What you need: - A DQ08 (got mine from aliexpress) - An sdcard (4g if you want to use external usb3 ssd or 32g if not) If you're lazy and trust my image (you shouln't, as I can bundle malwares inside): - flash this using this - usb2serial included - put in DQ08 and plug it in ethernet - scan for the ip using this - in windows terminal, using password=1234: ssh root@BOXIP To build the sd card, i've used this tutorial: - install wsl on your windows - apply this patch Spoiler sudo wget --output-document=/usr/share/keyrings/armbian-next.gpg https://apt-test.next.armbian.com/armbian-next.gpg cat << EOD…

So I bought this chinise Android TV Box and would love to install armbian on it. I am new on this and discovered armbian just after buying it. I didn't know there was no support and not official open source for the Rockchip RK3528, otherwise I would have chosen any other. The box works fine but it has that known malware that send packets to suspicious links (I scanned activity with pi-hole). Description says it has 2GB RAM and 16GB storage (Hynix H26M51002KPR) WiFi chip is LGX8800D I attach images of the board and all of it's componentes, including IR sensor and display. It also has a red LED that turns on when in stand-by mode. I hope th…

Hello everyone, My university recently purchased a few hundred of these RK3288-based tablets. They're used to display room schedules, control printer confiurations, and control TV inputs throughout our engineering and computer science buildings. The buildings are littered with them; you can't walk 10 feet in any direction without passing one mounted on the wall. Given that they have cameras and microphones, and they run an ancient Android, maybe this wasn't a great idea... Anyway, the no-name eMMC on these things tends to go bad pretty quickly, and the board has no microSD slot, so SD booting is not an option. The university has given me access to …

Hi everyone, newbie here. Experienced developer with some outdated embedded experience. Very little experience in nowadays embedded technologies, but it's something I'm interested in learning about. Doing fewer hours on the day job atm and picked up one of these as a home project. Goal is to get armbian working fully on this. When (if) successful probably will do a libreElec - this should make for a powerful Kodi box. Tanix Tx66, around €50 on aliexpress, I have the 4GB RAM 32GB eMMC flavour. Product Specification: CPU : RK3566 / Mali-G52 GPU RAM : 2GB/4GB LPDDR4 ROM : …

Hi, as I posted some time ago I can't boot multitool on this box using SD card. I just tested both LibreELEC-RK322x.arm-10.0-nightly-20230925-65bd849-rk322x.img and LibreELEC-RK322X.arm-11.0-nightly-20240218-d7324fb-rk322x.img and they both seem to work fine except that 10.0 doesnt support wifi chip. I wanted to try (again) to install to internal or install ARMBIAN using multitool but it doesnt boot at all (screen is blank, cant remember if I have to do something else) yet LibreElec images boot fine. Am I missing something? I thought that multitool boot was "fixed" on my device. What can I do to boot multitool on this box, or help to diagnose what is the prob…

Does anyone know if the H20 soc RK3228A TV box is compatible with installing the multitool on eMMC? I don't think so, on the PCB the model is H20_221_V1.71_230617. I couldn't find any pads on the pcb to try to force access to the mask rom. On the forum I seem to have read about others who have had the problem of bricking this TV box, I think it is still not supported by the multitool.

some info: The image I am using on my device is; Armbian_22.02.0-trunk_Rk322x-box_bullseye_legacy_4.4.194_minimal.img I chose this, as any of the other images from here; https://users.armbian.com/jock/rk322x/armbian/stable/ other than the xfce desktop image would lead to this happening: (if there's a fix for this I'd rather use one of the more up to date images) with the bullseye legacy minimal image set up on my device I then did this: yes | sudo apt update yes | sudo apt dist-upgrade yes | sudo apt --fix-missing yes | sudo apt install neofetch chromium xorg xfce4 lightdm sudo reboot heres the neofetch output if it help…

I have an H96Max RK3318 box which I flashed with Armbian. Is there a way to switch back to Android (original firmware). With the original firmware, pressing the reset button at power connection would take the box into recovery mode. This is not the case for Armbian, so not sure how I can flash back Android on this box?

New to armbian, I have a H96Max Android TV Box, Initially I flashed it with Armbian_23.11.1_Rock-3a_bookworm_current_6.1.63_gnome_desktop but there was no signal in HDMI, I then flashed it with Armbian_22.05.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_jammy_current_5.15.35_xfce_desktop and Armbian_22.02.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_bullseye_edge_5.15.16_minimal, on both the image I was able to get the armbian running. The issue now I am facing is, in both the cases the WIFI is detected and SSIDs are listed but when I try to connect with password with router, it fails, I double checked if I am using the correct WIFI security. I tried connecting with hotspot on iPhone but having same issue, However if I enab…

Hello, I do have a X88 and stopped working, only red light, and nothing else. After watching many videos on Youtube, found that there was a semiconductor getting really hot, and there is a short on in/out. I am sure there is a replacement for that, but the problem is that I cannot find the part number or anything. Attached, picture with a circle on that. Anyone have any idea which semiconductor is that ? This is 5 PIN (3+2). Appreciated it.

I installed armbian on a micro sd to be able to install it on my Dq08 RK3528. The boot succeeded on the sd card perfectly. I wanted to install armbian on the memory of the box with "armbian-install" I followed the instructions I did the 2. and Then I did the 5. it ask me to poweroff and since it does not want to turn on or be recognized by my peripherals connected. I've tried rebooting from an sd but it doesn't work. But I tried on another box with the same sd and it worked. So I think the box is brick. I've decided to do the tutorial from the sellers on aliexpress with the usb to usb cable. With the av button, the software doesn't even recognise it. I don't know…

edit: Found the solution Got this tv box "x88pro 10" repurposed to run armbian by someone and it demands login/password. The default one(root 1234) doesn't work. Also I can't seem to stop the loading process and get to grub to try and delete passwords manually from there(tried pressing random keys during boot, tried holding shift). Please help And also point me to an armbian image I could use in case I fail to reset the password Armbian version it runs atm is 22.05.0-trunk Bullseye tech specs are: RK3318 Quad-Core 64bit Cortex-A53, Penta-Core Mali-450 up to 750Mhz, 2 or 4Gb ram

I've installed Armbian legacy kernel 4.4.194-rk322x on a Rockchip box (RK3229, SSV6051 wireless chip). Most things have worked thus far but I've hit a major roadblock with the network interfaces. Output of nmcli shows that all devices are unmanaged (this includes ethernet). I've tried several remedies: - explicitly setting a managed connection (nmcli device set wlan0 managed yes) has no effect: the device remains unmanaged - in the file /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf the option of setting devices to be managed by NM was already set to true (managed=true). I have changed this to false and back with no change in either scenario …

Hi, im thinking about a new low budget tablet with RK3562 to use with Armbian. The main points would be to have the console output on the LCD and maybe also the usability of touch for direct input. There is already someone that own a similar product? (tablet with soc RK3562 or just RK) Im newbie about serial console and debugging, eventually the unlock of bootloader will be a big job or the RK share compatibility in some aspects of booting and more? I found out that there is already a NPU support on github for the RK3562 (rknpu2 repo) Thanks for the replies to all.

I have purchased the following board, named H20 from AliExpress: https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005005623753864.html I could boot the multitool for RK322x by holding the reset button, then selecting boot menu from Android's bootloader. After installing an armbian release, the board does no longer boot, and a red LED turns on immediately after giving power. I would like to try other Armbian images, but, I am no longer able to boot the multitool as I no longer have access to the Android bootloader, which I assume has been deleted by flashing the new ROM. Also, any attempt at booting the multitool on an SD card are failing. Does the SD card have p…

Hi, I've got this old board from 2015/2016 with an rk3229. It is running Android 6 with a Linux kernel version 3.x compiled for the rk322x family. The board is branded as Leelbox Q1 but on the PCB it is marked as an MXQ-Q1. I have not found much info about either on this forum. I've tried the multitool image, along with three or four minimal armbian images (both current, legacy and even some builds from 2019) but nothing seems to boot. When I use the multitool image I think I get the furthest, as the ethernet lights turn on but then I get no output on my screen. Picked up a couple of these over at the local second hand store... https://www.aopen.com/AU_en/products_info/Chromebox-Mini My guess is that these were digital signage oriented, as they were in a crate with a few Startech USB-DVI adatpers, etc... Anyways - they're end-of-support for ChromeOS... There's a couple of posts over on Alpine to get things running there... It's close enough to TinkerBoard to maybe do some effort, and with Chromeboxes/Chromebooks on the same SoC/BSP...

I have a RK3328 android tv box. After flashing new firmware to it, using Rockchip Batch Tool, the box, connected to the tv, shows briefly RK3328 logo on tv screen, and then black screen. After that, I connect the box to the computer using usb cable, without pressing reset button on the box. Rockchip Batch Tool software, under the Connected Device, shows a green symbol. It shouldn't, because I didn't press the reset button on android tv box. It's like android tv box is in reset mode, and I didn't put it in reset mode. It's like there is a short somewhere that puts it in reset mode. And, maybe that is the reason the box doesn't boot up normally, but has a bl…

Hi, I decided to switch from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 on my MVR9 (Rockchip 3328). The previous version (Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_focal_current_5.9.0.img.xz) that I had used, had been realized by Balbes150. Hello people, At this point the Mekotronics R58 is a RK3588 box that supports the following OS: - Debian - Ubuntu - Android 12 - Reborn OS (not on Mekotronics site yet, it's pretty recent, but from the download links at Leepspvideo's latest video on the R58X) I wonder, with the information and builds that are available already, wouldn't it possible to create an Armbian version now? I tested the official Debian version from Mekotronics site and it looks pretty slick, but it has some Wayland issues (not running/installing some standard SW like Gimp, but everything on the board looks and works great). I had a Vontar X88 Pro tv box lying around that was pretty much unusable by itself, found this forum by chance and decided to give it a go and install armbian on the box and turn it into a small computer (that I really need by the way, I don't have a pc and I'm typing this post on a broken phone). The installation process has gone smoothly even though I got it wrong the first time and I had to do everything all over again. I …

The image I'm starting with is here: https://www.t95plus.com/forums/downloads/Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_soquartz_jammy_current_5.19.7.img.gz This is the only image I've had any success booting a SOQuartz from microsd card. In fact, the *only* card that will work is very specifically a 32GB Sandisk Ultra A1 U1. No other type of card will boot; not even a 16GB version of same Sandisk series. Baffling. This, however, is not my main issue. The problem is that I have single option for sd card which is forcing me to make sure the image will even fit onto another card -- or Balena Etcher will complain that the drive is too small. This only happens sometim…

I am new to this. I have an H96Max Android TV box which I flashed successfully with Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Linux 5.15.93-rockchip64the latest armbian image. Wifi is running fine. However, I failed to activate bluetooth. I read several post around the same topic with no luck. I am attaching several logs I collected and hope it can clarify more the case, so someone can help resolving this. =============================================== root@rk3318-box:/# dmesg | egrep -i 'blue|firm' [ 0.000000] psci: PSCIv1.1 detected in firmware. Hi I'm currently running Armbian on my Minix NEO X7 box. The video works, but I can't really get the ethernet working. The reason for it is that the ethernet is controlled by some of the GPIO pins, so basically the ethernet chip (not onboard, it has an USB external onboard chip) is shut down by the GPIO. I've tried to extract the dts file from my Android ROM without any luck, mainly because the kernel of the image (Finless ROM v1.7) is too old to even contain one. Does anyone have any working dts file that would bring the ethernet port back to life, or do I have to bypass the GPIO, so I can access the ethernet? Thanks for all the replies

I got an Armbian image from this thread. The image works wonderful, the only thing I would like to do is to install the system to the internal NAND of the device. I have something simillar to Minix Neo x7 mini, with RK3188 SoC. As I say, the image works perfectly, I just wanna know if there's any way to transfer that image directly onto the internal NAND so I don't have to use the SD card. If you need anything I can provide, I will try my best to get it and post it here. Thanks for any future response. Peace

Hi, I recently flashed armbian on the emmc of this tv box and noticed that the reported size of the internal memory is 16GB and the RAM is 1GB. Now the tv box specs should actually be 64GB and 4GB of RAM. Now I'm not sure if this is a case of a software issue, or what I suspect being fake specs reported. Is there a way I can make sure which case it is? I also opened the box and took a pic of the inside where you can see the RAM modules. There are 8 of them, 4 on each side. I'm not entirely sure about their capacity, maybe you can help me figure it out. If oyu need any other information I will provide, let me know if there is any other way to find …

Hi, I am a total newb with a few too many holes in my ozone layer. I have managed to use the Multitool and an image of Armbian from Inovato that runs on their Quadra SBC. I have managed to get my old H96Max to run software called WSJT-X from Joe Taylor and his team at Princeton. I have had a lot of fun and am still having a lot of fun running the H96Max (RK3318) the radio is a small rig called the QDX from QRP Labs. I run it (the computer) off a Powerbank and although it doesn't always boot it is very much a 'less is more' machine for my mind and is grand 99% of the time. I would like to be able to run X11vnc on boot/power up and not have to use ANY machine through a 19" …

Tried to flash it with common Rockchip Box technique with no luck (tried some roms from Armbian, firefly, and some OpenWRT method ... refer Fig. 1.5, 1.6). Anyone who can give some pointer will be much appreciate. Known techniques: - enter recovery mode = plug in the HDMI, use screw driver to poke the inner "hidden button" in audio jack, and plug power - working - another way of getting into the recovery mode = using the command "adb reboot recovery" from either network or USB type C - not able to flash - enter bootloader mode = using the command "adb reboot bootloader" from either network or USB type C - don't know how this work - enter…

Hey guys, i am in trouble with my device (T95Plus, rk3566). Its no longer detected by windows using the usb-otg cable and Android Tool. So i can't reflash the original firmware. I compiled a custom u-boot for rk3566 with bootefi command added. I copied it over to partition 2 of the emmc where the original u-boot was located. Since then its broken. I thought its bricked, but DigitalDaz told me, its only softbricked. Anyway it logs the output over the uart port very well. Its first searching on sdcard for an SPL (secondary program loader) partition and fails, then tries the internal eMMC. It says no misc partition found. I foun…

Firstly, I would like to say I know next to nothing about what I am doing at all. I'm trying to learn though! With the current shortage of decent SBCs at a reasonable price I thought being able to run Armbian on the above device would make it a very good deal. I am only interested in using the device as a server so I currently have no information on running it as a desktop though I can burn an image and post the results if anyone is interested. From reading the forums it seems many devices will try and boot from external storage of some sort before booting from emmc. This turned out not to be the case for this device. I blun…

Hello dudes from italian Far East! I'm just starting to explore the sauvage world of modding as the early step of a noob, than I politely apologize in advance for my questions. I have a little and economic TV box RK322X-based, working (not so fine) with an Android 6 custom ROM. I will try to switch it to Armbian but, at the same time, I'll like to prove it for a while without any change. Is possible (and fine working) burn an USB stick for make it? Is it correctly and extensively explained in the forum and I'm only too lazy to search? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have a basic doubt regarding the booting of multiboot vs armbian Multiboot gets booted from sdcard even if the tv box has Android. If multiboot can do it, why not armbian. I can see multiboot has vfat partition having kernel file. And another partition as ext4 that had Linux files. If we make armbian by modifying the initrd, will it get booted like multiboot, without erasing Android and not loosing Android functionality. It will be like dual boot also.

Hello, Software developer (web) from the Netherlands here. Just picked up a "X88 Pro 20" box from AliExpress: Link to AliExpress. I'm wondering if it is any good and if it will run armbian. I've looked at several other SoC's, but this one looked quite nice, especially at this price point (49 euros). I needed a bit more GPU power and RAM because i'm planning to do a electron (chromium+node.js) based home control app for the thing. If somebody got armbian working with some features (hardware acceleration is quite important), i would be thankful if you would like to share your thoughts and methods on how to install it since i'm (very) new to this…
