Hi everyone! I have been reading a lot of topics here and is definitely helpful but I'm no expert nor experienced in this area. I know the basics and stuff but that is as far as I can go. A little bit of history to help with the issue. I tried to do a factory reset via the recovery mode for my RK 3229 but did not finish. I then received the following messages every time I try to access the Recovery mode: E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument) E:failed to mount /metadata (Invalid argument) Supported API: 3 E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument) E:Can ́t mount /cache/recovery/last_locale I read a topic that p…

Hi, I want to begin saying that I am an absolute newbie and I don't even know how I managed to get the installation process right. And also, I'm not a native English speaker so I apologize in advance for not making myself understandable. I had a Vontar X88 Pro tv box lying around that was pretty much unusable by itself, found this forum by chance and decided to give it a go and install armbian on the box and turn it into a small computer (that I really need by the way, I don't have a pc and I'm typing this post on a broken phone). The installation process has gone smoothly even though I got it wrong the first time and I had to do everything all over again. I …

I have an H96Max RK3318 box which I flashed with Armbian. Is there a way to switch back to Android (original firmware). With the original firmware, pressing the reset button at power connection would take the box into recovery mode. This is not the case for Armbian, so not sure how I can flash back Android on this box?

Inspired by the incredible work @jock and @ilmich have done to make the RK322x platform stable on mainline Linux, I decided to tackle the application side of things. My goal was to turn these "e-waste" TV boxes into fully functional, low-latency Android Auto head units for our cars. This fork of OpenAuto is built as one of my "Is it possible to turn this into that?" projects. It turned out to be one heck of a nightmare to pull off, but at the same time a lot of fun because I can see the potential of these TV Boxes as something you can actually put in your car and turn into a usable head unit! System Requirements Target…

So I bought this chinise Android TV Box and would love to install armbian on it. I am new on this and discovered armbian just after buying it. I didn't know there was no support and not official open source for the Rockchip RK3528, otherwise I would have chosen any other. The box works fine but it has that known malware that send packets to suspicious links (I scanned activity with pi-hole). Description says it has 2GB RAM and 16GB storage (Hynix H26M51002KPR) WiFi chip is LGX8800D I attach images of the board and all of it's componentes, including IR sensor and display. It also has a red LED that turns on when in stand-by mode. I hope th…

Hello, and thank you @balbes150 for his great work .. So I have an MX10 Tvbox (MXQ-RK3328-D4_A VER: 1.0 DATE: 20170713) and I was able to install on the Emmc (Armbian_20.07_Rk3328-tv_buster_current_5.7.8.img). It works really well, but I have a problem that I cannot target ... So I made the updates from the firmware of Balbes150, I installed YUNOHOST (great job by the way) and I therefore find myself with my MX10 transformed into a web server (Nextcloud, Jellyfin, Rainloop, ...) it works nickel ... I therefore invested in a 500GB SSD to put on the box .. And here are the concerns that arrive ... My SSD is recognized as a SCSI disk ?? finally I can build it, assemble …

I have a Hannspree TV box with RK3288 (Android mini PC) on which I would like to install Armbian according to instructions from this forum (Multitool). Multitool booted Backup of the original firmware Flash written with Armbian. Reboot (did not happen, box does not respond) Power off and power on. Monitor stays black, monitor goes into standby Just now I have to note that there would have been a more appropriate thread (without Q8), so I fucked up from the start. I tried to recover the box with the original firmware I had backed up with the multitool using a USB-A to USB-A cable. But this image was not recogni…

Hello everyone, I have an rk3318 h96 max , 2gb, 16gb configuration. I've followed installation but couldn't get frequency scaling working. (/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ is empty) I am wondering if anyone can confirm that it works with the latest images. If it does work maybe there is something wrong with my dtb file. Thank you! Gnome has win popularity for our boxes because of wayland replacing XCFE. The reason is that panfrost driver works much better with mali in wayland. But LXQT has reached wayland now and is a true lighter desktop. When 2.1 gets the repo this will become true.

Hello and greetings to the community, I have already been using the Armbian operating system, almost at the beginning of the year, a good, very stable distribution for this type of boxes, also with very important functions and applications, but I have a query, is it possible to update the kernel in this type of box ?, I am using the kernel inherited from the startup installation (4.4.194-rk322x), if it is possible, how is the procedure? and another query, when I want to restart the system, it does not restart but turns off, either with the option "restart" from the system itself or with the command "reboot from the terminal, in both cases the system turns off and I have t…

Hello everyone, I'm trying to locate a specific older Armbian build for an RK3318 TV box and hoping someone in the community might have it archived. I'm looking for: Version: Armbian 22.05.1 (or similar from that era) Kernel: Legacy 4.4.213 Base: Debian Buster Desktop: XFCE (or even a CLI version is fine) The original download link from users.armbian.com/balbes150/ is now a 404. I understand this is a very old "Community Maintained" build and that RK3318 support has moved to newer kernels . I'm specifically seeking this kernel version for a project. If anyone has this image file or a similar legacy build (kernel 4.4.x) for the RK331…

Hello everyone, I’m trying to install Armbian on a TV box with an RK3328 SoC, but I’m running into several issues. Here’s what I’ve done so far and the information I have: Box model: dnetSmart-YSE, version 10 Chipset: RK3328 Kernel version: 4.4.179 PCB info: t9-RK3328-D4, ver 2.0.2018 Design by: Hugsun I followed the instructions I found on the forum to install Armbian, but it’s not working. I’ve tried several methods: Using the microSD card: I tried installing Armbian on a microSD card and booting it from the box's microSD port, but it didn’t work. Using a USB drive: I also tried booting from a USB drive plugged into one of th…

Hi, as I posted some time ago I can't boot multitool on this box using SD card. I just tested both LibreELEC-RK322x.arm-10.0-nightly-20230925-65bd849-rk322x.img and LibreELEC-RK322X.arm-11.0-nightly-20240218-d7324fb-rk322x.img and they both seem to work fine except that 10.0 doesnt support wifi chip. I wanted to try (again) to install to internal or install ARMBIAN using multitool but it doesnt boot at all (screen is blank, cant remember if I have to do something else) yet LibreElec images boot fine. Am I missing something? I thought that multitool boot was "fixed" on my device. What can I do to boot multitool on this box, or help to diagnose what is the prob…

Hi everybody, I just bought an X96 X6 TV box (8G/64G) to run Home Assistant. However it is not popular so there is no Armina for it. Home Assistant requires Debian 11/12 (linux kernel, no desktop version) to operate. Hope everyone can help me. Thank you very much. I only need 1 file *.img file to install Home Assistant, no need: USB, wifi, Bluetooth... because it can be difficult. Thank you very much!

Hi guys, I have an x88pro 10 with a debian bulleye installation. I bought an external lcd touchscreen monitor to control my klipper printer with Klipperscreen. I tried to set the resolution using setenv video-mode sunxi:1024x768-16@60,monitor=hdmi,hpd=0,edid=0 but nothing change. this is the output of xrandr user@klipper:/boot$ DISPLAY=:0 xrandr -q Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 4096 x 4096 HDMI-1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal le…

I decided to learn something interesting and wanted to build an image for the Anbernic RG353P console. I checked that uboot has DTS files for my model in the main branch and that there is support in the Armbian kernel (vendor) for my hardware. Unfortunately, after building the image and uploading it to the console, nothing happens. The console has dual boot Linux/Android, Linux should boot from the SD card. Unfortunately, the system immediately loads Android and skips my card. I tried various options in board config, but to no avail. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong with the configuration? The board configuration is copied from the existing one…

Hi I'm currently running Armbian on my Minix NEO X7 box. The video works, but I can't really get the ethernet working. The reason for it is that the ethernet is controlled by some of the GPIO pins, so basically the ethernet chip (not onboard, it has an USB external onboard chip) is shut down by the GPIO. I've tried to extract the dts file from my Android ROM without any luck, mainly because the kernel of the image (Finless ROM v1.7) is too old to even contain one. Does anyone have any working dts file that would bring the ethernet port back to life, or do I have to bypass the GPIO, so I can access the ethernet? Thanks for all the replies

Hi all, I'm a newbie The two boxes have similar hardware (RK3566 + Mali-G52-2EE + 8GB ram), and I've searched the forums and seen both have been experimented with Armbian. But I'm still confused about the bottom line: on which of the two Armbian is better supported or easier to run? That'll be the main deciding factor for me, but of course I'll be interested in any other comment or general advice. TIA!

Hi everyone! 👋 I managed to get Armbian running on a generic RK3518 TV box — mainline U-Boot, onboard Ethernet, and AIC8800D80 SDIO Wi-Fi all working. I couldn't find a single RK3518 thread here when I started, so I wrote everything up to help the community. Full step-by-step guide, device tree, and the loader binaries I built are in my GitHub repo: 👉https://github.com/juliovendramini/rk3518_armbian Happy to answer questions. Hope it helps someone! 🙂

I have tried the latest image 20.11, focal and buster. System seemed running stable at first, but in a few hours, there was kernel panic which was caused by CPU. Issue happened randomly, under load or when practically idle. Is it possible u-boot i used is causing it, or is that bugger just needed to boot? I wanted to play with it and run it as a server, but sadly it's not stable enough.

I have an old and weak mxq pro 4k TV box (fake amlogic s905w), rk3228a checked, sv6051p wifi. The image I'm starting with is here: https://www.t95plus.com/forums/downloads/Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_soquartz_jammy_current_5.19.7.img.gz This is the only image I've had any success booting a SOQuartz from microsd card. In fact, the *only* card that will work is very specifically a 32GB Sandisk Ultra A1 U1. No other type of card will boot; not even a 16GB version of same Sandisk series. Baffling. This, however, is not my main issue. The problem is that I have single option for sd card which is forcing me to make sure the image will even fit onto another card -- or Balena Etcher will complain that the drive is too small. This only happens sometim…

I installed armbian on a micro sd to be able to install it on my Dq08 RK3528. The boot succeeded on the sd card perfectly. I wanted to install armbian on the memory of the box with "armbian-install" I followed the instructions I did the 2. and Then I did the 5. it ask me to poweroff and since it does not want to turn on or be recognized by my peripherals connected. I've tried rebooting from an sd but it doesn't work. But I tried on another box with the same sd and it worked. So I think the box is brick. I've decided to do the tutorial from the sellers on aliexpress with the usb to usb cable. With the av button, the software doesn't even recognise it. I don't know…

some info: The image I am using on my device is; Armbian_22.02.0-trunk_Rk322x-box_bullseye_legacy_4.4.194_minimal.img I chose this, as any of the other images from here; https://users.armbian.com/jock/rk322x/armbian/stable/ other than the xfce desktop image would lead to this happening: (if there's a fix for this I'd rather use one of the more up to date images) with the bullseye legacy minimal image set up on my device I then did this: yes | sudo apt update yes | sudo apt dist-upgrade yes | sudo apt --fix-missing yes | sudo apt install neofetch chromium xorg xfce4 lightdm sudo reboot heres the neofetch output if it help…

I've installed Armbian legacy kernel 4.4.194-rk322x on a Rockchip box (RK3229, SSV6051 wireless chip). Most things have worked thus far but I've hit a major roadblock with the network interfaces. Output of nmcli shows that all devices are unmanaged (this includes ethernet). I've tried several remedies: - explicitly setting a managed connection (nmcli device set wlan0 managed yes) has no effect: the device remains unmanaged - in the file /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf the option of setting devices to be managed by NM was already set to true (managed=true). I have changed this to false and back with no change in either scenario …

Hi, I have a tv box (mxq pro 4k 5g with rk3228a chipset). The wifi chipset is sv6152p. The armbian image "Armbian_21.08.1_Rk322x-box_buster_legacy_4.4.194_xfce_desktop.img.xz" works on it with the wifi driver ssv6x5x. I want to use librelec on it. Hi, I've got this old board from 2015/2016 with an rk3229. It is running Android 6 with a Linux kernel version 3.x compiled for the rk322x family. The board is branded as Leelbox Q1 but on the PCB it is marked as an MXQ-Q1. I have not found much info about either on this forum. I've tried the multitool image, along with three or four minimal armbian images (both current, legacy and even some builds from 2019) but nothing seems to boot. When I use the multitool image I think I get the furthest, as the ethernet lights turn on but then I get no output on my screen. I was wondering if some of you have experience with this kind of board or have …

Hi there, RK322A-box with R329Q v2.0 board, during the firmware upgrade [using Factory tool v 1.8] “Preparing IDB failed” occurred, most likely because that image file was wrong. Hello, Software developer (web) from the Netherlands here. Just picked up a "X88 Pro 20" box from AliExpress: Link to AliExpress. I'm wondering if it is any good and if it will run armbian. I've looked at several other SoC's, but this one looked quite nice, especially at this price point (49 euros). I needed a bit more GPU power and RAM because i'm planning to do a electron (chromium+node.js) based home control app for the thing. If somebody got armbian working with some features (hardware acceleration is quite important), i would be thankful if you would like to share your thoughts and methods on how to install it since i'm (very) new to this…

Hi everyone I installed Armbian Focal Legacy Minimal (UBUNTU version 20.04) on my MXQPro-RK3228A, once that this board has only 1 Giga RAM and 8 of ROM. I did this migration once that KODI in Android on this TV-BOX, really does not work appropriately. So, the linux with the XFCE was a natural path for me. Well, after installation I try the Linux with KODI... it works, but VERY SLOWLY ... impossible to use something like that. I just watch European TV channels, more specific the FRENCH TV. I have a VPN and to watch by browser should be a solution except that Firefox is quite SLOW also. So I would some application for Linux to wat…

Hello all. I have an Android-based Yundoo Y8 TV box, which I want to use for UPS management. I want it to be able to run Armbian to install the UPS management software, but I cannot figure out which Armbian I should download. The board is based on Rockchip RK3399. I couldn't find anything in the forum about RK3399... I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Purchase Link This should be a fun one. Bought the 4GB/128GB variant. AP6330 Wifi Stock software is a really, really bad Android TV port. Looks like a Google Pixel 5 image that has had RK3528 support hacked into it. Some parts report the device as Pixel 5, others MX10. RKdumper wouldn't work. Wifi is hardcoded to China region in the kernel commandline, so wifi doesn't work in North America. Boots into a setup wizard that can't be closed, and forces an internet connection. Since wifi is broken out of the box, had to use ethernet to get past the setup wizard. Transpeed does not have a website…

Hi, I installed the wrong image on a Rockchip RK3288 (Hannspree) Android 5.1 TV box. Now it won't boot from internal memory or sd-card, power on, light up or anything. Like it was hit by lightning. Is this expected? What has happened? (This very comprehensive and helpful post says that "If the internal flash does not contain a bootable system, they will always boot from the sdcard.") Thank you good people (The tag on this post is wrong... I could not find a RK3288 tag)

Hi Armbian community I have a Giada DN74 media player and would like to install Armbian on the box. First I try (through SD card) some community maintained images like the Orange Pi RK3399 or the Firefly RK3399, but none of them worked. Some google search teach me the Rockchip SoCs have fixed boot order (SPI->eMMC->SD card), and this cause my boot issue. Then search again how boot from SD card, the only solution which I find is to erase eMMC, so I erase the eMMC using: "rkdeveloptool ef". Unfortunately the box still not want to boot, so I open the box and try to identify the UART to see what is happening during the boot. I f…

Hi guys, To begin, a big thanks to all devs! Unbelievable work done so these boxes do not end up in a landfill of recycle bin. maybe this has been answered before but in this vast ocean of information I must admit I am drowned! I read the instructions and successfully flashed my box but when I run "sudo rk322x-config" I can only choose the CPU and eMMC then it ends and I am back to terminal prompt. I can see in the config screen that the WiFi chip is recognised as "south silicon valley 6051p 6256p" but I can't enable it. Under connections I can only see ethernet. What am I doing wrong? This is a sidebar/urgent request for help. I was previously able to install Armbian noble on my YY3568 board thanks to instructions from these forums (https://forum.armbian.com/topic/49775-board-bring-up-youyeetoo-yy3568-rockchip-rk3568/). I now need to use the board for a Debian project to help a friend that lost their backup, and am unable to reproduce the instructions in that post to empty the eMMC and enable SD boot. The poorly written/flawed instructions in this post involve loading a config file into RKDevTool, writing loader, parameters and uboot, then there is a line about "destroying partitions by writing wipe_part" (a file you can download in the post)…

Hello. I am trying to have this new(?) tv box built around a RK3228A cpu detect the correct resolution of my monitor. In U-boot, I get a correct full HD 1920x1080p resolution. However, as soon as the U-Boot passes to the kernel, it switches to 1024x768. How can I correct this? If I can't correct the detection of EDID, can I force it? I've tried to add this to /boot/armbianEnv.txt, but it did not work : extraargs=drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=HDMI-A-1:edid/1920x1080.bin video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60 Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello. I recently got a vontar-dq08 working with armbian. I used someone's build for a x88pro, so I replaced the dtb with the one that came on my board. Hi, I recently flashed armbian on the emmc of this tv box and noticed that the reported size of the internal memory is 16GB and the RAM is 1GB. Now the tv box specs should actually be 64GB and 4GB of RAM. Now I'm not sure if this is a case of a software issue, or what I suspect being fake specs reported. Is there a way I can make sure which case it is? I also opened the box and took a pic of the inside where you can see the RAM modules. There are 8 of them, 4 on each side. I'm not entirely sure about their capacity, maybe you can help me figure it out. If oyu need any other information I will provide, let me know if there is any other way to find …

i have armbian image Armbian_21.11.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_bullseye_edge_5.14.14_minimal.img installed on an N5 Nova TV box. I tested it running from the sd card and it works fine and reboots without any issues. however, when i installed it to the eMMC using the burn image selection from Mulitool, it boots the first time OK but then never boots on its own afterwards. My only recourse was to re-install it to an sd card again Has anyone seen this issue and any comments would be greatly appreciated
