I'm trying to compile an LED display driver: https://github.com/arthur-liberman/linux_openvfd I follow this description: https://github.com/bk3a12/openvfd_enable_for_tx3_mini However, I can't build anything and the whole process ends with errors: sh ./scripts/modules-check.sh /home/user/INSTALKI/linux_openvfd/driver/modules.order make -f ./scripts/Makefile.modpost make[3]: *** No rules to make an object '/home/user/INSTALKI/linux_openvfd/driver/modules.order', required by '/home/user/INSTALKI/linux_openvfd/driver/Module.symvers'. Hi there, I was a happy user of armbian balbe150's build and wanted to update to the latest one as i was on a very early kernel. I tried to push it on my box freshly factored by default usb burning tool and android img from mecool. Install SD as usual with the settings according to the first post of balbe thread (it changed with the u boot) but after installing on emmc i'm stuck at the u boot and don't know why as it was working correctly on previous builds. If i put SD back it boot right away on it. Guess it is a emmc boot number or something wrong like that. If i do lsblk i can see emmc 0 (sd) and emmc 1 (real emmc) D…

Device: A95X F1 TV Box SoC: Amlogic S905W OS: Armbian Linux Server (v6.12 and v6.18) & Desktop versions. Installation: To NAND/eMMC. The Issue: I am deploying about 10 units. The installation to NAND goes smoothly, and the system boots correctly. However, after running perfectly for a few hours, the devices crash: Video output goes to a black screen. Network is dead (No SSH, No PING). Power cycling the device does not recover the system; it remains in this "bricked" state. Recovery Method: Once the device crashes, I cannot simply reinstall Armbian. I am forced to: Flash the stock Android firmware using the USB Burning Tool. …

Hello everyone, I have a Tigre 2 TV BOX with Amlogic S905X, 1GB DDR3, and 16GB NAND storage. I'm interested in installing Armbian on this device, but there doesn't seem to be native support for the latest Armbian versions for NAND storage. I'm wondering if there is any way to install Armbian on this box, and if so, where I can find an Armbian version with a graphical interface and a Legacy Kernel 3.4.x that is compatible with Amlogic processors. I appreciate any help in this regard. Thank you in advance.

Hello, I have an issue with my box, which keeps freezing without any apparent error signals. It's probably me not knowing where to look, so I'm kindly asking for your help to understand how to proceed in identifying the root cause. My box is a MXQ PRO 4K (Leelbox), I'm using meson-gxbb-p201.dtb and u-boot-s905. Current version: v25.2 rolling for aml-s9xx-box running Armbian Linux 6.6.66-current-meson64 The box works perfectly for some hours, then it goes offline and disappears. The led is still blue (on), but even if I attach and hdmi cable there's no signal. I tried to leave a couple of ssh sessions opened to see what's happening bef…

Hi All, I've been trying to run Armbian on Minix for the past 2 days with no luck. I did the following: - dowloaded the image Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_focal_current_5.9.0_desktop.img.xz and unpacked it - copied it to SDCARD using dd - modified extlinux.conf uncommenting this line: #FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb - I uncommented #APPEND root=LABEL=ROOTFS rootflags=data=writeback rw console=ttyAML0,115200n8 console=tty0 no_console_suspend consoleblank=0 fsck.fix=yes fsck.repair=yes net.ifnames=0 - I renamed u-boot-s905x2-s922 to u-boot.ext - run the update selecting aml_autoscript.zip After reboot the dreadful ima…

Hi Everyone, I want to turn my tv box into a Linux server. I watch a video on YouTube and the steps were clear but when I click on the link to get the Armbian Linux server link I get different results than what is shown on YouTube video. In the video I could read Linux server but I couldn't find it here when I open the link. Maybe because it was an old video from 2017 and things changed. Maybe anyone can help me in this? Thanks a lot

Hi. I installed Armbian Server on my TV box (Ugoos X3 Pro 4/64 x905x3) to the NAND, and I have some trouble with the RAM size in the system. I use meson-sm1-ugoos-x3.dtb. It turns out that only 1.8GB of 4GB RAM is available in the system. On the Russian forum 4PDA, I found some information on how to fix this. I repacked the DTB file and changed memory@ from 0x40000000 to 0xFF000000. After that, 3.8GB RAM appeared in the system, but it turned out the system was unstable and randomly froze. However, when I installed Armbian from an SD card, all 3.8GB RAM was available in the system, and the system worked fine and stable. I also used meson-sm1-ugoos-…

Problem: It starts to boot, I see the Armbian splash screen, it stays for around 10 seconds then goes back to console with the (initramfs) prompt. Last 2 lines of boot process are: Begin: Loading essential drivers . . . done. Begin: Running /scripts/pre-mount . . . (initramfs) [ 37.824201] random: crng init done (initramfs) I got it to boot once into GNOME by putting a USB flash drive with the burned image AND a SD card at the same time. But that was only once and I could never repeat it. This happens on both versions of the X96 I have. And I've followed everything here: I've tried bookworm…

I have an x92 box with Amlogic Meson GXM (S912). The SOC has a Mali-T820 GPU, and the box has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of eMMC. I'm running Armbian 25.11.2 noble on it. While using the Wayfire Wayland GUI, there is a lot of kernel output like this, constantly repeating: panfrost d00c0000.gpu: shader power transition timeout panfrost d00c0000.gpu: tiler power transition timeout panfrost d00c0000.gpu: l2 power transition timeout The GUI works, and hardware 3D acceleration works. But it would be nice to get this spam out of the logs, and I also wonder if there is really some problem. Like, maybe the kernel doesn't know how to change GPU voltages. May…

Hello to everyone. I'm new in this forum. I'm trying to install (or adapt to install) armbian in an A95X MAX. I've compiled the entire system on a virtual machine and now i'm trying to boot in the box but no luck, the problem is that I erased the emmc to force the cpu to boot from sd but don´t boot, the only text line i get (via serial console) is "G12A:BL:0253b8:61aa2d;FEAT:F0F831B0:12020;POC:F;RCY:0;EMMC:0;READ:0;CHK:1F;READ:0;CHK:1F;READ:0;CHK:1F;SD?:20000;USB:8;". Hi. I apologize if this is in the wrong section, I'm new to the forum. I'm trying to run Armbian on the Jadoo 4, which is a rebranded MyGica/Geniatech ATV 585 Android TV box. I've been trying to follow these two tutorials (Video 1 and video 2) but when I insert the SD card into my device and hold down the rest pin, I end up in the recovery menu instead of booting straight into Armbian. Can someone help me out and give me a specific guide on how to do this? I know this information has probably been said a bunch of times on this forum, but I am genuinely lost. If it's important, I'm looking t…

I've created a new Linux image for the MyGica ATV 495X TV box, based on a Focal CLI image from ophub's github repo. The image includes a 5.10 kernel with HDMI, SD, eMMC, USB, Sound (HDMI+AV), Ethernet and WIFI all working. The image supports installing to the internal eMMC with or with the vendor u-boot. It is available at https://github.com/deonvdw/atvlinux/releases/tag/ATV495X-v1.00.

For a beginner like me this is a difficult box to install Armbian on. Before attempting the installation I had managed to install Armbian on a NexBox A95X (S905), and a M8S (S812). I want to share my experience with others because even though every box is different, what I did to install Armbian may give other users ideas on what to try on their own boxes. It is also good to record what I did in case I have to do it again years down the road 😅 The problem with the unit is that it is heavily customized, specially the boot loader. Even though it has a reset button, the usual toothpick method always result in the built-in rescue, i.e., it ignores am…

Hi Guys, I was trying to install Armbian in a couple of boxes buit I had no luck. One is a SEI500W from SEI Robotics with AML 905X2 and the other is a Sagecom DIW 585 with AML 905X I followed the process and after trying to boot to recovery they start Andoid tv as normal (just takes more time). In the other hand I was able to run EMUELEC (Gaming emulator) on both devices with an image on SD so I'm assuming the problem is not a block. What do you think? Is there any ideas to try? Thank you in advance!

I have got my T95Z Plus with S912 booting 6.12.24-current-meson64 just fine now. Getting Jellyfin up and running with all my old DVDs and CDs. Seems very capable. When do I push the OS into the eMMC? Is there a downside? Are there only so many times I can do this safely? If I chose to try the Debian builds - don't I just boot from a SD card and try it out? If I like that one better - then don't I just repeat the process and push that onto the eMMC? I believe I have the Android Source - or more precisely - I have a rom called SuperCelleron that I installed almost 10 years ago... That still boots when I don't have an SD card in. Also - …

I have an OTT TV Box, model ABOX-A1 ( 1G + 8G, S905X ). It is running Armbian 23.11.1 bookworm. How can I have hardware video decoding? Hardware video decoding support seems present in the 6.1.63-current-meson64 kernel. It seems only the V4L2 M2M API is present. Some firmware seems missing. I was dumb enough to try and update uboot on this little box and then it got sort of bricked. When connected using serial I could see it loop trying to boot from EMMC so I tried the reset button recovery to no avail. Shorting the EMMC pins works putting the device in recovery mode but the usb burn tool is stuck on formatting at 7% after it seems to sucesfull removed (and maybe flashed) uboot but the serial connection still shows it looping on EMMC. So I tried the next thing, shorting EMMC while connected using serial and I could the looping change to include sd and usb. So I made a sd recovery card using the burn card tool and it can boot from it, I can see ub…

Hello all, did any body able to login to Cinnamon version (screen shot below from here ) ? The box is A95X F3 Air first edition. For me it Bootes well and after root and user passwords are set it shows up desktop login screen and then after user login the desktop simply goes blank. On reboot again user login screen appears on the desktop but again blank screen after login. On the other hand the Armbian 24.8.0-trunk.399 Bookworm Gnome worked fine. I don't want any troubleshooting or run through logs and spend time on this but if any body faced such issue before just reply back if this happened with your box as well.

Hi, I'm trying to repurpose my Vero 4k (not 4k+) by installing Armbian on it. The device is based on the S905X and it looks like the most recent versions include a dtb for 4k, thanks to the work done by chewitt. I used the AMLogic s9xx TV Box edition and followed these instructions in the forums to copy the dtb and u-boot. However, I'm having some trouble getting the device to boot into an SD card flashed with the Armbian image. I was wondering whether anyone else has some experience with this. Here's what I tried so far: Downloaded and extracted the image (I used the Minimal/IoT version) Wrote the image to an SD Card (tried two …

Hello everyone, I have a device from this brand. An ISP in Turkey distributes this device. It needs to be unlocked. I want to install Armbian on it. However, it doesn’t look like any device I’ve seen online. The motherboard is different from all the devices I checked. Is there anyone who can help me? I can access the device via ADB. I can install APK files. The device has an S905X processor and 1 GB of RAM. It is running Android 9.

Hi I am trying to breathe some life into an older generic Amlogic TV box on my workbench and am hitting a brick wall with modern mainline images. I’m looking for a copy of a legacy, community-archived Armbian image (Kernel 5.4.y, 5.10.y, or 4.19.y) tailored for the S905X / S905W (meson-gxl) architecture. The newer automated GitHub builds (6.12+ kernels) completely purge the old asset files, and modern multi-stage boot configurations (boot.scr) are being entirely bypassed by my box's legacy onboard bootloader. Hardware Specs & Current Context: SoC: Amlogic S905X / S905W variant (Generic budget clone box, likely 1GB RAM) Target DTBs I'm t…

Hi, I would like to maintain the kernel version updated on the box (for video reading performance because I still got some stearing when the camera moves horizontaly). Now that there is no more support for amlogic (I can understand why reading the forum), can I use the available bullseye/linux-image-current-meson64 package from the armbian repo (which is now 5.9.6 not 5.9.0)? As I understand is it not that easy to compile a kernel by myself because there is so much patches applied. Best regards, Laurent.

Hi, I was successfully installing the "Armbian_23.02.0_amlogic_s912_jammy_5.15.96_server_2023.02.27.img.gz" image to the eMMC of my new alived Android TV box "Vorke Z6 Plus". Now, it is running as my Linux server for OpenHab and working fine. The "Vorke Z6 Plus" has a small LCD Display which usually shows the text "boot" if its booting in Android system and then showing the current time + some other information. With Armbian it shows continiously the text "boot". Here a general picture of the box (no, this is not my box, but a picture from the web, to show how the box looks like): I'm interested, if it is possible to change the display behav…

I used emmc 32gb partition backup using dd command and extract to usb, I use gparted to reduce the partition size ( ROOT_EMMC and BOOT_EMMC) to 12gb. After trying to update using an SD card, my box powers on but does not send anything to display. I have previously tried to flash using USB 2 cable with the USB burning tool but I get a "Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initailize status/USB Control setup error" message at 2%. I have tried 3 different files to the same effect, hence why I used SD cars and I am unable to fix the box using the USB tool. I need a boot image so I can try to fix it via SD card but I cannot find one anywhere. Please does anyone have a boot image I can use or can point out where I can find one or a way of fixing this by SD image?

Hello, I would be grateful for some assistance on a sound issue. I installed Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_bullseye_current_5.9.0_desktop.img.xz on a YUNDOO Y6 TV Box with S905X. It worked fine, but I believe that there is no support for Armbian 20 anymore. Useful info, the sound was OK and the audio card was identified as GXL-S905X-P212. Then, I tried various versions of Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.1.63 and Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_jammy_current_6.1.63. Most of them do work, but none detects the sound card. Hi there! Firstly, a huge thank you to all the maintainers for this amazing project. I happen to have got a Android tv box with a s905Y5 processor. I got this by a tv subscription from a company airtel in India. I unsubscribed from the subscription and my tv box is completely useless. it asks money for watching youtube!!!. I am extremely frustrated from this approach by this company so please help me save this from getting into e-waste. From my research i found that it runs android 14 with a custom launcher which checks for the subscription and a locked down kernel/bootloader which checks for signatures before boot. I came to know these from the uart output. I also found that it is basically a customised version of this box https://www…

G'day all this is my first post here, the title describes the brand model, apparent ram size and storage capacity of my tv-box, I know the chip has to be an S905* because I can boot coreelec with the dtb of s905W, but in armbian's case no luck yet. The device doesn't have an sd slot, however I was able to boot coreelec by using a usb drive and ADB. basically adb-connected to it and issued "adb reboot update". I have a similar device as this guy I think if not exactly the same: https://forum.atvxperience.com/viewtopic.php?t=6432 So what options do I have? Any help is welcome 😀

Hi Guys, I am looking for latest Armbian image which works for Beelink GT1 Ultimate 3/32GB (S/N = G912) Amlogic S912 TV box. My tv box: x96max 2+. Cpu: s905x3. Gpu: mali g31. So i've been using the build: "Armbian_community_24.8.0-trunk.6_Aml-s9xx-box_jammy_edge_6.8.10" and trying to burn it with balenaEtcher. The issue is that when ending to verify and configuring - inserting the sd card into a TX3 Mini (board is v1.6) goes into a bootloop. This does happen with all of my sd cards and flash drives, and no, its not that they're faulting, CoreELEC does flash and boot correctly in all of them. I also did the f3 test, and no issues were found. Something particular that I have found is that macOS does detect very easily the corruption and ejects the drive/card, while Windows just lets it pass "as intended" I'…

Hello and thanks for this great posting. I have a Tronsmart Vega S95 Telos. The boot logo from AmLogic says simply S905 and that matches my understanding of the unit. I managed to boot Armbian from the SD card using the reset button. I played with it for a while and all seemed very good. So I went ahead and executed the /root/install-aml-s905-emmc.sh script. In general it seemed to work. Took a huge amount of time, especially in copying USR. But it did complete. However, when trying to boot thereafter all I get is a black screen for many minutes. Finally, I gave up and pulled the plug. Has anyone any idea what I might be doing wrong here? Thanks so…
