Hi all, as a small status update on the seafloor business, here are some pictures of the new Odroid C2 based instruments which will be deployed in September/October in the northers Pacific. Ten modules with different functionality will be deployed, all based on a standard setup of Odroid C2, TRB3sc FPGA based TDC DAQ system, one PADIWA preamp, and a modded mdedia converter serving as a fully configurable mini switch. One of the modules carries several Hamamatsu mini spectrometers, as well as a camera, to observe bioluminescence. Another module is targeting at muon tracking with SiPM based readout: …

Hello Forum, i am using a vdr headless server with 3 Technisat Skystar USB tuners for satellite television streaming. Before i used a raspberry pi 2 but because of limitations with its ethernet bandwith i went to odroid c2. System is now armbian with self compiled vdr with vnsi plugin, both out of git repo. System runs fine but after some hours (8h) a sporadic failure occurs and (USB?) system becomes unusable, To get the 3 dvb-s2 tuners running i increased the urb pool (USB request block) with kernel parameter "coherent_pool=6M" in boot.ini. I calculated that every of all 3 instances of driver needs about 512kB of USB buffer memory, without the option the first inst…

Hi I'm wondering why chromium is missing from the ODroid C2 image when taking the non-desktop image and then adding the necessary packages to get a minimal X working? Planning to just build it from source, but wondering why it was missing from the core armbian distro? Is there a reason?

I cannot find the serial number with Armbian 23.02.2 on ODroid C4. On ODroid C2 with Armbian 22.11.2 and older versions it was readable on /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/serial-number. This does not exist anymore on C4. I do not know if it depends on Armbian version or board type.

Hi, after doing some last changes (hopefully) to Uboot and the kernel, I have some questions on how to get the new Uboot and kernel on eMMC (I can't reinstall everything on a cleanly etched system). I have normal build environment, with mainline kernel and v2017.11. compile.sh gives me a new image without problems. The target system is running nicely on a 128GB eMMC, but how can I safely install the new Uboot and the new kernel to my eMMC? I would really be happy to have one of the experts telling me how to proceed without killing my system Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated. Michael

The proposed solution here (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/4824) basically performs a power-reset of the SDCARD in the final moments in order to prepare for the bootloader's (Uboot) restart. What puzzles me is that the kernel has a Watchdog feature which seems to operating fine as witnessed by the console log "watchdog: watchdog0: watchdog did not stop!" meaning that the watchdog driver has been told to disregard attempts to disable it (which is fine in the context that the watchdog is being used to reset the cpu). The problem is, the watchdog never times-out because, i presume, something is still "kicking the dog" (there seems to be a worker thread tas…

hi all . i think sd card is much shorter life time and restricted size ( 64G ~ 128G and big size is too expensive ). so as server , i like to use hard disk as root . for this purpose , nand-sata-install.sh is excellent ( but too complex for me to understand ) . i use nand-sata-install.sh on odroid-c2 armbian . and on working armbian , i run next script . So as we know, the Hardkernel kernel did support powering the device on and off via a GPIO pin. This does not seem to work on Armbian with the mainline kernel. What does work is powering the device on and off with the remote control. So I wonder, what has to be done to enable power on and off vie the GPIO? My approach till now makes it possible to shutdown the device via GPIO interrupt. But then it will not come up again except if I reconnect the power cord or use the remote. I use this user device three overlay btw: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; /{ fragment@0 { target = <&ao_pinctrl>; __overlay__ { powe…

Hi, On an Odroid C2, I used to read IP camera stream with ffmpeg without HW decoding, as it was not available yet. After reading many threads on this forum, regarding hw decoding through ffmpeg, I decided to give a try....but without any success. First of all, I tried to decode the Sintel.2010.720p.mkv file, and it worked well. This is the command I used: ffmpeg -c:v h264_v4l2m2m -i Sintel.2010.720p.mkv -an -vf fps=1 -f image2 -strftime 1 "/dev/shm/cam1_%S.jpg" (This takes a snapshot every second from the video file) And I got this output: [h264_v4l2m2m @ 0xaaaab68e84f0] driver 'meson-vdec' on card 'Amlogic Video Deco…

Now checked on Odroid C2 an image 5.76 with MALI and a media script, by a technique with replacement of u-boot, as for K2. Everything works fine. After installing the script, the standard browser began to play video 1080 full screen without brakes. MPV is just as easy to handle any full-screen video. Bonus has an in-house sound via HDMI. There is one caveat when configuring - it is necessary to specify the correct DTB option in the file for Odroid C2 "/extlinux/extlinux conf". 1. Copy of the standard u-boot from the working SD card. dd if=/dev/mmcblkXXX of=u-boot_odroid_c2.img bs=1M count=4 2. Burn the image Armbian for TV Boxing…

Hi, I use the C2 connector J2 signals to control power distribution for several attaches devices. A n-channel MOSFET is driven by a GPIO signal, with pulldown (3k3) to ensure that the n-channel MOSFET is off, - as long as the GPIO pin is in tristate or input state. I considered this to be the case for all "normal" GPIO lines (except I2C and SPI). I see now that after powerup, at least GPIOX_5 is active and switches on my load until I can export the GPIOX_5 and drive it low. Does anyone know if the GPIO lines are driven actively after powerup / reset? And if so, can this behaviour be changed in U-boot or kernel environment? The philosophy of t…

Hi, I want to change the resolution to a custom setting. In order to do this I changed the /boot/boot.ini file to custombuilt and include the relevant modeline for my display. When I start the odroid, it crashes. I then tried to just use setenv display_autodetect "true" and no preset selected, it also crashes. Perhaps I misunderstand auto_detect, but when I set the custombuilt option with the right modeline, it still won't work.. any ideas?

Before I was able to manually send CEC commands to my tv with cec-client. However I'm not sure how it works with Linux kernel CEC implementation. I know /dev/input0 is the node for CEC, I just have no idea what to do in this case. In case of cec-client, I would use the website cec-o-matic, but is there also a site like this for the kernel implementation of CEC? The reason I want this, is because I need to power on a tv with a remote using the odroid.

Hi, I am trying to get the official Hardkernel RTC board working. This board requires the driver module "rtc-pcf8563.ko" which is not included in the image by default. So I went through the kernel compiling tutorial, to add this module to my "own" kernel, and copy it over to my main system. First problem: the kernel version was different: main system is at version 4.18.8, while the module was compiled for 4.18.20. I could fix this by myself be defining the KERNELBRANCH='tag:v4.18.8'. Second problem: the "linux family" has changed. My main system is at Armbian version 5.60 for family "odroidc2". The driver module was compiled for "meson64"…

I needed a kernel upgrade to be able to run some applications. I value stability over cutting edge features so I decided to try the Debian image. However I detected a few things that are not working properly. 1. USB almost never works. Most of the time my very plain USB keyboard won't be detected. There is an error message right at the start of the boot sequence "Failed to get keyboard state from device[...]". I have to shutdown and start multiple times by plugging off the power cable and I also keep trying different USB ports. Some rare times the keyboard will work though, even with the above error message. Even rarely I don’t see the error message at the boo…

Hi. I want to use CAN interface on ODROID C2 board. I use external CAN-bus controller like MCP2515 via SPI interface. So, i need to enable SPI and CAN-bus peripherals and in kernel. So, could someone explain me how to do that? I know about device tree, but don`t know what to do. Just give me some guide links about device tree management, any examples, etc.

I am trying to connect a PPS source to an ODROID-C2 board using GPIO. I am running Armbian 19.11.3 Buster, with kernel 5.3.11-meson64. I downloaded the Armbian kernel source for this kernel, added the following to meson-gxbb-odroidc2.dts, and compiled and installed it: pps { compatible = "pps-gpio"; gpios = <&gpio GPIOY_3 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; status = "okay"; interrupt-parent = <&gpio_intc>; interrupts = <26 IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_LOW>; }; When I boot and load the pps-gpio module, I get the following error: pps-gpio pps: failed to map GPIO to IRQ: -6 pps-gpio: probe of pps failed with error -22 …

Hello, I installed Armbian on my Odroid C2 and need to run a 32-bit application. When I try to run it I get No such file or directory so I tried to install ia32-libs but can't find it for Armbian, even tried to compile the application on my Odroid C2 but it runs out of memory (tried with swap files too but it didn't work). Can someone lend me a hand please? Thanks

Hi, maybe someone can give me a hint... I have a running system now on 128GB eMMC card, and wanto to use GPIO. I have /sys/class/gpio/ with export, and unexport files, and two gpiochip0 and gpiochip14 entries. Unfortunately I can't export pins, as export 231 > /sys/class/gpio/export gives me a (as user and root) bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument Any help is appreciated. EDIT: works now. It is somehow a bit complicated, as the "usual" numbers as known from 3.x kernels vanished. Debug output shows two "gpiochips", with a certain number of pins, which you have to correlate to the device tree enums for that "chips" - …

I did a quick install of the desktop image for the ODROID C2. It sees no audio devices (HDMI - or any of the half dozen or so USB Audio devices I quickly tried). However, I have a app I wrote that builds a custom "kitchen sink" version of FFMPEG (everything is enabled). I built it on the C2 (to get a compile time), and noticed the sound did work from the app (and it sounded great). I wish I would have had more time to investigate why no audio devices are detected, and further, why I am able to play sound (only from the one app). Sorry. I am just trying to be helpful in saying "hey - the sound IS there - some users just may not be able to immediately get to…

Hi all am trying to make a router out of my odroid c2 using the mainline kernel but am trying to configure mini jumbo frames to support my PPPoE on a FTTP line but am getting errors from the kernel when attempting to enable the 1508MTU needed to support it. my question is do these adaptors support jumbo frames on any kernel or is it just the mainline kernel not supporting them.

Hi everyone, I have Radxa Zero 4GB-64GeMMC model. I'm using latest Armbian (22.05.3) on microSD card. I want to connect my portable SSD (500GB) to RZ with USB3.0 hub that has additional power imput to support energy hungry devices. I checked usb hub is working with 16GB usb flash. My ssd use realtek RTL9210 chip. I also get similar problem with 32gb mSD card formatted with FAT32. When I connected the SD card reader, other device that uses same hub become slaggish and do not working properly. If I unplag sd card or ssd everything back normal. I thing there is a driver problem. Hello Igor, In past threads, it seems a bit argued about the zram module, but will not the zram module be enabled by default on other arm boards? I am using odroid-c2, but it is effective in hardkernel? It seems that it is becoming. If possible, if Armbian seems to have no problem, I want it to be valid. https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=136&t=20116 $ grep "ZRAM" /boot/config-3.14.79-odroidc2 CONFIG_ZRAM=y # CONFIG_ZRAM_LZ4_COMPRESS is not set # CONFIG_ZRAM_DEBUG is not set $ lsmod | grep zram $ cat /etc/armbian-release # PLEASE DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BOARD=odroidc2 BOARD_NAME="Odroid C2" VERSION=5.31 LINUXF…

Hello I use the odroidn2 build, (slightly patched with dts add patch) for my Dreambox one/two (s922X). My Broadcom Wlan chip BRCM4356A2 is not supported in either etch or current. Hello, A GPS module ublox is connected to a odroid c2 board on GPIOX.12 and GPIOX.13 for the RX and TX and GPIOX.10 for the PPS. The board is running the stable kernel 4.19.42-meson64 from Armbian based on Debian stretch which was dist-upgraded to Debian buster. I am trying to get the /dev/pps0 entry using GPIOX.10 to finish the chrony setup but I cannot find the correct syntax in the DTS file. Any pointer or idea ? I try either of the gpios line below, none of them seems to be correct. pps { gpios = "< 0x1e 0x66 0x0 >"; #gpios = "<&gpiox 10 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>"; #gpios = "< 0x66 >"; assert-fall…

I'm using an Odroid C2 and need some newer software packages than those found in the Ubuntu 16.04 repositories, so I installed the legacy (3.14.79) version of the Debian server edition of Armbian, then upgraded it to Debian 9. I've installed xorg, lightdm, etc and now have a very functional desktop. However, I want to install a 3D CAD program that **I think** would perform better if I had 3D accelerated graphics installed. I'm a complete noob when it comes to 3D graphics drivers. I assume they're not installed, as I see this on my Orange Pi PC 2 running the desktop version of Ubuntu: $ lsmod | grep mali mali_drm 2732 1 drm …
