I found it quite interesting the Banana PI M3, however the block diagrams seems to show the SATA interface is connected to the USB bus. Has someone the experience of using it?

  3. Hi - I flashed a new nanopineo2 with debian9 ( Armbian_5.44.180510_Nanopineo2_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.40 ) and set this to stable build before updating to latest "stable". Next step after reboot is to configure my static network ( eth0 ), but here things tend to be a bit different than previous flash ? Previously in advanced I edited /etc/network/interfaces to add my DNS-servers but in this build it seems " Network is managed by NetworkManager " so I instea I used " nmtui " to set these for "Wired Connection 1". Unfortunately I still see in /etc/resolv.conf : " nameserver 8.8.8.8 " first before my entries. I like to get rid of this nameserver but I am unable to…

  4. I am currently trying to set up the PICAN GPS+ACC Rev B on my NanoPi M4 in order to receive CAN connections. I have previously set this up on a Raspberry Pi with no issues, but because the NanoPi does not have /boot/config.txt and /boot/cmdline.txt I am at a loss at how to set up the module. Any information as to how I can go about using the module on the NanoPi would be much appreciated. The guide I used to set up the module on the Raspberry Pi is here http://skpang.co.uk/catalog/images/raspberrypi/pican/PICANGPSACC_V1.pdf Thanks

Hello! Use case is mostly about turning the kitchen TV into a kitchen PC, with main purpose displaying some market charts while I'm cooking (doing this on a phone is a pain in the eyes). Someone might try eventually to browse facebooks or download movies on that TV, but that's not important. Software displaying such charts available for Linux and ARM is mostly Java platforms (I believe Java is architecture-independent, the applications at least, but I might be wrong), using 300-800 MB RAM and 10-30% on a low-end x86 CPU. The Orange Pi+ 2E seems like the best thing for such hobo desktop purpose, mostly because people's support for it, but the H5 SoC advertis…

  6. I have an orange pi plus 2e running 24/7 as a file server, torrent box, plex server, pi-hole etc. It has been running fine for the first few months I have gotten it. Recently the usb HDD that is connected to it started disconnecting often during heavy loads ( downloading torrents) or sometimes randomly. I assumed that it was the usb power adapter fault ( I used a samsung 5a 2v power adapter ) and I replaced it with an identical one. However the problem still persist. Could it be the usb to barrel plug cable that is sold from aliexpress be at fault?

I have some difficulties to find clear information regarding the consumption of the different Orange Pi boards. Now I found this project on Github RPi-MonitorWatcher Raspberry Pi Monitor Watcher is an Android application to view the status of your Raspberry Pis. It uses the API provided by Raspberry Pi Monitor. Someone might now think "my mobile has a browser" what do I need this for. Because you can I cannot find an .apk if you are smarter than me and know what I have to do to get this I would be grateful. Cheers Tido

I am looking to replace 3 OrangePi boards with a H3 CPU with one board. Every board has a RTL-SDR USB stick attached to it, and the software tends to load up the CPU a lot on at least one core, in some cases the total load is high on 2 cores. To make it all easier / simpler I would like to replace the 3 with one board with enough processing power, but nothing extreme. The goal is that it will be in an enclosure up the antenna mast, POE fed, so not easily accessible! I even looked at the Atomic Pi, but I am not so sure about processing power in that unit.. (I might be wrong though!) Browsing the options online, I saw the NanoPi M4 which looks like a good candid…

I'm looking for a more recent SBC to run a small, low power server (think pihole, homeassistant, zigbee, etc). I don't have specific requirements, but I'd like the board to have some kind of "long term support" and I'd also like to choose something that the armbian team would recommend, maybe from a manufacturer …

I have recently stumbled upon an #armbian channel at FreeNode and noticed that there is a small, but growing, Armbian user community gathering there. It doesn’t seem any developers are there, but since the number of participants has already in double digits, it is fair to say that it is at least an unofficial Armbian user channel. In case you are an IRC person, you are hereby kindly invited to join our idle chatter at: irc://freenode.net/#armbian NB: The forums are still the official communication channel and I made sure to include that in the channel’s topic.

Hello all, I've been recently burned by a failing SD card (armbianmonitor -v possibly saved me a much worse fate!) and I'm now trying to proactively avoid a similar situation. I found that WD has a line of cards that claim a health status feature that "Helps in preventive maintenance by signaling when the card needs to be replaced". One of them is the Purple QD101 that seems reasonably priced at $15 for 64GB. I'm not finding much in the way of details of how this is exposed though. Is there any way to get access to this information on linux?

I could package up zips, pull them with wget, unzip and overwrite files in the file system with the contents of the zip. Maybe include a script_pre.sh and script_post.sh to run before and after the file copy/replace routine. Any other ideas, suggestions, frameworks?

Also el-cheapo shops like lightinthebox sell the C270. Benefit of such a cam is that you now have a cable from your SBC to your cam which makes (physical) cam installation easier IMHO. Also IMHO the C270 is a better camera than the famous GC2035, but it is also more expensive. Price / 'bang for the buck' ratio is more or less the same for both camera’s if you ask me. Today I gave OpenMediaVault another try - because 2 of my "very" old NAS-Boxes (normally sitting on a cupboard) only support SMB v1 and I dont know how long my Synology DS109 will live. Yes - I got 2 NanoPi Neo2 with NAS-Case, but for a test-ride I compiles stretch for the Cubieboard A10 (because of the SATA-Port). While installing OpenMediaVault vis softys in armbin-config the install-script has to install the OMV Keyring. The packages where downloaded 100% and then softys came to to line with the keyring and did break the "install-screen". I did see any action from the Cubieboard After a while I did press Ctrl-C and did reboot and tried to install …

  54. Hi, I'm part of a nonprofit working on improving access to digital education in the developing world. I'm looking for a fairly cheap SBC (<$20) that has a HDMI port so that it can be connected to a TV monitor (including old TVs like CRTs). The microSD card will be preloaded with static webpages from educational websites so that students can surf these websites at home. It should also have bluetooth or a USB port so it can be connected to a keyboard ($10) or mouse ($1). I don't strictly need wifi (the microSD cards can be updated on a different device), but it would be a plus. Another nice-to-have would be compatibility with Android apps, since…

So this morning, I went nuts and spent > 400 USD sending everyone in my family some Armbian swag. I figure, it's a good way to get the word out there to friends and family ab…

  60. So the question is "why does disconnecting and reconnecting power cause a shutdown SBC to boot?" If I have an SBC and I shut it down (e.g. using "shutdown now") then it enters an inactive state. However, I haven't done anything with the power supply - the board is still powered. So what changes in the state of the board as a result of cycling the power? If nothing changed then it would continue in the same inactive state as before? But instead, it boots up when power is restored. I'm guessing the answer varies by board. On the Raspberry Pi it seems that on doing a shutdown the shutdown process writes a volatile magic number that can be read by the …

I tried several times (6 or 7) to use the "Search" function, typing either "OBS" or "OBS Studio", but the page crashed everytime, prompting me to wait 30 seconds (in vain). So I'm considering buying an Odroid N2+ and installing Armbian on it. Unfortunately due to earlier version of BIOS compare to same looking GeoBook 1E but with dualcore Celeron N4020 it cannot boot from microSD card. Speakers are rubbish but it could be good for some low powered machine projects. And one advice. Do not change "Quick boot" option in BIOS setting or it will not boot and you will need to unplug battery to reset BIOS.
