Trying to understand this issue. If I ONLY need the 1Gbs (LAN1) ethernet connection and DO NOT need the 2.5Gbs (LAN2) connection, do I need to perform the "Fix" for this issue? I'll be using Armbian Buster for this device.

Hi there, I'm trying to made a dts file to handle a pican2 hat on ROCK64 armbian, but now I'm stuck. I'm a noob in writing dts files, I've tried to take as exemple dts from RPI and Thinker. edit: I've rebuild the kernel, and build the mcp251x.ko module, it load like a charm. But I assume I've to write a correct .dts file to link it to my devices tree. here is my loaded modules list: Module Size Used by can_bcm 24576 0 can_raw 20480 0 can 53248 2 can_bcm,can_raw mali 262144 0 rt2800usb 28672 0 rt2800lib 81920 1 rt2800usb rt2x00usb …

I use Armbian_20.05.3_Rockpi-4a_buster_legacy_4.4.213 The armbian kernel version uses 4.4-213 Follow the radxa official installation script: curl -sL https://rock.sh/get-rockpi-penta | sudo -E bash - The output is as follows: I don’t know where the problem is after execution, I still can’t drive it.... It feels like a failure caused by the kernel, it seems that it only supports linux-image-4.4.154-110-rockchip-gcef30e88a9f5 I executed the command to install the kernel: sudo apt-get install linux-4.4-latest Something went wrong. Hi all, I have several NanopiM4 SBC's, some are Nanopim4 and others Nanopim4v2. I use the Nanopim4v2 image on all of them and it works beautifully. When I ssh into the boxes I see which doesn't look great on here but it's basically NPIM4V2, I would like to change it to NPIM4 for the non M4V2 boards - anyone know how this is generated ? I don't even know what to call it ! Splash screen ? Logo ? Hope this makes sense

Hi. I am going to be crazy with this bad SBC (it is not the RsbPi killer!!). Armbian recognize Bluetooth and the PCIe M.2 drive but not the mDP, that I want because the HDMI one is not well soldered. I need the NVME disk too. But I am writing because in the Radxa forum they said that there is a patch to solve this mDP issue. They told me that it is simple to solve!!! But I did not understand what I can do with these codes. I send the link that they gave to me. Thanks for the help. Patch_github

I am starting Rock64 again after a long layoff. I'm a bit rusty, please forgive any forgetfulness. I tried downloading the Rock64 desktop image, but it was 404. I downloaded Armbian_19.11.6_Rock64_bionic_legacy_4.4.207_desktop.7z Unzipped it, and used etcher to write it to the micro-SD card. Booted up, but didn't get to a graphical desktop. Created a new user OK. I did # apt update, # apt upgrade, # reboot now. Still no graphical desktop. I did # apt install lxde lxdm. (this used to work OK). As expected, the installer asked if i wanted to use lxdm as the display manager. Yes. $ sudo armbian-config Updated the t…

I'm trying to use it with a TV that has HDMI input but it's 1360x766. xrandr says it's running at 1920x1080. It's very small, like keep a magnifying glass handy, and I don't have the bottom of the screen where LXDE puts the pager and buttons. I thought from my Raspberry Pi experience that I'd just change the mode in my config.txt https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/video.md but apparently the Rock64 isn't that evolved. Can I set an HDMI mode in my armbianEnv.txt? Can it use CVT modes? The standard 1360x768 mode isn't quite right. I've been around this stuff since you had to work out an xfree86.conf file on paper and take ti…

Hello people I would like to share my experience with the Mekotronics R58 mini PC (RK3588 box, in my case with 8Gb RAM and 32Gb EMMC). For a more review like post see NicoD's video review here on the Armbian forum: he just reviewed the new MonkaArmbian on this board. I got the Download links from NicoD, and in the meantime they are also on the official Mekotronics support site. I just want to share my experiences with others. So first I played a bit with Adroid 12, that came with the box. Android is the best supported OS for this box, performance wise. Video and emulated gaming seems to work great also 4K. But I wanted Linux on it, so I installed Debian from …

Servus! I'm running an "old" Helios64, still with debian buster and kernel 5.9.14-rockchip64 ... pretty much the same installation, as I had setup the Helios64 years ago. So far it is running great, with no real issues. I have ZFS running on it, with 3 disks. Today I decided to upgrade to something new - and installed Armbian 25.5.1 / Nobel - with kernel "6.12.32-current-rockchip64". Helios64 boots up and everything seems to work fine. I was able to import my ZFS pool and it was accessible - however, when I do heavy i/o, e.g. md5sum on a big file, I get a lot of these errors: Jun 08 20:06:36 helios64 kernel: ata2.00: failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED J…

I don't expect an answer at this point but FYI, the eMMC on a Rock5a and latest image does not work properly. It mounts and as soon as you start writing, errors occurs and the FS (ext4) is remounted RO. It happens whether I mount and write manually or I use the armbian-config to transfer the system on the eMMC. Using the Debian distro of radxa, I can write as much as I want on the eMMC w/o errors, so it does not seem to be a failed module, rather something in the armbian kernel. 2023-10-10T17:05:03.106367-07:00 rock-5a kernel: [62335.087809] Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0p1, logical block 648585 2023-10-10T17:05:04.109720-07:00 rock-5a kernel: [62336.091…

Hello Armbian Rockchip community, I'm working on getting Armbian based on the 6.1 BSP kernel running on a custom RK3328 board (specifically the MKS SKIPR for a 3D printer). This board is very similar to the libre renegade rk3328-roc-cc - just a few minor GPIO pin changes are required. I want to use the 6.1 BSP kernel because I expect it to have mpp video encoding capabilities. There is an existing repo that has this board working on the 6.7 mainline kernel with a couple of gpio patches. I've made some progress but am running into issues and could use some guidance. So far, I've been able to: Compile and run the basic 6.7 kernel for the MKS SKIPR - fr…

On the LTS version of this board, there is no other chance than to run the vendor-rk35xx kernel if you want to see something on a screen. I noticed strange behaviour when this SBC was attached to a 2k QHD screen with the latest vendor kernel. Display size was limited to FullHD instead QHD and Firefox were crashing. When I switched from desktop to terminal I saw the top left corner of the QHD terminal cut to the size of FullHD which was quite a problem because I could not see what I was writing. Today I tried kernel downgrade from 6.1.75 to 6.1.43-vendor-rk35xx and now I can see QHD on QHD and the Firefox stopped crashing. Hopefully, they will patch the ke…

Good day, I have recently purchased an Orange Pi 5 Pro and want to use Armbian on it. Armbian (Debian 13 Trixie) does not boot and gives a initramfs error. I have read on erasing the SPI flash memory, but have a few questions. Will erasing the SPI flash memory affect the booting of other operating systems. Is it safe to erase the SPI flash memory? What is the issue around Armbian not booting because of the SPI flash memory? How exactly would I safely erase the SPI flash memory? Thank You

My board is rockpi4b After starting, unplug or restart the display, the display will display armbian desktop directly, indicating that armbian is started normally, but there is no normal signal to the display. After restarting, you must switch the monitor power or unplug the hdmi cable to display. This is not a problem if you use the official debian of rock and the armbian5.67 downloaded from rock's official website. And i want to use gpio lib in armbian such as libmraa ,how should i do?

Hi. At first I'd like to apologize for the tone of this post, but there are things that I've been fighting with, without any success, for a long time. Problem 1. I have, as it seems, a very common problem with Armbian on RK3399. I burned Armbian 23.8.1 for the Rock Pi 4C+ onto an eMMC module, which booted, but there is no HDMI video output. I can't SSH into it over ethernet and provide more details because the server is disabled by default. I assume that the problem here is the same one as I often see coming back to all RK3399 boards and the solution is always the same - "libreelec patches for the HDMI subsystem" (whatever they are). If it'…

Hello, I installed OMV on my Helios64 and created a share. The device stays online and works well for hours and then at some point eth0 goes offline and no longer communicates. The only way to restore connectivity is with a reboot. I looked at the logs and dont see anything jumping out at me as to why this happens but I could very easily be missing something or the log didnt capture the event. I have not yet tried to console in through the USBc port when this occurs but will try next time. Has anyone else seen this issue or fixed it?

Hello everyone, I recently completed the installation on my OrangePi 3B, and while everything went smoothly during the process, I am currently facing an issue with the audio output. No sound is coming through the HDMI connection. No sound is coming through the 3.5mm audio jack either. I haven't added any images because there are no error messages, just no sound at all. Has anyone else encountered this problem or found a solution? I'd appreciate any tips or guidance on how to resolve this.

Hello guys! Recently I bought a Helios64 NAS and now I am playing around with it. My intention is to set it up as I need it, but I also want to understand how the system works. The last weeks I did a huge effort to read everything about what armbian exactly is, how it works, and also how the boot process works. I would say I have a good overview of the topics right now, but now I am at a point where I need your help. My intention right now is the following: I want to make an automatic backup system, which runs regularly and saves the backups incrementally on an external HDD. The idea is: When I am messing up my system (which I certainly will when p…

Hi all, I'm following a tutorial by @NicoD on building an Armbian image, the problem I have, is, my board ( NanoPiM4V2 ) isn't shown in the picklist - I 've tried one of the many RK3399 offerings ( Rockchip64 ) but whilst it built ok it didn't boot, anyone here know which board I should use ? I was wondering if there is a solution to boot from a USB thumb drive and flash the OS to an eMMC. Currently I´m running ARMbian on a Rock64 with an eMMC module installed. Since I´m still trying to figure out how to set up the device I keep reinstalling the OS. So it would be nice to have a way without opening the case, take out the eMMC, hook it up to the PC to flash and reinserting. Thanks in advance.

ok, so my flaming new helios finally arrived (after Christmas, what a pity) and, after spending some time assembling it (it's not the easiest thing in the world, expecially if you want to attach the mainboard BEFORE connecting all the cables, as specified within the instructions) I started configuring it. As i don't like the easy way (I'd have bought something else, if i would have) I went for a daily build with Groovy (i don't need OMV for my purpose and am quite accostumed to the ubuntu way), and the first thing i did was to make it a rolling release, putting devel in the place of groovy in sources.list, so that now i run hirsute (even if with a groovy userspace, a…

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the maintainers for their contributions. This project has helped me a lot, and it runs smoothly on my device. It seems that the status of the nanopi-r5s has been in the staging phase for a long time. I am wondering if there is an opportunity for it to be promoted to the standard support phase. Additionally, I would greatly appreciate having a compiled version of Ubuntu Server. Is there anyone willing to help with this? Thank you very much.

I have a suggestion for the moderators: Please move the Rockchip 3399 subforum from development to Bug Tracker if its ok! Most of the boards listed there: Nanopi Neo4, M4, NanoPC T4, Rock64PRO, Rock Pi4 are now marked as supported on the Armbian download page. I read a comment from @Igor sometime ago (not able to locate right now) that the only thing holding back the sub forum transfer was a lack of moderator action. Thanks.

I accidentally ripped off a capacitor from the back of the Helios64. This missing capacitor is right below the SATA connector. I searched for the schematic of the board without any success. Does anyone happen to know the value and size of this capacitor?

I am a newbie to linux. I installed orange pi os with arch linux from the official site, using rkdevtool and pressing maskrom button. I installed xfce and uninstalled gnome. The OS is stored in the emmc of the pi, and everything boots fine unless i insert the sd card in the designated sd card slot. At first, i had OS arch in that sd card, and when i first plugged it in the pi, the sd card OS booted. I figured that the pi gave priority to the boot section of the sd card, and since i dont need 2 OS on my pi, i decided not to investigate further, and just avoid the problem by wiping the sd card clean. I deleted all the partitions through the Windows Disk Partition app, forma…

Hi everybody, I installed Deb 12 Cinnamon Armbian flavor. This: dl.armbian.com/orangepi5-plus/Bookworm_current_cinnamon-backported-mesa When I open system setup there is no Idiom/Language Icon. Hey there, for quite a while I was using my Station P1 aka T-Firefly ROC-RK3399-PC-PLUS (with a nice case welded around) as crude NAS and wanted to do something new. However for unknown reason I cannot boot from microSD. I am used to that the Armbian boot loader should switch to microSD when detected so other OS can be used. Does not work though. It always starts booting from SPI which is fine in theory and then jumps to eMMC which boots fine. With SD inside it does the same. If I remove the eMMC module u-boot stucks to PXE which obviously fails and then drops to U-Boot shell. I played with that shell for a while including recovery…

After 2+ years of hard work the fan of my M4V2 (in metal case with NVMe adapter) has stopped with specific burning smell. I ordered the same fan model (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003989901083.html), replaced it and there is no rotation at all. Fan has been controlled by bash script from here: Has anybody got the same story? How it has resolved? My suspicions are on NVMe adapter, through which fan is powered - some draft scheme can be found, showing 5V/12V convertor and P-MOS switch: https://wiki.friendlyelec.com/wiki/index.php/NVME_SSD_Adapter_for_M4 SBC in this case works well w/o fan (~45 degrees of Celsius) during winter, but …

Hi, in Germany electrical Power ist getting more and more expensive (reaching 30ct per kWh). So I am trying to work out a Desktop Usercase Scenario (Mail, Office, Browsing, Video Streaming, Audio Streaming) on a SBC System. My experience is growing in Using a Manjaro XFCE on the Pi 4B (4GB), Booting from SSD. It works very well, nearly like the former used Deskmini A300 with Athlon 200GE. And I also tried out the Jetson Nano, Ubuntu 18.04. On both Systems you can get a satifsfying Desktop Experience, but the Jetson with ist Cortex A57 Core Base is a bit slower, also while it is used from an micro SD SanDisk A1 Card. I have a M4V2, and want to build a mini NAS with OpenMediaVault 5 under Armbian (OMV5 can only run under Armbiam/Debian, but not in Ubuntu) The M4V2 has a SATA hat, and it can support up to 4 hard drives (2.5 inches size), so the SATA hat is powered separately, and I guess this is why this hat always gets overheat. There is a 12V fan interface (2pin) on this SATA hat, just right biside the power button. And I found that there are already some solution in this forum, all kinds of scripts, can drive the Fan according to the CPU's temperature, or even SSD/HDD's temperature, this are so amazing. And then when I tried these scr…

(Note: this is crossposted from an ATS issue, since I think it might be quicker to get answers here. Will post on one thread when I get answers that work in the other) Have installed ats on my Rock64, running Armbian 22.05 Jammy with kernel version 5.10.63, and am having trouble getting the fan to spin. If you want the fans of your Helios64 to start spinning earlier, look no further. This will allow the fans to spin at a constant speed from the earliest stage of initrd until fancontrol is started by the system. My use-case is for full disk encryption and recovery in initramfs, sometimes I can have the machine powered on for quite a while before fancontrol starts. Or, if the boot process encounters an error the fans may never start, this prevents that. Step 1: Tell initramfs to include the pwm-fan module echo pwm-fan | sudo tee -a /etc/initramfs-tools/modules Step 2: Create a new file at /etc/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-top/fan with the followin…

New user of a Rock64 board, I've tinkered with a RaspberryPi and BeagleBone before but wanted something to set up as a home media server. I flashed the SD card with an "Armbian_5.42_Rock64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_4.4.124" image and it worked perfectly fine at home, connecting to my network, etc. However, I took it to a new location and it straight up refuses to boot. I've tried it on several displays and with several HDMI cables. It hangs for a solid 30-45 seconds after initiating boot with a black HDMI screen, and then turns off and back on dumping a log citing either spinup shutdown errors or a temperature shutdown on Core 0. I've flash…

Hello There! I'm currently using a Rock 4SE, tagged it as 4B because armbian says I should use the version for the board. I'm using a manually built image of armbian, though without any changes. I finally assembled my Helios 64 today. Went well, just took a while. I'm reading the Kobol Wiki page for installing the OS on the internal EMMC and am a bit confused. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I usually boot a SBC the first time from an SD card to do some testing. Then I'll use Armbian config to install the OS onto the EMMC when I am ready. The Kobol Wiki talks about first installing uboot from an SD card. Is that actually needed? Also, do I really need to set up a serial terminal session? I usually just SSH into the box (I know find the IP address via my DHCP server) and configure everything from there.
