It seems my OrangePi Prime was loosing stability over the years. It was working fine initially, then it was hanging up from time to time - and now it no longer can boot on stock armbian settings. It bootloops on "Starting kernel ..." in serial console. But when I set voltage to 1.3v in armbianEnv.txt - it booted ok. So it seems to be a hardware issue. Does anyone know if there is CPU VDD test point somewhere, or which regulator is responsible for CPU voltage?

Hi, I'm running Armbian 20.11.6 Buster with Linux 5.9.14-mvebu, on a ClearFog Base. This is (or will be) a production machine, so I'd like to keep it stable where possible. The default OpenSSH version in the stable Armbian build is 7.9. openssh-server/stable,now 1:7.9p1-10+deb10u2 armhf I need to update this package to a version greater than v8.1. By switching to the nightly Ambian build, I see the package is at version 8.4, but I don't know if running the nightly build is great on a production machine. Before I do anything stupid, could I get some feedback about the recommended/safest way to upgrade this package? …

Hi. Has anyone managed to properly install can4linux on the latest bananian? I used the guide: http://forum.lemaker.org/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13107 But bananian-1501 is no longer supported and there is no way to properly use it. I'm trying to get the orange pi lite 2 to work with a desktop image, but the images i find on the armbian site are server only (no interface). If possible, i'd like some help with choosing an actual desktop image that has a compatible working kernel for this board. Can anyone point out a specific version or provide a download link? if so, thanks.

NOTE: Despite similar topic names, a search did not find a topic which even remotely addressed my topic on this site. I have an OrangePi Pcplus on which I have successfully transferred my working system from SD card to the on-board EMMC. Now, on the assumption that the EMMC may eventually become corrupted or the board dies. (Hey, __it happens!) I need to create, from the currently running system, an SD card which I can plug into a brand new Orange Pi PCplus and have it boot from that card the system I was was running on the old board at the time I made the backup - which I can then transfer to the new board's EMMC. Obviously, this same S…

Hi i have 2 drives connected to my Cuboxi 4pro imx6. A sata drive and a usb drive. This time I got this with update from 5.10.3-dev to 5.10.4-dev with armbian buster I had the Network-Manager deinstalled and did see my IP which I did configure via /etc/networks but couldnt arrive the K1Plus via ssh/ping and when I used a TTL-RS232 on the K1Plus I cant ping anything in my network or the internet. I have an OrangePi +2E with the latest version of armbian. Yesterday, after a sudo apt-get upgrade, chromium upgraded to 87.0.4280.88 (Build) built on Debian 10.7. After that chromium has become useless: probably the slowest browser ever. In case you ask: I've removed all the extensions and uninstalled the browser and then installed again. nothing changed. The older version worked just "fine" (relative to what an orange pi can offer in terms of performance, of course) Is this the end of internet browsing on armbian?

Hello, Someone up for this? I am trying my best to extend the PPS device tree overlay in order to support additional capabilities of the PPS kernel driver. In particukar, I want to have the "echo" pin working. (The echo pin is supposed to be an output that makes it possible to measure the latency between the pps pulse and the actual kernel timestamp). I have (tried my best) to modify the existing overlay as follows (the PD14 pin in the overlay is modified by the fixup script to be PA6): /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun8i-h3"; fragment@0 { target = <&pio>; __ove…

Hello there, My board had just rebooted with no notice, so I wanted to take a look at /var/log/syslog in order to diagnose the issue, but for some reason, there are no logs between Dec 30 and the moment my board rebooted. Why are logs missing? What do I need to do in order to keep them the next time my board reboots? Also, am I looking at the right place to diagnose reboots? Thanks for you help! PS1: My board is the Helios64 and I'm running Armbian 20.11.4 Buster with OMV 5. PS2: I know there is an Helios64 Club, though I did not choose to post there as I'm not sure if this issue is specific to that board.

Hello, I am running Armbian on my Hummingboard i2eX, currently with Debian Buster on 4.9.7 kernel. For running some legacy HW (s0vz, counting impulses) I have to mux several GPIO pins to use them for input. Following http://www.solid-run.com/community/topic1571.html on 4.x kernel, I always was able to mux e.g. gpio-73 with devmem 0x020e0138 32 0x15 and then set the pin for input with: echo 73 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo "rising" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio73/edge Starting with 5.x kernel based Armbian images, I have 2 issues: muxing any IO pins with devmem seems no more possible and gpio72 is now reserved for Butto…

The integrity check I did using Quick-Hash and the Armbian_20.11.3_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.212.img.xz.sha file provided together with the download file. As this sha file was for the compressed xz file, the integrity check was also done on the compressed image. How to check integrity on the image itself? Where do I find an sha file for the image? I tried to create encrypted home folders on my NanoPi R4S but for some reason the password prompt does not show up in serial console. It just times out and therefore fails. I assume that the prompt is not properly pointed to the serial console but the board's console is clearly set to serial. Tried to simply connect an USB keyboard and when the boot at the serial console pauses to enter the password this way but no idea if it has been recognized because it made no difference. Keyboard itself worked though, system rebooted on CTRL+ALT+DEL. Tried a few things like making the code { font-family: Consolas,"courier new"; color: crimson; backgr…

Hi, I'm trying to enable the I2C at the U-BOOT stage, but so for with no success. I'm using Lamobo-R1 (Allwinner A20), but I guess that general tips from similar boards (Banana PI etc.) are still very welcome. I read these posts, and tried what has been suggested here, but with no success I2C control in u-boot: Orange Pi Zero enable i2c at u-boot for NanoPi Neo2 u-boot with I2C This is what I've done so far: I've modified the u-boot device tree to enable the I2C bus (I did the same with the kernel device-tree, and here it does work!!) Hi. Working on orange pi 3. With the latest version of armbian (20.11.3), my eth0 network interface is not able to connect to network. If I deploy an old image (20.02.1), it works. As soon as I apt update and apt upgrade, reboot, the new armbian version shown becomes 20.11.3 again, and eth0 is not able to connect anymore : at startup, a long job runs with the message "A start job is running for Network Manager Wait Online" and after some times, fails with "Failed to start Network Manager Wait Online". As soon as I redeploy the old image, it's working again. I did not touch anything else from the fresh image, only apt install/upgrade. Is …

Hi. I am trying to start an Armbian flashed image. It is the main on the download page (both Buster and Focal). Hi, Armbian gurus. I have make a new kernel and related modules for my pineh64 and want to test it. Thus they are not from dpkg. To test this kernel and modules. I have few questions: 1. About the symbolic links in /boot, are they all mandatory? What if I don't have an initramfs? 2. The Image linked file, is it have to be limited to certain compressed format to work properly? 3. Is there a recommended work flow to test a external kernel? Or I can just test by replacing Image, dtb, and the modules? Thank you.

Hello, I'm planning to replace my old (but very good) Banana PI (the first model, it should be called M1 if I remember). I basically use it as my personal cloud server, for some remote daily backups and for messing things up Now I'd like to replace it with something newer and maybe I'll use the Banana just for experimental purpose. So I searched the internet but can't find something that really fits my needs, maybe somebody with more knowledge than me can give me an advice. It should have, at least: - SATA (which is a feature I can't find in many boards ) - Gigabit Ethernet (a must) - USB 3 (at least 1 port) - 1 GB of RAM (2 are b…

Hello, I've bought a USB Bluetooth adaptor on Amazon and wanted to try it on my Armbian device, an Orange Pi Zero. The installed system is Armbian Focal (Ubuntu). That adaptor seems to have the Realtek rtl8761a chip, according to the error message in syslog. The firmware could not be found. That USB adaptor has an average rating, a second one I've also ordered has a better rating. Both have the same chip inside. Both don't work on a current Windows 10 because the unsigned driver from Realtek (to be downloaded fr…

Hello, I'm trying to install Armbian on my OrangePiZero but i have networks issues. After 3/4 hours of tests and search i found on a forum that the problem came from the kernel version. And the person said it works with: "Armbian_5.30_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie" Where can i download this rom please ? The problem: When i start my OrangePiZero i don't have ip (i use USB/TTL to access to command line). I tried to set static ip, dhcp, i tried to remove networkmanager, to use dhcpcd instead of dhclient, etc... I also tried wifi, but same... Thanks !

Hello, Thanks to the help here I got to install a latest armbian mainline version with the Lima OpenGL 2.1 support functional that might have not helped the desktop but is still nice to see the o.s. using any part of this system on a chip. To make some test after glxinfo e glxgears I tried the yquake2 engine with the demo old game and it works. I was expecting considering how old the game is to work faster even if it's accelerated for sure and expecting better quality results (bilinear filtering is not the best and sometimes objects disappear and reappear depending on the scene but it's a good test anyway). I heard lately that has been released a free sof…

I bought OPi 3 with 8 GB emmc, installed Armbian for OPi3, buster version, in the instructions I found a way to transfer the system to emmc - the nand-sata-install command. Then my actions: 1. I have installed Orangepi RK3399 Armbian 5.75 Bionic kernel 4.4.174 on Videostrong Mecoool RK3399. ( on eMMC ) I had to do only one thing. Disable DSI-1 monitor, because system regognized HDMI -1 and DSI-1. xrandr --output DSI-1 --off. ( via armbian-config boot environments setup ) Hardinfo recognized Excavator Single Board Computer. Hi, I know that the cubieboard2 is quite old, but I also got the impression from the forum that there should be a NAND support available somehow. Is there anybody who could give me a hint what I need to do to activate the NAND on the latest armbian-buster image? That would help me a lot .
-
Why is the support of the Banana M2 model on the A31c processor stopped? I am ready to become a tester. In the firmware in the "overlay" folder there are "dtbo" files for sun6i and sun8i, but they are absent sun7i-***.dtbo, which makes it impossible to work on the a31c board with sound and serial interfaces. Please return the missing files to the firmware or provide a link where you can download them.

I have a Nanopi R2s but this is generic to most boards without an inbuilt battery backed RTC. I have added a battery backed 1307 module on the I2C bus and gone through the process of getting it recogised and used. As far as it goes that's fine. The problem is the RTC is only read late in the boot process so the first part of the syslog record has incorrect date and time. Is there any way to force systemd to process the 1307 at the very start? I tried hacking the non-battery backed RTC script but it didn't take. Another option is to get the pre-systemd processes to read from the 1307 and set the inbuilt RTC before systemd starts using it? …

I have an N2+ that I'm flashing Debian Buster onto an emm card. Have tried numerous times in several variations -- flash emm, boot system, log in via ssh, set up personal account, "apt update", "apt upgrade", reboot. After that I cannot log in via ssh anymore. I am using the system in headless mode and don't currently have a working serial connection (SiLabs hasn't updated their drivers to Big Sur yet) so I can't tell if the system is booting but ssh isn't working. Anyone know why "apt upgrade" would cause it to not boot or not present an ssh server properly?

Hello, I got a Orange Pi One H3 based board with the usual 512MB DDR3 ram and never used it much but lately I'm trying to use it as an everyday home computer, so I'm trying to push the hardware as much as possible to benefit from any features. I actually have installed latest armbian v5.9.x kernel o.s. with Buster distribution and with some zram usage it's quite acceptable on the speed side. I had to add an heatsink on the SoC cause after latest mainline kernel temperature it seems to get close easier to 80°C degrees and even if I suppose it might work even at these temps, I think it was better to lower it down a bit (probably 5° to 10°C degrees). No overclocki…

Hello, new here. I'm trying to build a headless environment for my ORDOID N2 based on a stable Debian (hence Buster), but I need some packages which aren't in the Buster repo (e.g. a CLang >7). I've tried following some instructions I found for adding Bullseye testing repo, and it makes the packages available, but the installation doesn't go well. Is this an unreasonable thing to attempt? Can anyone offer any guidance for how to get newer packages onto my Buster build? (anyone know when Bullseye will become the stable release?)

The GPIO pins on the Rock64 are very similar to the Raspberry Pi's GPIO, except the Raspberry pi calls pin #19 GPIO 10, pin #21 GPIO 9 and pin #23 GPIO 11. Where as the Rock64's pin #19 is GPIO3_A1, pin #21 GPIO_A2 and pin #23 GPIO3_A0. The Rock64 documentation does say that it is quasi-Raspberry Pi compatible, but it's hard to find anyone who has actually tested this. Here is the GPIO layout of the Rock64, compared to the Pi 3 I'm currently trying to figure out if a display such as THIS can be connected to the Rock64's GPIO pins without any major issues. User documentation for the display can be found HERE on page 2, in the PDF named …

I'm trying to follow the Armbian Quick Start Guide, specifically the section "How to install to eMMC, NAND, SATA & USB?". It says to run nand-sata-install and I'll be able to choose to set up to "boot from eMMC / NAND, system on SATA / USB", which is what I want (to boot from NAND and have the system on USB). Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC Why don't I get the option to set up to boot from NAND (which I guess might be option 3, going by the documentation)? cubieboard 2, …

Hi, what options do I have to access the GPIO from Python3 as a non-root user? I'm building a project based on the Rock Pi S and I have everything working (as root, i2c, GPIO) on the Radxa Ubuntu 18.04 image but as I wanted to future proof the project by using the 5.x kernel. Hello, Is it just me or something has changed lately regarding the installation of u-boot on SPI? Hi all, I am building an art project, and I love the hardware specs of Orange Pi PC for it. I have a graphical Java app (built in Processing) that runs on a HDMI display, and unsurprisingly it doesn't run well without a GPU. On RPi 3B+/Diet Pi I've got it up around 24 fps using KMS, and I'm happy with that performance, but now I'm porting it to the OPi so I'm kinda starting from scratch again. I am aware of the amazing work going on with Panfrost although I've had issues installing it on my board with Buster Desktop. In general Armbian on Orange Pi PC seems pretty great, amazing even. But I'm only getting about 1 frame every 5 seconds with my Java/Processing a…

Hello, According to the changelogs on https://docs.armbian.com/Release_Changelog/, the 20.08 version on September upgrade the EspressoBin to the Kernel 5.6 and the next version 20.08.3 it was updated to the 5.8 kernel. When I go to the archives for the Espressobin (https://archive.armbian.com/espressobin/archive/) I cannot find the 5.6 version. Is there any reasons for that or is a missing link? Kind regards,

Hi folks, i was running Openmediavault 5 on an BananaPi M1 with Amrbian Buster for years and it worked all fine. Now i "upgraded" to an M2U because of the RAM and real Sata support. I installed the newest stable buster image 20.08 (also tried old ones and the nightly) because OMV does not support bullseye yet. After this, i just did "apt update" and "apt install armbian-config". I have choosen in softy the OMV setup. I also tried it again with the OMV install script for Armbian. In both cases i couldn't install it. I waited with softy almost 24h to install it, but it got stuck (no cpu usage, nothing happens). …

Hello, I got recently an Odroid HC2 and installed Armbian (Buster 5.4.61) on it, OMV5 and I fixed IP. I configured it on the cable that I use on my desktop and connected my desktop on wifi. When I finished the configuration, I put HC2 closer to router on another cable and connect my desktop on the cable that HC2 was connected. If I try to connect to SBC through Putty on the desktop with it connected on cable and wifi, I connect normally. But if I disconnect of wifi, I can't connect to SBC, even on Putty or browser. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
