  1. Started by oreki89,

I am running ubuntu xenial (legacy version) on my orangepi zero 256Mb version and using it as a web server with light torrenting. The SoC temperature reading in armbianmonitor reaches above 80C easily. When i log in via ssh after boot the temperature reads usually 60-65 C and normal operations easily cross 70C. This is my first SBC so I am not sure if this is normal? Can anyone tell me if these temperature readings are notmal or do i need heatsink to cool down my system? Thanks in advance.

  2. Started by Rein,

I have recently updated to Armbian Focal (Ubuntu 20.04). My Banana Pi M1 is running an apache server + some digital amateur radio stuff. So upload speed is important. My average download and upload speed as measured with speediest-cli is 45Mb/sec and 18Mb/sec respectively (wired connection to modem) With Focal I get these speeds with Buster (Debian 10) the download speed is still 45Mb/sec but the upload speed drops to 3.4 Mb/sec. These results are not one off but consistent. The am64 version of Buster does exactly the same thing.. My question is : can I change this with programming or is it a fixture in the kernel ? Can someone enlighten me please ? Rein

  5. Hi, I have flashed Armbian_5.35_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop.img - and it works fine with my Orange Pi Lite v.1.1 But if I flash Armbian_5.38_Orangepilite_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.img which is aslo supported, the device does not boot. At least I get no output on HDMI, and no serial console over OTG. So I cannot check if it does not boot at all, or dies somewhere in the middle How can I check why it does not boot?

  7. Hi, I've just downloaded the July 12th image with the 3.4.108 kernel from http://www.igorpecovnik.com/2013/12/24/cubietruck-debian-wheezy-sd-card-image/. After booting from SD card i can't seem to reach ssh on this machine. I can ping it though ping times vary between 1 and 220ms. I tried to boot several times but nothing changes. With the 4.x kernel i was able to boot and ssh into. Any idea?

  10. Just for information, I have tested ADS7846 touchscreen on new 4.19.y Bionic Orangepi one. What I did to get it work: 1. Upgrade dtc to version 1.4.7. By default it was dtc version 1.4.5 and I have get errors while trying to do " armbian-add-overlay sun8i-h3-spi-ads7846.dts" 2. There is missing driver in kernel by default, so I have installed ubuntu bionic 18.04.1 LTS on PC. After that use this guide https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ Switch on ADS7846 module, then install new compiled package linux-image-next-sunxi_5.74_armhf.deb on OrangePi-one.

  13. Hey there. I used to run an Octoprint server on my Orange Pi Zero H2+ installed over armbian, which got swapped with a raspberry pi for unimportant reasons. I wanted to switch back, but for all of the armbian builds listed here for Orange Pi Zero, I am just getting a green light on the board and some blinking of the orange indicator only from the Ethernet Jack. Is this expected? This is happening with multiple SD-cards an two Orange Pi Zeros. All of the OS images from http://www.orangepi.org/ seem to work just fine, as well as an old "debian_server_for_orangepizero_v0_9_2.img" I found, so I'm going that route for now. But I can't image this is expecte…

  14. These boards are well suited to routing/network traffic control functionality. Currently the kernel has been compiled with Traffic Control stuff disabled, which makes it impossible to perform traffic shaping on stock Armbian kernel. I'm busy recompiling the kernel as a temporary solution, but I will really appreciate it if the kernel build maintainer can please change the traffic control options from DISABLED to MODULE (at least)? I have a bunch of Armbian boards but I'm testing with NanoPi Neo 2 right now. --- I'll let you know the size of the modules once I've finished compiling.

Hi, I'm using NetBIOS names when using ssh to access other CTs on my local network. Most of the CTs and other hosts are running Wheezy. Now I have a CT running Stretch and it's very difficult to access this host using 'ssh <stretch host name>' because it's not responding to the broadcas from the calling host. If I repeat the request (and broadcast for the name) multiple times then sooner or later the Stretch CT will respond in time. The timeout on the host doing the broadcast seems very short. Does anybody know where this timeout is specified and how to change it ? Thanks, Steven

  19. Started by jock,

I got an OrangePi Pc, and I see that Mali GPU frequency has been rolled back to 252 Mhz, or at least the kernel is saying so in dmesg. I took a look into the changelog, the frequency has been increased to nominal 600 Mhz in armbian v5.15, but now I installed a fresh 5.20, upgraded to latest packages and I see that kernel initializes the GPU at 252 Mhz. I found no traces of this rollback in the changelog. As I'm currently testing the SBC as a desktop replacement, I'm guessing if the increased gpu frequency could be of any benefit to the interface snappiness.

After along time I downloaded a new armbian image, after doing apt update/upgrade for the last year or so. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Udi

Is there anything that I could do instead of adding it to fstab and manually restarting or manually mounting it every time I connect a media to my Banana Pi server? …

I have a NanoPi Neo. I am trying to get a gps module setup on it. Just at typical neo6m, serial gps module. I would like to start out at the basics. I am not new to linux, or micro controllers, but I am new to the nanopi. How can I confirm that something is talking on the serial ports? Is there a way to route the serial port traffic to the terminal when I am logged in through ssh? I am not sure the uart1 is enabled, but even if it is enabled, I really wouldnt know how to confirm it. Does anyone know where I can look to find some info? I would like to find out how to enable the serial ports for communication with another device &amp…

  97. Hi, My applications were running from eMMC when I used Kernel 3.4.113 and Orange Pi PC Plus purchased 6 months back. But on my last week purchase, armbian-config of 3.4.113 does not detect eMMC of Orange Pi PC Plus. I am told by Xunlong to use the latest kernel. This will result in huge development efforts. Are there any patches that can be applied to 3.4.113 to use my same application on latest PCB? Thanks

  98. Which is the correct overlay to specify for libcamera support for the Arducam IMX219? I am assuming this would go into /boot/armbianEnv.txt ? The packages libcamera0.3 libcamera-tools libcamera-v4l2 installed properly, however, all examples on the net apply to PIs and not the OrangePiZero... Thanks in advance.

  100. Started by Narkozzz,

Hello! I am tired of system freezing once in 1-2 days, and think the reason is heating (Board 49 degrees right now) so I decided to revert system back to SD and not use HDD at all, making system more stable by power and temperature. Please help me to do it - is there any revert script that I can run to move all data from HDD back to SD?
