  1. I installed various version of Debian and Ubuntu Server (CLI) of armbian in orange pi 5, but there is no uart selection in armbian-config. I think this is os version problem. Could you can see the uart select in armbian-config? If so, can you tell me what I am missing? I tried apt upgrade and apt update and armbian-install, but these updates did not get me the uart port selection. Thank you for your reply

  2. Hey there, I'm trying to use gstreamer as a video player for the tinkerboard 2 armbian build (Armbian Bookworm XFCE desktop stable). It seems that the VPU isn't used correctly, I only get about 20FPS for a 1080p mp4 video (h_264) and CPU flies to a 100%+. On the original and not so good orignal operating system (TinkerOS) there was an extra gstreamer sink plugin made for the RK3999 (rkimagesink). I tried to compile the original plugin from sources (https://github.com/TinkerBoard2/external-gstreamer-rockchip), but there are several dependencies missing and I can't find them either on github / apt. Any idea how to make gstreamer use th…

  3. Finally there is a proper tor-browser available for arm64/aarch64: 1. Goto https://nightlies.tbb.torproject.org/nightly-builds/tor-browser-builds/ 2. Navigate into: tbb-nightly.<date>/nightly-linux-aarch64/ 3. Download tor-browser-linux-aarch64-tbb-nightly.<date>.tar.xz 4. Unpack with tar -Jxvf and run tor-browser/start-tor-browser.desktop Yay! (I'm sure you can compile it too from their github page)

Hi - just wondering if there's something anyone can do to seed more of Armbian community maintained images - especially Rockpro64 and Rpi5 images. There seems to be only one seeder and just as I was typing this post, I got to download over a gigabyte of the Rockpro64 image but it's still not finished. It seems the seeder (?) was online for a moment but then seeding stopped. So if there's something someone can do, much appreciated!

  5. Hi, The package torsocks wasn't working and I could not understand why it was not. Torsocks configuration file: /etc/tor/torsocks.conf (default) specifies port 9050 # Default Tor address and port. By default, Tor will listen on localhost for # any SOCKS connection and relay the traffic on the Tor network. TorAddress 127.0.0.1 TorPort 9050 So port 9050 should be visible with netstat, but it was not: $ netstat -at tcp 0 0 127.0.0.53:domain 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 127.0.0.54:domain 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN $ Then I tried to enable tor.service, but got an error: …

It works fine, but recently i've reached the number of 78 torrents that i'm downloading and seeding, i do not think it's an high number of files shared. 7. Hi, I'm using Armbian 24.11.1 bookworm with a V6.6.62 64 bit Kernel on a NanoPi Neo2. To debug, I have a UART/Serial-to-USB connector attached. Other end is on a Windows 11 box where I use Putty. The setup works fine with one minor issue. During the print of the boot messages, suddenly the printed line width of lines with [ <status> ] is limited 70 columns. It starts shortly after the Welcome to Armbian 24.11.1 bookworm! message and a "…" character is used to shorten the lines. This part has normal line length: Welcome to Armbian 24.11.1 bookworm! I have now been able to build server images for Raspberry Pi 5B and Radxa 5C, both having gpu hardware driver support. However, this only works with Ubuntu Noble as a distro base. I would also like to make Debian Bookworm images, but when I do, I never get any gpu hardware driver support. Why is that? What's so special about Ubuntu (which basically is Debian)?

I have noticed that when building images using the same kernel but selecting Ubuntu or Debian base (Bookworm vs Jammy), some hardware doesn't work on one of the images. Since the kernel is identical, why is not the hardware support the same? Is there a different build script for the two bases? Different userspace drivers? Just wondering..

I'm trying to compile a java maven project and I've noticed that maven is unable to download dependencies from https repositories, I know that this problem is related specifically to https on armbian because I'm also unable to wget https repositories and it only works with the --no-check-certificate flag, I've tested on Ubuntu 22.04 on other two machines and it works, while on my armbian ones it doesn't, I've tested on my orangepi4 and on other 2 machines with x86 cpus that also runs armbian. I managed to install sway and sddm with the use of clearing the terminal. In sddm the top and probably the other sides of the screen gets cut off, It cuts off like half of the text at the top. First, thanks to you guys for the great work you are doing for armbian! I am quite impressed and very happy to be able to run my odroid devices (c2, m1) on the latest kernel with zfs and lxd! What I'm wondering: since there is no such thing as do-release-upgrade in armbian: What are your best practices for upgrades to avoid being forced to always install and configure everything from scratch? Since I run most everything in lxd containers and use zfs on a separate disk, upgrading is as simple as installing/compiling zfs and lxd and restoring the lxd databases, but maybe there is a better approach besides reinstalling and compiling packages?

Hi. Im sorry, if the question below has been already discussed and published somewhere, but i didnt find proper information. So, what i have: orangepi5max, https://github.com/armbian/build.git this armbian, https://github.com/rockchip-linux/kernel.git and this kernel, which is placed in armbian-build/kernel. I've tried to use "userpatches/linux-$LINUXFAMILY-$BRANCH.config" config from armbian manual, to specify path to kernel, but despite the fact that manual states, that my custom config should replace the default one, ./compile.sh ignores it. So what am i doing wrong and is it even possible nowadays to assebmle the image using local kernel or it is already restricted?

Hey, I've had issues using Wireguard in Armbian. I worked out a method to install but on reinstalls this method has run into problems. I've since developed a new method but am getting a strange error as below. Can anyone interpret this and tell me if it's likely to be problematic and if so is there a way forward? I've searched the Wireguard repository and there doesn't seem to be an arch specific buildset. TIA The /var/lib/dkms/wireguard/1.0.20210219/6.1.11-rockchip64/aarch64/dkms.conf for module wireguard includes a BUILD_EXCLUSIVE directive which does not match this kernel/arch. This indicates that it should not be built. Skipped.

I have a orange pi 5 plus board and I'm using armbian with the vendor kernel and I'm struggling to get widevine working without success. I've tried several online tutorials but none of them seem to work (but they also seem to be rather old).

When using X11VNC in SBC without a connected display, everything works well on some assemblies and the screen resolution is 1024 x 768. But I could change that in xorg.conf. But now, either in kernel 6.x.x, or in bookworm, I have a 720x576 composite video output resolution, since HDMI is not connected. And there is no way I can change the resolution and make sure that the composite video output is not used. HELP me

Running latest Armbian 23.02 Jammy XFCE on my Orange Pi 3 LTS. I need to change the color depth for Sky Chart which needs 16 or 24 bit. When I try to open the Display Setting I get the following pop up: Unable to open the Xfce Display Settings. Unable to query the version of the RandR extension being used. What's wrong and how do I fix it ? Thanks.

I run Armbian Trixie in my NAS, and I saw last week that the ZFS 2.4.0 was available here: https://apt.armbian.com/pool/trixie-utils/z/zfs-linux/(it will go to one of the mirrors). The problem is the package `zfs-zed` isn't available, so I got serious problems during the update (I run Openmediavault, btw). Any tips if it's a mistake and the package should be included, or `zfs-zed` is deprecated and I need to talk with OMV team to remove this dependency?

  57. Hello everyone, I'm currently working on a custom firmware project for the Allwinner V851S/V851SS SoC (e.g., dash cam or smart camera). I've reached the stage where I need to modify and re-sign the firmware images (TOC0/TOC1) for use with tools like PhoenixCard. Unfortunately, the tools found on GitHub (e.g., dragonsecboot, pack_tools, boot0, etc.) are often incomplete or fail to build due to missing references (e.g., rsa_sign_main, GetFullPath, etc.). 🔍 I'm looking for a complete and working version of the following tools: dragonsecboot pack boot0 sunxi_tools Full config files such as dragon_toc.cfg, sys_config.fex Working pac…
