Hello, I try build kernel for NanopiNeo board with user kernel patch, but I don't understand with path needed put my patch. In previous version armbian's builds I just put files to userpatches/kernel/sunxi-current how it described in docs. But now with current version Armbian build system it's not working. I put my custom linux-sunxi-current.config to userpatches folder, my patch to userpatches/kernel/sunxi-current and try build kernel with command: ./compile.sh BOARD=nanopineo BRANCH=current kernel I see that linux-sunxi-current.config found and applied but not patch isn't.

Was trying to follow the https://www.armbian.com/participate/ page instructions to get access to Jira, but the link just takes me to Jira and tells me that I don't have access. No option to request access on that page, just "[username] doesn't have access to Jira on armbian.atlassian.net." Does the participate page need updates? Or should I just try to work off of github issues only? Feel free to direct me to the right place if it matters, I would potentially be helping with some nanopi devices, have several r2s and r2s plus - the r2s plus needs some work i think.

Hi, I recently noticed that after updating to 24.02 the package "linux-libc-dev" did not receive a update. I have checked the current armbian archives and couldn't find anything for any arch. Just to be sure i've also built armbian 24.5 images for bananapi (noticed this on a bananapi board) and rpi4b (as a well supported board) and no linux-libc-dev[...].deb was built. It seems that with the buildsystem change the files packages/armbian/mkdebian and packages/armbian/builddeb were retired (commit e98c66b, v23.11.1) which previously handled building the kernel packages and included linux-libc-dev. Unfortunately linux-libc-dev is a dependency for libc6-dev a…

The versioning within Armbian seems to be inconsistent. On a up to date RPi4 The login message states that it is running Armbian 23.11.1: Welcome to Armbian 23.11.1 Jammy with Linux 6.6.18-current-bcm2711 /etc/os-release is listing both 22.04 and 24.2.1: PRETTY_NAME="Armbian 24.2.1 jammy" VERSION_ID="22.04" VERSION="22.04.4 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish)" ARMBIAN_PRETTY_NAME="Armbian 24.2.1 jammy" /etc/armbian-release says it is 23.11.1: VERSION=23.11.1 REVISION=23.11.1 So these are three different versions, making it confusing. Any idea what is going on here?

How to I generate `.img` files? When I run `.compile` I end up with `.deb` files. I've been looking through the scripts but there are so many of them and I want to get to how to do this without having to use commands like: find . -name '*.sh' -print0 | xargs -0 grep compile_uboot | less for a long time. Thank you

I got an issue from a user on a bash script I am sharing on github. The script is to make shrunk img backups on a running system on a lot of different sbc:s. After some testing on the users side (I did not have access to hardware to test) it turned out the script fails because of the partition table, it is GPT while in the past they have always been MBR (msdos). I downloaded the latest opi5 gnome desktop image and looped it and parted shows it is in GPT. We figured out a way to solve it but my question is: is this because rpi5 uses gpt partition table (I do not own a rpi5 either)? Will this be the future of most armbian builds? …

I found it very confusing that Armbian doesn't seem to follow the Ubuntu/Debian traditional scheme for naming kernel modules: linux-image-*, linux-modules-* and linux-headers-*. I need them to cross compile out-of-tree kernel module in `schroot`. Armbian seem to have only `linux-image-edge-rockchip64` and `linux-headers-edge-rockchip64`. What's the reasoning behind such design decision? Moreover, I've noticed kernel packages incorporate all the logic that make the board bootable, instead having more generic kernel binaries and relying on `flash-kernel` tool that both Ubuntu and Debian widely use. I wonder why not? What are chances in future `linux-im…

Hi, I have been recently working on a couple of extensions: lvm and cloud-init I forked off "v23.11.2" tag when creating my branches, since they are extensions, and wont alter the framework much. Today I noticed that OdroidUX4 is not building, but it was building last week. A patch seems to be failing. I guess it is a kernel/driver patch. Then my question is: is it possible that, on the same tag (v23.11.2), builds break? I am starting to think that the tag is only for the build process/patch set, but excludes, for example a reference to kernel code. I suppose then the situation is that a kernel update…

hi I've been using the flag compile.sh PREFER_DOCKER=no while building in a systemd-nspawn container: Building Armbian using Ubuntu (jammy) in a systemd-nspawn container This time I managed to make a complete successful build with my work arounds for loop devices in systemd nspawn. However, the flag PREFER_DOCKER=no Didn't seem to be documented in the build options https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Options/ can the documentation be updated to add PREFER_DOCKER=no flag (at least under 'advanced users') ? note that it isn't possible to run docker normally within systemd-nspawn o…

I am working on support for the ClockworkPi Gameshell main board. I have patches for the kernel, but it seems that the build system applies kernel patches on a "per family" basis. Indeed, looking at the 'kernel-patch.sh' script it seems the BOARD and TARGET variables that would let board specific patches work are commented out. I've read through the example PR's in the docs, but don't see an example of how applying board specific patches should work. I fear that if I put the patches into the normal flow, it will get applied to other boards within the sunxi family and things may break for other boards. Should kernel patches be crafted in a way that they SHOULD …

Hi there, I am trying to build the image using docker, but I get several "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" error messages and as result the build gets interrupted. Would like to stick to docker build (I am running of fedora 39, and it automatically selects docker), as it looks to be far more efficient rather than running it into a VM. Any idea on how could I get rid of this issue? Thanks is advance! Andrea

Please move this message to correct folder, if I used the wrong one. There is a grave bug in the ext4 FS, which was introduced in kernel around 6.1.55 and is fixed in kernel 6.1.66. The bug is causing data coruption and data loss, like new packages aren't installed properly. A fix was introduced today into kernel, in version 6.1.66 Armbian Bookworm 23.11.1 (Debian) comes with 6.1.63 and, according to my knowledge, is affected. When will new kernel packages from armbian be available? References: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1057843 https://fulda.social/@Ganneff/111551628003050712

Hello Armbian Community, I am running Armbian on a Raspberry Pi 4 with a RAID 1 setup for my root filesystem. I've come across a warning in a guide for RaspiOS (link below) suggesting that firmware upgrades could disrupt the RAID setup. Robert Alexa's Guide on GitHub Given this, I have a few questions about handling Armbian kernel updates in a similar RAID configuration: How are kernel updates managed in Armbian when using RAID for the root filesystem, and are there any known issues similar to the one described in the guide? What precautions should I take when applying apt upgrade to ensure that my RAID remains bootable? Is…

Hi! I have been using Armbian for long, but I am new to the Development/build system. I have however set the environment and I can build images. Now, I want to create a custom Armbian image with the following customization: - Separate ext2 partition for boot - second partition for LVM - Root Filesystem in Logical Volume and fixed size. - Cloud Init, with an extra partition for NoCloud Datasource. I see in the documentation how to install new packages, but not how to partition the SD card. How can I change the partitioning? On the other hand. Can I just build an image without compiling the Kernel? …

Hello. I am finished Armbian Jammy 22.05 Bulseye edge 5.16.20 gnome desktop on a Rockpi4 (rk3399). When I try to overclock from Armbian-config, it doesn't work. That is, I can enter the application, apply rockchip-rk3399-opp-2ghz.dtbo. Then reboot, go to armbian-config and set a new unlocked CPU clock speed of 2.2Ghz. But instead it is only available up to a maximum of 1.8hz. How can this be fixed? Do I have to create an image from scratch, or maybe there is some trick?

Hi! I recently managed to boot Armbian on the QuartzPro64 board (RK3588) from Pine64. I also installed Proxmox, which worked out of the box. This is really amazing to me! To do this, I manually replaced the kernel and DTB file from the Armbian image for the OrangePi5 board, since it's based on the same CPU. Now, I would like to build the image for the QuartzPro64 using the Armbian build script. So far, I've already : added a new .conf file in config/boards (based on orangepi5-plus.conf) added a new .config file in config/kernel added a new entry in the list of branch in config/sources/families/rockchip-rk3588.conf. …

Hello, I have a Radxa Rock 4se with an RK3399 Rockchip on board. On my host system I run virtualbox with Ubuntu 22.04. I have build succesfully an armbian configuration for the Rock 4se with an edge kernel(6.6.xx) and it runs perfectly on my board, which also has an Raspbbery Pi camera v2 with the IMX219 which also runs okay. However know I would like to make some adjustments to the imx219.c driver, I know that in the cache directory the linux kernel is available. Can I adjust the imx219.c driver in the cache/sources/linux-kernel-worktree/6.6__rockchip64__arm64 and recompile only the kernel, without that the kernel completly is…

Dear Armbian ARM64 6.6.x kernel people: Orange Pi 5 delivers incorrect larger SCTP chunks to SCTP. from lower IP stack in kernel. This can be seen from the computed CRC-32 checksum below. The packet length is right. This CRC-32 checksum process works correctly on OpenSuSE x86_64 Tumbleweed with kernel 6.5.4-1. It also works correctly on Armbian ARM64 5.10.110. Hence we believe the IP code is faulty in the 6.6.x kernel "stable rolling release" from Armbian. This SCTP driver is used in Telecom by companies like Nokia and Ericsson instead of Linux kernel SCTP and we would like to get it working on the OrangePi 5. Shorter packets like the SCT…

We have 6.6.rc1 kernel installed using Armbian_23.11.0-trunk.105_Orangepi5_jammy_edge_6.6.0-rc1_xfce_desktop.img.xz. I've also installed the Armbian Linux edge headers 6.6.0-rc1-edge-rockchip-rk3588 (linux-headers-edge-rockchip-rk3588 23.11.0-trunk.107). I am able to compile externel kernel modules. I would like to get the kernel source for the 6.6.rc1 kernel. I have cloned the main branch using: git clone --branch=main https://github.com/armbian/build And used the menu system by running compile.sh to select orangepi5 and other options. When it started building I could tell right away it was not working towards the 6.6.rc1 kernel…

I would like to use a CI service to build Armbian images, ideally BitBucket pipelines since that is where most of my projects are. Has anyone had any success doing something similar? I thought it would be easy since docker based builds are supported, but it seems the supported technique is to run a command on the host that starts a separate docker container. Most CI build now are already running in a container and while I think running docker inside docker is possible, I have not been able to get that to work well in the past.

I know this is not the correct area (I have no permissions to post there) but i'm looking to add some basic support for Odroid N2 (and a mainline linux kernel) which others can help utilise for development purposes. Its very early stages as the board was released to testers only weeks ago and for the moment only vendor uboot is working so what is best practice here for Armbian? The old Odroid C2 way of things with uboot might some back for a bit as much as I would like it or not. Baylibre and Neil Armstrong have made a very good start (Thanks Neil!!!!) with alpha style patches for 5.0 and N1. Although there priorities will be working to impleme…

@Igor Probably one of the experts to ask I noticed there has been many changes and documentations not up to date Noticed deprecated options when running the ./compile.sh with options So far so good. I noticed though below behavior and wanted to check if normal or how can I enable the interactive process (asking to proceed if low disk space ) I have created a new vm with latest recommended base os (no desktop) After few tests when space runs low, the interactive options ctrl+c or enter show only if i run the ./compile.sh if i run ./compile.sh uboot-patch (or any option even expert) it kills the compile without asking Any…

Hi guys, I'm running out of ideas... Following situation, I use since years Armbian Bullseye on the HC2 with a 3,5" HDD, with OMV and Syncthing. Now I replaced the HDD with a SDD, copied and work without issues with the old HC2 board. I have as well a HC1 board here, so ideal solution is, change SD and SSD to the HC1 and my expectation is, should work. For sure the MAC would change, but seems the network connection isn't working at all. At least my expectation is, there should be a new address received via DHCP (setting is DHCP). Did I miss some important Armbian specific settings? Maybe there is something set in first run? Both board run seamless with a new f…

As bookworm is stable now I want to update my odroid HC2 from bullseye to bookworm? Any experiences welcome. I know this is not supported. But in principle it should work. I did the update from buster to bullseye and that worked perfectly (see link to threat below). I would just do the same for the new update. But maybe there is one special fact to remember that wasn't necessary for the last update. Jürgen

Ever since I read through THIS POST a while back, I started digging through the cpufrequtils init script, and was a more or less disappointed with what I found. It's largely a product of the CPUs that were available around that time (eg - Pentium 3). Namely that all cores in the system are the same, and there's should be only one master policy that controls everything. Of course ARM big.LITTLE totally breaks these assumptions, and leaves the script with no viable way to specify different schedulers or frequency ranges for each CPU cluster. It still runs, but not really correctly. For example, you can't set the RK3399 little cores above 1.4 GHz, but that's basi…

Could someone point me to a guide / how to / existing build script to create a bootloader image for the Radxa Rock-3a? Context... I'm trying to get a Radxa Rock3c to boot with a modern (6x) Linux kernel. This has the Rockchip rx3566 unlike the Radxa Rock3a which has the rx3568 (supported by Armbian). This is my first time working with u-boot, so I'm trying to follow Rockchip's own guide (here). Sadly that guide seems to be a rather cryptic, poorly translated, and file names don't appear to mach anything I can find. Radxa's own binaries (here) don't seem to know about the rk3566 or rk3568: I get errors when I use mkimage. But other distributio…

Why does Armbian include both include ifupdown AND NetworkManager by default? I'm not aware of anything that ifupdown can do that NM cannot and ifupdown doesn't have a TUI/GUI like NM so as far as I'm concerned ifupdown is just clutter that causes config clashes and boot delays. Isn't it time to strip ifupdown from Armbian? On a related note, I've never got any of the (ifupdown) network config options in armbian-config to work.

Hi all, I'm doing experiments with WiFi monitor mode on AP6212(bcm43430)-based boards with nexmon (driver/fw patching framework for wifi monitor mode). Hello community, I have just been successful building my own image of Ubuntu focal + preempt_rt (kernel 5.15.76-rt53) for my Rock64 board for the first time (a bit of additional background at the end of my post). Exciting! I had a few hiccups along the way, and I need to figure out a few more things. So far I'm happy and impressed with the project. However, given I want to share my work (and the resulting image(s)) I would like to ask for some pointers on what is the best way to go in regards of forking armbian/build and the changes I found myself doing. Hello, the new kernel versioning scheme consists of the latest git tag and several hashes: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/main/lib/functions/artifacts/artifact-kernel.sh With boards like odroid-xu4 for which the upstream git is only updated occasionally, this leads to two problems: 1. the generated version is lower than what is currenty getting shipped: `5.4.228-S3043-De511-P0a53-C0750H6842-Bb436` vs `23.02.2` 2. it cannot be guaranteed that the versions go up reliably: 5.4.232 is `5.4.228-S3043-De511-Pc02c-C0750H6842-Bec1c` and 5.4.233 is `5.4.228-S3043-De511-P0a53-C0750H6842-Bb436` While I can understand using the kernel versi…

Hello, I am trying to port my developed module to the newest Armbian system. Once I had everything worked in very old Armbian developed in 2018 based on kernel 3.4. There is a hardware module connected via i2c1. When my program tries to communicate with it, it doesn't work and I get errors kernel: i2c i2c-1: mv64xxx: I2C bus locked, block: 1, time_left: 0 I've uploaded the diagnosis information to URL: https://paste.armbian.com/aciwalafah There was a problem also in Armbian 22.11 system. I upgraded it after found information about some solution for i2c probem with similar error messages. Please advise. Thanks.

Hello, im trying to map the i2c-2 to some GPIO ports and have to rewrite the device-tree on armbian 22.04. I'm failing miserably and have no idea how-to do it. I think we should do exactly the opposite. As soon as the author realizes that his codebase has begun to create stable images for the family\branch, he can invite the most active members of this group to test and fix bugs. That is, errors, changes must be made in this branch. While the master should remain stable and not create problems for the current work.

I'm attempt to do two simple switches via GPIO on OrangePi R1 LTS Plus using RK3328 using .Net Core and here my code snippet. GpioController ioc = new GpioController(PinNumberingScheme.Logical, new RockchipDriver(gpioRegisterAddresses: new uint[] { 0xFF21_0000, 0xFF22_0000, 0xFF23_0000, 0xFF24_0000 })); int iPin=RockchipDriver.MapPinNumber(???) // where do I find the information to do logical pin number mapping? ioc.OpenPin(iPin); ioc.SetPinMode(iPin, PinMode.InputPullUp); PinValue v=ioc.Read(iPin); Thanks for reading and any suggestion is appreciated.

Hello All, To all striking with sdcard issues , I have a good news today! NORMAL AND FIGHTING WAY Normally you put your sdcard on a adapter on a big computer you have flashed with a working and booting sbc to be able to flash the emmc and then you copy the .img.xz you have downloaded on it , put the card in the sbc and boot on it to have access to the dd command from there. Unfortunately the result will depend on your sdcard quality, I experienced many bad block so I get bored. Yesterday have a flash, LET'S TAKE THE BUNNY HIGHWAY! I found a way faster and safer to do it to circonvent the sdcard: tempfs! …

Hi, I need to modify the kernel to enable the USB networking ability for my network of development boards. (currently 1master & 10servers) we need to use usb connections for networking functionalities. My question: is it possible to modify the linux kernel without compiling a whole image from scratch. We are now developing a network of mashines and are thinking ahead, doing some planning, to reduce our workload in the future and for avoiding the need to reinstall all the OSes on the whole network. Optimally we would never need to reinstall an image /only reboot a mashine and do meaningful changes on the kernel over ssh. Metaphoricallly speaking…

I was doing some testing today on aml-s9xx-box builds and noticed that with meson64-current (6.0.13) kernels the boot logo is showing, but with meson64-edge (6.1.0) kernels it does not. I know there was a recent commit that probably is causing this, something about removing the old way of handling boot logos. So my question is, what needs to change to convert to the new way? I suspect it has something to do with the append line that the build process is inserting into the extlinux.conf file: append root=UUID=0ffde9aa-5a6a-4d6f-bbef-0d8daf439537 rw no_console_suspend c onsoleblank=0 fsck.fix=yes fsck.repair=yes net.ifnames=0 bo…

Hi all, I have a bit of an odd application, but given the recent effort being put into UEFI boot, I thought I'd ask for some help. I have a Gigabyte R152-P30, which is an Ampere 80 core, single socket server. Flash drive boot works just fine, but nand-sata-install onto the server's NVMe SSD has been troublesome. I've tried several permutations of having partitions and not having partitions on the NVMe drive, but none seem to actually create a bootable result. I see on the generic armbian image page that it suggests creating an EFI partition which I do (nvme0n1p1). It then proceeds to leave that partition empty. I also have another btrfs…

Hello everyone, I wanted to propose that the q8 tablets be included in the compilation script, I have several q8 tablets, at the beginning I used my own rootfs, but armbian is fantastic !! counting the modifications I make to the armbian rootfs I think it would be easy, in the firmware repository you already have the majority of hardware such as 8723 and other Wi-Fi chips, with respect to the uboot the templates that already incorporate the main repository work almost perfectly, no I know, could I help, I have the components, the dtb and the compiled uboot, how do you see it? Hello, fresh installed Armbian desktop OS detects attached HDMI display as full HD with correct resolution 1920x1080. But after some restarts it loads in u-boot with correct resolution and then, on kernel startup switches to 1024x768 and also desktop opens with this resolution without an option to increase it. The armbianEnv.txt file in /boot folder contains string disp_mode=1920x1080p60 and was not changed. Please advise.

Hello, just discovered ability to support legacy USB gadgets. There is UDC called max3420_udc and also gadgetfs module. By using startup script mkdir /dev/gadget modprobe max3420_udc modprobe gadgetfs mount -t gadgetfs none /dev/gadget it appears to be possible to use old gadget developed for kernel 3.4. Hello, once I developed my appliance based on Armbian with Kernel 3.4. And the goal of the appliance was to work as custom USB gadget. The appliance was based on sunxi_usb_udc. Now, after big delay I returned to the need of bulding a new appliance with similar functionality. As far as I understand, there is a problem with UDC module in kernel 5.x. Am I right? Can I build my custom system based on legacy (v.4.x) kernel to workaround the problem or there is a better suggestion with available information for fast startup? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Since volatile journald logging is done in-memory in /run/log/journal, and made persistent in /var/log.hdd/journal, the rsync of /var/log/journal in nand-sata-install no longer works because it is a symlink to /var/log.hdd/journal in the live system, and will create a circular symlink when booting from NAND. On the target image /var/log is the folder that is directory-mounted to /var/log.hdd during boot. I propose to exclude /var/log from the rsync, and rsync /var/log.hdd to /var/log on the target image. Another solution could be to exclude only /var/log/journal from the rsync, and create an empty /var/log/journal in the target image. Kind reg…

Just started with creating custom images for an Orange Pi R1+ LTS board. In my build I'd like to compile some custom C++ applications using CMake, then install them onto the root file system to run on the board. Couldn't find much on this on the docs, though maybe I haven't looked hard enough! A couple of questions: I noticed the customize-image.sh script in the build repository - would amending this script be the intended method for this kind of functionality or is there another, better way? How would I provide CMake the relevant info to compile correctly for the board. Thanks in advance.

Lets say I wish to creat three kernels with different timer settings like 100Hz/250Hz/1000Hz. The name of the generated SDcatd image is always the same which is not helpful. When I want to use them later as well for a multiboot scenario, so swtchable kernels, I need as well different names, so it is not only to rename the image files. USing Menuconfig, I could normally put a localization extension to it...when I do this, the image creation process fails as the system looking into wrong folder names. So, is there an alrernative path ? Or is this a bug ?

I'm writing from a limited perspective, so constructive criticism appreciated. In this thread, I'm recording some thoughts about how the OS gets from files into the memory of various boards, and what might make this more unified and easier and/or more flexible. Current U-boot My knowledge comes from the mvebu64 and rockchip64 families. At this time, the board boot process starts from code in the processor that attempts to find u-boot, and u-boot runs a script from its environment that searches for a UEFI application or a boot.scr file. They call this "Distro-boot" Armbian uses the boot.scr to load an uncompressed kernel image and a compressed initramdisk, alo…

Sorry to ask such a beginner question, but I am still learning about Armbian... When I install debian Kernels from Kernel.org myself, I find this in my source-folder of the distro which I created when unzip/tar the Kernel. But as Armbian does this in the backround for me...where is this folder ? RTLA is a new tool to use osnoise tracer and needs to be compiled from source. https://lwn.net/Articles/869563/ THX

Hi all, first post here. I have an orange pi zero and I want to develop some C++ apps on it. My app is going to be a bit big, and at the moment compiling it on the ZERO takes FOREVER (I guess its just the RAM, not CPU)! Compiling it on my intel i9 PC is just a matter of seconds. So I managed to find gcc-linaro-10.2.1-2021.04-x86_64_arm-linux-gnueabihf and I can cross compile and then remotely debug it on the ZERO....life is much better now all of the sudden. But I have some concerns, would be nice if you walk me though: 1) I am running Armbian 20.04 on the ZERO which I believe is compiled with GCC 9.3.0. I could not find a Linaro pack…

Hi there! Issue: Installing required package for Python face_recognition takes almost 15-20 hours to install using my Orange Pi One. Hi there, let's assume I have two custom extra packages which have a dependency in extras-buildpkgs. 10-package1.conf 20-package2.conf 20-package2 has a package_builddeps to 10-package1. I have built an image for BananaPi M3 using build and docker. I can install fine on 16GB cards, but anything larger is failing on the mmcblk0 partition resize and then is going into repeated fsck's and failed boots. I have built armbian debian stretch years before and had it installing and running fine on the BananaPi M3, on 256GB uSD Cards. I tried manually extending the partition from an imaged smaller one running parted followed by resize2fs and it had the same crashing on boot. The boots a bit too fast to ascertain where its crashing but it might be the uDev step. Can anyone offer any help with this

Was in dire need of Armbian on my new toy, the HBP with a iMX8Q CPU ;-) The board features dual WWAN (PCIe + M.2) sockets for highspeed 3G/4G/5G modems with a SIM socket. Wipped up this WIP configuration and it builds and runs with: ``` $ ./compile.sh BOARD=hummingboardpulse-imx8q BRANCH=legacy RELEASE=buster BUILD_MINIMAL=no BUILD_DESKTOP=no KERNEL_ONLY=no KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no ``` NOTE: It uses the HDMI and LPDDR4 binary blobs from NXP. I know most of you probably don't want to hear any more about this chip, but I recently fixed quite a few long standing issues. It's not perfect yet, but it improves scanning/reliable reconnect, incoming frames missed in powersave, ping times, and rate selection. Here's the patch set: https://github.com/fifteenhex/xradio/pull/12 Edit: rebased from karabek: https://github.com/dbeinder/xradio/commits/karabek_rebase And some important comments about powersave: https://github.com/fifteenhex/xradio/pull/11#issuecomment-616226880 In short, relative to the current version, with powersave on, idle consumption is lower by 200mW, but with powersave off, it is 300mW hig…

Hello everyone, I have a screen of 1280x800 resolution. while connecting the screen to my rockpi-4b, the resolution is set to 1024x768, and there is no 1280x800 option in the display setting panel. after learning from Internet for days, I think the root is that my screen doesn't have a correct EDID information. so I made some changes to let the kernel ignores the screen's edid information and use specified edid file. The resolution is successfully set to 1280x800, the only problem is that the screen display is shaking, as the attached video shows. The edid file's timing settings are shown as below: I tried to change the settings but it doesn't wo…

I think I'm finally managing to understand this Armbian build system. It's an amazing piece of work! However, after the build, many source files end up owned by the root user. There's just a lot of activity going on "as root" that probably doesn't need to be run with that privilege. Disaster seems just one build script error away. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a simple way to avoid this (without resorting to virtualization of the build environment). Has this not bothered anyone else?

Dear all, I occasionally have a full /var/log at startup on various boards, probably because the logs are not rotated /vaccuumd at boot (we had a thread about this in the old opi1 forum). The rotating /vaccuum is currently done every 15 minutes, so I figured why not do it directly at boot as well? Hello, I've finally gotten around to writing the GitHub Actions based Linux Kernel Shallow git trees exporter. It's very simple, a single shell script and GHA workflow. It prepares shallow bundle (and ready-to-go .tar too) everyday on a schedule and publishes to GitHub Releases. Please take a look https://github.com/rpardini/armbian-git-shallow - theres a README that shows how to use the bundles outside of Armbian. If this is a good idea, I'd move it to armbian/kernel-git-shallow in GitHub. And then I'd start using those in armbian-next first as a test ground. I mention I few people I know are interested in the subject @Igor and…

Sorry, I know it is a noob question.
