Hello, I don't know if I'm posting in the right section, if I'm wrong, please excuse me and move the topic to the correct section or tell me which section to write in. I will soon be the proud owner of a NanoPi R6S and would be happy if I could help create a working image for it. I don't have positive experience with compiling a kernel for SoC, but I can test images Regards,

  2. I've read many tutorials and tried many tips on how to change console resolution in Armbian Ubuntu 18.04 on ROCK64 but couldn't find any solution. I'm stuck with 4K resolution and can't reconfigure it down to 1920x1080. armbian-config tool lacks such basic functionality. Is there any way to do resolution change or do I have to get 1080p monitor? It's fucked up doing such simple thing is so complicated. Wasted over 2 hours now researching and no solution yet.

  3. I literally registered to post this complaint here. How STUPID it is to have a M.2 SATA SHARED WITH HDD1!! IT DEFEATS THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THIS ENCLOSURE. PERIOD!!!! My mistake was that I did not know what it meant that M.2 was SHARED before I purchased this enclosure and now, I have a need to expand beyond the measly 16GB of your eMMC and I found out THE PAINFUL WAY that IT IS NOT POSSIBLE because of the shared SATA port. IT"S BEYOND FRUSTRATION. YOU CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE HOW STUPID THIS DECISION OF YOURS IS. IT JUST LITERALLY DOWNGRADED YOUR NAS FROM AN EXCELLENT ENCLOSURE TO AN OVERPRICED JUNK THAT I HAD TO WAIT FOR FOR MORE THAN 6 …

  6. Hello, I have a Rock64 V2 which I am using as a Tvheadend server, among other stuff. For some months I put the kernel/dtb packages on hold, because I discovered that linux-image-rockchip64 after version 5.75 did not include the kernel module for th USB DVB-T stick I need (an EyeTV DVB-T device, i.e. a clone of Hauppauge), that is dvb-usb-dib0700 or the like (I am trying to remember). I have recently unhold the Linux packages and let apt to update them. Now at version 5.90, I see that the kernel module is still not included, and my USB device cannot be used. Going back to Linux image 5.75 makes the stick to work again, but I'd like to have the lates…

Building the image using the OrangePI source repositories and following the instructions on OPi4B manual enables the LCD and touch, However, my intention is to make the LCD + Touch work on the most recent Armbian Focal (mainline). I've setup my Armbian build env but I cannot see to find how to enable this MIPI screen on any build options. 11. RockPi4a. Installed busster current 5.8.6 armbian onto eMMC. Works fine. Now i figure out i need swap space (app needs more than the 1G mem i have). So i boot another image from SD an use gparted to shrink the first partition from the end to create 4GByte and create a swap partition in there. Now the board won't boot anymore (see attached file). Erased SPI, no difference. Partition table shows GPT and "MBR protective" (before and after resizing). so, whats the magic to create a bootable armbian disk if one needs different partitioning than just the "full disk one partition" layout ? Is this "uboot" hidden behind the only partition, there was a bun…

  12. Started by DiegoBM,

I've a set of Orange Pi 5 Max boards, all of them mounting fast NVME units. My plan was to use micro SD card to host the OS, but delegate all intensive writing (log, tmp) to a special partition on the NVME unit which will be used for OS and Application data (both for performance, and to extend the lifetime of the SD card). That way I can flash the OS disk as needed without worrying about flashing the data disk with it. I've seen that Armbian uses zram by default, but I'd like to keep the entire RAM available for the applications that will be running in the boards (NVME should be fast enough to not notice a massive impact vs using the RAM). As I have seen disab…

  19. Hello, I am working with "Armbian_21.08.1_Nanopineo4_focal_current_5.10.60" on a nanopi Neo4. During the initial boot, the (HDMI) monitor shortly displayed some text (went to fast to read) and then went blank and the monitor turned off. However, output came through the serial debug port (USB2) and I was able to complete the initial setup. Now, I can now connect with SSH, but it would be nice to be able to work directly. How can I redirect the output to the HDMI monitor? Cheers, John

Hi guys, I have been using my Helios64 for more than a year now. I have it connected with the 1Gbps NIC. I have been reading about network bonding and getting both NICs up and running. The main purpose would be to have it running in mode "Adaptive Transmit Load Balancing" (mode 5). First I've discovered the issue with the 2.5Gbps not being able to keep a consistent (and performant) speed. So I've soldered the missing pin from the capacitor to the NIC (more on this later). I've checked the speed and now it is up to specs, getting very close to 1000Mbps (960-980Mbps). But here it comes the problem that I'm facing, if I enable both independently …

  40. Dear Forum! If you are using Emmc as boot device, a M.2-ssd as system device and OMV is installed. You can backup with the OMV given image-backup (dd, fsarchiver). But how you can restore the backup? You need to boot from Sdcard (boot and system from sd)? And after that you can switch again back to emmc-boot and ssd-system without any issue? Is there any other easier way i.e. with CloneZilla to image-backup/restore? How you can do this?

I have a project developed on Rock 4C+ v1.2 board. Now there is only v1.41 board available and Armbian is not booting on it at all, no matter it's compiled locally, or it's downloaded from the official sources. UART debug is producing unreadable sequence. So far, what I’ve tried: - I’ve built Armbian with the latest changes armbian build repo - hasn't helped - I’ve used rk3399-rock-4c-plus.dtb file instead of rk3399-rock-pi-4c-plus.dtb, dunno why there are two, but somewhere on the forum I read that this one without “pi” is the right one - hasn't helped - official Armbian images - not booting - Ubuntu and Debian - both booting fin…

  44. Hey guys, I installed Armbian some months ago in my Rock64 and I had never updated the packages. Yesterday I decided to do an apt update + apt upgrade to update one of the applications I use. I noticed that meanwhile apt updated Armbian itself, and began to ask for a reboot. A few hours later I rebooted the board. At first I couldn't connect due to connection refusal, so I went plugged a keyboard and hdmi on the board to see what was happening. It looks like while doing this I unplugged the power source suddenly, and now the board won't boot the system in this OS. No image or response in the USB keyboard. …

However the image shows sum of the situation. Any help appreciated including advice on rj45 to serial cable. Thanks.

  51. Hi everybody, I recently set up a small server with the Rock64 booting armbian stretch 5.59 stable directly from a 120 GB SSD attached via USB3. Booting is handled with U-Boot from ayufan on the SPI flash. The Rock64 is board revision 2.0, the power supply is the original Pine64 one for the Rock. Besides the SSD, there are no other peripherals connected. The board often (3 out of 4 times) hangs when booting. In this case, all LEDs are lit, the orange network LED will flash and the board is not reachable by SSH and not pingable. My impression is, that it is stuck because the SSD either powered up too late or the USB connection is delayed. However, I…

(Specifically trying to bring up a FreeIPA server which includes tomcat-based Dogtag CA, it checks for FIPS during setup, dies). I see there is an rk_crypto kernel module available, so I don't know why /proc/sys/crypto itself is missing. I tried 'modprobe rk_crypto' and it loaded (appears in output of 'lsmod'), but /proc/sys/crypto still doesn't exist.

  86. Sorry to repeat another case of this. Have attempted a few times to move boot from SD card to eMMC before the SD card fails. I did according to the wiki doc with nand-sata-install. Since I have OMV, I excluded the exports, and also afterward copied the salt and pillar. Also, in another attempt, on suggestion from another thread, I updated the boot loader and copied again. I can boot to my SD card, mount the eMMC, and see the root structure. From what I can tell in reading the boot output, it can't find any storage device? 4 USB Device(s) found scanning usb for storage devices... 0 Storage Device(s) found But I can see it whe…

  89. Hi, i've an Hdd of 1TB and i would like to use it as a storage for my orange pi 5. I would like to install armbian and boot directly from the Hdd the operating system. I need only to buy the adaptor for sata interface. Before to buy it i've read some posts and also watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5-sZt_O51w&pp=ygUZb3JhbmdlIHBpIDUgYm9vdCBmcm9tIHVzYg%3D%3D and this guy was not able to boot the orange pi directly from the Hdd because the adaptor was creating some problem. 1) I would like to ask you if someone knows if in this months this problem was been resolved or not 2) If it is not yet solved, i would like to install the OS and…

  92. Hello everyone! Saw that some luckfox boards were getting supported and I was like: YES!!! Flashed an sd-card with the community image. Latest I could find is 25.11.0-trunk.413. And plonked in my working Luckfox Lyra Zero W and it failed to boot. From what I gather there seems to be a missing partition called "misc" and I think it is expected about after the current unallocated 16MB(16,777,216 bytes). I tried creating a 4MB partition after the current unallocated space but it complained about something called "Magic" and my limited u-boot/rockchip/embedded linux experience made me get lost there. This is the serial output: Whe…

  94. I have a problem with Focal on Nanopi-M4V2 is that when it is overloaded and runs out of memory, instead of getting slow it kills the process causing the problem and in the last few cases, logs out out of Ubuntu Mate ;-) [Sun Jul 26 17:12:54 2020] Out of memory: Killed process 12888 (Web Content) total-vm:3097484kB, anon-rss:455520kB, file-rss:1600kB, shmem-rss:16636kB, UID:1000 pgtables:2752kB oom_score_adj:0 [Sun Jul 26 17:12:54 2020] oom_reaper: reaped process 12888 (Web Content), now anon-rss:0kB, file-rss:0kB, shmem-rss:16220kB [Sun Jul 26 17:13:22 2020] panfrost_gem_shrinker_scan: 60 callbacks suppressed [Sun Jul 26 17:13:22 2020] Purging 4595712 …

  95. I have a Rock4 SE Board (or Rock Pi 4 SE) and I'm using the Armbian_23.02.2_Rockpi-4b_bullseye_current_5.15.93 Debian version. (Linux rockpi-4b 5.15.93-rockchip64 #23.02.2 SMP PREEMPT Fri Feb 17 23:48:36 UTC 2023 aarch64 GNU/Linux) I am trying to set up the correct Device Tree Overlay configuration for my intended application. If I use Armbian-config as a tool to demonstrate the issue here. It starts by listing I2C7 and then I2C8. If I go to the Rock4 SE schematic and search for I2C8, it is not even setup as I2C: Then where is I2C6, for example. It's supposed to be there. If I then look fu…

  96. I'm using Armbian 20.11.1 Focal (5.9.11-rockchip64) on my Helios64. When there's heavier load via ethernet (SFTP to a SATA Ultrastar 12TB disk) for something like more than an hour, the entire system will freeze. Not sure if it actually does freeze but I lose all SSH connections and cannot connect anymore via SSH unless I restart the Helios64. Happened today 4 times and it's totally reproducible. Haven't tested another drive yet. What makes this difficult to debug is that under /var/log/syslog or kern.log or faillog nothing relevant is being written as to in what state the device is. Is this a known issue? How can I find out what the problem i…

  97. Does armbian for orange pi 5b provide headless wifi setup like raspberry pi? on raspberry pi, I can modify the sd card. like `touch ssh` and assign wifi login and password in the .conf to achieve headless wifi setup. I don't have a lan cable, monitor and keyborad to set up.

  98. I built a version of Buster with the legacy kernel (4.4). when I try to install the media-buster-legacy-rk3328 package on the system, I get an error - unsatisfied dependencies on the kodi-rk package. I tried installing the Kodi-rk package manually, but it has an unsatisfied dependency on kodi-rk-bin. The kodi-rk-bin package is available and installed, but its version does not correspond to the links with Kodi-rk. Perhaps packages were updated in the repository, but dependencies do not work because of a complex package name (the alphabetical comparison condition is not met) ?

  99. I have been testing the latest Buster Server builds - kernels 4.4 and 5.3 versions on my rock64 board In both cases I see a number of syslog entries relating to device ttyFIQ0 not starting. Does anyone else have this issue? Any ideas how to remove stop it from trying to start? thanks

  100. I have serious issues with the serial number being exposed in /proc/cpuinfo. Especially when browsers have access to this information. Afaik, its u-boot who passed this information on to Linux. Any idea how to mask this from Linux? Your help is appreciated
