Hello everyone I have an orangepi zero with a Micro-USB (OTG) socket and an A-USB socket integrated into the board. Using the Armbian_5.35_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.16 system, a micro-USB cable connected to a Windows computer will have an ELMOG MAS COM device that makes it easy to manage orangepi zero. However, this Micro-USB socket is easily damaged after many times of plugging and unplugging. Can I use the A-USB socket as the USB device mode? thank you all

Hi, I have a nanopi neo based on allwinner h3 chipset. I am trying to use an SPIDEV based driver for RF2401L (2.4 Ghz wireless module). I have used npi-config to enable the /dev/spidev0.0 device. However, when I try to use it to read status register of my module, I get wrong values. My SPI settings are Speed: 10kHz Bits: 8 Mode: 0 (CPOL=0, CPHA=0) To debug the issue I used a logic analyzer and found the clock signal rising up just before the MISO/MOSI activity. It shouldn't do that. When CPOL = 0, clock should be idle at 0. I am setting the SPI mode to 0. Here is the code void SPI::init() { uint8_t bits = RF24_SP…

I've been using a Beelink X2 with Armbian for some time now booting from eMMC. I ran an "apt update; apt upgrade" on the box early on 01/14/2018 and a reboot was suggested at the end. The system did not successfully reboot after this update and it appears that it doesn't recognize uboot on the eMMC. At the time I had other pressing matters so I set it aside to work on today. Today I downloaded the latest image Armbian_5.34.171121_BeelinkX2_Debian_stretch_next_4.13.14_desktop.img, verified it and successfully wrote the image to a 16GB microSD card. This successfully booted the X2, I then did an "apt update; apt upgrade" on the microSD card and rebooted. This then …

Hi everybody, I asked to forum in the past about game library for C but it is very hard to develop our software in C. As I told in the past, I don't develop a game, I using it to draw some graphs in 2d or 3d. I am here again to ask that, Is OPI Zero can run a game software from Monogame framework. We can port our windows C# software which is written with XNA framework to Linux enviorment with MonoGame. Thanks

Hello, guys! I'm trying to make use of gpio-poweroff procedure. I'm trying to understand the consequences of the approach I've used. Here's what I did 1) Added power_ctrl: power_ctrl { compatible = "gpio-poweroff"; gpios = <&pio 6 11 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; force; }; to arch/arm64/boot/dts/allwinner/sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo-plus2.dts 2) Recompiled the device tree blob and put it where it belongs The gpio-poweroff's code got probed but failed due to `pm_poweroff_handler` being set to something. So I figured it out that it's set to `psci_sys_poweroff` in [drivers/firmware/psci.c](https://github…

I'm running "Armbian_5.34.171121_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.14.img" on an OrangePi Zero 2+ H5. Lots of testing was done with the OS installed on and running from the SDCard. I've solved the board's overheating problems by installing a 30 x 30 x 7 mm Heatsink, plus a 50mm USB Powered Centrifugal Blower Fan. At long last the board runs happily at temperatures typically up to about 40 degrees C at light to medium CPU loads, and at around 65 degrees C when the CPU is pushed to 100% utilisation. With this cooling solution, the board has been reliably running PiHole for about two months now. The 50mm fan and the big heat sink are not a very …

Hello, I am using the Olimex OLinuxino and I find a constant noise at about 866.725MHz or thereabout in every board. While low, at -100dBm, when using it with IoT radios this is the band in India and it is quite a pain in applications requiring high sensitivity. This particular board had it pretty nasty at -86dB. I have tried with changing the DDR frequency as well as the CPU clock, however this nuisance refuses to go away. What can be done to get rid of this noise ? I have tried multiple boards -- Olinuxino (multiple), Marsboard, but each has some noise in exactly same band near 866MHz. Please advise.

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but I frequent the LinusTechTips forum a lot, some of you may recognize it. Any way, my issue is with my Orange Pi R1. I've tried both Ubuntu Server and Debian server images and I can't seem to get either to work. I'm using a good OEM Samsung wall wart that can supply up to 2 amps, and I'm using a 32GB Sandisk microSD I pulled from a working Raspberry Pi 2. With the Ubuntu Server image I can get in on the first boot and make a new user, but once it reboots to expand the filesystem it seems like it'm outta luck. I assume the red LED flashes when the kernel is running as normal, and after the first reboot the red LED never flashes, I can'…

Hello all. I'm having a banana Pi and two days ago I had bananian OS on it. Now after searching online I decided to install armbian because it seems the most updated and more user-friendly one. One of the things that I want to do with my Pi, is to create an AP and connect other devices to it. So I read the documentation that is online from armbian site that refers on A. How to build a wireless driver? B. How to set wireless access point? Started with the A. and following all the steps, I realized that the 8192cu.ko module was already installed and loaded because when I tried to load it with insmod command it returned m…

Hi all, I was struggling to have a stable Wifi connection on my new Orange Pi Primes, and believe I found a solution, so I thought it's nice to share it Symptoms: Wifi would connect right after reboot, but would disappear if Orange Pi Prime was idle for about 30min. The only way to reactivate would be to either pull the cable out (as there are no buttons yet), or to login via ethernet, perform ifconfig down && if config up. I didn't liked either of the options, so I decided to investigate. My log was full of: [89201.577208] RTL8723BS: nolinked power save enter [89201.967063] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is n…

Hello everyone. I just got an Orange Pi Plus 2e, which I intend to use a as a personal cloud server. I understand that, in this board, Legacy Kernel is much better than Mainline for desktop usage (video accel, TV out, etc.), but I am not so clear about which one is better for a server. May main concerns are: Ethernet and Wifi speed and reliabililty (ethernet will conect to Internet, and Wifi to home devices as an AP) I/O speed for the USB attached HD Security Any advice about which Kernel to choose? Thanks!

Hi everyone, I got a problem with my beloved Armbian. I switched form a (SD-killing) Pi1 to a OrangePi. Everything runs fine except my Busware SCC (a RF interface for Homematic home automation). The module sits on the extension header and uses Pins 8 and 10 for the UART as well as pins 11 for reset and pin 12 for the bootloader. For the device to work normaly, pin 11 (GPIO17 on the rpi) has to be set high, else the device will stay in reset. Pin 12 I just left as it was on the rpi, the manual says I'm running ARMBIAN 5.36 with kernel 4.13.16-sunxi. If I understood it correct, pin 11 should be GPIO1. To set it high, I use the following code in r…

I am running the newest version of armbian (5.30) on my Orange PI One, but I run into a strange issue. Whenever I connect an usb dongle (RTL8188EU), it is recognised and works, but two NICs are shown in the network manager. Also ifconfig shows interfaces, where the lsusb shows only one device. Also strange is that one is shown as wlan1, but the other as wlx<macaddress>. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue?

Hi, I'd like to use kvm on the Orange Pi PC2, but the Armbian 4.14.12-sunxi64 kernel doesn't seem to enable it (or possibly the boot loader doesn't put the CPU in the right mode?). If I google: allwinner h5 kvm then the first hit shows a kernel boot log which shows kvm enabled on an Orange Pi PC2, so it looks like it's possible. I'm happy to recompile the kernel myself, but wanted to know if there were any gotchas that might mean this is disabled by default on purpose? Cheers, Tim.

Hi I have the following question which I have asked both to someone from Armworks and also #friendlyelec on free node. I haven't got the solution but it has lead me towards the answer. So my problem is in not being able to get xserver running that it indicates the driver "sun8i-de2" can not be found. Below I have posted my full problem below: I have been having problems getting things to display on the LCD display using Xserver. I have been successful displaying images using fbi though. Hello, recently i bought Orange Pi Win Plus board and have installed Armbian (Ubuntu xenial server) on it. I found linux-image-dev-sun50iw1 (https://www.armbian.com/kernel/, section Allwinner A64), its sources and etc has been removed from Armbian repository. I have ironed out my OPZ woes and have it working well now along with the Mainline Armbian image. As we may know the onboard wifi is garbage and will not get fixed, however I found a dirt cheap plug and play usb alternative on ebay (or aliexpress.com) using the common (Ralink?) mt7601u kernel driver. As long the dongle matches the photo in the listing it should have the same chipset. It has very low power consumption and at least with my wifi router gets the maximum 10mbit/sec throughput for downloads on my internet connection at a distance of 5 meters. I also added to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf .... blacklist xradio_wlan …

I'm wanting to connect a Raspberry Pi Zero to my NanoPi Duo via USB Ethernet OTG. Has anyone gotten this to work? I've been following instructions posted at different sites (here's one - https://dev.webonomic.nl/connecting-to-a-raspberry-pi-zero-with-just-an-usb-cable-i) and I can get it to work via my desktop (with Debian) and a Raspberry Pi Zero and between RPI3 and RPI0, but can't seem to get it to work between NanoPi Duo and RPI0. Of course, I don't have a desktop on the NanoPi Duo, so everything has to be done via command line.

I flashed the Armbian 5.35 4.13.16 image and at boot time I sometimes got faults and the OS doesnt boot. The clean install also produced sometimes the error or warning but I started to customize the system with enabling overlays and now its cant boot. I restored the initial state of the uEnv through my computer but the bug is still running. I copied the messages to pastebin: http://pastebin.com/2NUGVnqt I dont know where can I start the debugging and how to find what is wrong. I have C skills but I never debug the kernel so its a good time to start, but first it is a serious bug because the system is useless.

OPi.GPIO uses the GPIO Sysfs Interface for Userspace. I worked with the author to add Nano Pi Duo pin mappings including the built in button. The obligatory LED flasher for Duo: import time import nanopi.duo from OPi import GPIO GPIO.setmode(nanopi.duo.BOARD) GPIO.setwarnings(False) GPIO.setup(7, GPIO.OUT) GPIO.output(7, GPIO.HIGH) count = 0 while count < 20: print(count) GPIO.output(7, GPIO.LOW) time.sleep(0.5) GPIO.output(7, GPIO.HIGH) time.sleep(0.5) count += 1 GPIO.cleanup()

Hi to everyone, I'm new at armbian forum, but following the project since some month. As far as I can tell all contributors make a great job to enable a stable debian based distribution to many as possible arm-based boards. Thanks a lot for this great job. I bought one of the first available Banana Pi M3-boards in Germany, because I wanted (and did it already very successfully) to set up a small server for email, music storage, mythtv-backend, read out my central heating.... Until now I use a stripped down image based on the provided Ubuntu 16.04 image from http://www.banana-pi.org/m3-download.html As you all know the "support" and further developmen…

I've been having a rather odd issue with an entirely pink screen upon cold boot. I tried with Raspbian and it didn't occur there. This has actually prevented me from using the device at all now. When I first set it up, I was able to Ctrl C the setup stuff and type in reboot. When it rebooted, I was able to use it again. However, last night the Wifi completely died. I tried everything to revive it but it kept asking for the password repeatedly. Tried different networks, no luck. Figured power cycling might help. Bad idea. Now I can't SSH in to type in reboot, and I'm now permanently stuck on a pink screen. Doesn't matter if …

I'm going to use MIPI DSI LCD with OrangePi Win. In default configuration MIPI DSI is disabled. I activated Samsung DSI panel in kernel configurator. But it seems it always compiles default configuration. I don't see mipi dsi in dmesg. And image size is always exactly same, doesn't matter make I change in configurator or not. So my question how to compile whole image with MIPI DSI support? Thank in advance!

Hi Everyone. I expect I'm making a simple mistake here, but I'm pretty new to this and could use some help. I am trying to set a static ip address on an orange pi pc running armbian Jessie 5.36. I want a static ip to set up an nfs between multiple boards. I've done this before on debian desktops, but this time I'm getting errors. I have tried multiple ways (editing the /etc/network/interfaces, nmtui, nmcli) without success. For simplicity, here's a version of what I'm doing. I start with a clean install. The Opi connects to my router fine. I add and update all the packages I need, then use nmtui to change the name of the network connection from "Ethern…

The Luma library allows you to display text, graphics, animation, etc. on multiple display types. Here I will describe the easiest one to configure which is Luma.OLED and the I2C version of the SSD1306. You can find these displays on EBay and Amazon for less than $10 US each (you can get them for less than $3 US if you order from China, but it might not show up). I've configured Luma on many SBCs and it's my go to library if I need a small display for projects. Requirements NanoPi Duo (I used V1.0 board with 512 MB RAM) flashed with Armbian image. This will work with or without the mini shield. Small nylon nuts, bolts and standoffs if y…

My Orange Pi Prime freezes when compiling anything major (Ruby, CPython). It completely locks up halfway through. No error or kernel panic from serial either. HDMI output goes black. I've tried: Better cooling, different brand SD cards (Sandisk Ultra, Samsung Evo from reputable suppliers), different power supplies, and even disabling swap. Tried my Lab Bench Power Supply at 5.00, 5.10, 5.20 and 5.35 volt, volt drop is about 0.1 volt measured at the board, and power usage at 400-700mA depending on the load. Tried `stress` in all sorts of configurations for times up to 1 hour, this does not crash the board. Iozone also does not crash the …

Happy New Years, I tried an LXDE ssh "MobaXterm" session with Chromium on my Orange Pi Zero 512mb. Surprised it worked however the laggy browser page scroll and javascript animations (appearing as a really slow vsync wave top to down), does that reflect real world performance when outputting to say hdmi? This Orange Pi has no immediate way to output to my tv so could not test otherwise. Is there any video hardware acceleration being used (mainline kernel Armbian) using this method? As maybe the lack thereof is the cause of lag, along with network overheads etc. Regards, Rollmeister

I know it's a dev build but I hope that it's just a missing config file from that build branch or something. Thanks TB

Hello community armbian :). I have a trouble on orange pi plus2e armbian mainline kernel. There is no reaction of the pins after the export. echo 11 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo "out" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio11/direction echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio/gpio11/value and physical pin not responding... keeping the voltage around 1.2v, when reading the same thing. I think that the physical and virtual numbering of contacts is different. And excuse me for my english...

Hello, I use Orange Pi Zero + 4 ports USB hub + CM108 USB-Audio cards with mic-in. All by default. But if I start capturing with 4th card simultaneous I get two cards with crackling recorded audio. Hi all, I'm currently running Armbian 5.36 Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 4.11.1-sun50iw2. This was / is a local armbian build that I performed a few months ago to resolve an issue that I saw at that time in the network stack that prevented ipsec working correctly. I've performed apt update / apt upgrade since however cat /proc/version still reports the version as that which I manually built back in June. Fast forward to today and I'd like to try out some traffic shaping tc rules but I'm running into some difficulty, which is making me doubt if my kernel has the support needed for iproute2. The following works without any issue to list existing rul…

I got an Orange Pi PC with Armbian Ubuntu Desktop installed. It runs perfectly fine. 1080p resolution, sound, ethernet, browsing, what-have you. It can even play x265 videos flawlessly (which is why I got it for as my RPi3 can't). Highest temp is 46C so far (with or without a heat sink and no fan). Anyway, I've updated and upgraded and then installed Kodi. My media is on my NAS, so I input my SMB info, and it connects fine. But as it reads the media, Kodi just shuts off on its own. No crash report or anything. It just closes and I'm back on the desktop. Re-opening it starts Kodi up for a sec and then closes itself. Deleting the user folder under a Kodi directo…

Hi. I've been using my Cubietruck for some time now without any issues. It is not directly connected to the outside world and is only used for some home automation. It boots via SD -> the SSD and has an internal battery as UPS. Really happy with it. Last year I migrated from Wheezy to Jessi so now I am at: ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.109-sunxi I still receive the updates via ap-get update && upgrade, however should I be updating major like kernel? As this thing is used for home automation I am not looking forward to large down times. ;-) tnx for your honest responses.

Hello, Just started on the latest Neo2 Ubuntu (Armbian_5.34.171121_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.14) as we were tired trying to get around the challenges of the Ubuntu Core provided by FriendlyARM. Have enabled SPI we think (armbian-config->system/hardware/spi-spidev) and rebooted, but even after full power cycle we don't see anything in /dev/spi*. Is there anything special/additional we need to do to get SPI working (which we know does from our Ubuntu Core build). Thanks Rob
