I have a dead H96 Max, S905x3, 4GB/128GB. After an apt upgrade and reboot it never came to life. I use the Single Image, boot from eMMC. WIll not boot recovery either (pin in audio slot pressing the buttin). Red LED is on. fter 5s or so TV stops saying no signal and goes to an almost dark screen that becomes black. Also tried with SD card, with and without recovery button. Guess a hardware issue ? Will I get anything usable from soldering a serial port connection ? eMMC is marked SDINAFF4-128G, made in Taiwan, so possible a Sandisk quality component. But they etched the brand name away. Hello everyone, I am not having any luck with the wifi on the H96 Max X3. I see posts saying the wifi on this box work with meson-sm1-sei610-ethfix.dtb / meson-sm1-H96max-X3.dtb or h96max-x2-test-bus80-gpu-volt.dtb but they are not working for me. I did put the BCM4335C0.hcd in /lib/firmware/brcm and the driver apparently loaded. Everything else seems to be working ok. A few posts mentioned it works with kernel 5.6rc1 and 5.7 but I couldn't find those images. I have found this GREAT post by odroidn2user explaining hardware acceleration info and status in Amlogic devices. Sincerally i don't really understand why so many people say bad thing of tvboxes with armbian.. i work daily with tvboxes and sold a few hundreds.. and i used dozens for installing coreelec, libreelec, armbian and home assistant in it and yes, they give a bit more work to set up than some well known boards specifically designed for development builds, but after everything is installed and set up, it's very rare for them to give any issues.. and you pay just a fraction of the cost and have hardware very close to the best recommended boards, and sometimes even better hardware.. what i recommend is using the more known ones and use good sdcards.. sincerally.. stop spreading …

Hello! I have an issue with my hk1 box. I cannot connect to WiFi. I see a lot of networks but when I trying to connect it says “couldn’t find <BSSID>”. Tried to set static & DHCP IP, factory reset the box and rebooted the router. I have a TX5 PRO that i flashed with Armbian a while back. Yesterday i decided to upgrade to the latest focal image from this forum (was running an RC version of focal). Booting into the image worked fine, and flashing it to emmc didn't give any errors. However, now the board will not boot. The end user need is that users (I think this is especially true of TV box users) think of Armbian for TV boxes like a standard linux distribution. What this means is that they expect to receive security updates and critical bug fixes. They are after all trying to run home servers and desktops on this platform. I'm coming from libreelec looking for a less limited operating system keeping mediacenter features of libreelec (mostly kodi) I installed Armbian_5.44_S9xxx_Debian_stretch_3.14.29_server_20180601.img.xz (it boots only versions with 3.14 kernel, others don't work), I found that it has not wifi drivers because it is not working, just eth0 is shown with "ip a". I have a E-Z STREAM TI8 box, I have managed to boot from armbian but the installation cant execute as my mmcblk1 is not setup according to the script. This is how the partitions look like mmcblk1boot0 mmcblk1boot1 mmcblk1rpmb. Is there a risk for me to redo the partitions and run the install script? As I see it if I do this it could brink the box. I also tried to extract the dtb from mmcblk1boot0 without any luck... anyone that has a good howto for this?

I installed Armbian_5.60_Aml-s9xxx_Ubuntu_xenial_default_4.18.7 to the EMMC of my s905x TV Box , so far so good . Yesterday I trimmed some drivers and built the kernel successfully . Is there a combination of Armbian and DTB that supports Wifi on H96-Max-X2? I am currently using Armbian_19.11.5_Aml-g12_buster_dev_5.5.0-rc3_desktop_20191228.img + meson-g12a-sei510.dtb, I tried same OS with meson-g12a-x96-max.dtb, which cannot even make Ethernet work. Hey everyone, don't tear me up too much, but its been maybe 25 years since I have dabbled with any *nix type environment. Recently tinkering around, I installed Armbian on my TX3 Mini Android box. No complaints, feels like I am getting back into the swing of things again. But for some reason, I cannot figure out how to turn off the screen saver / maybe power managent IE: Black screen. It goes black after 10 minutes or so and I just wanted to keep it on. Spent a few days trying things on and off from suggestions I found online, but nothing seems to work. FYI I dont have xscreensaver installed either. Thanks!

I wanted to install Balbes' Armbian image on Mecool KM8P but failed miserably: At first it took me weeks to get my KM8Ps into recovery mode, only to realize that the better/best installation procedure is via the stock Android update routine. Unfortunately I now have 3 KM8P showing the same behaviour: They always boot into the recovery mode, showing the defunct Android with the "No command" message. I can't get out of the recovery mode back into Android to do a "normal" installation via the update routine. And I can't figure out how to install @balbes150 images from the recovery mode. Hello, i installed the newest ubuntu img on the box(aside on the sd card running). Now i get through the setup questions for logon. Only error i get is that the logon server doesn't work well. Anyway it boots now saying 'light display manager' started successfully, but there's no graphic gui to be seen. All the control f buttons don't work, or i get a scrambled screen but no gui. Can someone tell me what i can do to get into the graphic user interface? I was already doing the putty logon thing.

If you dont need GPIO then you are probably better off looking at TV boxes or boards intended for that market instead of an SBC. That market is starting to see PCIe and USB3 attached 4x4 wifi chips and at very cheap prices. I brought back some dirt cheap RK3399 TV box boards back from China in June with AP6255 (2T2R) chips that perform much better than expected as an AP for upto 5-6 simultaneous clients. I think if I'd like to make tvbox the best choice in terms of video quality would be using android, right? Thing is I hate android, I love linux. I'm at my wit's end here, I've tried all I can think of. I have this Mecool M8S Pro, I've been trying to root it, flash twrp, and install armbian. There is no way to access bootloader, or maybe it's the same as recovery. When I put armbian on an sdcard and made an armbian_first_run.txt file, I first tried using the update app. I picked the aml_autoscript.zip, and confirmed the update, then a message pops up and says "shutting down", then nothing I've left this for a long time and the box never comes back on. Odroid C2 is more on par with this Android boxe real value, for me, was probably the time I spent figuring this out and I thought I might as well share it. Hi i installed an armbian img dirictly to the emmc, and i want to make a backup img file of it after installing and config few things on it! i can't use the "ddbr" command cuz it's already installed directly to the emmc. is there any other way?
