Hi, I need to compile armbian to set some kernel modules. Now the compiled kernel is installed and armbian is up. For some reason using armbin-add-overlay results in Missing dtc compiler in kernel headers directory. Please reinstall the kernel headers package I have installed the all packages I have build. . ├── linux-dtb-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb ├── linux-headers-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb ├── linux-image-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb └── linux-u-boot-next-nanopineo_5.53_armhf.deb So the matching kernel headers should be installed.

Is anyone know how to set HDMI and LCD simultaneously on mainline kernel? We use a 3.5" LCD for which we made a patch (see enclosed). Now I'd like to have both HDMI and LCD showing the same framebuffer. Currently HDMI is only showing the console while signal is OK on LCD. Any hint would be appreciated. u-boot-sunxi-next.patch kernel-sunxi-next.patch

Hello, Amrbian devs, Thank you for the efforts first. I'm fiddling with some of SBC including PineH64, Rock Pi4... Sometimes, I have to provide a new kernel or add modules. So after the kernel modules are installed. How can I edit boot loader to start it. I discover /boot/boot.cmd and boot.scr contains a line "DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE" So how can I start another kernel image? Is the init ramdisk is required? Thank you.

Can't compile my RTL8188eu driver any more since upgrade from 5.14 to 5.15. Any advice where they gone or how to fix the make file? Background: the shipped driver are broken when it comes to WPA PEAP Enterprise. The wifi module quickly overheats and stops. My current understanding is that this driver uses hardware encryption which overloads under this condition. My solution was to use these driver, that apparently don't use HW encryption: https://github.com/universam1/rtl8188eu Unfortunately, they don't compile any more now because of missing kernel files. Any help? Thanks

Hi everyone! I've just got a new odroid c4 and am trying to hook it up to a small i2c oled display. I've wired it up to the I2C A SCA and SCL pins with 3.3V and GND as needed, and enabled both I2C A and B in armbian-config. However, when I run i2cdetect -y 0 I get the device grid with a 30 in position 30 and nothing else, both with the display hooked up or not, nothing changes. Is there anything obvious I might have missed to get I2C running? Thanks in advance for your help!

I'd like some help please. The ethernet device naming seems inconsistent and sometimes changes following reboots. Sometimes one interface comes up as eth0 and sometimes as eth1, and sometimes not at all. The enp1s0 interface seems to reliably come up, but not with the right config (sometimes it uses the config for enp1s0 and sometimes for eth0). I am trying to assign status IP addresses (on different networks) to each interface, but because of the unreliable bringup of the network interfaces, I can't get a config that starts up correctly and consistency on reboots or cold boots. As a test I ran the friendly-core-lite-focal from …

Hey all, I've been using Allwinner boards for the last couple of years and Armbian+forums have made this a workable thing that I promote to my friends as being The Way To Go instead of being a big fat waste of time. Igor + Tkaiser (and anyone else forgive me if I didn't give you a shout) - You fucking rock. You really do; you've all provided amazing amounts of support for multiple kernels and userspaces and in the face of (at least) bullshit from the chip vendors, yet you are absolutely crucial to them being taken seriously. The work from Armbian has (for me) made the difference between BananaPi, OrangePi, etc all being an unusable washout of #ShitDidn'tW…

Today I had problems copying files from my Synology NAS. Browsing the directories was fine but copying files resulted in I/O error. No errors in any logs (dmesg, /var/log/messages) The kernel is not built with rpc debugging available so I couldn't look further in to the cause. Armbian 5.26 didn't work Armbian 5.25 didn't work I Downgraded all the way back to 5.23 (kernel 4.8.4) and everything works perfectly.

I have a 8811CU WiFi dongle that failed to work on my Nanopi Neo. When connecting using nmcli, I get this error "Error: Connection activation failed: (7) Secrets were required, but not provided." Hi, I've got an Odroid HC2 with Armbian Buster and OMV on it, and the SD card I used it with got corrupted. So I salvaged all the files from it and backups, and restored the whole file structure onto a new SD card, with an ext4 MBR primary partition. Now, my concern is, how can I make this bootable? I can boot the HC2 off a throwaway newly installed Armbian, and access the target SD card through a USB card reader. I could google that armbian-config is used to install the bootloader, but apparently it can only do that to the card which has been used to boot the device in the first place. Any suggestions? thanks

Dear colleagues! I think many of us are trying to use SBC boards with Armbian as server, control units etc. How do you handle instant power OFF, due to power loss, for example. I am thinking about small UPS development, it will contain battery for 30 seconds of Orange Pi Pc+ operation and set Orange Pi I/O as signal for correct shutdown. But is it actually needed? I keep switching my Orange power OFF from AC adapter instead of shutting down for 1 year and still no problem there.

Hi all, I have a few orange pi zero's and recently on 2 I had an issue with wifi AP that I am trying to properly understand. I have read some of the discussion regarding the wifi chip on the opi0 and that's not a great chip. I thoroughly agree with people that say that if you pay bottom dollar for a board, don't expect top dollar performance. And especially don't come complaining on a public FOSS forum. The only thing I am trying to do is understand the error and see if there is anything I can do to improve it. I use my orange pi zero's with a basic (custom) armbian image that starts up with a wifi AP briefly, so I can ssh in and do some config. Afterward…

Hello Does anyone know how to toggle GPIO output at boot / power up as an overlay or similar? I have seen only examples that show GPIO in function and I didnt find much information how to toggle GPIO out function. Basically I would like to be able to turn LCD back light on when the board is booting and than to be able to control the brightness. (That I can do after the Linux is up and running) but before the Linux is up I still want to be able to control the LCD back light. Can anyone help with that matter?

My OPi Zero is not accessible via SSH after installing the new supported image Armbian 22.02 Jammy. After the install, the device is up and ping-able. Any attempt to SSH in with `ssh root@<ip-address>` ends in a `ssh: connect to host 192.168.88.9 port 22: Connection timed out` error. When I reboot the board and try again, it's still the same issue. A ping with `ping 192.168.88.9` works. For completeness, I tried also with the edge instead of the current jammy image. Same error.

Hi, I have this great tiny SBC without being used because I could not get its fan temperature dependent on dietpi and really did not liked the stock image, so I have been looking for something more interesting. After installing lm-sensors, I ran sensors-detect as root and no sensors were found. I know I saw a temperature readout (calculated?) somewhere and I wonder if whether is possible to have a PWM control of the fan as the stock image does. All help and suggestions are much appreciated. Cheers, Gus

I burned a xz compressed image of Armbian Focal onto a good SD card using BalenaEtcher as instructed on the Armbian website. I placed it into my NanoPC T4 - which currently boots from the eMMC, and held the boot button while powering on. It tried to boot - but it kept reporting there was no bootloader file and seemed to be trying to load something from the internet, not the SD card. If I dont press the boot button, it simply ignores the SD card and boots from eMMC. I reburned the SD card several times, and each time it verified fine. Does anyone know what I did wrong?

I'm looking to update my current Armbian File server (orange pi plus). The main reason is to gain USB3 for faster file serving, particularly rsync. I have little need for most of the features available (bluetooth, wifi, gpio, audio, hdmi), just a stable, low-cost, box that has usb3/gigabit ethernet and doesn't need a fan. I was thinking of an orange pi 3 lts for this purpose-- it seems to run armbian, and it won't break the bank at 54usd shipped with case + power supply. Do you see any problems with this choice or have alternative choices?

Hi All. As you may have read at my HDMI post, I have tried two different OpiPC images, the default one here, and the current RetrorangePi. Then I tried the retro image and went back to do the same process, but no matter what I do I can't see to get rid of error messages. I've tried to put ARCH=ARM and arm. I've tried TARGET=LINUX. Hi everyone, I'm an experienced Debian user but it's my first time with Armbian running on an Orange Pi Zero. I'd like to make it a DB node by running MySQL. As there is no MySQL available in the apt repository, I tried MariaDB but during the installation (tried multiple times) I don't get asked for a password and need to run mysql --skip-grant-tables which leads to db failure, permission problems (like root can access without password while all the other users are blocked). Installation from source code fails due to limited memory. How can I seamlessly get mysql-server to work on Armbian?

Hello, everybody! Today I've got very interesting behavior during debian8-3.4.112 startup. I have the code working, meaning the interrupt handlers for the D0 and D1 pins do in fact get called when I swipe a prox card. However, I'm missing usually about half or more of the 26 bits. The wiegand protocol is 26 pulses, each pulse 50uS wide, and separated by 2000us, so yeah it has to be fast. I've set the debounce value to zero using gpio_set_debounce(), so it's running as quickly as I can make it without patching Linux source. After doing some reading, I think I need to modify the device tree to make the default polling speed for GPIOA pins faster. Or…

I am experiencing problems with the gcc compiler. When I compiling a simple program it gives me the following error: main.c:6:1: error: expected '=' , ',' , ';' , 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '{' token { ^ main.c:9:1: error: expected '{" at end of input } ^ I have the 3.4.112 kernel installed, when I compile and run the same program on my desktop it works, what can the problem be? Below is the code. main.c #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include "header.h" int main(void){ printf("%d", returnSeven()); return 0; } source.c int returnSeven(void){ return 7; } header.h int returnSeven(void);

Hi All, I have successfully installed a brand new armbian on my H616 OrangePiZero2 Board. I have installed docker and have several containers running on it. one of the dockers need to scan a cifs drive that contains Hebrew characters and it fails on scanning - not retrieving all the files. I have tested the same on a raspberry pi running Ubuntu18.04 and it works great and retrieved all the files without any issues on armbian it was ~300 files and ubuntu ~900 files. The name of the files can not be changed since they are used out side of the docker. basically files are been saved in Hebrew on the cifs mount all the time. I have done a…

Hi all, I have upgraded an Odroid C2 setup to C4, and encountered some strange issues. The SPI interface of C2 is bit banging, while the C4 offers "real" hardware support for SPI. I use a current kernel (5.10.102) with Bullseye. I use two SPI /CS lines, while one SPI controller takes care of "user" interaction with the LatticeSemi MachXO2 FPGA on the addon board. The other SPI controller is used to reflash the MachXO2 by the SPI. On the C2, everything works fine (while slow, due to bitbanging). On the C4, the same code on Odroid and FPGA fails - but only on the reflashing interface, not the user interface. The user int…

Hi, trying to nut out the problem of being unable to restart after installation of the OMV Wireguard plugin. I have removed the wireguard-tools package and installed the 4 rockchip64 edge 6.1.11 packages. It took me a while to realise that armbian-config was not installing the headers when selected but wondering if there's a necessary order for installation ie linux-source-6.1.11-edge-rockchip64 first maybe? Sorry I realise how tedious it is supporting folks who are feeling around in the dark but I've wasted so many hours starting from scratch I either have to give up or ask for a tip. TIA

Hey folks, I know I should rather post in the OMV forums, but those are in maintenance until next week, maybe someone here uses OMV on a HCx. I flashed the Armbian minimal image, booted, SSHd into it, ran updates, ran the OMV install script and rebooted. Now I still can SSH into the HC1, but the there is no OMV interface running for the browser. During the OMV installation it complained something about something like openmediavault-flashmedia or something but apart from that finished successfully as far as I can tell. Here's the output in the console windows as far as I can scroll back: Spoiler - directory mask = 0700 - …

Hi all, I bought a Orange Pi PC 2 a year or two back, loaded the Armbian image successfully and tweaked it until it was just right for my application. As this piece of hardware was going to live on a remote property, I bought another 2 Orange Pi PC 2 boards and some new SD cards with the intention of having 2 backups - one for development and the other as spare. I loaded these two up with the latest Armbian image and configured them as needed. These two work fine, even if I swap the SD card between these two pieces of hardware. However, when I try to put the SD card from the original Orange Pi PC 2 into one of the newer Orange Pi PC 2 it will …

Hey all! I'm wondering if there's a tried and tested method for preparing an armbian system to be made into an SD card image, including: * Clearing the right SSH data * Triggering firstrun to run next time * Shrinking partition * Any other suggestiosn NB : the filesystem for armbian seems to be quite different from raspbian / other. Which makes shrinking the partition from another computer quite confusing (e.g. when mounting a ripped img in ubuntu we just see one full partition across the entire SD card, even if there's lots of free space)

Hey. I'm trying to set up a 3.5" spi touch display with my orange pi zero +2 (H5). I've gotten the display to work - console is displaying fine, and the same with Xorg. However, getting the touch panel to work, seems quite difficult. (I tested it on a pi, so I know the hardware works). I've been running through all the threads I could find in here, regarding these setups, but I haven't been able to crack it. I have tried a lot of different variations of using spi-spidev, spi-add-cs1, customized spi-double-spidev, setting the param_spidev_spi_bus etc. I have a suspicion that something is off with the second cs channel, as this seems to be where I get my err…

If YES, how can I find the connected sensors under the /sys/bus/ structure? Tanks in advance wollik

I'm running Armbian 20.11.3 Buster on the Odroid N2 (kernel 5.9.14-meson64). I wanted information on memory pressure of the system, but I was surprised to see that pressure stall information (PSI) was not at /proc/pressure/memory. I then noticed that the PSI tool is not configured in the Armbian build. Specifically, the /boot/config-5.9.14-meson64 file contains "# CONFIG_PSI is not set" Why is pressure stall information not configured on Armbian? Are there better or other tools to provide this information? I briefly looked at free and /proc/meminfo, but I'm of the opinion that unused RAM is wasted and looking at free memory is not a good indicator if operation…

When using Armbian on my Orange Pi 5b, I can't select 120hz when the resolution is 4k but I can when it's set to 1080p. In other distros like Joshua Riek's Ubuntu and the official Orange Pi 5 Ubuntu release, 120 hz is selectable in 4k and works wonderfully. Is there something I'm missing somewhere? Is there something I can do to manually enable this somewhere? This distro checks all the boxes for me otherwise. Using 120 hz makes a massive difference when streaming games from my desktop to my living room TV using Sunshine/Moonlight.
