Thanks to this forum I had installed Armbian buster and it's been running really well and stable for 3 years. For the first time I've arrived at an issue which makes me revisit and also because I have forgotten most of the stuff. Back in the day balbes150 had a bunch of ready made images available and you picked the correct device tree after flash. Appears those links no longer work. I don't want to do a massive upgrade, just from buster to bullseye on my week play 2 box (s905h only uses 4w when running) My question is where can I get those old images again. Or a newer resource for ready made images that will work on my box.

Hello, i think i bricked my H96 Pro Plus, like a year ago i installed Armbian on it. Today i flashed a SD with a new version, reinstalled octoprint etc and finally tried to burn it to the emmc using "./install-aml.sh" it seemed to work the process ended and i powered it off, removed the SD and tried to boot it up. The only thing i see is the H96 Pro+ Logo and thats it. I tried to boot from the SD Card again but it didn't work. I reflashed the SD card, changed the dtb file etc, just to make sure it would boot normally but nothing. Im at that point where i think its bricked and i need to do some maskrom magic but i have no idea what to bridg…

I’m using the DEVMFC version [https://github.com/devmfc/debian-on-amlogic]. Additionally, I took the `/boot` partition and copied all the files from the Devmfc_Ubuntu-Oracular_6.12.11-meson64_Minimal-25.01.24.img.xz image. Then, I downloaded the same version available from the Armbian community, but with a graphical interface: Armbian_community_25.5.0-trunk.4_Aml-s9xx-box_noble_current_6.12.12_xfce_desktop.img.xz. I first flashed the Armbian image onto a USB drive. Then, in the `/boot` partition, I moved all existing root files into a `/backup` folder. After that, I copied the files from the DEVMFC version into the root of the `/boot` partition on the USB driv…

Hi, I'm trying to repurpose my Vero 4k (not 4k+) by installing Armbian on it. The device is based on the S905X and it looks like the most recent versions include a dtb for 4k, thanks to the work done by chewitt. I used the AMLogic s9xx TV Box edition and followed these instructions in the forums to copy the dtb and u-boot. However, I'm having some trouble getting the device to boot into an SD card flashed with the Armbian image. I was wondering whether anyone else has some experience with this. Here's what I tried so far: Downloaded and extracted the image (I used the Minimal/IoT version) Wrote the image to an SD Card (tried two …

Hello. I'm trying to install Armbian on my KI pro coming from Coreelec, I've succesfully restored the boot logic using this https://wiki.coreelec.org/coreelec:restore and selected the right u-boot, it boots ok. Ive tried several dtb files but no one works like expected, also tried my current dtb from coreelec but same behaviour. I have these messages like this one [ 164.092003] meson-gx-mmc d0070000.mmc: unaligned sg len 720 blksize 512, disabling descriptor DMA for transfer and also some other related to eth port. I guess its due to kernel version or armbian itself version (tried the latest community maintained for tv boxes). My questi…

I have a tx3-mini 1G-ram 8G-Rom device and I installed the versions images available on the site on it. I have three questions: why does it stop working when I update the operating system? - The site of benchmark says that the s905w cpu has a speed of up to 2GHz, but my system does not speed up more than 1.2 GHz. And the last question: some of the images available on the site are installed on it, and some are not. The ones that work also stop working with the update. Of course, not with a single update, when it works for a week, you update it during the week, and from some point on, it will not boot again. This is because my device is fake?

Hello guys, it's day i'm trying everything to let my S905x TV Box run Armbian but i keep struggle at toothpick multiboot. Hi all, and thanks you all so much for sharing time, effort and knowledge about this boxes. I'm reading this forum a lot and also learned from advanced users. Hello, I have an issue with my box, which keeps freezing without any apparent error signals. Hi, I have these 3 Android TV boxes, chipset : Amlogic S905D Quad core ARM Cortex-A53 Amlogic S905-B, Quad core Cortex A53 Amlogic S905 Quad Core Which of these boxes can have Armbian installed on it, specifically onto the internal eMMC memory? I am willing to use even older versions of modified armbian that can be installed on the emmc without upgrading. Especially if it can be installed in emmc. If it is not possible to install it in the internal emmc memory, how can I at least use the internal emmc memory for data (Boot from SD card, use internal memory for data) ?

Hello guys! I have a T95Z Plus TV BOX with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and an arm S912 CPU. I can run Armbian just fine from the SD card, but when I try to install it on the eMMC, I get an error message saying something like, "You're already running from eMMC, or the eMMC was not found." And, obviously, I'm not running from eMMC, so it seems like the system just isn't detecting it. I did some research, and it seems like there might be different eMMC manufacturers for the same T95Z Plus model. So, I might need to adjust the "Max frequency" parameter in the .DTB file for the T95Z Plus in order for Armbian to recognize the eMMC on my device. D…

Got Armbian to run on those $20 TV Boxes sold at Wal-Mart. Likely will not be doing a PR. That said, it pulls the latest armbian source when building. https://github.com/sicXnull/Onn4K-TV-Box-Armbian Needed: OTG Cable (required) USB Hub (recommended) USB to Ethernet adapter (recommended) Working HDMI Audio Bluetooth Wi-Fi Building: git clone https://…

Hi, I'm new to the Armbian community, but I have used Linux before. Recently, I followed this tutorial: https://i12bretro.github.io/tutorials/0316.html to flash Armbian 20.10 Bullseye on what I suspect is a fake TX3 Mini. It has a red motherboard probably not a p-281 board, it could be a q201_N device as twrp said before installing Armbian. Anyways, Armbian detects 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage in it. It most likely has either an S905X or S912 CPU since I used "u-boot-s905x-s912" during the process. After flashing the SD card with Armbian, I was able to boot successfully. I then installed Armbian using the terminal with "inst…

Hello all, did any body able to login to Cinnamon version (screen shot below from here ) ? The box is A95X F3 Air first edition. For me it Bootes well and after root and user passwords are set it shows up desktop login screen and then after user login the desktop simply goes blank. On reboot again user login screen appears on the desktop but again blank screen after login. On the other hand the Armbian 24.8.0-trunk.399 Bookworm Gnome worked fine. I don't want any troubleshooting or run through logs and spend time on this but if any body faced such issue before just reply back if this happened with your box as well.

Hi there! Firstly, a huge thank you to all the maintainers for this amazing project. I was hoping you could assist me with two questions: Which version of Armbian (Desktop or Server/IOT) would be better for running TVHeadend on my device? How can I add the DVB-S2 drivers to my device? I've come across this post: However, I'm unsure how to add those drivers myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I have recently found this great project and have converted my old unused and dusty s9xx TV Boxes to ARMBIAN for use as remote NAS and other applications. I have X96 Max Plus 2 T, Beelink GT1, and 2x Beelink MiniMXIII II (total of 4 boxes). For the Beelink MiniMXIII II I used the meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb out of the box and it works great (100Mbit Ethernet and WIFI) For the X96 Max Plus I had to go to https://github.com/ophub/amlogic-s9xxx-armbian/releases and extract and use the meson-sm1-x96-max-plus.dtb file (Gbit Ethernet works but WIFI doesn't) For the Beelink GT1 I again extract and used (from https://github.com/ophub/amlogic-…

Hi, I have an old Android 6 TV box that is slow (1GB ram), i think it's an S905 because it's the only kernel that can boot and its mainboard is a "gxbb p200" as I see on Aida64 : I just tried to boot the Armbian_community_24.8.0-trunk.139_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.6.33_minimal.img I flashed it on a 16GB microSD card on an SD card adapter. Then I added the line : FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-gxbb-p200.dtb just after the lines label Armbian_community kernel /Image initrd /uInitrd fdtdir /dtb/ into extlinux.conf file. and then I renamed the u-boot-s905 file to u-boot.ext But the s…

After trying to update using an SD card, my box powers on but does not send anything to display. I have previously tried to flash using USB 2 cable with the USB burning tool but I get a "Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initailize status/USB Control setup error" message at 2%. I have tried 3 different files to the same effect, hence why I used SD cars and I am unable to fix the box using the USB tool. I need a boot image so I can try to fix it via SD card but I cannot find one anywhere. Please does anyone have a boot image I can use or can point out where I can find one or a way of fixing this by SD image?

In at least a couple of occasions, my AMLogic box failed to boot after an attempted upgrade of `armbian-bsp-cli-aml-s9xx-box-current`. I did not keep a detailed report of the first time it happened, but at the time I am pretty confident it was due to the issue addressed in PR #6287. Now, it happened again, I believe following PR #6659. Maybe @SteeMan you can take a look?

Hello everyone, I tried to erased data from settings menu to start fresh again and prepare this old box not used to give it to another family member. Probleme is that the process reset to factory was shut down before it ended (was taking ages).. So now it doesn't boot properly. I tried to operate wipe data / reset factory in recovery mode but ended in an error (mount failed). Also now i don't have operational remote.. 1)How to reset it properly ? 2)Is there any software to do that ? (i downloaded Aml_burn_tool recently but need help with which image should i load ? 3) Is there any way to force the box to boot …

Problem: It starts to boot, I see the Armbian splash screen, it stays for around 10 seconds then goes back to console with the (initramfs) prompt. Last 2 lines of boot process are: Begin: Loading essential drivers . . . done. Begin: Running /scripts/pre-mount . . . (initramfs) [ 37.824201] random: crng init done (initramfs) I got it to boot once into GNOME by putting a USB flash drive with the burned image AND a SD card at the same time. But that was only once and I could never repeat it. This happens on both versions of the X96 I have. And I've followed everything here: I've tried bookworm…

Hello, I have a ZTE B866V2 tv box that has an Amlogic S905X2 - b processor. Try to install armbian in all possible ways, with different versions and methods, always following the instructions on the forum. My problem is that when I try to boot from the SD, the TV box simply starts its own operating system and does not load armbian. I got my TV box because my television company gives them to watch programs, but after I no longer paid for the service they gave them to me. They run a modified android tv system. I mention all this because I keep in mind that it could be the root of my problems. I leave you the link of the exact model: https://www.androidtv-g…

This is an Android TV box using the 922 chipset. Under Android, I have been using stock firmware but also recall trying that from the Ugoos AM6. I have managed to get it to boot using u-boot-s905x2-s922. I have tried several of the DTB files starting with the g12b prefix. I had initial high hopes that the one for the Ugoos would work. And it did boot all the way into the desktop (I have auto-login enabled) but the mouse would not move nor would the keyboard respond. Since then I have tried many others - still working my way through them all one-by-one. And I have found some (gtking-pro.dtb, gsking-x.dtb) that appear to work pretty "normally" (not that I am sur…

Many years ago, I fooled around and managed to get this old, Android TV box to boot/run Armbian from external SD card. As I recall, I followed Steelman's instructions. It appears to have kinetic (Unbuntu?) installed. I ended up not really using it and it went back into a box. Now I have a use for it. I want to run this software. And all of my apt commands fail in one way or another: bad repository (I changed to old-releases and that "helped"), then no release file (so I used insecure options on apt and that "helped" a bit but ultimately failed again), etc. So I guess I am being forced to upgrade. But all of the suggestions I have found to do this f…

So i've been using the build: "Armbian_community_24.8.0-trunk.6_Aml-s9xx-box_jammy_edge_6.8.10" and trying to burn it with balenaEtcher. The issue is that when ending to verify and configuring - inserting the sd card into a TX3 Mini (board is v1.6) goes into a bootloop. This does happen with all of my sd cards and flash drives, and no, its not that they're faulting, CoreELEC does flash and boot correctly in all of them. I also did the f3 test, and no issues were found. Something particular that I have found is that macOS does detect very easily the corruption and ejects the drive/card, while Windows just lets it pass "as intended" I'…

Hi, I'm using the image Armbian_23.02.2_Aml-s9xx-box_bullseye_current_6.1.11.img on my Box TV Tigre 2 with Amlogic S905x processor and the dtb meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb and all the things I need are working, except the HDMI Audio output. Using the command "aplay -l" it shows no soundcards found but using the command lsmod | grep snd it shows different sound modules so I think it's a driver problem Also using armbian-config and going to system->hardware it shows an empty list. Any ideas on how to make it work?

Attempting Armbian install onto an S905. Hardware specs at https://specdevice.com/showspec.php?id=6653-4ac9-1101-570d0033c587 Kernel begins to boot but gets errors and never completes dropping into initramfs shell. Was able to capture the dtb blob from the Android kernel and decompiled it. Enough differences to the dtb files in the Armbian distribution that I cannot figure out how to create a dtb file that will work. Have looked for other files on the internet but haven't come across something similar yet. Booting gets stuck in a loop of: meson-gx-mmc d0072000.mmc: no support for card's volts mmc0: error -22 whilst initialisin…

Hi all, I have some x905 boxes and I'd like to use one (an old TX95 -> x905w IIRC) as a midi sequencer with fluidsynth. I found the hard way that the default kernel has no midi sequencer support (in kernel or module) so there's no way to use aconnect and have it as a midi box. The only solution seems to be rebuild the kernel with the added module support but it's been decades since last time i rebuilt a kernel and S905 kernels (with added balbes150 mods and stuff to have it working on those cheap boxes) seems a bit too complex for me. So the question is: is there a way to get a working kernel with midi support, and how to put it in. If this was…

Hi Guys, I was trying to install Armbian in a couple of boxes buit I had no luck. One is a SEI500W from SEI Robotics with AML 905X2 and the other is a Sagecom DIW 585 with AML 905X I followed the process and after trying to boot to recovery they start Andoid tv as normal (just takes more time). In the other hand I was able to run EMUELEC (Gaming emulator) on both devices with an image on SD so I'm assuming the problem is not a block. What do you think? Is there any ideas to try? Thank you in advance!

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I would like to know which recent version of ARMBIAN I can install on my X96 Max+ TV box (2GB ram and 16GB version). I can't boot into the armbian. It hangs at "waiting for a root file system", and repeats the line many times. Then says "Give up waiting for root file system device. Then, " Alert UUID=UUID-number-here does not exist, dropping to shell". It is armbian 24.5 image and dtb file is /dtb/amlogic/meson-sm1-sei610.dtb. I created the u-boot.ext from u-boot-s905x3 file. What I am missing? I tried to stop the autoboot, but it starts with 0 and doesn't even count. Here is the screenshot https://imgur.com/a/9dYm2B9

I have an OTT TV Box, model ABOX-A1 ( 1G + 8G, S905X ). It is running Armbian 23.11.1 bookworm. How can I have hardware video decoding? Hardware video decoding support seems present in the 6.1.63-current-meson64 kernel. It seems only the V4L2 M2M API is present. Some firmware seems missing. I was getting "meson-vdec c8820000.video-codec: Direct firmware load for meson/vdec/gxl_h264.bin failed with error -2" in dmesg. I don't know what package I need to install. I was thinking maybe firmware-linux-nonfree, but that conflicts with armbian-firmware due to firmware-ralink. The files are available at https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-fi…
