Hello. I’m try to run Armbian on my Kurio 7S tablet (https://linux-sunxi.org/Kurio_7S) with Allwinner A20 CPU. I built Armbian image for Cubietrack with USB Gadget Support (https://linux-sunxi.org/USB_Gadget/Ethernet) and ran it using SD-card. But, the micro USB port isn’t active. I need micro USB to connect keyboard to enter a password and for the further configuring Armbian. The micro USB port perfect works in Android on the NAND of the tablet. What am I doing wrong?

Hello! Made a kernel update via APT yesterday and now the MOTD is displaying the status warning "No end-user support: built from trunk". The update also broke the scripts used by armbian-config (works after a reinstall though). Is this normal behaviour? I've never seen this MOTD status before. Are unsupported/unstable updates pushed through the stable branch (my sources are configured as "stable main contrib")? Edit: The updated packages were: linux-buster-root-current-odroidxu4:armhf (20.08.1, 20.08.3), linux-image-current-odroidxu4:armhf (20.08.1, 20.08.3), linux-dtb-current-odroidxu4:armhf (20.08.1, 20.08.3), linux-u-boot-odroidxu4-current:…

So I have managed to partially pull out one of the usb sockets on my tv box. The little plastic piece that holds the 4 metal pins has come out while I was pulling out a slightly deformed usb cable. The box still worked while it was on. After a reboot it is not coming on. The LEDs and VFD don't come on. It doesn't boot into armbian or android. Is it safe to say that it is dead? I think I am going to have to try and lift those metal pins. Because they are touching the metal usb housing. Perhaps that is causing a short-circuit somewhere. If all else fails I will try to desolder the whole usb slot. Update: I have bent …

Some days ago I installed the latest armbian updates to my armbian buster installation / openmediavault 5 on my odroid n2. Hello, I'm trying to writing a patch for /gpu/drm/panel/panel-simple.c in order to make my 3.5" ampire works with my Olimex's A13 som board. I've correctly set display frequencies and parameters, and the image is displayed correctly... ...except for some random pixel wich sometimes changes color. I dig out with my oscilloscope and find that RGB data changes on clock's rising edge. Display's datasheet request data to be changed on falling edge insted. So, I've tryied to set the property, but nothing changed: data still changes on rising edge. Here's the core of my patch: diff --git a/drivers/gpu/drm/panel/p…

I have a question. Because there is a big mess in the naming of the first Orangepi series. I have a board with orangepi mini 2 image working. Archived Armbian 5.05 kernel 3.4.119. Orangepi pi 2 images do not launch. In appearance and specifications, the Orangepi PC 2 and mini 2 are almost identical. https://linux-sunxi.org/Xunlong_Orange_Pi_Mini_2. However, the specification for the mini 2 exists, although the manufacturer himself does not provide it on its main website. Could you add an introduction to the orange pi mini 2 board, with the old 3.4 kernel, so that you can build a system? Or maybe someone has some archival image to share?

There is only a desktop download for OPi 4 and it comes with XFCE desktop. I cannot change the color for the taskbar from the absolutely horrible charcoal gray, other than to the 16-color set. If I choose a light color, the font color doesn't automatically change to dark, or be set specifically, it stays as white. I cannot put the computer's name on the taskbar. I cannot put the temperature on the taskbar. I cannot put the CPU usage on the taskbar. With the taskbar on the left margin (deskbar), the icons for the launchers are single and huge - the full width of the taskbar, not in rows 0f 24 px icons like with LXDE. I cannot change the r…

Hello, In case you haven't heard about this yet, the fact that Armbian Buster Current comes with a 5.8 kernel means it suffers from this Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=964926 which us caused by combining this kernel version (as well as future ones) with systemd built using older kernel headers. This bug is mostly harmless but it does at the very least prevent Ansible from managing services on affected systems due to 'systemctl show' exiting with a non-zero exit code. Unfortunately with the official Debian Buster kernel version being 4.19 it is unlikely that this will be fixed on their end.

Hi, I normally use Proxmox on Intel Nucs (also Buster based) and also had here usbip with some USB sticks on a USB hub. Now I decided to split that up a bit and so I got some ZeroPi devices and wanted to use them as USBIP hosts kind of. So I installed the buster image and also added usbip_host module to /etc/modules. The devices are seen by the Linux on the ZeroPi in general and also /usr/sbin/usbip list -l lists them successfully. Here the dmesg output too: [ 350.174305] usb 4-1: new high-speed USB device number 6 using ehci-platform [ 350.331127] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=1a40, idProduct=0101, bcdDevice= 1.11 [ 35…

Hi, I have and Orange Pi PC board on which I'm trying to use Armbian from yestarday, "trying" because I have several different problems on which I investigated also on this forum, but I'm unable to solve at the moment (the reason because I'm writing here). Let's start from the beginning. I downloaded the armbian image from armbian website (https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/), version I'm using now is Armbian 20.08.1 Buster with Linux 5.8.5-sunxi, but I have tried also other versions with exact same behaviour. The first problem is time synchronization root@orangepipc:~# timedatectl Local time: Thu 2020-09-03 16:34:17 CE…

Armbianmonitor -u After an attempt to use wifi on cubietruck on Buster server 20.05.2 (upgraded from Jessie) the board experiences random freezes and I need to power-cycle the board to bring it back. I am now on Buster 20.08.02 after upgrade without using wifi (blacklisted as on the original image) I am trying to pinpoint the source of the freeze (I don't want a fresh install) but due to zram logging, I can't seem to be able to find anything useful in the logs. Can someone suggest any other method to debug my issue or how to temporarily disable zram logging? Edit: I used systemctrl to stop zram and zram logging temporarily

This is a bunch of background info, scroll down to TL;DR for my question.... Hello, I am working on developing an application to make single board computers easier to use for non-technical users. You can think of it as something similar to yunohost or freedombox, but with more hand-holding involved around the hardware & network setup. I'm trying to enable people like my mother who've never seen or used a terminal/shell before to be able to set up and operate a server in their home. The general process looks something like this: user downloads my cross platform desktop application called "seedpacket" they run the app and go through a ser…

Hi. I am digging many things with armbian so I install fresh armbian and many applications so many times. So I am making a long script to install many applications and edit many configuration. When it asked "Yes/On" on text prompt, I use "#echo yes | apt install vim". It works well. But when I install samba, it ask text prompt "yes/no" at first and then with dialog box "yes/no". So I tried "#echo yes | echo no | apt install samba". But it doesn't work. How can I send "yes/no" to dialog box in bash shell??

Hi, I'd like to install to USB storage as the eMMC card I have is quite small. As stated in the documentation https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-install-to-emmc-nand-sata-usb It appears to be quite simple but my question is, I already have everything installed and running, with the software I need etc. Will this pose an issue or should I re-flash and do it straight away? Thanks!

Hello, Today I found that the "serial-getty@ttyS0.service" service restarts every minute. It says "serial-getty@ttyS0.service: Succeeded." in the syslog/journal and then starts again, so it exited with code 0. The restart counter is already at 3085, so it's been like that for 2 days. No output is logged from the service itself. So I looked up its start command and ran it interactively. Again, with no output, after a minute, it returned with code 0. So I straced that thing and saw that it did lots of things, then print "Password:" somewhere, wait a while and then print "Login timed out after 60 second" and exit with code 0. strace /sbin/a…

Currently the only way to get a working GC2035 camera at Orange PI PC Plus, is to 1) install Armbian 5.20 or 5.23 ( 5.24 / 5.25 and anything newer is known not to work) 2) then you need to carefully apt-get update / apt-get upgrade and hope it doesnt break However, there is a huge problem: Armbian 5.20 and 5.23 images are not available now They should have been available at these links: Armbian 5.20 - https://dl.armbian.com/orangepipcplus/archive/Armbian_5.20_Orangepipcplus_Debian_jessie_default_3.4.112.7z Armbian 5.23 - https://dl.armbian.com/orangepipcplus/archive/Armbian_5.23_Orangepipcplus_Debian_jessie_default_3.4.112.7z …

I am copying a folder from one drive to another. The transfer operation encounters duplicate files and ask me to Replace, Replace All, Skip, Skip All ,etc. Some of the files may be the same filename but different file-size (e.g., one is bigger than the other). Hi all, I bought a Orange Pi PC 2 a year or two back, loaded the Armbian image successfully and tweaked it until it was just right for my application. As this piece of hardware was going to live on a remote property, I bought another 2 Orange Pi PC 2 boards and some new SD cards with the intention of having 2 backups - one for development and the other as spare. I recently reinstall my Tinkerboard with Focal Desktop to start over. I installed xrdp in armbian-config, and RDPed in, there was no wallpaper, no desktop icon, no mouse icon and windows I opened looks weird (but xfce taskbar shows up) I came to the conclusion that it has something to do with auto login, so a quick google leads me to this instruction, I commented the line in "/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/22-armbian-autologin.conf" out, reboot, and the RDP environment works great. Except now there is lightdm-gtk-greeter process in the background that is taking 100% CPU usage in full clock speed, the board became hot (>70 degree Celsius) very quickly. …

Hi team. I am having a difficult time getting the standard Opi CSI camera to work on the newest mainline Armbian. I don't have the ability to use a legacy version because it is coupled with a preconfigured Octopi, thanks to @ldiaz. He says that Octopi will work with the camera once the system works with the camera, and I have not been able to get it to work. There are at least a dozen threads here about that camera, but most are dated. And the ones that aren't seem to talk more about performance, and they assume that your camera is working. I also saw one about overlays, which I have no idea how to deal with, or even what they are. Something tells me it just isn't thi…

Flashing odroidc4 images, each installation gets an identical IP address of '00:50:43:84:fb:2f' as specified in https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/7d758026b57380b17b6337e23b053db01c7e0b3d/config/bootenv/meson.txt This gets especially cumbersome with encrypted rootfs. Is there any way to override this without having to rebuild the image? Ideally the hw MAC address would be used, but being able to configure it through a simple change of the boot parameters after flashing would also work.

I've built Armbian for my purposes with the following build settings: ./compile.sh BOARD="bananapi" BRANCH="current" RELEASE="focal" \ KERNEL_ONLY="no" KERNEL_CONFIGURE="no" BUILD_DESKTOP="no" EXTERNAL="yes" \ INSTALL_HEADERS="yes" .. and the board boots from the resulting image just fine, and seems to be running well. Now, I want to clone a repo onto this board, and use the ONBOARD compiler for development purposes .. I'm doing some CAN development, and I want to use SocketCan (https://github.com/jackthompsonnz/socketcan-linux-5.0.git) which is a kernel module for gaining access to a USB-CAN adapter. So I connect to it, clon…

Hi, Hobby-level user here. New to Armbian. Trying to get Nextcloud and PiHole installed and running on my Odroid HC1. I use Tailscale as a VPN and would like to be set up to use both the pihole's ad-blocking and Nextcloud from outside my LAN. I've gone through set up and install of both. Armbian-config>Softy reports both installed and running. Nextcloud The Nextcloud activation page is visible at https://192.168.20.100/activate/ When I go to https://nextcloudpi.local:4443 I get nothing - it seems to get stuck at the DNS lookup stage. PiHole PiHole's admin page is not reachable at http://192.168.20.100/admin Server not found…

Hi all! I try to run ./demo file, that must make diode blinks on 4 pin. But nothing happens... It finds correct board name (Running on a Orange Pi One), but blinking doesn't works. I also try simple c++ program: Spoiler #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdint.h> #include <string.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <time.h> extern "C" { #include <armbianio.h> } int main(int argc, char **argv) { int i, rc; const char *szBoardName; // Initialize the library rc = AIOInit(); if (rc == 0) { printf("Problem initializing ArmbianIO library\n"); return 0; } szBoardName = AIOG…

Hello. I've received a SATA to USB 3.0 adapter from the Pine64 store. The problem is than the adapter is not fully SAT compliant, so hdparm doesn't work with it. It is described better in this post. And there's an updated firmware for the JMS578 chip which fixes this issue. However, it was made for another device (Odroid HC1), not the device I have. Is it safe to use this firmware in my adapter? Or maybe there's even more fresh firmware exists for JMS578 chips?

First time trying Armbian on my N2. I know N2 is very picky with HDMI cables, I tried a bunch of HDMI cables and couldn't make it work thru any my HDMI switches(1080p). I had to connect it directly to the HDMI ports on my TV to get video signal. My Samsung TV is a 65inch 4k capable of handling 1080p resolutions with my other arm64 devices(C4, Rpi4, Rockpro64 and N2+) without any issues. Unfortunately, despite of setting resolution to 1080p60(setenv hdmimode "1080p60hz"), disabling auto detection(setenv display_autodetect "false") and setting HDP=true(setenv disablehpd "true") on boot.ini, it keeps ignoring these settings. Just to make sure, I edited both "boot.ini" under …

Hello every body, I need some help, I can't install Citadel mail server on my Nanopi duo2 board. Previously i try to install ISPconfig mail server on default armbian-config but not work, then i try Citadel because I already have a little familiarity with this program. After write IOS on mem card and updade/upgrade command I followed the guidelines of the Citadel website which is to execute the following commands: "curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash", but after downloading and starting the installation, many error messages appear due to lack of space. Below is some information from my system: IOS version: Armbian_20.05.4_Nanopiduo2_focal_current_5…

Problem: Wifi Dongle D-Link DWA-131 (RTL8192EU) doesn't work in automated 'armbian-config' program to configure it as an AP. Tried: On a fresh install of Buster Current on SD card, I booted up and did 'armbian-config > Network > Hotspot'. At the end of the setup it said there is no compatible 'hostapd' driver. I also tried an image of FriendlyWRT on this SBC. I could get the Wifi Dongle to be recognized, but radio0 said "device not set", and wifi was 'not associated'. Goal: Get DWA-131 to function as a hotspot on my FriendlyElec NanoPi R2S using armbian (or FriendlyWRT). I want to use this device as a hotspot (or rou…

Greetings, I'm attempting to apply a custom patch during the build process for a bananapi-m2-zero. (specifically, DTS changes) I went into the kernel source, and created a diff, and put it in the user customized patches directory. Unfortunately, the patch failed. So, I dug into it, and discovered the source changes because of patches in the armbian patches/ directory. So, instead I started the build, let these patches apply,, and aborted the build. Then I created the diff again. Sadly, the patch is still being rejected. Now, I might be able to fight with this, and make it work. But the next time I pull a new update it could be broken a…

Hi, im trying to build a receiver with WebRTC. I tried multiple Boards (Raspberry PI 3B, RPI 3B+, AML-S905X-CC, NanoPI Fire3), but none of them had the power to display a Full HD Video. After some research I stumbled up on this article ( https://bootlin.com/blog/tag/allwinner/ ). So now my question would be if I can get Hardware Acceleration in Chromium with the mainline kernel, with Allwinner H2/H3? Or is there any other Option I can get WebRTC Hardware Accelerated? Thanks for the help

I just experienced this old problem with Focal: WD drives inaccessible starting with kernel 4.13 -As the topic is now closed, I'd like to add some information. I have a raspi hat (rak2245) that has 2 versions: a pi-hat version that has a 40 pin-header on it for raspberry pi's , but also a smaller stamp edition. It uses spi and uart to communicate with the pi. I have it running without issues on my orange pi zero, even though the pinheader is a little too large. And via a breadboard I can access all pins just fine. But since I am making my own PCB anyway, I am interested in using the stamp version. The only difference between the stamp and the pi-hat version (aside from the form-factor and pin-out) is that the pi-hat version has an additional eeprom chip to tell the rapsberry pi about the function of the pins apparently. Now…

Hello all, Im new to Armbian and sbc's. I have a OPi Z+2 and NPi Neo Air and they are both being used for the same purpose, will use 2x UART and I2C. I will add software bundles to Debian image for production use. Can anyone tell me if I can use the same Armbian image on both devices ? ie make a single image and then just rely on the Overlay selection on the image to allow our custom software to access correct GPIO automatically for both board types ? Thanks for any advice. Chris

Hello guys, I have a NOVAsom M7+ board with a RTL8723bs module with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth integrated. The Wi-Fi works normally and without problems, however the Bluetooth isn't detected at all. When I try to open the Bluetooth Manager app gives me this error: "Connection to BlueZ failed. BlueZ daemon is not running. blueman-manager cannot continue. This probably means that there were no Bluetooth adapters detected or Bluetooth daemon was not started". I already searched the internet and found some people with problems related to this module and Bluetooth, does anyone know how to solve this? Best regards

Hi there, I don't know yet much about the USB gadget framework, but was wondering it I could use it to make an Orange Pi Zero or One seen as a video sink by the host computer. I know the framework should allow the board to be seen as an audio source, a video source, a Midi device and other things, but could it be seen as a video consumer of some sort ? My goal would be to grab the host's webcam content, encode and stream it on the SBC so that the host's CPU still has resource for other tasks. Does it make sense ? Thanks.

I've copied Armbian Ubuntu Focal onto a brand-new SD card and started it on an Orange Pi Zero. This has worked before with the Bionic version. After setting it up and upgrading all packages, I rebooted and everything was running smoothly. Now I've done the same as before but found that the system is totally slow after running for just one day. It's set up to collect data from a 1-Wire temperature sensor and send it to my server. And it lets the green LED blink twice every 30 seconds to show it's still there and has a network connection. The network is connected via Ethernet cable, WLAN is not used. Observation 1: It took half a minute to login the first time t…

Hello all, I have a Novasom M7 Plus board with a Rockchip RK3328 that initially had an SD card with Armbian. I made the necessary hardware connections to connect to a screen via HDMI and then I followed all the necessary steps to perform the BOOT through the eMMc memory but after transferring the rootfs it will not start via EMMC, only with the SD card it is possible to start the system. I have tried a lot of solutions that I am finding in the forums but I still haven't been able to solve the problem. The goal is to start Armbian without having the SD card inserted.

Hi, I'd like to setup log2ram so that it never writes to the disk, but rather discards all logs at shutdown. The documentation for log2ram says that if I delete /etc/cron.daily/log2ram it will only sync the logs to the disk at shutdown. But is there a way to have it not even do that? Also, in order to prevent log2ram from filling up all its space in RAM, is it possible to setup an overwrite mechanism so that the logs begin overwriting themselves once they hit the space limit?

I read a lot of U Boot documentation the last hours but I still fail at fundamental understanding, like: - where can variables be set? boot.scr obviously, but there is also uEnv.txt boot.cmd armbianEnv.txt ... and in which order and precendence are they parsed? (If I set a variable in different files, which value will be used? first? last? ...) - how is a change made persistent (saveenv does not work) - Can sub-variables be changed, e.g. root in bootargs what I am trying to achieve atm is to change the boot partion rootdev from p1 to p2. Even thou I think I patched the relevant files, printenv shows that bootargs and rootdev are still set to…

I am trying to setup my Odroid-XU4 with Armbian 20.05.2 booting from MMC and no SDCard in slot. It took me a while but finally I found what I needed. Next I've installed OpenMediaVault using armbian-config, that worked well. Within OMV I've tried to setup VLANs which I could define but they didn't work, so I had to take a deeper look into it. I've found that the interface name needed to be reverted back to eth0 since the new naming convention enx<MAC-address without ":"> uses the max available number of characters already: In my case "enx001e06320261" , so if you add a vlan "enx001e06320261.1" the name is to long, it will not start. This could be so…
