is a minor problem with IP addresses.
