Hello everyone, I have a nanopi r2s running the latest minimal focal image, and I'm having trouble with the network configuration. Context: I have an intranet connected to the LAN port (lan0), and my home network connected to the WAN port (eth0). The intranet does not connect to the internet, and both networks have functional DHCP servers on different IP ranges. For some reason the system thinks it should try to access the internet via my intranet, which is definitely not going to work. Suppose the intranet is 10.0.0.0/24, how can I tell the system to use this interface if and only if I'm accessing addresses that falls under this address …

  5. Hello! I bought an Orange Pi PC about two years ago which is still working perfectly to this day (very happy with it), but I am curious to know what would be considered the 'best' Single Board Computer at this time point time, which would be around the same price range ($15 USD). 'Best' being defined as having a decent processor, and good software support - which the Orange Pi PC eventually did. I'm tempted to just buy another one of these for another project, but interested to know. Again, the main factor is price - $15 USD or less would be ideal.

  6. Hey guys, I am pretty new to this. I am working on turning my Le Potato into a TV shuffler. I have decided to go with Armbian, since I can't SSH (which is required for the CoreElec method), because I use college internet, and it just isn't configured properly. I am currently trying to get a script going that will open a folder and begin randomly playing videos from within, but I cannot figure out where to start really. I think I need to import mpv into the script somehow, but I honestly cannot find any resources on how to do this. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

  21. I am looking to build a stable applicance that is updateable on demand / over-the-air in an atomic way. Ideally, it uses a dual-partition setup, where the is an active rootfs and an inactive one. On update, a new rootfs is streamed directly to the inactive partition, the device reboots to the new rootfs and - if everything runs according to plan - the new rootfs is committed as the new active one. If the reboot fails, the device reverts to the previous (still active) rootfs. This functionality is very common with embedded devices, many using the Yocto project. I'd like to try to use Armbian, however, building the image from source with my own userpatches and i…

  22. Hi, I just ordered a NEO2 that I intent to use as a Tvheadend backed. Actually will use two at different locations, the problem is with the kernel bug affecting the DVBSky S960 DVB-S2 USB tuner since a kernel commit in 4.10rc1 Luckily, this has been fixed recently, and there is a patch as well. The patch has been submitted for upstream devs LINK And LibreElec also included the patch and will be fixed (finally) in their next beta LINK I wanted to ask if it is possible to include this patch to Armbian kernel (maybe a beta or nightly) in order to make DVBSky S960 work? Many thanks!

  25. Hello, I am planning to desgin a Computer-on-Board, but would like to know what are the minimal specs needed for it to run a graphical user interface with a desktop. Doing a simple Google Search gives me two answers: "512 MB RAM memory, at least 8 GB of storage (on a quality SD card or eMMC), a 4-core processor, and wired networking. For a more advanced Armbian build framework, you'll require a system with at least 8GB of RAM and 50GB of disk space, although specific requirements vary depending on the hardware." My main issue with this is that it doesn't explain directly if 512 MB of RAM and a 4-core processor (and what frequency?) are enough for the most ligh…

As soon as I enter the password and hit enter I see the boot logo or console output depending on what is set in armbianEnv.txt. With this procedure, you will reinstall the u-boot, kernel, and hardware settings. In most cases, this is enough to unbrick the board. Hi, after apt upgrade, armbian-zsh package is upgraded and breaks ZShell on Armbian Focal Desktop. During initial setup of Armbian on Odroid C4, zsh has been selected as default shell. After recent upgrade of armbian-zsh package, shell is switched back to bash w/o notice. Unfortunately, armbian-config is not able to switch between shells, so I am stuck with bash and cannot return to zsh. Is there a way to switch between the shells manually and enable some kind of debug log to see what is going wrong switching shells? BTW: Switching between bash and zsh on a clean recent Armbian Focal Desktop installation is also not possible. So th…

I use this SD card with Cubieboard-3 (Cubietruck). And I have a backup of the entire root filesystem from that SD card. Now I've got second Cubieboard-3 device and I need a second SD card to boot the second device into the same OS with actual changes. The good approach would be to backup only CHANGES in some manner that would allow me to install fresh armbian to new SD card and them roll my changes to it. But instead, i started a stupid approach of doing this: just copied the entire filesystem to back…

Hi all, I am trying to use a MCP3426 I2C ADC chip with my NanoPi Duo2. I have compiled a custom kernel with the mcp3426 driver in it, but I can't get it to load. The problem seems to be that the chip uses address 0x68 which is the same address that the commonly used DS1307 RTC chip uses. I have blacklisted the ds1307 module which has stopped that module from loading, but somehow '/sys/bus/i2c/devices/0-0068/name' still claims to be a ds1307. My understanding is that you checkout the desired tag of the armbian/build repo and just build it. However, when I do this with v24.2.1 the image that comes out is named 24.5.0-trunk. Changing the version in the VERSION file (by default set to 24.5.0-trunk) changes the name of the output image, but it is not clear to me if that affects other things than just this. 95. I have recently managed to get SPI boot to USB SSD working on my Odroid N2+. However, to get there, I had to manually set setenv rootdev "/dev/sda1" in my /boot/boot.cmd With that set, SPI boot works. My understanding is, that I should let boot.cmd unchanged (rootdev "/dev/mmcblk0p1") and armbianEnv.txt should do its magic, but the rootdev setting in armbianEnv.txt is simply ignored upon SPI boot and it fails to boot, as it tries to load the root fs from SD card... Hi! I have a Banana Pi Pro running last Armbian v5.20 via SD card. There is 2 usb HD 2TB connected.I create a software RAID1 /dev/md0 with the 2 usb hd dev/sda1 & dev/sdb1 mounted as /mnt/md0. Up to now all is working fine. My goal, put the root on that raid1. The script nand-sata-install does not reconize 'md' device, only 'sd' device so i did a very litte modification to the script to reconize 'md'. The script run fine and it transfert all from the SD card to the 'md' (raid) but after the reboot,,,,, nothing, the system wont start. I am not a linux expert but i think that the problem is that the raid must be start from /boot (still on SD card) before the system …

  100. Hello. I've tried a kernel I build using the tool orange pi provides, that kernel boots with a good HDMI resolution. However, when I use the default kernel that comes with my fresh armbian installation, I can't get the HDMI resolution to 480p. I set the resolution in boot parameters. I'd appreciate any help.
