Hey guys, Coming from high level programming such as Java or C#, I'm quite new to mid-level development. I'm working on a project and I was wondering there are any low cost Linux compatible SoC that are guaranteed to have a long term availability for like 5-7 years or more? I've seen the H3, but since it is manufactured by a chinese company, I'm not sure about the availability of this chip on long term. Thanks

I successfully installed the rtl-sdr and Gqrx on a pine a64 with Armbian, it works perfectly Now I want to make an IMSI catcher (just beacons with gr-gsm), which I did on another ubuntu device. I first had problems with pip and then changed the export path. Now this works but I have problems installing PyBombs: sudo pip install PyBOMBS I get: Command "/usr/bin/python -u -c "import setuptools, tokenize;__file__='/tmp/pip-install-FNJDtY/ruamel.ordereddict/setup.py';f=getattr(tokenize, 'open', open)(__file__);code=f.read().replace('\r\n', '\n');f.close();exec(compile(code, __file__, 'exec'))" install --record /tmp/pip-record-QjKLMX/install-record.txt --sing…

I want to create not big i2c-device module for training. But when I create new module file, I can't run Makefile, because ARMBIAN /lib/modules/(uname -r) doesn't have "build" file. I am currently working on a Development Board based on RK3288. We are using Rockchip kernel as mentioned here https://github.com/rockchip-linux/kernel This uses libdrm (DRI) for its rendering purposes. But it has limitations. Only one CRTC is connected out of 2. It provides 8 planes, out of which only 4 are available for the working CRTC, out of which user available OVERLAY planes are only 2, and out of which only 1 Plane supports NV12 rendering. I need to show 2-4 videos simultaneously, can anyone help me here on how to procure more planes, particularly NV12 compatible OVERLAY type, that can be connected to the working CRTC?

While using ubuntu1604-kernel4.4-VAAPLI.img I took downloaded from the server, I came across the following problem. While trying to develop device drivers for kernel space, I realized we dont have any linux headers in the said system. I have tried looking up for the same at Rockchip's github as well as wiki site, but could not find one. Can anyone point me to the correct linux headers ? I am using RK3288 development board, and current my version using "uname -r" is "4.4.55+"

Hi, Got a bit of a strange situation here. Trying to get H3 I2S working in both playback and capture. Tweaked script.bin and got the I2S0 up and running. Playback in 96K and 192K tested and is ok. Capture though is giving me a headache. When I try to use arecord it does work and generates a wav file but upon playing the file with aplay and although the samplerate (96K or 192K) and channel numbers (Stereo) show ok on screen, the audio result from this recording is always mono and looks that the included samples numer is divided by 2 thus the playback time is shortened accordingly, eg if I record 10 sec, a 5 sec playing time happens. Verified the…

I want to load my custom service to show orangepi zero as three devices on the host PC. Setup: I have a small home network with several SBCs, PCs, NASs and two devices are running Armbian ARMBIAN 5.59, ARMBIAN 5.59 stable Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.14.65-sunxi for the Orange Pi Zero and ARMBIAN 5.59 testing Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.14.65-sunxi for the Cubieboard 1. The OPi Zero runs the PiHole application for the whole network. There's a MikroTik router which does DHCP for the network. Problem: The Armbian devices are not able to do a local name resolution, a `ping router.lan` or `ping orangepizero.lan` or `ping cubieboard.lan` from either device gives the error: "Name or service not known". Hello. I want to use btrfs as my rootfs (Armbian Ubuntu xenial 5.14 on M2) so I can use snapshots to roll back, freeze for backups, and to help manage changes. Btrfs is also good for error checking and can provide cheap easy data redundancy. How does booting work on my BPI M2? How can I change the target root partition? What has to be on /boot (ext4) and what can be on / (btrfs)? Along the same lines, is it possible to boot off of a USB device either directly or indirectly (Small SD with bootloader and /boot→ USB large root device)? Is there some documentation or good keywords to learn about how booting works in the ARM world?

Hey. I have a banana pi m2u (Allwinner A40), I created a debian stretch console image, but ethernet interface does not work. The eth0 interface is not visible in the system. Could you say what could be wrong?

So, before some days I've updated some packages - so I can't say which update cause the following described problem: The Odroid boots up and doesn't do a dhcp query - the eth0 interface won't get any IP-Address. 'nmtui' shows (even if I delete every connections and set mine to default) after every reboot a new connection with "eth0" as name and no dchp config and no automatic connect selected. Trying to use armbian-config and set IP to DHCP wont help also, because at the next reboot this "ghost" profile appears again and overwrites the Armbian profile. If I try to activate the Armbian profile (or mine) the "ghost" profile disappears... My /etc/network/inter…

Is there detailed info somewhere how to do so? Like I posted here I once prepared a new sd card with armbian, poped it in to have the system resize to full sd card storage and then restored the rsync backup. Back then I was successful restoring the backup on hummingboard. Now I tried with odroid hc2 backup via ssh. Turns out you have to be root on the client if you pull a backup via ssh, else the files and folders user, group and permission won't be transfered. Also after restore I changed the UUID in /etc/fstab to the new sd card. Since I first set up armbian with a fresh install I should also have u-boot on it. Unfortunately system does not boot on my o…

I'm not sure whether this is the correct place. Sorry if it isn't and please move it to where it belongs - thanks! The problem is: in our community (forum.iobroker.net) came up problems with mounting to a nas by cifs. ioBroker is a smart home management, and a new module ("adapter") has been designed to provide automated backups to a nas. in most cases this works fine, but on some platforms with armbian it fails with the message: cifs filesystem not supported by the system I'm not that linux crack, but i tried to find out what could cause this, I found at this site https://www.linuxquestions.org/question ... 175593855/ so…

pine64 products have sloppy DC connectors. This connector simply detaches from the motherboard. I use in production pine64 pine64-lts pineH64 and rock64. As a result of switching on and off the dc connector, in each case it has peeled off and does not hold power. I've attached the DC connector with glue but that's not what the factory mount. The low price now goes sideways. workmanship worse than nonopi.

Hi, I'm using an Odroid C2 with 8 DVB-C/T (6x TechnoTrend TT-TVStick CT2-4400 and 2xTECHNOTREND TT-connect CT2-4650). Those DVB-C are connected via 2x 4 ports USB 3.0 which are connected in USB C2 ports. The problem is that if I'm using 4 or maximum 5 DVB-C, Odroid C2 has a CPU usage about 30-40% from 400%, so pretty low usage. Now the issues are starting: if I'm trying to start another DVB-C or if I'm doing for example something which uses high CPU suddenly Odroid C2 is rebooting. This is the first thing. The second thing is that the DVB_SKY_2 seems to crash when the mumudvb is starting on a DVB device. The third issue is that I can't change …

How to unbrick the system? When something goes horribly wrong and you can not boot the system, this is the way to proceed. You need some Linux machine where you can insert SD card failed. With this procedure, you will reinstall the u-boot, kernel, and hardware settings. In most cases, this is enough to unbrick the board. You should check the file system before mounting: I do not understand

Hi guys, we are working on custom board based on A20, similar to Olinuxino MICRO. Our firmware is Buildroot based, with enabled Cryptodev and openssl with -DHAVE_CRYPTODEV, -DUSE_CRYPTODEV_DIGESTS. I know that we should not expect a drastic performance gain, but I wonder if this thing works at all, since I do not see any load on system level while the user space process still utilizes 100% of CPU on one core. Yes, openssl performance test reports some better numbers after "modprobe cryptodev", but not so good as other people report. I suspect that something is missing. I do not see interrupts with number assigned to crypto-engine in dts. crypto: crypto-engine@1c…

I use this method and it works like a charm: void setup(){ pinMode(0,INPUT); pinMode(1,INPUT); } void loop(){ } Just upload this code, and connect GND to GND, TX to RX and RX to TX, then connect your Arduino to your computer, it will get a name like COM3, connect that com port, and you're in! You can also use PuTTY for connecting to the com port. Spoiler

Hi, I own a Orange PI Plus 2 with SATA support. Until now without success I tried to migrate from a SD boot / HDD root setup, which is my current well working situation, to a SD boot / SSD root setup. I created two partitions on the SSD created a swap device on sda1 and root device on sda2 like on the HDD. Performed mkswap on /dev/sda1 and copied the HDD root filesystem to the SSD root file system to be /dev/sda2 using ' find . -print | cpio -pdvm' on a spare laptop with two SATA ports. I even copied the UUID from the root partition of the HDD to the root partition of the SSD. Next I configured the system by changing the root device in armbianEnv.t…

I don't have a fiber/fast internet connection, and I get around 200kb/s download speed when I use normal apt or apt-get. But apt-fast accelerates download speeds significantly. I go up to 1MB/s using it (I set max connections option to 16 while installing it, you'll know what I mean when you try to install it using apt-add-repository, of course, if you don't know). So I suggest you to use apt-fast in "armbian-config" or any system utility. This suggestion goes to the developers. So that we (users with no good internet connection) can update the system or install the desktop environment a lot faster and easier.

Hi guys, first of all I want to thank all of the users so far contributing to these armbian images. The images are extremely stable and my personally preffered platform for Smart Home installations. Unfortunately started using the 1-Wire BUS I am experiencing issues with the current kernel. At least this is what syslog entries let me assume. Everything seems fine for some hours or sometimes even days. Then suddenly (often at night) the USB Hostadapter seems to get disconnected and the system need to be rebooted completely to get 1-Wire to work again. I already searched the net a bit and found many users having those issues with several …

Hi, I need to compile armbian to set some kernel modules. Now the compiled kernel is installed and armbian is up. For some reason using armbin-add-overlay results in Missing dtc compiler in kernel headers directory. Please reinstall the kernel headers package I have installed the all packages I have build. . ├── linux-dtb-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb ├── linux-headers-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb ├── linux-image-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb └── linux-u-boot-next-nanopineo_5.53_armhf.deb So the matching kernel headers should be installed.

Hello, I would like to set up a small server, mostly for home sftp & torrent needs (maybe a voip server like Mumble). My requirements and questions fall into 3 categories: 1.) Openness & community support 2.) Stability 3.) Future viability 1.) One of my main requirements is for the board to be open / running on as little software blobs as possible. I would like to support manufacturers who seem to care for open source community. The two main manufacturers I see mentioned regularly are Olimex and CubieTech and the A20 as a best supported SoC. I'm currently looking at CubieTruck and OLinuXino-Lime2 but I'm wandering: …

I'm trying to access GPIO through python using the following library: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3 Online guides say that for OPi One this should be a plug and play solution. However, for me, the pins dont seem to be mapping properly, running dir(ports) and dir(connector) yields the results shown here All the PAx pins are missing, and the results bare no similarity to the actual pin config found here any help appreciated, Andy

I am using Armbian 4.14 kernel on a custom board. As soon as the boards boots up I get a lot of oops and memory address fault. Software works on another board that use same memory and mtest always succeeds on faulty board even with complementary patterns. I have got the feedback that this new memory belongs to the newest revision level so SDRAM parameters needs to be updated. However I am using the 4.14 kernel so .fex configuration is not taken into consideration by the kernel, although initialize the SDRAM controller is bootloader->SPL's duty. Anyone knows how to update SDRAM parameters without using .fex config file or compile u-boot and SP…

@TonyMac32 I have bought a Firefly-RK3399 from firefly ( http://shop.t-firefly.com/goods.php?id=45 ). I did not realize it at the time of purchase, but the Mosfets are unable to provide sufficient power for the board plus the USB ports, EDP connector, MIPI-CSI interface, M.2 slot, etc. I really love the IO of the board and want to try to find a way to get it to work (plus I don't have the money to go trying out more boards ). Would your idea help such a board? Thanks!

I have several rock64, rpi, and opi boards but only one ftdi232 serial adapter. Since not each board has hdmi output or in some cases it is buggy a serial connection is the only way for me to see what's going on. If I remove the adapter from a running board and plug it in immediately again I still get serial output, however, if I plug it in after a while I don't get any output. Any ideas what could be the reason and how to fix this?

I was hoping to use the same type of backups for my Armbian Minecraft Server as I currently use for my RASPBX system which uses Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi 3 and sucessfully updates a backup of the entire SD card every night. I successfully modified and ported the RASPBX-BACKUP script to other Raspberry Pi's I have that are fulfilling other tasks and they also make backups just fine. The are also running Raspbian. Hi At the beginning I would like to say hi. I do not know English well, so please be patient. I will try to describe my problem. I have a Nanopi K2 and a Waveshare 7 LCD HDMI (C) display. After connecting and starting Nanopi, nothing is displayed. It seems to me that the computer can not properly start. When I turn on the Nanopi and the system will load, then I connect the display and it works correctly. Picture and touch work. What could be the reason? Where to start? Regards Trebor

If you have ever compiled buildroot from Amlogic, please help me. I am trying to learn develop app on amlogic based device. First I was getting compile error on 64bit Ubuntu 16.04. Just recently started getting ICE when building large C/C++ code using both GCC and CLANG. I suppose memory is failing in some way related to HW. On x86 Ubuntu I have memtest86+ in GRUB, but how do I test for memory errors on Armbian? I tried memtester and stressapptest but they test only part of memory, and so far don't show any errors, does something similar to memtest86+ exist for ARM?

We had a power outage the other day and though I have UPS coverage on all my computers, TV's, switches, router and Arm boards I forgot to shut down the ARM boards gracefully before shutting off the UPS that protects them. Later, all my PI's booted back up just fine but my Le Potato is not responding. I verified that the SD card still shows a Linux system but am not sure what all to look at to repair boot problems. I tested the Le Potato with another fresh Armbian install and it booted up just fine so the hardware is not an issue. I am lamenting not having made a backup of the card before this happened but was still tweaking stuff and didn't think about it (next time I…

My headless Orange Pi Zero Plus was configured to boot from a powered external USB2 drive with 3 partitions, a 48Gb linux partition populated by armbian-config, a 4Gb swap partition and a 800Gb NTFS data partition (shared by Samba). The setup is stable and works beautifully when powered up from the powered off state. The Pi fails to start when I reboot it. I suspect that the USB port or drive or both need some kind of reset when a reboot occurs. Has anybody encountered this problem? Is there a known solution?

Hello! In the process of setting up the settings in my new Armbian Bionic install on a 16 GByte installed MicroSD, I tried to set the clock preferences in the XFCE4 but as soon as I close the preferences application, it reverts to an invalid state and the clock disappears. It wasn't a fresh MicroSD and I'm concerned that it's trying to "save on a bad sector" or something when I set up the preferences. Is there a way I can test for the possibility that my MicroSD is wearing out? The power supply I'm using came with the board and has been adequate for all other OS uses. It may just be a file permission bug or something needing a "sudo". Either way, I'm conc…
