Hello, I'm a lay user, I don't know much about Armbian and networks - On my network I have a router whose default DNS is set to point to an OrangePI 3 lts with Armbian 23.02, where I installed AdGuard (v0.107.52) and created my rules to filter advertisements through URLs that I access through the web browser of any device. It works almost 100% as I would like - I use a NO-IP DDNS on the router to access the surveillance DVR and I can see the cameras fine on my smartphone. However, when there is a power outage and then it comes back on, there is often some kind of synchronization failure between the router and the OrangePI to access…

I know that mainline kernel now is 4.14, and now is experimental for A64.. I have tried build my own armbian form Orangepi Win Plus. Kernel 4.14 does not recognize audio and LAN. Question. Is it possible to build Armbian 5.51 with old kernel 3.10 for that device ( Ubuntu 18.04). Old kernel works much better with devices A64 cpu. I know that is old......but mayby not so experimental.....

Yesterday I nearly burned my orange pi zero because of the faulty LAN cable, after that, everything I plugged into the expansion board couldn't be detected anymore by lsusb or dmesg, it works fine though if I plug in my thumb drive / usb wifi into the usb port on the main board (Next to the LAN port). How do I know for sure that my expansion board is broken and not the pin headers in the main board ? I'm not an electronic guy I don't know anything about soldering and stuff.

Recently I tried to connect CAN bus adapter to my Orange Pi 3 LTS board and it happened that there is not so much information about it, it is outdated or related to other boards. So, after I spent a few days in trials and errors below is my recipe. 1. Connect a CAN interface board. Orange Pi pins are not 5V tolerant, so I decided to use a dedicated 2-channel board from Waveshare: https://www.waveshare.com/2-ch-can-hat.htm (only one channel for the start). You can modify a cheap board from AliExpress though; there are instructions in the Internet. I used the PL10 pin of Orange Pi 3 LTS board as INT pin. Actually first I tried to use the PD21 pin but it seems that…

Is it possible to boot from harddisk (ssd) without the need of the sd-card. I am using an A20-OLinuXino-MICRO from OLIMEX. After flashing sd wih image and setting up boot from sata or usb by the use of armbian-config sd card is still needed. Would the A20 recognize u-boot (bootloader) on diffrent device than sd-card?

Hello, I can get 5.90 Bionic to boot, but Unifi needs an old mongodb. Stretch 5.65 worked in the past, but 5.83 will not boot. It hangs after "[ OK ] Started udev Coldplug all Devices." Hi I'm using an Orange Pi PC Plus with a LoRa HAT (Semtech SX1278) connected via GPIO. The tool which uses this HAT connects directly to the SX1278 chip on the HAT, no protocoll like SPI is needed. I'm using it for several years on RaspberryPi's without problems. But with the latest ARMBIAN Image for the Orange Pi PC Plus Armbian_23.11.1_Orangepipcplus_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img.xz I have issues in this constellation. The tool can not contact the SX1278 via GPIO, said the tool developer. It seems like I have to activate the GPIO pins before. I've tried to find information about that, but without success. So I hope to find here more in…

Hi, I trying to use UART 1 & UART 2 at OPi Zero 2 Plus with no success with armbian stable and ubuntu server. I test all combinations, of fex settings, turn off everything except required uarts, set uart_type = 2 and etc, and it did not connect. UART0 and UART3 works fine, but I need cts-rts lines from uart2 for hi speed (it's uart_type = 4, but I would like to start regular uart first). tested with picocom, ft232 & pl2303 I use 8 & 10 pins for uart 1 and 11&13 for uart2 as described at http://linux-sunxi.org/Orange_Pi_Zero Is it correct pins? Thanks

Has anyone built a micro rootfs for O-Pi-ZERO NOR Flash ? Does anyone have an idea of the MINIMUM SIZE that is required to do so, if 2MB is too less ? Thanks Nbird.

Hi After reading this: "No audio driver, IR, NAND, BT, HW video, I2C and SPI untested on 4.0 or higher" i'm not sure which kernel version should i choose. Is that "no audio driver" means that there is no HDMI audio, or no any audio including jack audio? Both kernels support the "Allwinner Security System cryptographic accelerator"? As i'm using CB2 as a headless java application server, samba fileserver, dlna server and music player daemon server, i need only jack audio from these, and of course the hw cryptographic support.

I've been happily running orangepipc with armbian (buster, 4.19.62-sunxi) as an openvpn gateway for my home devices for some time. Here are some details: I have a remote openvpn server the pi runs an openvpn client and connects to the server the pi has ipv4 packets forwarding enabled my wifi router provides the pi's ip as the default gateway via dhcp So when I connect to wifi with my phone, all phone traffic will be routed through the remote openvpn server without need to install the openvpn client on the phone itself. With this setup the pi can easily saturate my 30mbit cable connection when downloading torrents for e…

Hi, I would like to ask you guys if you have any experience in deploying a Hadoop Cluster on cubieboard2. I am using Debian jessie 4.1.4 and I am having a lot of trouble doing it. Hello, I try to get WiFi P2P working on the Nano Pi Neo Air with a 4.x mainline kernel and so I tried the latest available nightly build "Armbian_5.24.170118_Nanopiair_Ubuntu_xenial_4.9.4.img" but I have problems to establish a connection. Hi, Got an issue with some long latency/buffer on OrangePiPC. Legacy built kernel with RT (Armbian 5.32). The default output, Audiocodec Analog Stereo, exhibits a latency of about 500ms or somewhere there, it is actually a delayed play. Other outputs do not have such latency, eg if I connect a USB audio device, it is just fine with only a few ms of latency. If it was a generic setting that would have impact on the USB audio too, but it is not, USB audio plays without excessive latency. Tried to set as low as I could the default-fragments (=8) and default-fragment-size-msec (=3) in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf to have 24msec of buffer but to no a…

Hello, I'm a new user of Orange Pi One - it just arrived yesterday. I installed Armbian and hoped to try out some H264 video. After long time spent researching the topic I found out that Armbian is using libvdpau-surni whitch is a community driver reversed-engeineered from Allwinner's commertial one, apparently avalibale for Android. I also read that its output will alvays overlap any other elements of the screen including subtitles, menus et…

I was trying to find an image for Orange Pi Zero H2+ over here ( at Armbian Orange Pi downloads section ). I couldn't find the image for Orange Pi Zero H2+. There are images for H3 and H5 on that page. Can someone please point to the appropriate image for this board? Thanks a lot.

Hi all, I'm trying to use an Orange Pi PC Plus to drive an RS485 serial converter and ultimately talk Modbus to a sensor device. I have managed to get flow control enabled on the port, but the polarity of the RTS signal is active LOW, whereas the converter I have requires active HIGH. Is there any way to invert the polarity of the RTS pin for the UART? I think it can be done via ioctl call in C programs, but I need this applied at a system level to be compatible with some third party software. Thanks in advance!

I usually attach a GPS module to OrangePi One to act as a GPS ntp server . GPS serial data can use any UART port. but PPS pulse can use PA7 or UART_RTS, I most connect to PA7, works very well. Recently I bought a GPS modules for Rasberry Pi, it connect the PPS to pin 12, in One it's PD14 But when I set param_pps_pin=PD14 in armbianEnv.txt , it can't work at all . see /sys/kernel/debug/gpio , there is no GPIO 110 (PD14) at all. So don't use PD14 as a PPS pulse input.

it appears the pins on the esp8266 12e are also on the orange pi one. Can I connect the pins to an armbian orange pi one and then test the esp8266 12e? I want to test if wifi works. Is required software present in armbian? Or should I get an usb adapter https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1pm33XifrK1RjSspbq6A4pFXaf.jpg?width=1000&height=1000&hash=2000 and utilize a x86 gnulinux computer? It says the esp8266 12e supports i2c. Does the orange pi one have i2c pins, such that I can test the wifi of the esp8266 12e from an i2c connection on the armbian orange pi one? Is required software present in armbian? Thanks.

Hi, is this the right place to ask about support to configure a dtb overlay? I created a .dts file for my ILI9341 TFT display which is connected to a cubietruck running armbian. most of it I copied from the internet and adapted my changed (pin configuration and spi device). Previously I my configuration was done in a fex file and also created a pcb to connect the display to the cubietruck. See german documentation https://klautesblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/ili9341-22-tft-display-am-cubietruck.html?m=1 It worked perfectly but now I’m facing some issues with the new system. I've been trying lots of stuff, read a lot but could not make it work. What I need is to make a video player. If someone pushes a button a specific video will be played. So simple. The device will be networked and I will add other stuff in time (sensors, Python scripts, IoT frameworks etc). I chose Orange Pi One and Armbian Debian LEGACY (sorry NOT mainline) kernel. I wrote scripts to to automate device setups. All fine. To play videos I installed LXDE and mpv. The video did not work as there is no acceleration. Drivers seem to be broken (05.02.2017 compilation - I read about the broken drivers, but do not have the solution) …

Hello, Is possible to connect my printer to the USB OTG with an adapter ? The printer (HP PSC1215) is pretty old and doesn't have an ethernet port, so I would like to share it over network with my OPI One. The native usb port is used already. I was thinking to buy an adapter USB OTG to USB and to connect the printer here. I'm asking here because I'm not very sure how does OTG works. The freedombox.org is libre software. The software provides a server solution having a list of preinstalled programs. This post is about if the orange pi one can get a libre software version of the freedombox installed on it. The orangepi one is interesting because of its price and performance. What determines if you can install a libre software image on an arm computer? Is it uboot support? Can you install a libre software version of the freedombox on an orange pi one? The freedombox people say, if you can install pure debian on an arm computer, you can install the freedombox too. Can I ask…

I built Armbian Edge from source (bookworm, server, no gui) and have no video via HDMI. Being a new build, networking is not set up and so I cannot SSH in to troubleshoot. I reverted to a stable Armbian build on another SD, upgraded that kernel to Edge, and lost video output. This one already has networking set up, I can SSH in, but I don't know what to look for in order to get my monitor working. Goal being, figure out what needs changed, and change it in the build process for a new image. I appreciate any pointers.

Is anyone still working with cubietruck? I installed the latest mainline image over Christmas expecting it to have the cedrus driver but apparently it does not. I thought that everything except HDMI audio should be working in mainline now. So I installed the latest legacy image. It plays videos well but bluetooth doesnt work. I switched it on in armbian-config and 'rfkill list' shows it as not disabled but the bluetooth manager shows no adapter and search is grayed out. This is a regression as it used to work to some extent. Also, very importantly for me, neither image switch over to battery power when the AC goes out. This also used to work on leg…

Hi All, I'm using a rather old Armbian (wheezy) image on an Olimex Micro. I've installed a lot of apps on it, so I don't want to be moving to a newer image. I'm trying to copy my SD card image to NAND using the `nand-sata-install.sh` script that came with the image. All goes well. The script partitions the NAND, reboots, installs all files and shuts down. When I remove the SD card and power on, the board boots and everything is still alright. Now, on subsequent poweroffs or reboots, the board does boot, but I doesn't connect to ethernet. Boot logs from debug UART show that `proc` isn't mounted. Error: /proc must be mounted What could be the reaso…

Hi guys, I've been tring to get an IR LED to work with LIRC for a while now but just cant get it to work. I'm a bit of a noob with linux, so bear with me.... Anyway its the sending using gpio that i need and the closest i've come is with the LIRC GPIO kernel module from here. Hello! It's about installing Armbian on OPi+ 2E without a reliable sdcard and with no proper card reader - U-Boot goes to sdcard, Armbian image goes to USB dong then installed to eMMC. I did this once but can't remember what device was the sdcard in Android, if anybody knows it would be great to share. It mounts as /dev/block/vold/179:1, but writing (dd) u-boot.bin to 179:0 or 179 doesn't result in a bootable sdcard (the OPi boots from eMMC, and as far as I remember if it has bootable sdcard inserted it should boot from it no matter what is on the eMMC). There was also an issue with the nand-sata-install - I had to remove some lines as it wouldn't allow writing …

Hi guys, I just installed Kodi on my Orange Pi Lite running Armbian. Everything worked very well, except for the fact that that there seemed to be no audio at all through my tv. I am a beginner, so I really don't know what to do at this point. I saw someone talking about editing the /etc/asound.conf file so it will transmit sound through the HDMI cable. However, I have no idea how to open a file in the Terminal. I would love to (at least) know how to open a file in the Terminal. Thanks in advance, TheNooter.

If anyone in interested in a lightweight wayland desktop, inspired by openbox, you should try labwc. In orange pi zero 3, we need to stay in bookworm to get video acceleration, so this guide helps build labwc in bookworm As a greeter, I chose pi-greeter, because it is the lightest login manager I could setup, without any X11 https://github.com/robertojguerra/opiz3-labwc-setup I am open to read any improvements, or show me how I could make deb packages. In the near future, I will make a step-by-step video tutorial in Youtube.

Where can I check out the linux kernel source code for Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 (/usr/src/linux, nothing more nothing less). The reason is that I had a Gentoo system running on Cubieboard 20 with an outdated kernel, and my attempt to build a new kernel was unsuccessful. But copying kernel and modules from Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 was really successful. And I have completely rebuilt the whole Gentoo userland using the Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 kernel. Now I want to re-generate a new 4.4.3 (or newer) kernel using Gentoo genkernel command. For that I only need linux source code. I suspect that the source codes from kernel.org need special patches.

Hi, I'm fairly new to linux and I've been trying to get my banana pi OTG port to act as a HID device when plugged in. I've been looking to do it using configfs and usb_gadget but I have no idea how to get this working. Do I need to compile the kernel with additional options to get this working? I've googled for days now and tried various different solutions but not got far with it. Any help is much appreciated.

I am trying to get USB 2.0 port to reach maximum bandwidth with OTG port (Hi-Speed - 480 MegaBits/second) on PineCube device. Currently it is performing as Full-Speed (12.5 MegaBytes/second) usb port. I have measured the speed and performance using iperf + g_ether kernel mod + OTG port (details below) Official datasheet of PineCube (https://files.pine64.org/doc/datasheet/pinecube/S3_Datasheet_V1.1-20180123.pdf) tells that the port can perform up to 60 MegaBytes/second or 480 MegaBits/second. g_webcam mod is also performing at Full-Speed mode. Hi, Sorry, I don't know if correct topic, but I have a Orange PI 3 and have problem with DNS resolution. I tried with image Armbian_5.82.19042 based in Debian and Ubuntu but is imposible make to work. I added the line net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1 in /etc/sysctl.conf file but this change not resolved the problem. For example if I try to ping www.google.com sometime take a 25 second for DNS resolve to IP address. I don't see any problem with my local network because I have other devices that not have any problem with DNS resolution. Please, your help.
