I have a Rock Pi4 B (rk3399) and I do not find the solution to use my native screen resolution with the latest kernel: 1600x1200. It was working fine with Armbian Bionic Legacy kernel 4.4. However, despite my tinkering, I do not find how to make it work with the latest kernel (option is not available in the Display Setting, xrandr manipulation did not give any success). Any pointer towards a solution would be greatly appreciated. Below the output of xrandr for the two images I ran. Welcome to Armbian Bionic with Linux 4.4.198-rockchip64 Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1600 x 1200, maximum 8192 x 8192 HDMI-1 connected pr…

It's quite some time ago that I used my rockpi however today I wanted to restart my project again (some sensors with an A/D Board connected to SPI). First of all I tested the Board on a Raspberry Pi (with Raspbian) there it is working as expected so it is not a hardware issue. I connected my board MOSI = GPIO2_B2 (Pin 29), MISO = GPIO2_B1 (Pin 31), CS = GPIO2_B4 (Pin 33), Clock = GPIO2_B3 (Pin 7). The matter is that it sometimes works and the correct data is received but just once in a while. For me it seems that the CS is not working properly but how to get SPI communication working correctly? In the attached screenshot the value 744 is the correct value, i …

When you do gdisk -l /dev/mmcblk1 or fdisk -l you can se that the partition table that armbian is using is MBR (dos). Is any particular reason for this? When you go to the new and improved firefly rk3399 manual page you can see it is making problem when flashing through USB-C cable and upgrade_tool v. 1.24 and v. 1.34 (GBT friendly) http://wiki.t-firefly.com/en/Firefly-RK3399/flashing-notes.html .

Hi there, I'm using the latest version of armbian to run the linuxptp for the ieee1588v2 clock. When I check the timestamp status, the 1Gbps port which is the RTL8122 is no problem, but the 2.5G ports RTL8125BG are only supporting the software timestamp. However, when I checked the Realtek website, it says that the 8125BG also supports the IEEE1588 clock. I tried to install the driver, but it did not work. As a beginner in Linux, I probably don't have the knowledge to compile drivers, in this case I sincerely hope that armbian could officially support the hw ptp timestamp in 8125 NIC. Thank you very much! nanopi-r6s:~:# ethtool -T end0 Ti…

I have a project developed on Rock 4C+ v1.2 board. Now there is only v1.41 board available and Armbian is not booting on it at all, no matter it's compiled locally, or it's downloaded from the official sources. UART debug is producing unreadable sequence. So far, what I’ve tried: - I’ve built Armbian with the latest changes armbian build repo - hasn't helped - I’ve used rk3399-rock-4c-plus.dtb file instead of rk3399-rock-pi-4c-plus.dtb, dunno why there are two, but somewhere on the forum I read that this one without “pi” is the right one - hasn't helped - official Armbian images - not booting - Ubuntu and Debian - both booting fin…

rk3588-pcie_bifurcation_2x2-uboot.patchrk3588-pcie_bifurcation_2x2.patch Attached are two patches I've prepared. One for uBoot (to correctly recognize split pcie3x4 to two independent controllers, pcie3x4 and pcie3x2), and one for DT of NanoPC T6. This basically allows you to use trimmed-down bifurcation adapter. The adapter in question must be trimmed down/cut to fit on the back of the board. Tested with 2x NVME, and 1xNVME and QCNFA765 wireless card. I'll post photos later once I'll disconnect the board again from my setup. BEWARE!!! If you'd plan to use more than one ath11k wireless card, you'd need QRTR patch. Since the SBL …

Hello, I have read some threats with the same issue, armbian images are not booting, there is not HDMI signal when turn on rockpi4. General solution is trying armbian image stored on radxa server https://dl.radxa.com/rockpi/images/third-party/Armbian_5.67_Rockpi4b_Debian_stretch_default_4.4.154_desktop_20181210-gpt.img.gz this armbian version works fine but it's too old, also i'm interested to use latest armbian-ubuntu-bionic My case: I have a new rockpi4b 1.4v, not eMMC module, I have flashed several armbian versions on sdCard : https://dl.armbian.com/rockpi-4b/Bionic_legacy_desktop https://dl.armbian.com/rockpi-4b/Buster_legacy htt…

Hi, I have tried multiple Rock Pi 4+ (Plus) boards, all of them run regular Debian well, so the hardware should be good. But when I tried Armbian, the 2 USB 3.0 ports were not working with logitech USB dongle or Samsung USB drives (which did work in regular Debian), I searched and found maybe they were in OTG mode and needed to be in HOST mode. I tried armbian-config then System -> Hardware, then enabled: dwc3-0-host rockpi4cplus-usb-host After reboot, the bottom USB 3.0 port would start working, yet the top one still wouldn't work. Otherwise, Armbian was the most user-friendly, fast and stable…

Hey folks, So here's the setup I have: I have an Orange Pi 4B running the Orange Pi 4 image and kernel 5.6.17-rockchip64. I have an Orange Pi 4 running the Orange Pi RK3399 image and kernel 5.4.26-rockchip64 (cause when I got it, the Orange Pi 4 images weren't out yet). The OPi4 is running just fine. I imagine that I'm running the wrong DTB and that not all the hardware is working properly -- but the hardware I need is working just fine. The OPi4B is another story. It'll boot just fine, and it'll run just fine for days/weeks on end -- as long as I don't put it under any sort of heavy CPU load. But if I start running anythi…

Hello! I have OrangePi4 and it works quite well out of the box with Armbian desktop latest. However there were some minor problems, this is the first one: Video resolution was incorrect by default in console framebuffer. The screen is 1920x1080, but default was 1280x720. The solution is adding extraargs=video=1920x1080@60 To /boot/armbianEnv.txt . The part after first = is passed to the Kernel command line and kernel enables the resolution. This have fixed my problem mostly, however, the video output is enabled only during late boot. This is not a big problem, but it would be better if the screen lit up immediately after the computer is powere…

Hi, the latest Bionic Legacy Desktop images for NanoPi M4 V2 (Armbian_20.05.2_Nanopim4v2_bionic_legacy_4.4.213_desktop.img.xz and Armbian_20.05.1_Nanopim4v2_bionic_legacy_4.4.213_desktop.img.xz) do not boot on the board. Hi, I was trying to load below Armbian images into NanoPi M4 (just M4, neither M4B nor M4V2). I've tried installing k3s on my OP5Pro and it did not work out because I was missing a couple of things on the kernel. I read the docs on building a new kernel. Did that and was able to get a working 6.1.75 kernel. Even though i got some errors when installing the generated packages. What I did not find in the documents is how I can work on a new kernel. Say 6.11. Has anyone done this? Can you help me out? Thanks! P.D. On a side note. I built this kernel in the OP it self and it was kinda slow. What image can I load in vmware under a macbook air m3 to compile and build faster?

Hi, I need some guide and steps required (and if possible) to enable hardware acceleration using FFmpeg. I have a serious problem as I mentioned in a title Currently I'm using Armbian on my NanoPi M4 and very satisfied its functionality But when I try to use usb3 device (especially camera from ZWO campany, ZWO ASI 178) with it, it doesn't recognize it as USB3 device but USB2 by checking the data transfer speed with "lsusb -t" Then, once I unplug the cable and plug it to the pi again, that device is recognized as USB3 and the data transfer speed becomes much higher. I need to get USB3's fast data transfer as soon as the board gets booted, without unplugging cables since now it's not that easy to access to the board and cable. I tried usb r…

Hi! Unless mistaken, I believe audio is missing from 3.5mm jack on the RockPi4b. To enable it, I had: - To update the dts by adding definitions close to the RockPro64 (some available starting in mainline 5.6) - Change them to use I2S0 instead of I2S1 - Enable audio-graph-card in kernel config (I also removed some audio modules which issued warnings/errors during boot) - Patch es8316.c to prevent a kernel panic during boot (found in Ayufan's latest mainline kernel for RockPro64) yannick@rockpi-4b:~$ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: rockchiprk3399 [rockchip,rk3399], device 0: ff880000.i2s-ES8316 HiFi ES8…

Performance is very good!!! Even with 1080p videos I can‘t see a difference compared to my desktop pc. With the original wireless PS3 SingStar microphones this is a pretty nice and portable setup.

I wish kernel v6 to be installed, but not the RC kernel. My experience with SMB is Rapberry Pi 3 B and 4 B. I used to install only Raspbian on that boards. Wish me luck guys :-))

I haven't been able to find any specs on the eMMC module in the helios64. I've found some posts online indicating that it is a samsung KLMAG1JETD-B041, but I haven't been able to find any info on the write endurance of this module (not sure if it is standard for eMMC vendors to provide that information like SSD vendors). I have been able to run `mmc extcsd read /dev/mmcblk1`, which shows that the emmc life time estimation is between 0 and 10%, but since this value is in 10% increments, its not very helpful. I've had issues with the default ramlog-based /var/log, so I had to turn it off. I've increased the size to 250MB but it regularly fills up b…

Hi, I have one silly problem developing a FBTFT device driver for SSD1322 display : https://github.com/MarkoBursic/fbtft---SSD1322/blob/master/fb_ssd1322.c The initialisation starts OK, all GPIOs (DC, RESET, CS) follows as they should, since the data is sent through a function write_reg. For example : write_reg(par, 0xA0, 0x14, 0x11); It asserts DC low, then sends 0xA0, then asserts DC high and sends 0x14 and 0x11. Within every sent character (8bit bata) the CS toggles. The problem becomes when I want to send video data, I guess a function write_vmem is called. But here the entire tx buffer is filled and then streamed. for (y =…

Hallo, I've been using Armbian on the NanoPi M4 V2 for a while and now I'm thinking about switchen from the legacy kernel to the current kernel. Unfortunately that's not so easy to do when using armbian-config. You could think you can just select the current-kernel in the list but you won't find it there. The reason is simple: the legacy kernel belongs to the rk3399-family and the current kernel is rockchip64. Which is basically the same, but from an organisational point of view it is not (please forgive me if I do not show an adequate technical precision here, the details and the plan to clean that up are explained here). What I would be intereste…

Hi guys! I would like to know why this is happening. I guess the script doesnt identify my sd card as the sd card and it erase it just like it does with emmc before clonning the sd card to the emmc. I use latest armbian focal.

Hello, target : nanopi R4S/4Gb I downloaded the last image from the armbian site for the friendlyelec nanopi RS4. I flashed an A1 SD card of 32GB. I only see one partition (after a 17MB offset). When I try to use it on my R4S, the red power led lights up, then nothing, even after several minutes. I opened the router and connected a serial converter on the console, in this case also there is no sign of life after the power on... I have flashed on another SD card an ubuntu image from the friendlyelec site. This image boots, but it seems that the configuration of the console is not the usual default one => the speed 115200 does not w…

Hi, An old problem, since I got the board which is 4C. Not a + - or whatever but the plain C. Symptoms: 1. HDMI worked randomly, maybe every 10th...15th boot lead to a working system, or rather to a visible HDMI-connection. But now switching on-off does not help at all. 2. Quite often one can get the board booting to the point where it asks for the password, and after clicking ok, it switches the screen off, and won't return. So the telly says that "no signal". 3. When switching on the board the tv set sees that there's someone on the hdmi port, and shows the booting sequence, and finally goes to Armbian's graphical mode asking for t…

I am trying to get a RPi camera (imx219) working on a RockPI 4C. I have been piecing together DTS files from various places trying to make sense of it, and I noticed that the rkisp kernel module isn't compiled on the Rockchip64 kernels. Is there a reason for this or am I missing something? Looking at the kernel menuconfig, only one of its dependencies isn't compiled: `V4L_PLATFORM_DRIVERS=n`.

I tried the latest 6.8 kernel edge on my Rock 5A and noticed the CSI camera interface doesnt exist. Is there any plan or time schedule to fix that? I saw it's marked "TODO" on https://gitlab.collabora.com/hardware-enablement/rockchip-3588/notes-for-rockchip-3588/-/blob/main/mainline-status.md . So in 6.9 perhaps? (A LOT of other stuff works remarkably well though, great work!)

I have some questions about the Linux images that Ayufan built for the Rock64 board. Not really technical issues so I did not think they should go on the Github page. If this is not the appropriate place for these, let me now and I'll remove this post. Also, if this is not the place, where should I be asking these types of questions? I just downloaded the new PRE-RELEASE version of Debian Stretch from the Github page (Yes, I know it's bleeding edge, but just experimenting for now). Specifically the stretch-minimal-rock64-0.6.5-152-arm64 image. I just burned it to my eMMC board. Will boot and see how it all works tomorrow. There are a number of…

Hi all. In download section i do see "large heatsink required" for Rock64. Can anyone post any links to eamples of good heatsink with proper size ? I will be migrating "home server" from Cubieboard2 to Rock64 and chasing long-term stable operation. When board just booted and "does nothing", cpu remains pretty cool. However i'd better be prepared. thanks in advance for tips.

Dear all I have a question concerning the Tinker Board video playback function. Until now I used some raspberry PIs 3b to create a simple system that video playbacks in loop after booting for my video installations. Now as the raspberries are not in stock at the moment but i need very urgently another working system, i saw that i can buy the tinker board 2.0 for a reasonable price. However, I'm not a programming specialist and was happy when I got the raspberry to run, I couldn't found anything about the tinker board and specially about a video loop function. I imagine that it is possible, just wondering how complicated it is. Can someone tell me …

I've been following this thread: https://forum.openwrt.org/t/nanopi-r6s-linux-6-3-arm-soc-updates/153072/14 downloaded the latest version. U-Boot 2017.09-armbian (Apr 25 2023 - 04:20:41 +0000) U-Boot SPL 2023.04-OpenWrt-r0-e283eb2 (Jun 12 2023 - 00:36:27 +0000) Whats the reason the armbian u-boot is so far behind ? Hello everyone. I want to try to connect a custom AMOLED DSI display with orangepi 3b https://www.phoenixdisplay.com/product/color-displays/oled/at043qhd3008/ And there is practically no information. Maybe someone has seen or encountered similar problems? Do I understand correctly that the dts section on brightness adjustment does not need to be written, because AMOLED as such does not have a backlight? Is it possible to run such a display using simple-panel-dsi? Another interesting question is how to organize the power supply for such a display? It needs different voltages from 1.8 to 4.6 V

TL;DR: How to make HDMI screen with custom resolution work? Including boot log/boot splash screen. How to configure auto use of/auto switch to newly connected display? Means moving tty/X Session to connected display like it works on e.g. Ubuntu desktop. Why HDMI screens with non standard resolution works well on kernel v5.x but stop working on v6.x ones? Where are HDMI related I2C interfaces in Armbian? Full version: In theory host system (SBC, laptop, PC) should detect new HDMI device connection, load EDID data from screen and use it to configure video output (resolution, timings etc). In practice it works well for Ubuntu deskto…

Hi folks! Some problems later I just build my ethereum-node using the FriendlyARM NanoPC T4 (Reddit project Ethereum on NanoPC T4). Using it indoor the temperature climbs to 80° celsius with the passive cpu-heatspreader. So I decided to install a fan and found the specs for the 'Cooling Fan interface'. The connector is named BM03B-GHS-TBT. Where can I buy a fan (40x40mm)? I only find fans with 3-pole-molex-adapter. All I know is the name of the male connector (in german): "JST Buchsengehäuse-Kabel GH Polzahl Gesamt 3 Rastermaß: 1.25 mm GHR-03V-S".

Gentlemen, I have a rock64 board, and I would like to use an external RTC module with DS1307 chip. Unfortunately the armbian kernel does not provide DS1307 driver by default: root@rock64:~# cat /boot/config-4.4.162-rockchip64 | grep DS1307 # CONFIG_RTC_DRV_DS1307 is not set I don't have the programming skills for sending a pull request to enable this module. Could you please enable this module for ROCK64? I believe other ROCK64 owners may also benefit from this driver, as the board does not expose a working RTC, and DS1307 is a very common RTC chip. Thanks in advance.

Hello, can someone help me with my problem. I have a ROCK64 with 4GB of RAM and an ARMBIAN 5.75 stable Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS 4.4.174-rockchip64, installed. My issue come with usb ports, from the three USB of the this device only works two: one 2.0 and 3.0. And when i have a disk connected towards usb 3.0 i have issues with port usb 2.0, it doesn't work well and I end up disconnecting the USB 3.0 to can work with my device connected towards USB 2.0 so I assume that the current power on the USB port is having issues or it's not working well. Anybody an idea? thanks!

Hi, Just received my Nanopi R5C. Flashed the Debian 12 (Bookworm) Minimal/IOT images with Armbian Linux v6.12 from here https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-r5c/. Everything works well except that I could not get the WAN port working. Anyone has any idea? BTW, the Nanopi R5C looks different from the image showed on https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-r5c/. Mine has only 2 x 2.5Gb ports instead of the 3 port. The image on the page looks like a NanoPi R5S... Just a side note. Cheers.

Hi team, This is not exactly Armbian related, however I hope to find some help here, also it can be useful for someone else in custom board development (my case). For testing I have Olimex RK3328-SOM-EVB and RK3318 TV box boards. They both behave the same way.
