  1. Hello, this is not a big problem, but for me makes a board useless I use orange pi to control ralays thru GPIOs it works flawless on Orange PI PC, PC+, One so I decided to buy Orange PI Lite and I discovered that all gpio are set to high for half a second and then back to low, while unit power up or restarts. Just like an internet router It do that even without a SD card, that points this is coded into U-Boot. Any idea how to fix that?

  2. Hi you all, I have flashed a good, tested and reliable 32GB SD card with the last build for Orange PI Win (armbian 5.38) and when first updating, it stucks in "waiting for headers" for too long. I have read that this is caused in Linux systems because one installs third party software whose repos take long to answer, but since here it is a first and fresh update, with nothing but armbian inside, I ask myself if it is normal or there is a problem with the servers at this moment. Only apt-get update ca take up to 1h 30 min, so it is really an annoying issue. Is anyone out there experiencing the same problem (and hopefully with a solution) ?? Thank you guys!…

  3. Last year I tried the 5.30 and was not happy, as the PI did not give signal to HDMI, when monitor was plugged in while booting. After booting, plug in HDMI cable, picture was on monitor. Now tried the newer Armbian_5.38 on a 2nd Orange PI PC, and I get NO picture / signal on HDMI. Nothing. Have also changed to several resolutions, but no image on monitor or beamer. I have also tried the "DVI adapter option" in the "armbian config". What is wrong with it? I have 2 PI PCs. Same problem on the other PI (now there runs a PI HOLE, as I was not able to get a picture without un-pluging the HDMI cable, so I switched over to a Banana PI M1 for…

  4. We flash hundreds of Orange PI 3 LTS boards with stock Armbian Debian Bullseye via nand-sata-install to install it on the onboard eMMC storage. Some boards after running for a week or more would randomly give this error and fail to boot: Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done. done. Gave up waiting for root file system device. Common problems: - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline) - Check rootdelay* (did the system wait long enough?) - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules: ls /dev) ALERT! /dev/mmcblk0p1 does not exist (initramfs) We can turn the board on and off as many times as we want, the error persists. Hi. I'd want to set a custom MAC address to my cb2. I set the static mac address in u-boot environment variable ethaddr. If i print the environment (with "printenv command" i find it right there but when the system starts and i go through ifconfig i can see eth0 has a different MAC. Any suggestion on how to get MAC from u-boot? I'm on Armbian 5.20 legacy kernel. Thank you

  7. Hi, I'm trying to use hardware acceleration on my OrangePi PC+ (H3) board, and when I try to compile v4l2-request, it complains for undefined constants. These constants are supposed to be declared in /usr/include/linux/videodev2.h, but looks like a very old version of this file is distributed in the latests Armbian images for my board. Some missing headers: V4L2_PIX_FMT_MPEG2_SLICE, V4L2_PIX_FMT_SUNXI_TILED_NV12 Looks like these #define have been introduced more than two years ago in the mainline kernel : https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blame/d5beb3140f91b1c8a3d41b14d729aefa4dcc58bc/include/uapi/linux/videodev2.h#L698 Even more weird: a later …

I am trying to figure out how to make the Orange Pi Zero a USB gadget. Preferably a USB Vendor Device but a mass storage device would work for now. I was able to successfully create the ethernet gadget. (Using Armbian_3.4.112_g_ether_kernel.tar.bz2) That is pretty cool. But I would like the mass storage or vendor device. I was playing around with modprobe but I am not really sure what I am doing. Module g_mass_storage is not found. I have searched this site and online for the last few hours and just got more confused. Thanks for any help.

Prerequisites are quite similar to a NAS : quality, stability, performance, minus 80$, Gibabit LAN, SATA, USB. So I have 4 models in mind: - Banana pro - Banana pi - A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 - Espressobin Which one is best suited and/or do you have other models in mind?

  25. I am using GPIO(CON3) pins 8 and 10 for a project. The WiFi device is a Realtek 8821cu and system loads driver correctly when I do a cold boot or if I hot-plug it, but it fails in a warm boot. After doing many tests, I realized that if I plug the WiFI dongle in a non-powered USB 2.0 hub and I connect this latter to the NanoPi Neo's USB 2.0 port, then it also works. I don't have anymore idea to solve it. The 8821cu driver fails because WiFi device shows itself like powered down.

Hi, I need to use the i2c in the u-boot stage. I've added a patch that enables this i2c bus in the device-tree, and when I run this command (just for example): sudo i2cset -y 2 0x1b 0x1 0xf AFTER the boot stage it seem to work. However when I try this command IN THE boot stage, I get: Unknown command 'i2cset' - try 'help'. 1. I guess I'm trying to use 'i2cset' in a too early stage - any idea how to control the i2c in the u-boot stage or how to make 'i2cset' available at the u-boot stage ? 2. Since 'i2cset' doesn't work in the u-boot stage, I don't know if the i2c is enabled at this stage (I know it's enabled after boot) - how can…

Hello folks! I'm investigating an odd issue of the OPi R1 board, with the image Armbian_5.83_Orangepi-r1_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.38. With this version of software the board works fine, but apparently the wifi cannot reconnect after a disconnection (error: association request to the driver failed) The only workaround I found is to manually bring down the wifi interface and then back up; then the reconnect is almost immediate. I tried to disable the NetworkManager and now I'm using /etc/network/interfaces file to handle the connections but the problem still persists. I checked the issue with another R1 board and so I can exclude that the boa…

  53. I have been experimenting with trying to get video acceleration working on the A83T. I can see from /proc/device-tree/soc/... that there is already a video-engine node within the current A83T device tree. It appears to be applied as one of the megous patches ARM-dts-sun8i-a83t-Add-cedrus-video-codec-support-to-A83T-untes.patch. Admittedly this is noted as being untested. In my initially created build via the build framework, Cedrus was not present at all among the list of loaded modules. I addressed this by creating an entry in the Cedrus compatibility table for the sun8i-a83t-video engine drv-sun8i-a83t-cedrus-add-variant.patch It now appears to l…

  55. Hi, after I made a software-update for my Cubitruck last week, my VGA monitor shows text only up to "starting kernel", then turns black. HDMI still works. I tried to reinstall the newest versions of both Ubuntu Bionic and Debian Stretch, both show this problem. Currently I am using Python and am able to address the GPIO pins (using this project: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3) However, I need to communicate with a serial device (projector) using RS232 on 9600 BAUD. For this, the built-in UART should do the trick (with an additional voltage converter). Does anyone know how I can address this device from Python? Alternatively, is there a way to clock" an GPIO output to 9600 BAUD and manually send the data? Thanks, Ezpl

  73. Hello! I've downloaded the current images for BananaPi M1 offered in the site, as "Community Maintained" builds, but none of them is capable of producing video output from HDMI nor composite video. Both the Ubuntu jammy and Debian12 versions lose the video output as soon as the kernel starts to load, after the u-boot screen. I tried the desktop and server images, without any luck. With the older 5.x kernel, the ubuntu-jammy image that I've downloaded before loads fine. I know it's an old board, but it still gives me some amusement time tinkering with it and playing retro games. Anyone experiencing the same problem? Thanks!

My Opi3 has been running armbian for over 2 years (edge kernels & usually fully up-to-date). I have been using eMMC & I noticed an apparent slowdown about 6 months ago. As it performs cron-based tasks and is a stats collector, this performance was not noticable but doing a manual BIG dist-upgrade, it seems to take forever (20 minutes to do what should be under 5 minutes). If I run "mmc extcsd read /dev/mmcblk1", the results tell me that the eMMC is at least 90% used whatever that really means. Is this a sign of imminent failure ? hdparm shows read results of 17 MB/s which is actually slower than my alternative SD card boot device and nearly 1/10th …

My trouble is that I'm creating new images for the nodes (bananapi m2 zero) from here, the nodes boots, but it seems like the OTG port is not behaving as expected. Dear community. I like to get the NanoPi Neo air work as HID Gadget using libcomposite. I am using the dev kernel (4.10) and libcomposite is loaded. Following this tutorial http://isticktoit.net/?p=1383 the usb gadget init script is running without errors on startup. But there is no entry in /sys/class/udc/ and i get no /dev/hidg0 device Did i missed something? is there a special overlay directive for the usb controller? or is something missing in the kernel? is it better to use the g_hid module?

  89. We have a project based on FriendlArm's NanoPi Neo Air board. Currently the devices are running Armbian 18.04 LTS loaded from emmc. We are looking for a way to update the devices "offline" / with no user interaction. We can upload data to the devices via FTP and also can execute shell scripts. We can not easily access the on-board micro SD slot but have an external SD-Slot / USB-A Port with lots of free memory on each device. Any hints or explanations are very welcome!

  93. Hello, using newest Legacy Image Armbian_5.04_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.110 there is still a wifi problem while booting. Correct? For more than one minute the boot process hangs showing following error message: "A Start Job is running for LSB: Raise network interfaces" After one minute the boot process continues. The wlan0 connection gets somehow established. But it is slowly und not really stable. root@cubietruck:~$ cat /etc/network/interfaces auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-ssid My-SSID wpa-psk My-Password auto lo iface lo inet loopback root@cubietruck:~$ lsmod Module Size Us…

  94. I tried to boot my brand new OrangePi PC Plus without SD card, and it boots to some Chinese OS. However, if I boot it with Armbian, it boots to Armbian. So my question is, is there some kind of "BIOS" or similar firmware preloaded on these devices? And if yes - is it possible to remove it with something else?

  96. Good day friends, For some time now I've been trying a DAC (dac-pcm5102mk-i2s) with the Orangepi Pc Plus OS "Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.19.62-sunxi" to put into operation. Unfortunately without success so far. On another Orangepi Pc Plus with Ubuntu Xenial with Armbian Linux 3.4.113-sun8i I activated the DAC after the tutorial I2S on Orange Pi H3 Da Alchemist February 29, 2016. It works fine there. Debin strech does not have a script.bin that I could convert in order to be able to make the settings. I would be happy if someone could help me. Best regards Hans-Jürgen Grigoleit

When tweaking Armbian’s Build System I understand that it also builds u-boot and updates it when new sources are available. I understand, that the last one was updated on : [🌿] {u-boot:1} Cleaning u-boot tree [ u-boot-worktree/u-boot/v2024.01 for '' ] [🔨] [Mon Aug 25 11:11:25 PM CEST 2025] Running: git --no-pager clean -xfdq [🌱] Calling Python patching script for U-Boot: [ https://github.com/u-boot/u-boot - tag:v2024.01 ] [🌱] Using U-Boot patch dir: [ u-boot-sunxi ] Where is the latest build could be downloaded from and what is its flash procedure and recovery (if necessary) ?

Hi, I would like to ask, if Armbian is compatible with newer Cubieboard5 / Cubietruck Plus? I saw that Cubieboard4 is supported and older Cubietruck too, but I can't find if the Cubieboard5 is supported. Thanks for info. T.

  99. Hello. I have an Orange Pi Zero board with Armbian on it. I want to use its serial pins for flashing arduinos. Right now I only have 1x3 serial pins and 1x13 media (?) pins soldered, the 2x13 GPIO doesn't have any pins and I don't have any spare ones to solder (alright, I might have some, but I'm too lazy for that). That means I only have access to UART0 pins which are currently reserved for Linux console. With RPi Zero and Raspbian the same problem was solved by simply removing "console=ttyAMA0,115200" from kernel options. However, Armbian seems to generate kernel options entirely from armbianEnv.txt, making it impossible to manually remove ser…
