Great job here! I need video acceleration on my bPI+. I found some outdated info and hints but nothing solid, can this be done? Can I find (or build) a legacy kernel somehow? How/where? Thanks again, armbian is amazing!

Hello, I usually don't have a problem with this but today a couple of SHA checksums didn't work for Armbian_20.05.2_Odroidc2_buster_current_5.6.15.img.xz Armbian_20.05.2_Odroidc2_buster_current_5.6.15_minimal.img.xz I redownloaded both a couple of times, same result. Could anyone else confirm? From here: https://www.armbian.com/odroid-c2/#kernels-archive-all

From https://www.armbian.com/odroid-hc1/ I have downloaded Armbian_20.05.2_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.180.img.xz on several different machines and internet connections and done a checksum verification using several different utilities and there is always a mismatch. Armbian_20.05.1_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.180.img.xz.sha says the SHA-256 checksum should be DDAF33314FAE4515E047702257CCA93CC0C088D73F81118EA8CE6911E89210EB but the checksum utilities always report E8E31E653798EBC0FFCE9205A6D7BD625EA58F8728339E4D04604A002D737DEE I downloaded Armbian_20.05.2_Odroidxu4_focal_current_5.4.41.img.xz (which doesn't work wi…

Hi, I installed more than one year ago pi-hole on a Orange Zero, since two/three month the admin panel of pi-hole remind me that there is a new pi-hole version available. I cannot figure out which is the correct way to upgrade it. Will the upgrade be released as a package through the armbian apt repository? I mean, will I get this upgrade with apt-get upgrade sooner or later? Are there other ways to upgrage it? Thanks.

hello. first i want to say thank you to every armbian supporter and the hole team. thanks for providing this nice project and your work. i did some work for adding an external sound card - the audioinjector pi stereo, which is based on a wm8731. i used the radxa rockpi4(b) board based on the rk3399. i choose this board because of pinout header is nearly the same as the one you find on raspberrys. so adding/ using raspberry Hats won´t be too hart in this case. this will also work with radxa kernel https://github.com/verplant23/kernel so there shouldn´t be any troubles porting it to armbian legacy. i´m not a coder and i don´t kno…

On my Orange Pi Zero I run Armbian Buster and the only software running is Shairport. Unfortunately I used to have a crackling noise every 20-40 secund which was solved after entering root@orangepizero:~# renice -n -19 -u shairport-sync 110 (user ID) old priority 0, new priority -19 So far so good - but after a reboot the prio is again 0. So I tried to use nice nice -19 shairport-sync but after a reboot the prio was again 0 How can I set the priority of all process run by the user (-u) “shairport-sync” to -19 when they start?

Hello, I've copied the Armbian Bionic image onto an SD card (and verified it) and put it into my new Orange Pi Zero LTS 256 MB. I already have experience with Raspberry Pis and Raspbian for a few years, so this isn't entirely new to me. While I was trying to establish a stable network connection (wired and wireless), I misinterpreted some "host not reachable" as "network failed" when instead other issues existed. In the process, I unplugged the power a few times after the device has booted up but wasn't reachable via the network. Only then I connected the serial console and investigated further. There I found out that it wasn't actually booting any…

It been a while since I have made custom images for the OrangePi PC Plus so things have changed a bit in the intervening period. First I made the development environment change to Ubuntu Focal, then changes to a couple of patch files to bring them into line with the new u-boot and kernel versions however I have simply lost the ability to display an Armbian splash screen during boot. In the past I had patched general-armbian-boot-logo-on-screen-center.patch and general-armbian-boot-logo-on-screen-center copy.patch to show the splash screen I required however now these patches are this patch is no longer even referenced during the build process. Now, after th…

I guess my application is IOT - I am getting data via USB and SPI, report status via GPIO LEDs and upload data to the internet. I am enjoying raspberrypi 3B but it's huge and relatively expensive. I am trying to return Orange Pi 2G IOT since it's a disaster. Looks like Orange Pi Zero for a bit under $20 would not be a disaster? Are there other boards to consider if I care about physical size and price?

I can't synchronize the clock using my GPS module. I get this error message: ntpd[1345]: kernel reports TIME_ERROR: 0x41: Clock Unsynchronized It only appears when I use my GPS source. I've tried to compile libgpiod (my assumption is this is a user space lib) and it depends on gpio.h which is used by the kernel. According to https://github.com/brgl/libgpiod/issues/22 gpio.h should be installed with linux-libc-dev which is already installed and gpio.h is missing. I installed the kernel headers and tried (it ends up with typedef conflicts): ./autogen.sh --enable-tools=yes --prefix=/usr/local CFLAGS="-I/usr/src/linux-headers-4.14.14-sunxi/arch/arm/include -I/usr/src/linux-headers-4.14.14-sunxi/include" configure: error: linux/gpio.h header not found (needed to build the library) I've attached the config.log. I'm trying to setup Ethernet connection on Omnima A20 - it's a cheaper stripped down version of Cubietruck (less RAM, less IO connectors, RTL8201CP 100Mbit network chip instead of 1Gbit). I'm using Debian Buster server image for Cubietruck. Everything works fine except Ethernet. ethtool says the link is up, full duplex 100Mbit. Neither networkmanager nor dhclient are able to obtain IP address from router. Static IP assignment (via /etc/network/interfaces or with "ip addr add/ip route add") succeeds, but router is unreachable for ping ("Destination Host Unreachable"). I've ruled out hardware failure: Inserting the same cable into laptop produc…

Hello. I feel like this is a really basic stupid question, but for the life of me I can't find an answer. Every thread that I read about getting a display XYZ to work in Armbian references using fbtft. But apparently fbtft is now deprecated and cannot be used anymore. So.. what do I do now? Hi, I asked earlier about getting armbian running on a particular RK3399 system-on-module, but I wanted to try a different angle now: is there an RK3399 SoM that currently runs armbian well? I'm more inclined to believe you guys than the people selling the board... George

Hi All, I'm planning to use an RK3399-based system-on-module for an embedded application, and would like some advice about the work required to produce an Armbian build that runs on it. The SoM is made by Graperain ( https://www.graperain.com/ARM-Embedded-RK3399-System-On-Module-Gf/ ), and they have provided an SDK which is clearly an old copy of the Rockchip's github repo (4.4 kernel) with some unidentified tweaks to get it working on this board (including .dts files and presumably some bootloader stuff?). I realize this particular board is likely not of interest to the community, but I figure the general discussion around getting a new board running may be. …

I am trying to investigate why borg backups, specifically when doing borg check, are taking over twice as long on armbian buster + OMV5, compared to armbian stretch + OMV4. The borg server is an Odroid HC2, and borg check runs on the server (HC2) and is single threaded. Not sure where to even start, but one thing that caught my attention is that the borg process will be running at 100% CPU at various times (as expected), but the CPU frequency at those same times was reported at 200-300 MHz when observed using htop. Is this normal? Unfortunately I don't know what frequency was normal in the same circumstances with armbian stretch + OMV4. Benchmarks …

If I create docker.conf in /etc/syslog-ng/conf.d with: filter f_dockerd {"${.journald._COMM}" eq "dockerd"}; destination d_docker { file("/var/log/docker.log"); }; log { source(s_src); filter(f_dockerd); destination(d_docker); }; Everything is logged go to docker.log, not just docker logs. The journal source is already setup with system() I think as if I try to add a journald source I get the error there can only be one.

Hi Everyone, I have a clean install of armbian with vanilla gnome installed, it boots to the login screen and mouse seems fine but after a few seconds it stops responding and when you move it it does this weird rapid shake movement as if your moving the mouse like 2 pixels side to side 100 times a second, its hard to explain but the curser doesn't move. Every reboot and the same thing happens and I tried starting from scratch with a fresh flash but same results happen and also tried different mouse, they work fine on other machines though. Has anyone come across anything like this before who can possibly offer some advice? Sorry if I haven't explai…

Hi: I am using debian jessie on orange pi H3 boards and I am very satisfied with it. but I need to upgrade now since jessie is out of support. i want to upgrade to debian buster since my pi is using as a server without any display attached. but I wonder maybe there is something good I missed from ubuntu: like 10 years LTS support? or perhaps most developers are using ubuntu so it is more mature? just need some advice. thanks a lot!

before you start: Armbian already provides kernel build script in armbian build framework, and you can download these packages via `apt` in common cases, you shouldn't build kernel yourself, even you want to build a customer kernel package, you should use armbian build framework. because you can get best supports. so below content is only for experts. prepare source code: 1, stable linux kernel source code: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git https://kernel.googlesource.com/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git 2, armbian build framework, fo…

Hi all, I am using Armbian Bionic on ASUS Tinkerboard S board(s) in an application where the power may fail at any point. I have now, for the second time, seen a running OS starting to fail with the error. ALERT! /dev/mmcblk0p1 does not exists. Dropping to a shell! I have restarted the board several times, but the error continues. If I do a: (initramfs) blkid /dev/mmcblk2p1: UUID=.... /dev/mmcblk2: PTUUID=.. It seems that the OS tries to boot from the wrong device. If I then, booting from another OS using SD card, change the /boot/boot.cmd rootdev: setenv rootdev "/dev/mmcblk2p1" And rerun the mk…

Using my Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 I want wo build a POE-powered display, displaying the current time, time until the bus leaves and ideally some information on bus schedules I can pull from the API of the local bus network. What I currently have is an Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 and a POE injector where I can insert any voltage as it does not run with standard POE voltage. My plan is to buy this e-paper display https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/7.5inch_e-Paper_HAT_(B) and have the Orange Pi display a simple HTML page. So my first question is: Would this display run, would it be a good choice for my setup? Are there any similar projects (yes, I searched) that…

Ubuntu changed the location of the mini.iso file for the minimal Ubuntu (Server?) installer in their file servers (since the 20.04 release), it's now located here: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/focal/main/installer-amd64/current/legacy-images/netboot/mini.iso The docs should be changed since it could be confusing for new users/developers.

Hello everyone. I'm trying to configure wifi on my orange pi zero based on armbian buster. I planed to work in two wifi modes - client mode and access point mode. Wpa_supplicant allows me to register several networks in one configuration file, one of the networks can be with the option mode = 2, which means an access point. Then if during scanning wpa_supplicant does not find available points for connection, its own access point is created (which with mode=2 in conf file). I have problems with connecting other clients to this access point (it sees, but always reconnect). dnsmasq works as dhcp server as service, but i try to connecnt with static Ip on client too - no resul…

Hello, Trying to compile the Qualcomm Gobi serial USB drivers for a Simcom wireless chip on a NanoPi Neo2 (sunxi64). I've loaded the kernel headers via armbian-config and typically this specific header file would be in drivers/usb/serial. We're using the pre-built image. Is there an easy way to get this into our kernel or do we have to embark on a full compile? Any help very much appreciated Rob

I just got a working version of the mcp251x.dts overlay running an the Allwinner H3, and ran into a few issues along the way. Actually this is answer not a question . How to drive things with the OrangePi board with smartphone? My GOAL was : 1. create Access Point with Orange Pi Lite board. 2. create wireless local network with Nodejs 3. connect my smartphone to this wireless network So , I think almost all kind of boards could work , from Raspberry pi , Orange pi and many others boards families with wireless adapter . This is tested on OrangePiLite board with OS-Armbian 5.65 with node.js installed. First you have to create two files - server.js and index.html(see below) server.js is your nodejs server script file who will handle index…

Hi all, this is somewhat odd. I am using the nextcloudpi image NextCloudPi_Rock64_03-28-20.img. I believe it uses armbian (I am really not an expert sorry) and my problem is really not nextcloud related i believe. I had to cut the power to the rock64. Then i rebooted. The system clock is set to some early date (2016-xx-yy). Therefore the unmount is in the future causing an fsck. It fails miserably and drops to initramfs (where i really am lost). I don't think this should happen. I dont have a rtc battery - maybe this wouldnt be an issue if there was one attached? I hope someone can tell me how to progress or how to provide better insight …

I'm using an Orange Pi Prime to build a Magic Mirror. The module I'm trying to install is for switching the HDMI on/off with a PIR sensor. The module is called MMM-PIR-Sensor. Hi all, I bought a Orange Pi PC 2 a couple of months back, loaded the Armbian image successfully and tweaked it until it was just right for my application. As this piece of hardware was going to live on a remote property, I bought another 2 Orange Pi PC 2 boards and some new SD cards with the intention of having 2 backups - one for development and the other as spare. I cloned the SD card by copying the active EXT4 partition across to the blank SD card using GParted. The long and the short of it is that these images did not work. I know the hardware is good as the original SD card works in the new OPi PC2 boards. Likewise the new cards don't wo…

I try to use the pwm from GPIO to PWM control a fan. I would need around 20kHz with a variable duty cycle. As far as I understand I need to activate the pwm overlay, but its only available for the h5. Can I change the UART or I2C overlay to achieve this or should I try to write my own overlay? Is that even doable?

Hi there, this might be a dumb question but I've done some searching and haven't gotten any closer to a solution, so, my apologies. I need to connect to my NanoPi M4 over the serial UART because I've made the eMMC unbootable, and I need to tell the board to boot from microSD so I can fix it. I've attempted to do this in both 'minicom' and 'screen' at 1500000 8N1 and the result is the same either way. I can see output from the NanoPi just fine, but when I attempt to send characters, it only displays a question mark imprinted on a square for each character, similar to what I'd expect if e.g. the character was not in my terminal font. Orange Pi PC+ I have been using an image generated in 2019 (based on Debian 9) to develop code for a project. On the development machine it works well. I moved it to a machine running a custom Armbian build (simply having removed drivers that weren't necessary - sound etc. - and requiring that u-boot not search USB devices before starting the kernel) that was based on the same version (reported as Debian 9). It worked as expected. No probalme there then. Yesterday I rebuilt the Armbian image (now based on Debian 9.12), loaded it on to the client machine and went to run the software. I now get the error; "Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-version.c: 224: …

Hello Everyone, Yesterday Domoticz released a new version but requires now GLIBC-2.28. Armbian Bionic has GLIBC-2.27. Users with a Raspberry Pi need to upgrade from Debian Stretch to Buster. But what i know is Armbian for the OrangePi One plus based of Ubuntu 18.04 what is based on Debian Buster. So in my opinion it should be possible to run GLIBC-2.28 instead of GLIBC-2.27. But the question is: how could i fix that?? Thank you for all help!
