  1. Hi, I have few boards that were once connected to wifi manually, but now are headless. I would like now to upgrade Armbian and put wifi connection during sd card flash. Tried the classic way: /etc/network/interfaces When the board boots it connects to the wifi, I see few pings and then it goes offline After taking one of the boards for troubleshooting using serial console I found that NeworkManager starts right after the network is up and screws everything: Executing sudo ifdown wlan0 && sudo ifup -v wlan0 restores the connection My question is: what is the correct way t…

  2. I want to make an Armbian image with BTRFS rootfs. I did, it works. My problem is the default setup only assign 58M to the partition for /boot, leave only 18M of free space. I want to make it 150M. I had some bad experience related to such issue before - when I did an "apt upgrade" that involves building of new initrd.img file, the /boot partition is too small to allow the upgrade. So, I want to fix this issue before I build other stuffs on it. I have browse the docs.armbian.com and read couple of README under the build/ folder but find no hints. Thanks in advance for your help P.S. I think my question should be a gener…

  9. Hello to everyone! : ) I've made a lot of digging around but I haven't found a final reply to my questions because all the informations I've found are quite old and probably outdated. I own an OPi PC which I was using with Libreelec but unfortunately the HDMI output broke because of the missing protections. By what I know, there isn't any mean of getting AV out working on Libreelec so I switched to Armbian for which it seems to be possible instead. I've installed it with no issues at all (version as per title) but all the guides I've found on this forum to enable AV out seem not to apply, probably because they're intended for much older Armbian versions nor I couldn't fin…

  13. Started by DrSchottky,

Hi all, I'm experimenting with OPi Zero 2+ and I would like to flash onboard eMMC with a fresh Armbian (from a clean img, not from running system). What I did is booting from SD, downloading an Armbian img and dd'ing it into emmc device file, being sure it would have been enough since is what we do (I think?) when we write img to SD cards. I found out it won't boot unless I manually flash sunxi-spl.bin at 0x2000. What am I missing? Isn't that supposed to be flashed with image? Is dd a proper method to flash a clean image on mmc from a running system? Thank you

I am using Armbian 4.14 kernel on a custom board. As soon as the boards boots up I get a lot of oops and memory address fault. Software works on another board that use same memory and mtest always succeeds on faulty board even with complementary patterns. I have got the feedback that this new memory belongs to the newest revision level so SDRAM parameters needs to be updated. However I am using the 4.14 kernel so .fex configuration is not taken into consideration by the kernel, although initialize the SDRAM controller is bootloader->SPL's duty. Anyone knows how to update SDRAM parameters without using .fex config file or compile u-boot and SP…

  19. I just attempted several builds of Build-Armbian, 5.67 bionic 5.0 rc1 with S9xxx board. None of them will boot. It's almost like it's not reading the DTB right. I was a software engineer in a past life. Any hints in the right direction would be much appreciated. For instance, is there a way to see the boot console so I can se…

  20. Hi all, Recently I tried to replace the wireless module on NanoPi Neo Air and met some very strange phenomenon. I just solder off the AP6212 module and then replace it with an AP6234 module. 22. I don't have a fiber/fast internet connection, and I get around 200kb/s download speed when I use normal apt or apt-get. But apt-fast accelerates download speeds significantly. I go up to 1MB/s using it (I set max connections option to 16 while installing it, you'll know what I mean when you try to install it using apt-add-repository, of course, if you don't know). So I suggest you to use apt-fast in "armbian-config" or any system utility. This suggestion goes to the developers. So that we (users with no good internet connection) can update the system or install the desktop environment a lot faster and easier.

A user reported his Orange Pi One crashes randomly when staying on the lower voltage with the new fex settings so unless it's confirmed which voltages are really used or how to measure the real voltage the proposed fix here might lead to undervoltage/stability issues on some boards. …

But internal clock of the bus is 1.5 MHz, and if i try to communicate with 1 Mb/s, error is too big. Is it possible somehow change internal clock of the uart? Or maybe any other possibilities how to configure such communication ? Or maybe you know any models with higher internal clock of the bus (Like on 6.5 MHz on raspberry pi 4, for example) ? Hello, I got a Orange Pi One H3 based board with the usual 512MB DDR3 ram and never used it much but lately I'm trying to use it as an everyday home computer, so I'm trying to push the hardware as much as possible to benefit from any features. I actually have installed latest armbian v5.9.x kernel o.s. with Buster distribution and with some zram usage it's quite acceptable on the speed side. I had to add an heatsink on the SoC cause after latest mainline kernel temperature it seems to get close easier to 80°C degrees and even if I suppose it might work even at these temps, I think it was better to lower it down a bit (probably 5° to 10°C degrees). 29. Dear all, on my ODROID-HC2 Armbian Bullseye installation there is a script /usr/bin/wireguard-manager and I'm curious what this is about at all. I have managed to extract the original DTB file from the built in Android (Pie, I believe), but as I read somewhere else, these DTB files are for older Linux kernels, and Armbian refuses to boot with it. My question: would anybody here like to attempt to update the DTB file, so that it adheres to the current Linux kernels standards for DTB files? I will offer $100 to anyone who can make it work. Then suddenly (often at night) the USB Hostadapter seems to get disconnected and the system need to be rebooted completely to get 1-Wire to work again. Hello, If you don't want to use HDMI, what configuration should be done in armbianEnv.txt or boot.cmd ? Thanks in advance

I try to use the pwm from GPIO to PWM control a fan. I would need around 20kHz with a variable duty cycle. As far as I understand I need to activate the pwm overlay, but its only available for the h5. Can I change the UART or I2C overlay to achieve this or should I try to write my own overlay? Is that even doable?

  93. If you've tried hardware video on an Allwinner A733 (Orange Pi 4 Pro, Radxa A7Z), you've probably hit this: there's no V4L2 decoder, and omxh264dec advertises video/x-raw(memory:DMABuf) but aborts in gst_omx_video_dec_negotiate if you actually ask for it. So everyone falls back to videoconvert ! ximagesink and burns ~1.8 CPU cores on 1080p. The vendor OMX component reports the proprietary colour format 0x7f000002 through a malformed port-format enumeration, so gst-omx can't build a negotiation map. You can chase that a long way. Don't. libOmxVdec.so is a wrapper over libvdecoder.so, and that lower library is what actually owns the decode surfaces. VideoPicture.n…

Dear all I am using BPI-M3 this board I got some questions first I can't use Uart other than Debug Uart (maybe Uart1 or Uart2) Debug Uart can call /dev/ttyS0 use it i don't know how to driver /dev/ttyS1~7 so GPIO header pin 8 /10 only have normal GPIO features and i install Armbian_5.55_Bananapim3_Debian_stretch_next_4.17.12 i try to use WiringPI control my GPIO pin is can be work [git clone https://github.com/BPI-SINOVOIP/BPI-WiringPi.git -b BPI_M3] but now i install Armbian_5.59.180823_Bananapim3_Debian_stretch_dev_4.18.4 and Armbian_5.59_Bananapim3_Debian_stretch_dev_4.1…

Hiya, Goal: Ok so I'm after a high speed synchronous serial interface (50mhz would be nice) with reasonably flexible clocking options so I can tweak it up and down. The goal is to implement a "fast as possible" SWD debug interface to a Cortex M0; ideally the serial interface could be run arbitrarily fast until the target M0 or the wiring can't handle it. If can do 48mhz I can basically read/write one 32-bit word per microsecond over swd, so 4MB/sec, and I want to process that a little and send it to a PC (obviously ethernet). I especially care about consistent, gap-free, no jitter on this serial interface. So SPI is the obvious choice but I'm…

  97. Hi, what options do I have to access the GPIO from Python3 as a non-root user? I'm building a project based on the Rock Pi S and I have everything working (as root, i2c, GPIO) on the Radxa Ubuntu 18.04 image but as I wanted to future proof the project by using the 5.x kernel. I started with the latest Armbian_20.11_Rockpi-s_focal_current_5.9.10_minimal and enabled the i2c bus from armbianEnv.txt (rk3308-i2c1) (was already active) because the armbian-config didn't work. So I managed to get the oled display to work with the same library (luma.oled) I used on the 4.4 kernel. Then I wanted to install libmraa that I used on 4.4 but noticed was not …

  98. Hi, I want to make my orange pi 3 lts work in a similar way to the way Wifi manager works on esp8266 projects The idea being that if there is not a valid Wifi connection found then an AP is activated so a user can connect to a captive portal and enter the wifi ssid and password anc click connect. the pi then reboots and tries to connect. if that is successful then it works as normal if it is not then it reactivates the AP. I found various different partial solutions but none of which seem to work well with my setup. this might be either due to the orange pi or Armbian. The most promising i ahve foudn so far is https://github.com/b…

Hi! I am having a really weird issue today with my armbian system. Its default configuration is as an AP with a NGINX server running at boot so that I can connect to my board and access to a website stored locally. I wanted to do some updates to the systems, so I have switched off the board, and opened the SDcard to my debian desktop system. I have modified the autoconnect value of my AP nmconnection file to false and switched the one of my infrastructure mode nmconnection file to true, so that at next boot, my board connects to my local network and I can run my updates. my board has never shown up in my router l…

  100. Hi I was trying to setup my RK3328 based A5X Max tv box running armbian ( a fairly recent version 4.4.154 based) as an access point. Yesterday I tried the armbian-config option, and it downloaded/setup things and the access point worked. Because I only need it as an access point sometimes, I went back through armbian-config and turned it off. Today I tried to go through armbian-config and start an access point again, and I see the access point option has disappeared from Networking in armbian-config. !!! Has something changed recently? I might have done a update/upgrade in between. Or does armbian-config just set it up, …
