I found my NanoPi Neo Air's could not list or connect to some wifi networks. Some investigating found this was because channel 12/13 are disabled by default. Nothing in runtime had any effect on the output of iw reg get as it should have. Patching in some firmware fixes worked for me. wget http://ftp.be.debian.org/pub/software/network/wireless-regdb/wireless-regdb-2025.02.20.tar.xz tar xf wireless-regdb-2025.02.20.tar.xz sudo cp wireless-regdb-2025.02.20/regulatory.db /lib/firmware/ sudo cp wireless-regdb-2025.02.20/regulatory.db.p7s /lib/firmware/ sudo iw reg set AU #Australia I can now connect to wifi channel 13. Now for my question: …

Hello there, My board had just rebooted with no notice, so I wanted to take a look at /var/log/syslog in order to diagnose the issue, but for some reason, there are no logs between Dec 30 and the moment my board rebooted. Why are logs missing? What do I need to do in order to keep them the next time my board reboots? Also, am I looking at the right place to diagnose reboots? Thanks for you help! PS1: My board is the Helios64 and I'm running Armbian 20.11.4 Buster with OMV 5. PS2: I know there is an Helios64 Club, though I did not choose to post there as I'm not sure if this issue is specific to that board.

I have installed syslog-ng which removes rsyslog, now I am trying to filter using journald as docker is set to log to journald. If I create docker.conf in /etc/syslog-ng/conf.d with: filter f_dockerd {"${.journald._COMM}" eq "dockerd"}; destination d_docker { file("/var/log/docker.log"); }; log { source(s_src); filter(f_dockerd); destination(d_docker); }; Everything is logged go to docker.log, not just docker logs. The journal source is already setup with system() I think as if I try to add a journald source I get the error there can only be one.

Hi guys, I've a nanopim4 V2 running Armbian Focal with Linux 5.7.15-rockchip64, on a Kubernetes k3s cluster, and I realise that time to time, the board crashes (or reboot) but I'm unable to find why. I've checked syslog kernel.log under /var/log.hdd without luck. What else should I check? This is the output of armbianmonitor if it's help. http://ix.io/2vgU Many thanks in advanced. Regards

Greetings everyone. I have sucessfully used Armbian Bionic in a production environment. Its really great. I am now evaluating Armbian Buster and I am seeing a strange issue perhaps you can direct me where to look so I can do troubleshooting. With the board connected to our corporate network, it takes about 48 hours when the whole board (OrangePi+ 2E) will crash with the CPU burning up. The second time it happened I had htop running to try and diagnose the problem. Investigation revealed that rngd became unstable due to the nm-applet. This led me to re-running the known conditions when this happens, with the network disconnected and now it doesn't cras…

Hi. I have my orange PI OPT 3 LTS running Ubuntu.. The system is installed in /dev/mmcblk0 (I believe that's the SD card?), and I just checked with gparted that it still has the Android it came with on /dev/mmcblk2 (I believe that's the internal memory?) Anyway, I would like to move Ubuntu to the external USB HDD I added. I created a /dev/sdb2 for it in ext4. I launched nand-sata-install a few times, but I'm afraid of picking the wrong options.. Which options should I pick to ensure that it does not destroy my Ubuntu installation in the process? Many thanks, -t

I just installed Armbian 4.2 and then upgraded it to Armbian 4.6 using the Armbian APT repositories. I am running Debian Jessie with the sunxi kernel 3.4.109 on a Cubieboard 2. My issue is that systemd user sessions don't work out of the box. When I try to check the status of my user session, this is what happens: $ systemctl --user status Failed to get D-Bus connection: Connection refused $ systemd --version systemd 215 +PAM +AUDIT +SELINUX +IMA +SYSVINIT +LIBCRYPTSETUP +GCRYPT +ACL +XZ -SECCOMP -APPARMOR Any ideas? Any other information I can provide? This used to work on a pre-Armbian image from Igor. That installation became unstable and I messed up the…

Hi, I am trying to determine whether this is expected behavior or a bug/ordering issue in Armbian's armbian-ramlog. My /etc/systemd/journald.conf contains: Storage=persistent SystemMaxUse=20M Persistent journal storage is available: /var/log/journal -> /var/log.hdd/journal and /var/log.hdd is mounted read-write. However, after every reboot, systemd-journald initially writes to /run/log/journal. I verified this directly: sudo ls -l /proc/$(pidof systemd-journald)/fd | grep journal Immediately after boot I get: 33 -> /run/log/journal/d1d6e2a49fd24499b90cb6d5198cb70e/system.j…

Hello, In case you haven't heard about this yet, the fact that Armbian Buster Current comes with a 5.8 kernel means it suffers from this Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=964926 which us caused by combining this kernel version (as well as future ones) with systemd built using older kernel headers. This bug is mostly harmless but it does at the very least prevent Ansible from managing services on affected systems due to 'systemctl show' exiting with a non-zero exit code. Unfortunately with the official Debian Buster kernel version being 4.19 it is unlikely that this will be fixed on their end.

Hi, recently downloaded image for may odroid hc4. There was big sign with 23.5 version so i used this. Everything went fine. Set up lamp nextcloud server but then i wanted to set firewall with geoblock(xt_geoip) but can't go through basic steps. On my old version it workerd. With some addition steps but did. Problem is with linux headers. I found out there is some weird "desync" with packages versioning? I downloaded image for 23.5 and repo seems to be on 23.2. Linux kernel on fresh image is 6.1.30 and in repo is 6.1.11. Even armbian-config is installing headers for 6.1.11 and can't compile my stuffs. I just wanted to downgrade kernel to 6.1.11, but i think it …

Hi, I'm new to this game, being mostly a (French) software dev doing backend Node.js. Recently I bought a 21.5" Android kiosk display from Beelta, the T2100AA, to build a custom kiosk for my company. The Android build is bloated, so I wanted something cleaner. I started looking into porting Armbian to this display. Inside there's an SBC identified as a Shimeta AIoT-3568A. There's no Linux support for this board, and the manufacturer wasn't willing to provide any documentation. I started digging with Claude and worked through most of the blockers in under a day. Here's what I found — and possibly a path forward for other Shimeta-based boards too (more on…

Hey all I am pretty new to Linux and Arm devices and not native English speaker so sorry for eye bleeding typos and grammar. I have a trouble to make TeamViewer-host work on Headless Armbian Focal 5.4.46. Hi, in addition to some research regarding a few quality SD cards I wanted to ask our users to contribute to some collective benchmarking. Hi, Armbian gurus. I have make a new kernel and related modules for my pineh64 and want to test it. Thus they are not from dpkg. To test this kernel and modules. I have few questions: 1. About the symbolic links in /boot, are they all mandatory? What if I don't have an initramfs? 2. The Image linked file, is it have to be limited to certain compressed format to work properly? 3. Is there a recommended work flow to test a external kernel? Or I can just test by replacing Image, dtb, and the modules? Thank you.

Hello, I have been trying for a few weeks to get this LCD dsiplay (Store Wiki) to work with the NanoPi Neo Air. The display driver required is apparently the ST7789V. That's all, really. I appreciate the amount and quality of work that the leaders here generously share with the community. I donated an amount that would buy 6 bottles of my preferred local brew, hoping that the project's accountants will allow at least that tiny drop in the total donation pool to be used to celebrate a little. It's well-earned!

Hello all. A possible mission impossible challenge for someone who wishes to accept it and this message will not self-destruct in 10 seconds. :-) The LED1 (green) and LED2 (blue) on the BanabaPi Pro. How do I get them to show the watchdog heart beat and the MMC card usage? An out-of-date Rasbian Distro for the Lemaker BananaPi Pro had this feature this right-out-of-the-box, but at the moment on Armbian I've only got the steady red power LED. Is there a way to enable this functionality within Armbian?

What about the new Banana PI M2 ultra ? Is it a real SATA controller ? or just one more that is channeled through the USB ? And is this machine likely to be supported by Armbian ? It in short seems to be a little overpriced and the eMMC storage to be to little. And the M3 left a bit bad taste in my mouth, but if it is Sata that gives more speed than USB and if it will be Armbian supported then I might give them another go.

I am creating the image from source from the Armbian build repository on GitHub for an Orangepi5. I have altered the kernel configuration to force module signing. The .config is attached. My problem is that after the build there is no signing_key.pem in /certs. But when I get the source from Torvalds repository and not using Armbian build the file gets created. The following helps to realize the scope of my question: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/v6.1/admin-guide/module-signing.html#generating-signing-keys .config

Hi, I'm trying to use ZFS but the kernel I'd like to use doesn't support loadable modules. The version is 22.08.4 at the moment (5.10.147) Can I use zfs-dkms on linux-image-current-meson64? Hi, I have and Orange Pi PC board on which I'm trying to use Armbian from yestarday, "trying" because I have several different problems on which I investigated also on this forum, but I'm unable to solve at the moment (the reason because I'm writing here). Let's start from the beginning. I downloaded the armbian image from armbian website (https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/), version I'm using now is Armbian 20.08.1 Buster with Linux 5.8.5-sunxi, but I have tried also other versions with exact same behaviour. The first problem is time synchronization root@orangepipc:~# timedatectl Local time: Thu 2020-09-03 16:34:17 CE…

Hi, I'm having a problem with some timezones and I couldn't find anything in the web related with it. This is in a NanoiPi M1 with ARMBIAN on it. The problem is that when I run the following commands the result is not the as expected: echo "America/Indianapolis" > /etc/timezone && dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive tzdata and then result is: Current default time zone: 'America/Adak' Local time is now: Thu Sep 8 03:08:41 HDT 2016. Universal Time is now: Thu Sep 8 12:08:41 UTC 2016. but if I run: echo "America/Indiana/Indianapolis" > /etc/timezone && dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive tzdata the result is as expected: Current default…

I'm trying to create an access point on a Tinker Board S with a MT7601U wifi dongle, since the wifi that it incorporates I could not make it work. When I configure the AP, this message appears. One of your wireless drivers are on a black list due to poor quality. AP mode might not be possible! Is not supported in Armbian? is one of the hardware devices tested?

I've got an original Tinker Board rev 1.2 that I want to install Klipper on for a 3d printer. I've tried installing both Armbian 24.11.1 Bookworm Minimal / IOT and Armbian 24.11.1 Noble XFCE and with either one when I try to shut it down with "sudo shutdown now" or using the shutdown option in the desktop mode, the board seems to shut down, the lights go out but it still draws around 700mA and the CPU stays warm or even gets a little hotter (with the board powered on but doing nothing it draws around 460mA). I've tried disabling wake-on-lan but that didn't help. I've tried adding power_off to the extraargs line in /boot/armbianEnv.txt also didn't help. It d…

Sorry if this is the wrong place. I'm a noob to all this. I've searched the help files, Google, forum posts and can't find anything regarding a tinker board and no signal issue. I've only been able to find posts about Rasberry Pi Orange, and the solution used in those posts don't seem to apply here. I have an Asus Tinkerboard (not the S). Hi all, I am using Armbian Bionic on ASUS Tinkerboard S board(s) in an application where the power may fail at any point. I have now, for the second time, seen a running OS starting to fail with the error. ALERT! /dev/mmcblk0p1 does not exists. Dropping to a shell! I have restarted the board several times, but the error continues. If I do a: (initramfs) blkid /dev/mmcblk2p1: UUID=.... /dev/mmcblk2: PTUUID=.. It seems that the OS tries to boot from the wrong device. If I then, booting from another OS using SD card, change the /boot/boot.cmd rootdev: setenv rootdev "/dev/mmcblk2p1" And rerun the mk…

Hello I've seen threads about this topic before but can't get around if Armbian for Tinkerboard S is working with the official Raspberry Pi display? I have it working great with TinkerOS, problem is that I'm missing some kernel modules like CAN, CAN-raw and SLCAN which ThinkerOS doesn't ship with. That's why I would like to run Armbian instead. This is the display: https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-touch-display/ Can anyone tell me how to get the display working with Armbian?

Hi. I am just wondering what the fastest time people have getting from plug in power to command prompt on something like the NanoPi M1 or Neo. I use one of mine as an command line mp3 player (mpg123) and pretty much that;s all it does apart form some gpio buttons. It does not use network. Are there any tips on speeding up boot so playback can commence faster? I have never build a version of Armbian, but I am willing to give it a try - would a custom version be much faster? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Are there any other images floating around that could demo a faster speed? J.

Hello, I'm trying to build a image using the amazing auto builder supplied by armbian. In the past I've build kernels and modules for linux running at CycloneV-Devices. I don't need graphic support. Is there a way to get it running by using the auto builder? Using the stock image provided by the manufacturer works. Regards, Sombohan

Hello everybody, and thank you Igor for developing, and the community for supporting amrbian, it's really a marvel and works like a charm on my Orange PC. I also apologise beforehand for my lack of experience or knowledge with linux. So, I setup my OPi PC to work as an always-on torrent box using jessie dekstop. I installed transmission on it and it works great, except one thing that causes me problems. I download and seed to torrents on a 64 gb sandisk usb flash key, and every time I reset the device, the usb key gets mounted at a new mount point. For instance, if I set up transmission to use /sandisk/downloads folder to download, it does fine, but after a reset, the os…

I've copied Armbian Ubuntu Focal onto a brand-new SD card and started it on an Orange Pi Zero. This has worked before with the Bionic version. After setting it up and upgrading all packages, I rebooted and everything was running smoothly. Now I've done the same as before but found that the system is totally slow after running for just one day. It's set up to collect data from a 1-Wire temperature sensor and send it to my server. And it lets the green LED blink twice every 30 seconds to show it's still there and has a network connection. The network is connected via Ethernet cable, WLAN is not used. Observation 1: It took half a minute to login the first time t…

The OrangePi One (H3) is on Armbian 22.05 Jammy XFCE and has nothing installed yet, the touch screen is first order of buisness. I have searched for a whil…

A coworker of mine gave me a 5 inch hdmi touchscreen (waveshare knockoff). Getting hdmi to work properly on my orangepi pc was done in a few minutes. But the touchscreen drives me nuts. It came with a xpt2046 so I loaded the ads7846 driver I compiled from fbtft. No error messages, but also no response to a touch. It took me a week to finally realize that not the wiring, the driver or Armbian is was the problem, but the touch digitizer was. So I ordered a new one on my favorite Chinese site and installed it on the lcd. Finally I got a response to touching the screen, but I was not able to calibrate it with xinput_calibrator. After manually calibrating it …

Hi, I started armbian from SD card on a Libre.Computer Le Potato board. Runs like hell and seems much more robust than the Ubuntu 18.04 img that I used before. But how can I get it on my 32 Gb eMMC (5.)??? E.g. the Ubuntu image of Le Potato has a script called ``lc_distro_transfer``. Is there anything similar for armbian? Note: For the Ubuntu image, one has to mount the eMMC after the booting from the SD card has started; kind of ugly, but otherwise the Potato tries to start from the eMMC. Best, Robert

I am aware that the Raspberry Pi 1, 2,3 can transmit Radio waves on GPIO pin 4 and 18. There are even special skins that filter the output. " Previously we posted about the Raspberry Pi’s ability to modulate one of its pins to produce FM transmissions with PiFM. A developer (F5OEO) has recently expanded on this idea, and now the Raspberry Pi is capable of modulating and transmitting FM, AM, SSB, SSTV and FSQ signals anywhere between 130 kHz to 750 MHz. To transmit with the Raspberry Pi all you need to do is plug in a wire antenna to Pin 12 (GPIO 18) on the GPIO port and run the PiTx software by piping in an audio file or image for SSTV. " …

I am just looking for a working image that would have the 8821CU working. I've been able to make it work on Ordoid HC-4, but on N2+, it didn't work. Also, my N2 setup on armbian had some problem. I launched sudo armbian-config, tried to install headers and firmware, but I couldn't. It didn't provide any error message, it just showed the loading bar and quitted quickly (as if it completed). Then I tried Nigthly and I was able to download headers and firmware, but still wasn't able to get 8821CU working (now thinking about it, I don't recall checking out if it was detected from lsusb... I'm not entirely sure). Then I went back to stable and now I'm no longer able to bo…

So i recently bought an Orange Pi 3 and the place where I want to set it up only has a VGA monitor, that's why I decided to buy this generic HDMI to VGA adapter. The adapter works correctly with my laptop but I'm having some issues using it with the Orange Pi 3, the adapter does have video output but it randomly loses the signal and goes to black and after a short time it comes back. I initially suspected it was having some power delivering issues, so I decided to plug in an old MP3 charger I had (500mA) to the micro USB port in the adapter (which is there for this cases, I think), but even with external power connected to the adapter it still loses the signal from time t…

I must have some conflicting options, or my understanding of what these options do is wrong. Can someone help? I did a complete image build.
