According to https://linux-sunxi.org/Optimizing_system_performance adding export XDG_CACHE_HOME="/dev/shm/.cache" to /etc/alternatives/x-session-manager does some good to desktop performance.

Hi guys, thanks in advance for helping. I flashed a usb (32G Lexar) with the image Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_buster_current_5.9.0.img.xz Next I booted up via the "Update&Backup" on a T95K Pro based on Amlogic S912 with 16G of internal storage and 2G of ram. After apt-get update and apt-get upgrade I decided to move Armbian from the USB to the internal storage (emmc) So I ran the file "install-aml.sh" getting this output: Start script create MBR and filesystem /dev/mmcblk0 Start backup u-boot default 4+0 records in 4+0 records out 4194304 bytes (4.2 MB, 4.0 MiB) copied, 4.45454 s, 942 kB/s Start create MBR and partittion Start rest…

CloudnetGo CR19 (http://www.cloudnetgo.com/productinfo/138177.html) Has anyone dealt with this device? Is it possible to install Armbian on it? Which of the supported boards can this device be compatible with? Can any of the supported build configurations be used for this device? Or is it possible to install any of the prebuilt assemblies?

Settled here on using the AmiLogic S912 for my KODI boxes replacing the current Aopen Digital Engines. Purchased another AmiLogic S912 here to be utilized as a headless automation server running: 1 - Mono 2 - Homeseer 3 3 - Home Assistant - docker 4 - Node Red 5 - MQTT (and be a Mosquitto Server). Note mini automation server started with an RPi (years ago), MiniCube (dual AMD) then a Pine64 (currently running with Armbian). Moving this one to the Leviton Media panel. Looking to modify hardware a bit adding a RTC with battery. I have modded a few non RTC tabletop tablets and OpenWRT routers…

Hello! I have an issue with my hk1 box. I cannot connect to WiFi. I see a lot of networks but when I trying to connect it says “couldn’t find <BSSID>”. When I use the LAN cable it works. does anyone have any idea how to further troubleshoot this or have some knowledge or experience?

Hello everyone, I have two S905x3 boxes happily running Balbes150 20.08 Armbian build. I am trying to figure out how to make a working backup of the eMMC. Normally in a situation like this I would use Clonezilla, but that doesn't boot on these arm64 boxes. Should I make a bootable USB with one of Balbes150 images and use "dd" on /dev/mmcblk2 to an image file? Would I be able to then restore that image file with "dd" to another S905x3 box and have it boot?

Hello, As far as I read, there are not many (<100$) arm64 board to run linux armbian, kodi, maybe plex, capable of playing without issues 4k videos. I think if I'd like to make tvbox the best choice in terms of video quality would be using android, right? Thing is I hate android, I love linux. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there any good board around 50-80 $ to make a linux tv box? I'd just use it as an HTPC for playing video with a 4k tv attached to it and maybe some simple home media server. Thank you

hi guys, A while ago I got this x96 Max tv box in the hope to tinker with it at some point, but it turns out I am not able to even boot from the sdcard or USB.... Maybe I am overlooking something basic so I figured I ´d ask people more knowledgable tha me in this matters. The procedure I´ve tried so far is powering the device while pressing the button hidden in the AV plug. The screen just stays black until I power it off. I´ve tested witha few cards and drives, a bunch of OSes (armban, corelec, emuelec) and a bunch of image writing applications. I have not tried some app released by amlogic themselves that I grasped it exists…

I installed Focal Armbian ( Desktop version ) at my tvbox and everything is so far so good . Only a small issue hassles me : after the desktop launches , I had to use the mouse to click the desktop so that it can receive focus . Only after that , can I use the arrow keys to move the focus between icons. If I press the arrow keys just after desktop launches , nothing happens ---- obviously , sth. steals the focus . Is it a normal behavior as expected ? May I config sth. to avoid using mouse to retrieve the focus to desktop ? Thankyou for your attention :)

I've been running ARMbian on my "H96 Max" for 36 hrs now, ha in VLC, i have noticed that if i play the 720 in the native default window, and don't maximize it, it plays perfect with no dropped frames, but it still tears now and then !!. it's because the video does not have to be rescaled. So obviously, the problem is that Hardware Decoding will not work with VLC, and that VLC and ARMbian are just not optimized and not up to the job !!. I have heard that with my "H96 Max"ARM and almost any other SoCs, that they can just not handle the task in ARMbian and in general, , , i was suprized to see the 4 CPU's run a 50% !!, i expected it to be no more than 10 …

Hi guys, first post! I took the plunge and installed armbian on my android box. It boots and runs fine off SD but when I try to install to eMMC it just boots and hangs on the original Google TV splash screen. I noticed while reading tutorials that when I run and-sata-install it's supposed to ask me where to boot from, but all it does is copies all my files to /dev/data. How can I tell it to boot from eMMC? I notice near the end it says four times: /dev/boot: no Android Magic Value /dev/boot: not a valid Android Boot Image. Any help appreciated thank you!

My English isn't very smooth. First of all I'm sorry. I installed the arbian on a tv box. Model number X88 mini, Rockchip 3328, 2GB RAM, 16GB Flash. I installed version 5.75 Ubuntu rock64. The problem is that the internet does not connect. The WiFi and ethernet card certainly do not recognize. I've also installed and run the same version Debian and slackware onto this device. No one connects to the internet. I know it's a mismatch problem. These versions are designed for rock64. I want to use the X88 mini device as a Linux lover to be able to use. Can you help me? http://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/ROCK64_Main_Page

Hi folks, I have a Miniand MiniX Plus 1Gb version that I plan to use as a small home-server with OMV and video-grabbing from my IP cam with VLC. This will be attached to 2 old IDE HDDs via USB-IDE adapter. http://linux-sunxi.org/Pineriver_H24 It has 2 usb ports on the front and a very bad wifi adapter soldered to a usb port internally. I have desoldered the WIFI module to change it for a USB-Ethernet adapter. So I have 2 USB ports and one USB-OTG port. Previously I've used the legacy kernel with fex files modding the USB configuration, to make all 3 USB ports act as USB. Recently I've tried the mainline kernel and I can't make the OTG-USB port to act as a USB port. …

Hi all, I know this is a bit of a long shot given the age of the hardware, but I’m wondering if anyone here has ever experimented with running Armbian on an EVPad 2S (the old Android TV box). I’ve been tinkering with some older devices and thought it might be interesting to see if this one can be repurposed. I’ve attached a screenshot of the system info - unfortunately, it’s pretty sparse. The box is running Android 4.4.2 with kernel version 3.4.39, but the processor type is listed as “UNKNOWN,” and I haven’t found much documentation on the chipset or board layout. so before I dive deeper I wanted to ask: Has anyone managed to get Armbian (or…

Is there an updated distro for the RK3188 ? (Quad core A9, ARMv7) I have been looking around but not been able to find something newer than Ubuntu 12.02, or an old Linuxium Found this old stick in a drawer, and want to repurpose it to a headless Linux box. 2GB RAM. My goal would be to run Home Assistant on it, which does run on the Pi 3 Model B. So I assume the 20% better performance of the A53 would be offset a bit by having twice the RAM. I think it is better to repurpose it than to throw it out.

I have found this GREAT post by odroidn2user explaining hardware acceleration info and status in Amlogic devices. It answers most of the questions I've had since I first installed Armbian, maybe some admin can make a sticky. https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?t=36675 @balbes150 now I'm thinking about getting a RK3399 with a midgard GPU instead of a Ugoos AM6 Pro with S922X and a bifrost GPU. I have used the Armbian images created by Balbes150 on my VIM2 Max. Awesome software in all respects. If I use an image with the 3.14.29 kernel: 1. Framebuffer is correctly installed/configured 2. HDMI does not exist 3. Displaying EDID reported: No EDID on bus 1,2, or 4 Bus 3 doesn't really have an EDID... Couldn't find an accessible EDID on this computer However, if I use an image with the 4.16.1 kernel: 1. No framebuffer 2. HDMI detectable connected/disconnected 3. Displaying EDID detected contents correctly I wouldn't mind a 4096x4096 framebuffer so, if necessary, I can …

Is there a combination of Armbian and DTB that supports Wifi on H96-Max-X2? I am currently using Armbian_19.11.5_Aml-g12_buster_dev_5.5.0-rc3_desktop_20191228.img + meson-g12a-sei510.dtb, I tried same OS with meson-g12a-x96-max.dtb, which cannot even make Ethernet work. And I tried to use USB NIC, also not detected. Any suggestions please? Thank you!

First of all, I should mention that the TV box we got was probably a clone one. Original MXQ Pro 4K 5G has an Amlogic chipset. We got an old Allwinner H3 which to my recent knowledge is very old now. This was our first TV box purchase and yeah, admittedly, we should have searched deeper before purchasing anything. Luckily, we got the box dirt cheap.. around $20 only. It runs Android 7.1.2 which is good for media playback, but hella laggy even for light multitasking or even light web browsing. We bought the TV box hoping my siblings could seamlessly use it for their remote learning. I heard Beelink X2 has an H3 and used to have official Armbian support, so I grabbed the im…

I've used DroidCam on Windows 10 with no problems. The dev supports Linux, but for 64-bit binaries only. Is there any alternatives for Armbian? Even just microphone will do.. I am planning to repurpose my old android phone which barely runs any apps

For all fans of writing nonsense, spam, provocative messages, piracy ads, and so on. All your posts and topics will be deleted without warning. Information for everyone. The old Amlogic kernel contain a large number of Trojans and the security system is completely destroyed, which allows all sorts of freaks and scammers to access the system with these cores. Therefore, all information about images with old Amlogic cores will be deleted without warning.

The problem (Armbian on U9-H requires physical button after power loss) The discovery process (MCU at I2C bus 0, address 0x15, register 0x11) The fix: i2cset -y 0 0x15 0x11 0x00 The systemd service for persistence That 0x01 = button required, 0x00 = auto power on Note it likely applies to the Minix NEO U1 as well since it uses the same MCU

Hello, I have tested a lot of tv box to decode video, and lot use special kernel of vendor ( the kernel provide by android 3.14 ... ) with not completely opensource solution. And a guy (maxime jourdan) have make an "hack" of the amlogic, and use V4L2M_M2M to make the amlogic hardware decode with new kernel ( patch in 4.19 if i remenber ). It's not perfect ( the performance is poor than the special kernel ) but it's works and it's not a vendor solution and completely opensource . And the guy explain it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF6i19oscqg In english i can understand It's a french guy It's my new hero ...

I have a E-Z STREAM TI8 box, I have managed to boot from armbian but the installation cant execute as my mmcblk1 is not setup according to the script. This is how the partitions look like mmcblk1boot0 mmcblk1boot1 mmcblk1rpmb. Is there a risk for me to redo the partitions and run the install script? As I see it if I do this it could brink the box. I also tried to extract the dtb from mmcblk1boot0 without any luck... anyone that has a good howto for this?

Hi. Currently, I subscribe to IPTV service, and have it loaded on Kodi (Raspberry Pi 3b). I don't have full EPG. Also, it's slow switching channels. Don't feel like a TV at all. I was wondering if any of these Arm SBC can function like and actual STB provided by cable providers? My IPTV service requires me to load the url to m3u8. I'd like to have something that looks like this Currently, I think I have something that looks like this It's also super slow to start a channel. Is this normal IPTV behavior?

We are developing an open source TeamViewer alternative called HopToDesk, it is built for ARM and runs on RPI and may work on other ARM-based devices, we hope to find some help testing on Banana Pi or Android TV devices. If anyone could provide us some feedback or point us in the right direction, it would be great.

After following the main guide "Single Armbian image for RK + AML + AW" I've been able to boot into armbian via sd card without issue using the update method. Ethernet is working and nothing seems to be broken. However, trying to launch Armbian Config to install on eMMC doesn't work because after clicking to open the program a terminal pops up and disappears immediately, similar to how if you opened a command line program in windows just by clicking on it, it would close by itself. I'm not sure if this is a related problem but running terminal and trying to use su fails even though I'm certain I've got the password correct. I even reformatted and …

Hi. Currently using Kodi on Raspberry Pi. I also run IPTV service on the Kodi Raspberry Pi. It seems switching channels is slow, EPG seems limited as well. I want to know when I buy a TV box, does it come with OS? Can I just load the m3u file so it allows watching IPTV? Does it allow faster switching of channel than using a Raspberry Pi? So many questions regarding TV Box. But seems to me the forum has a lot of topics of people getting TV Box and repurposing the box as desktop. Why is this? Not really using it for IPTV?

Hi. PhoenixSuit: V1.10 Device: Tanix TX6s AllWinner H616 I noticed that in PhoenixSuit on the Apk tab the options: Backup, Restore, Install, Reboot, Recovery. I tried to use to backup the current installation. But PhoenixSuit only recognizes the device and connects with it to install the firmware. If the file for Firmware is not selected, PhoenixSuit will not connect with the device. Any tips? Or another solution to back up the installation? On the TX3 Mini I use TWRP to Backup and Restore, but is S905 Amlogic! Tks.
