Hi all, i am completely new to armbian and to be honest not yet completely convinced to change from bananian even that the time should have come. Until now, on my Bananapi M1, bananian was running without any problems. A few days ago, i tried to get familiar to armbian (debian stretch) for the first time on a test-SD-card. Now my problem: Since these tests, i am not able anymore to shutdown my running bananian-system to power off. The system seems to halt, but the power is not turned off and a few seconds later the Bananapi restarts. The problem remains even on a clear bananian1604-image. But: On the testSD-card under armbian the shutdown comm…

Hi, I yesterday built a new image for my A20-OLinuXino-MICRO board (Armbian 5.17 Jessie with kernel 4.7.3) At first boot, everything worked fine. I could manage to connect through SSH and changed root password and add new user. However, avec adding a Hard Disk (on the SATA connector) and reboot, I could not manage to connect via SSH So I tried the serial (UART) connector. After some tries and a non responding console (I could see no kernel messages at boot to I had to change the verbosity), I finally succeeded in booting with a console prompt on serial connector. But... The keyboard is not responding on that serial connector. After a few tries,…

Hello! I've built my own sbc using the Allwinner H3 chip, and I'm looking to get a custom armbian image running on it. I've already successfully compiled an image by adding a new config to u-boot and armbian-build, and a device tree to the linux kernel. Now I'm looking to get the WiFi working, but I can't seem to find where I can change its pin definitions. I'm using the AP6212: the SDIO pins are connected to SDC1 (aka mmc1) like every other board, but the WL_REG_ON (aka WL-PMU-EN) and WL_HOST_WAKE (aka WL-WAKE-AP) pins are connected to GPIO pins different from all other boards, so I'll need to change their pin assignments in the kernel manually. B…

My OrangePi Zero is on 23.02 and I intend to stay with it (unless/until xradio wifi works on kernel 6.x). Should I go ahead and install these ev…

Hello, I own several Orange Pi 3 which I bought at different times. The last batch couldn't run the firmware I used previously: the ethernet was broken. So I suspect there is a new ethernet chipset on it. Current Armbian (Armbian_22.08.1_Orangepi3_jammy_current_5.15.63) works on both types. How could I differentiate the chipsets from the command line? Thank you

Hi, I have been messing around with an Orange Pi One Board for a day or 2 now. So far the only distro that works has been yours. But I have the weirdest thing when I apply an update. Excuting apt-get update actually causes the machine to lose power completly. I have been looking at more data this is what I have. After and before the crash. Last freeze with htop analyzing. Am I missing something? I don't see a good reason for this to happen. Is there a common method to fix this if it is a known issue?

Hi everybody, I'm trying to build an owncloud server with my Cubieboard2 dual card, using a Debian Jessie based rom. I download both the Vanilla and legacy versions, but when I put them on the SD.. the system does not boot! The official images hosted on sunxi servers are different between the "normal" version (with NAND) and mine (with two sd slots, 1 for boot and 1 for data, but no NAND). It could be this the problem? I'm also trying to start with a clean debian installation trhough official installer for armhf but no success. Thanks a lot and have a great end of the year!

https://pastebin.com/jpG4iGtX Not sure what else more to say. I included the whole upgrade process including the restart in the paste above. I'll now prepare another sd card using a fresh nightly image and check if this boots normal or if nightly is currently broken at all. Edit: Yep. Current nightly is broken. Pretty much the same errors https://pastebin.com/pGAG1iUy Armbian_5.51.180708_Orangepioneplus_Debian_stretch_dev_4.18.0-rc3 Edit2 Armbian_5.51.180706_Orangepioneplus_Debian_stretch_dev_4.17.4 confirmed working.

I'm trying to get a 4K 5.5" LCD to work (only console mode needed ) . U-boot can get it on at the desired resolution : 2160x3840 ( yes it's a portrait mode ) and display correctly . The display adapter (HDMI>MIPI) have 3 options ( switching between 3 different EDID ) , the 2 others are working correctly ( 1080x1920 , 1440x2560 ) . I 'm wondering if this is related to simpleFB limitation , or memory allocation ... problem is that I'm a complete noob ... I can provide any information needed as long as you tell me what…

Hi there, I'm trying to run luma.examples using an SSD1322 display via an SPI interface. I think I got the wiring right but the software is responding with errors. The app is expecting D/C and RESET parameter via a GPIO pin numbers to control the display.. I'm not sure how the Nano PI NEO Air physical pins are mapped to a GPIO port under Armbian. Where can I get a list of mappings for the physical pins to the GPIO pin numbers? How does this work? Is this an OS specific thing? Thanks in advance. Hello, I've just purchased a PCduino3B. I installed Armbian (Jessie Desktop) on it. Since I've done this I have the issue of the HDMI signal dropping out occasionally. This has happened with 2 different HDMI cables and 2 different monitors (one an actual PC monitor, the other my Panasonic Plasma TV). Has anyone else come across this issue before? Is there anything I can check? Also I'm having trouble getting the wired network to connect using the WICD Network Manager (The Wifi connects OK). Is there anything I can check here? I haven't used Linux for many years and am very rusty on troubleshooting issues. Many thanks in advance for your help. No.42

Hey all, I just bought an Orange Pi PC Plus and I intend to use it as an access point for multiple networks. According to https://renaudcerrato.github.io/2016/10/01/virtual-ssid-hostapd/ I used "iw list" to check if the wifi card supports multiple SSIDs. And it looks like it isn't. iw list displays "interface combinations are not supported" Is that just a driver/kernel issue or does the card really don't support multiple SSIDs? Cheers, luphi

Hi, I have a OrangePi+ 2E running ARMBIAN 5.33 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.13.5-sunxi The system is installed and runs well from EMMC, but now that I have it set up more or less as I want it, I tried to boot from sdcard to do a emmc backup as here I tried first plugging the original SD that was nand-installed to emmc, but the system would only boot to emmc, su did a fresh install of armbian next to a new sd card, but the system will still only boot from emmc. Any ideas? BR.

Good afternoon, please help configure the rotation of the logs. I am completely new to this system, unfortunately, I can not find a normal instruction on how to configure rotatilog. My problem is that the logs are full, and my necessary scripts stop working. If I constantly clear the logs manually, then the scripts work fine. I tried to configure the rotation in accordance with the instructions, it only works before the reboot, after the reboot, everything I fixed with the rotation changes the paths to /var/log.hdd/. Please help me make sure that all logs do not exceed 1m. and constantly spinning. I apologize in advance if not fully expressed his thought.

I'm trying to figure out why Firefox-esr crashes form time to time on my Olinuxino-Lime A20. I also have a Banana PI (also A20) and on that board Firefox never crashes. On both boards I use the legacy kernel, and I use uBlock adblocker on both boards. The Olinuxino has 512 MB RAM and the Banana Pi 1 GB. Googling around I found out that crashreports could be viewed on "about:crashes" or on ~/.mozilla/firefox/crashes. However, there is no such file. Do youi have any suggestions on where to find crashreports? Thanks in advance and much appreciation for your continuous work on the Armbian distribution!

Hello, I've been working with my Banana Pro since years with Bananian. Last days I formatted the SD and installed Armbian (debian), to be used in headless mode. Installation and system setup worked as expected, I modified eth0 setup for static IP and it went fine after reboot. A strange problem appeared when I installed transmission-daemon, minidlna and samba packages. All working fine before reboot, but thereafter any network interface is disappeared, network-manager can't execute fine, remains running for several seconds then something crashes. If I configure eth0 manually network works, so no hardware problem. I'm sure the board work…

On my orangepi pc (legacy kernel) I'm trying to using separately the left and right channel as two separate sound cards (to be used by two different programs). I have a working asoundrc for that, but the problem is that the left channel leaks into the right one and viceversa. They also do the same on my laptop, but there it's hardly noticeable. It's not a matter of my asounrc, I confirmed it also with speaker-test. I suppose it's a hardware issue, right? BTW the right and left channel are inverted (and that could be a driver issue). This is the my asoundrc, the !default line is because one of the two programs is linphone and I couldn't find a…

After finally compiling the github 8188cu-fixed, blacklisting the old driver, I'm left with an interface name starting with lx and continuing with the mac address. I really need it to just say wlan1, so that I can use this sd-image for multiple orangepi-lite boards. Each usb wifi stick I plug in comes up with a different MAC address, hence the interface name changes accordingly. Example: One stick may have a MAC address 00-b6-56-0a-34-b2, and the interface ends up being called lx00b6560a34b2 I've had a look at the leading Ubuntu Xenial solutions, so far none of them work, mainly they use a grub based solution. Hope someone can help.

I have an Orange Pi PC Plus (Armbian Bullseye CLI) that I'm using as a NUT server connecting to a Cyberpower UPS. Every 30 minutes the driver stops working and upon further investigation, this looks to be a USB connection issue. Is there some power-saving mode that would cause this or any other known issue? I've got a BPi Pro with a PMP as a sort of backup box. It appears to be running find so far and I'm not running RAID of any sort on it as I've had issues with that an PMPs on other platforms. The question I have is dmesg is filling up with entries like this: [66451.217935] sdb: sdb1 [66752.272509] sdb: sdb1 [66752.593223] sdd: sdd1 [67964.907826] sdc: sdc1 [67974.038562] sdd: sdd1 [68595.107245] sdb: sdb1 [69525.179964] sdb: sdb1 [69835.958729] sdd: sdd1 [70766.572499] sdb: sdb1 [71076.828494] sdb: sdb1 [71377.605195] sdd: sdd1 [72298.301984] sdb: sdb1 [73219.937015] sdd: sdd1 [73637.287585] sdb…

Maybe this is a faq. After installing and upgrading armbian to 5.23 on A10-Lime, if I leave serial console attached and Ethernet Cable attached, booting process hangs at: Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel. while if I'm using serial console alone or Ethernet Cable alone, the booting process is fine. Why ?
-
So I have a weird problem that I haven't seen yet, so forgive me if its already been answered. But for some reason mainline kernels (bionic and stretch) both bootloop at the same place. Seen below: The board boots perfectly fine on legacy kernel though. I'm using decent quality Samsung SD cards, and I've tried every combination of usb cable/powerbrick as well as the barrel jack so I'm not sure what the snag is.

Hi there, Orange Pi PC+, Armbian Stretch. What I want is to replicate current router (OpenWRT Barrier Breaker on TP-LINK MR3220 v1) on and Orange Pi. I use this router to "share" (using scp from host PC) an USB flash dongle (remote site backup). With its processor copying filer over WiFi SCP is terribly slow (1.2MB/sec). Network Manager "proposes" me to create an WiFi network, but with only NO security or only WEP. I use WPA personal. Configuration on router wlan0 as an AP (WPA), wlan0-1 as WiFi client (also WPA different SSID) with WDS enabled (to act as bridge member), eth0 as usual. All those 3 interfaces bridged together an …

Good day, everyone! On the manufacturer's website Allwinner H5, it says: 2 Display device, dual display (same or different content) HDMI & CVBS. Can anybody tell me how to do this? I'm willing to pay for the development of drivers and / or firmware to be able to work on an Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H5 device with two displays (1- HDMI, 2-TVout) - at the same time. With suggestions, please contact me at tigroidit@gmail.com

I have an Orange Pi One, with Armbian installed. *sometimes* when I log in it displays: "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi" Then some system statistics and a line with the CPU temperature, for example: "CPU temp: 58ºC" I can also get the current temperature with armbianmonitor -m or reading a file called "temp" in a directory under /etc/system (I don't remember the full path now). If I log in again, I see again the temperature in the welcome message, running armbianmonitor or reading the aforementioned file. Until I shutdown and boot again. Then, all 3 methods of getting t…

Hi all, Today I decided to pull my OPi Zero H3 out of its box and fire it up. Downloaded and installed Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y to a SanDisk micro sdcard grade 10 and powered it up with a known good 5v 3a power supply I've used to power my OPi Zero's via GPIO (with all my Zero's I've soldered in GPIO headers - something I'm used to doing with RC helicopter and multirotor flight controllers). Connected my USB hub with keyboard and mouse connected. Disconnected my OPi One (RetrOrangePi gaming computer) from its HDMI connection and connected it to my Zero H3 and powered it up. Boot text is on display nice and clear. Then the …

Hello everybody. I'm trying to have the OLIMEX board and LCD above working, using legacy Jessie desktop. With the default configuration only portion of the screen works properly. So I have tried to: 1) sunxi-fexc from bin to fex the file /boot/script.bin 2) edit the extracted script.fex file like this: from [lcd0_para] lcd_used = 1 lcd_x = 600 lcd_y = 480 to [lcd0_para] lcd_used = 1 lcd_x = 1024 lcd_y = 600 which I understand is the resolution of my LCD screen. 3) sunxi-fexc back from fex to /boot/script.bin The result is that when I reboot I get a messed up screen. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm trying to use hardware acceleration on my OrangePi PC+ (H3) board, and when I try to compile v4l2-request, it complains for undefined constants. These constants are supposed to be declared in /usr/include/linux/videodev2.h, but looks like a very old version of this file is distributed in the latests Armbian images for my board. Some missing headers: V4L2_PIX_FMT_MPEG2_SLICE, V4L2_PIX_FMT_SUNXI_TILED_NV12 Looks like these #define have been introduced more than two years ago in the mainline kernel : https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blame/d5beb3140f91b1c8a3d41b14d729aefa4dcc58bc/include/uapi/linux/videodev2.h#L698 Even more weird: a later …

I'm trying to use armbian on orange pi one, and it does not start. Previously I used the armbian, however I needed to format the card, now I am putting the same version of armbian 5.25 server and desktop does not work, I tried version 5.35 and tbm does not start, the non-image card does not light any led. However, when using both debian xfce and ubuntu xfce for orange pi one of orangepi.org, the board called displayed video and is working.

Hello, community. For a while now, I've been trying to configure the input and output of i2s0 without success. The closest I've come to a result was with the adau7002 configuration, but I'm experiencing synchronous noise, as if the issue were related to a CLK. Let me provide some details to see if anyone can guide me. I have a Banana Pi M2 with Armbian 23.11.1 Bookworm and Linux 6.1.13-current-sunxi. I have a pcm1807 connected to the input, configured with SPI, outputting i2s left justified in 24bit, and operating as a master. The pcm is connected to a 24.5MHz crystal. My goal is to configure the system to capture audio in a generic i2s format and then play it b…

I use 4.14 image from https://www.armbian.com/banana-pi-pro/ I try to enable vdpau and switch from next to legacy kernel on Armbian Bionic (linux-image-sun7i). Can the Audio port on the Orange Pi Win Plus A64 also output video (like TV output)? It seems like most of the orange Pi boards with an audio jack can do this and the CubieTruck (which is an A20 board) can do the same as well. Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

I have a NanoPi Neo Core and I'd like to analyse the SPI controller driver and why it toggles the lines the way it does. In the overlay file, all I see are mentions to 'spidev'. Where can I find out why the data lines shown below toggle the way they do? I.e. chip select goes low way before the clock line. The MISO line has a droop to GND briefly and the CLK line hangs high for a while before toggling... Thanks forum :). YELLOW: CS PURPLE: MOSI BLUE: MISO GREEN: CLK EDIT: I'm sending two bytes, 0xDA, 0x00 at spi mode 3. Ignore the decoder, it was set to read LSB first.

Hi everyone, I connected my board with my PC via serial USB. Then I opened a serial with minicom and tried to test it out. I can send the strings from my board to PC without any problems but when I write something on the PC it sends garbage to my board. But, if I connect the TX, RX like: TX->TX RX->RX instead of TX->RX, RX->TX it sends normal from the PC and garbage from the board. I checked my baud rates but everything seems legit. I tried both 9600, 115200 bit rates, I also tried the both voltages (5V, 3.3V) What do you think could cause this problem? I saw this thread but seems like ther…

I'm willing to dusto off my H3-based Orange PI+ 2, because of all the great work that has being done recently on kernel 4.20, 5.0, 5.1 etc to support both H3 and Mali 400/450. However, for some reason, it seems that my board (even though it's officially supported) hasn't been updated past 4.19 kernel, so all the cool things are missing. On the other hand there are some WIP/no-yet-supported Orange Pi boards that DO support 5.1 kernel, so I'm a little bit confused. Is there any roadmap for newer kernels on H3 boards?

Hi, First of all: Thanks for the great work. I have installed the Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_trusty_3.4.109_desktop image and it runs smooth so far. After a while beeing idle the monitor goes black as it should, but the cubie doesn't wake up on mouse or keyboard entry. The only thing working is a reboot. Also I'd like to know, how I can deactivate the Micro-USB port. If I remember it right, this is responsable for the low volume high pitch noise. Thanks for all your responses. kauppi

Hi, I need to use the i2c in the u-boot stage. However when I try this command IN THE boot stage, I get: Unknown command 'i2cset' - try 'help'. 1. I guess I'm trying to use 'i2cset' in a too early stage - any idea how to control the i2c in the u-boot stage or how to make 'i2cset' available at the u-boot stage ? 2. I have been experimenting with trying to get video acceleration working on the A83T. I can see from /proc/device-tree/soc/... that there is already a video-engine node within the current A83T device tree. It appears to be applied as one of the megous patches ARM-dts-sun8i-a83t-Add-cedrus-video-codec-support-to-A83T-untes.patch. Admittedly this is noted as being untested. In my initially created build via the build framework, Cedrus was not present at all among the list of loaded modules. I addressed this by creating an entry in the Cedrus compatibility table for the sun8i-a83t-video engine drv-sun8i-a83t-cedrus-add-variant.patch It now appears to l…
