  2. I’m using an Orange Pi 3B running Armbian Trixie Minimal as a headless SBC. It has been working fine for a couple of months, but after a recent reboot, it failed to connect to the network. After connecting an HDMI cable to troubleshoot, I realized the system is no longer auto logging in; it gets stuck at the login screen. Once I log in manually, I found that the wired network (Ethernet) isn't working at all, though wireless is functioning fine. I even tried flashing the latest image from the website, but the issues persist. To summarize, I have two main problems: - Wired connection (Ethernet) is not working. - The system no longer auto-logs in after bo…

  3. Hi, I would like to enable 4K output for my new monitor connected to a NanoPi M4V2 running Armbian based on Ubuntu Bionic legacy. I have searched for some days now, but could not find a solution. I would be very glad, if someone could just point me to the right direction on how to configure the Armbian desktop environment for 4K.

  4. Hello, friends... The current MIPI DSI driver provided by Rockchip Inc. in older U-Boot versions (v2023 and earlier) is not compatible with U-Boot’s uclass subsystems.(a waste of time if you want to develop). I have done extensive research and made modifications to several files to make it work with the latest U-Boot versions. I have tested it with U-Boot 2023.10, 2024.10 and v2025.rc3 on orange pi 4 lts, and it works perfectly. I'm attaching the necessary files for those who need them. This u-boot driver is nearly identical to Rockchip's Linux kernel driver, uses same driver file but there some limitations because of u-boot system, bu…

I'm building a portable battery powered NAS because syncing and having everything multiple times on all my Android devices sucks. I took my old Banana Pi connected a SSD to the SATA port and made it a access point (no Samba yet installed). Booting from the 16GB SanDisk Ultra A1 is 27 seconds. Moving everything to the SSD in armbian config is also 27 seconds (no difference?) I know the Banana has not the fastest SATA and NIC and that USB 3 on the Rock64 is faster. But i don't copy tons of gigabyte to the device everyday and for streaming over the WiFi stick it's fast enough. I'm interested on the boot time of the Rock64 (e…

  8. Hello, I'm trying to use a NanoPi M4 with an old TV. When the system boots, the TV displays "Invalid resolution." However, it works with a different TV, which unfortunately I cannot use full time. I note that on the working TV, there's a line in dmesg stating "Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 240x67" which would imply that this can be configured somewhere?? However I tried searching, the only docs I get are outdated, for other hardware, or don't work. I tried adding 'disp.screen0_output_mode=1280x720p60' to /boot/armbianEnv.txt, but it had no effect. A pointer as to where these settings are actually controlled would be very helpful. Thanks

To continue discussion from Helios64 Support Currently there is no plan to support to disable the power but it's interesting to know such use case. If we implemented this feature, you would need to go u-boot prompt to enable and disable the power. would this acceptable for you? Under Linux device tree, the power rail declared as regulator node with regulator-always-on property. This prevent kernel (and user) to turn off the regulator. Unless we are able to create device node for the SATA port, to act as consumer of the regulator, we can't remove the regulator-always-on property.

  51. Hello There! I'm currently using a Rock 4SE, tagged it as 4B because armbian says I should use the version for the board. I'm using a manually built image of armbian, though without any changes. I'm currently trying to figure out how to get faster boot times on SDDMC. So far: 1 - I've disabled some systemd services. Bluetooth related services have made a big difference. 2 - I've tried to disable USB and network support on U-Boot, though unsuccessful, in order to make U-Boot spend less time before booting the kernel. By applying some patches to U-Boot I got to the point where it either compiles and doesn't start the system because of some …

Had anyone tested DAS mode performance with Capture One? Or could someone explain to me how it works? Also, would C1 show the DAS mode and NAS mode as seperate volumes or is it smart enough to show up as the same one? Background: Capture One doesn't work well with network drives. Editing images, moving raw files, even saving catalog backups is dramatically slower on a NAS than a DAS or internal drive. It doesn't matter how fast the drive or network is. When i first started this task, the output from gpio readall would show me all 26 pins on the board. As i was digging through some forums to try and get the PWM pin to operate as on/off, i came across wiringOP and when i installed it, the output of `gpio readall` changed to only show 8pins. I am unsure of what went wrong and why it only shows 8 pins. I tried removing wiringOP and it still has not made a difference. Thanks

If anyone in the US is looking for a Helios64 but don't want to wait for the next batch, I'm prolly selling mine. I wanted to use this because it uses a lot less power and I wanted the computer for another project, but I don't have the time to screw with it trying to get it to actually function. If no one wants it, I'm just going to strip the case down as a HDD enclosure and cut my losses.

I'm finding that the Debian distro is very sluggish compared to the Ubuntu distro. The desktop is sluggish in responding to mouse clicks and in Chromium, a basic web page takes about 3 seconds to display compared to about 1 second with Ubuntu. Is this the same performance difference that other people are finding with these distros on the Rock64? Is there some configuration tweak I need to make to improve Debian performance? Is there another distro that I should check out that would give me better performance?

Then I'll use Armbian config to install the OS onto the EMMC when I am ready. The Kobol Wiki talks about first installing uboot from an SD card. Is that actually needed? Also, do I really need to set up a serial terminal session? I usually just SSH into the box (I know find the IP address via my DHCP server) and configure everything from there.
