I think my level of proficiency with armbian has earned me an "ignore" status here :-) I am trying to configure the serial port on a Banana Pi M2 Zero. I have done it a Raspberry PI and confirmed that all works well. Can anyone help me with he following questions? How do I enable the UART for GPIO 14 & 15 (Pins 8, 10)? How do disable serial console mode (had to do this in raspbian)? How do I disable RTS and CTS using parameters? I will donate $20 as soon as a UART connection is made.

Now that xradio has been enabled on kernel 6.x, I'm ready to upgrade my Orange Pi Zero that I've been keeping on 23.02 with kernel 5.x. With armbian-config I've unfrozen kernel/firmware updates and after apt upgrade and reboot I am on kernel 6.1.53 and wifi is working! But boot message says I'm still on 23.02, and apt says that armbian-bsp-cli-orangepizero is being kept back. Now trying: $ sudo apt install armbian-bsp-cli-orangepizero [...] Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been mo…

Hello! I bought an Orange Pi PC about two years ago which is still working perfectly to this day (very happy with it), but I am curious to know what would be considered the 'best' Single Board Computer at this time point time, which would be around the same price range ($15 USD). 'Best' being defined as having a decent processor, and good software support - which the Orange Pi PC eventually did. I'm tempted to just buy another one of these for another project, but interested to know. Again, the main factor is price - $15 USD or less would be ideal.

Hi, I'm having encountering the above errors, it is persistent with every boot. It occured both on buster and on buster-minimal. Note that specifically the micrel kmod fails verification, but because it shares a signature with many (all?) kmods, I assume it applies for them all. See output of dmesg below. I guess my application is IOT - I am getting data via USB and SPI, report status via GPIO LEDs and upload data to the internet. I am enjoying raspberrypi 3B but it's huge and relatively expensive. I am trying to return Orange Pi 2G IOT since it's a disaster. Looks like Orange Pi Zero for a bit under $20 would not be a disaster? Are there other boards to consider if I care about physical size and price?

Hi everybody With freshly installed armbian (commit id: d9fb61be0) I created a new uboot config file: ./compile.sh uboot-config BOARD=orangepizeroplus BRANCH=current SHARE_LOG=yes This creates the file: ./output/defconfig-uboot-orangepizeroplus-current But the command: ./compile.sh uboot BOARD=orangepizeroplus BRANCH=current SHARE_LOG=yes does not compile uboot, it just touches ./output/debs/linux-u-boot-orangepizeroplus-current_26.11.0-trunk_arm64__2026.07-*.deb file. Do I miss something? Do I have to copy the file ./output/defconfig-uboot-orangepizeroplus-current to a place in ./userpatches? …

Do you guys think/know if this would work on a Orange pi. https://github.com/riptidewave93/RFLED-Server It seems to be written in golang, I don't know how is it with the gpio's if stuff is written in golang. Well here its UART stuff actually but you get the picture..

Greetings, I'm attempting to apply a custom patch during the build process for a bananapi-m2-zero. (specifically, DTS changes) I went into the kernel source, and created a diff, and put it in the user customized patches directory. Unfortunately, the patch failed. So, I dug into it, and discovered the source changes because of patches in the armbian patches/ directory. So, instead I started the build, let these patches apply,, and aborted the build. Then I created the diff again. Sadly, the patch is still being rejected. Now, I might be able to fight with this, and make it work. But the next time I pull a new update it could be broken a…

I am looking for alternative working image, better than on official web pages. I know story about Allwinner and its software support but do you know smthing alternative working image? Hi all, I have a strange problem, when I make any file system changes, I can count to 10, pull out the power, and my changes are lost. My application sometimes requires changing of a settings file, and then quickish disconnection of power by the user (I know its not good, but it's a fact of the product) My current solution is to flush the write cache when I save the settings, I forget the command name, but that isn't ideal as other changes such as logging is lost. I'm using the armbian debian release at the moment. How can I change this write-cache timing to something like 2 seconds? Also, is this an SD-card technology issue or will the issue…

Hello. I use Retrorange Pi on Orange pi pc+ and the kernel includes a uinput module for implementing console utility management from the gamepad. Unfortunately, in this 5.3.0-dev-rc8 core, the CPU temperature information does not work. I switched kernel to 5.4.20-current via armbian-config. In this kernel, the cpu temp readings work, but unfortunately, there is no uinput in the modules. Can I somehow build this module separately for 5.4.20-current without recompiling the entire kernel? Or is it possible for respected developers to re-enable the module in future kernel releases? With best regards, Sergey

Hello. I have a task: «Find fail-safety, high stability SBC device, which can work 24/7/365» For the past year I have been monitoring for 30 Orange PI PC2 device`s in different locations. As result - device is deadlock, green diode is lighting, only reboot can help; -reboot (no any error`s in logs, just information about booting, just like device was rebooted) On this moment I split up into three groups: Group A: Error not happen, or less, then 1/60 days (25% of all my device) Group B: E…

My OPi Zero is not accessible via SSH after installing the new supported image Armbian 22.02 Jammy. After the install, the device is up and ping-able. Any attempt to SSH in with `ssh root@<ip-address>` ends in a `ssh: connect to host 192.168.88.9 port 22: Connection timed out` error. When I reboot the board and try again, it's still the same issue. A ping with `ping 192.168.88.9` works. For completeness, I tried also with the edge instead of the current jammy image. Same error.

First off this is not a Rockpro64 it is a Rock64 Ver. 2 which the tags field would not let me enter. A couple years ago when I first started playing with the Rock64, I briefly used armbian as the OS. The flickering video was annoying so later I tried Manjaro which worked fairly well. Recently the (Manjaro/Arch) updates (as well as latest images) completely break the HDMI output. Since the system was rendered usless, I downloaded the latest Armbian Jammy hoping for better results. The image loaded from SD fine, I did updates manually fine, and it rebooted fine. The only problem I experience is that that anoying HDMI video flicker. It's worse when there is any s…

Just installed Armbian_21.05.1_Orangepipc2_buster_current_5.10.34 plus kernel headers and am now trying to build some kernel modules for it on the device itself, but the build script is complaining: File not found: /lib/modules/5.10.34-sunxi64/build/.config at ./scripts/make_kconfig.pl line 33, <IN> line 4. Is there any place where I can find this file for the stock kernel? Or a procedure for generating it myself? Many thanks.

A few weeks ago I installed the minimal Armbian Bookworm image on a Odroid M1. The installed kernel was 6.6.31 The current minimal version for this board is 24.5.3 with kernel 6.6.36 After running apt update and apt dist-upgrade the kernel updated to version 6.6.32 which was build more then one month ago. I also used armbian-config to update the firmware in hopes that this covers the kernel as well but I am still stuck with the old kernel. What am I doing wrong? And how can I actually update the entire software, including the kernel to the most recent release without manually reinstallig the entire system?

Hi, Now that I have my NanoPC-T4 working with hardware 3D acceleration, 1080p video playback, full development environment on NVMe, Think it's time for a backup. Has anyone found a usefull utility ? Or should I just use dd to dump the eMMC partions to image files on a USB attached drive and rsync to backup the NVMe the the same ? I'd imagine to restore just boot from an install image, don't install, just dd the images to their repective eMMC partitions and rysnc to restore. Has anyone had to restore a board and how well did your solution work for you ?

Hello, initially, I would like to thank the Armbian project for making many of these SBCs that aren't so common usable with such a good distribution. I'm using a Banana Pi M2 Zero, and the manufacturer provided Android image didn't boot at all and I got concerned I had a brick. However, Armbian has multiple images for this board available and, right now, this board is running Armbian 21.08.6 Focal using the kernel Linux 5.10.60-sunxi. The performance difference compared to a Raspberry Pi Zero is dramatic. And it even has a Mali 400! Step by step, I'm getting more features on the board working, either by reading Armbian documentation or user contributions. From…

Hello everyone I have a problem with icecast because I can't get the let's encrypt ssl certificate to work. I have followed several tutorials online, but in the end they were all the same, so I explain what I am doing, to see if someone tells me where I am wrong. I have created a script to concatenate certificates, change ownership and permissions, so that I can run it with cron along with the let's encrypt certbot. Here the script ---------------------- #!/bin/bash cat /etc/letsencrypt/live/radio.example.org/cert.pem \ /etc/letsencrypt/live/radio.example.org/privkey.pem \ > /usr/share/icecast2/icecast.pem chown icecast2.icecast /usr/s…

Hello everyone, I'm creating my coursework project and I should create my own C++ library for easier GPIO usage. I'm struggling with using epoll in my code, because it doesn't register edge events, that I specified. Hi guys, I am trying to use TP-Link dongle WN722N v3 as an access point . I am using Nano Pi Neo Core EMMC with expansion board running Armbian Buster with Linux 5.3.9-sunxi . Hi guy's, trying to get my hdmi screen to work on some board (not really relevant but board is orangepi on and lcd is "7inch hdmi lcd (c), usb capacitive touch screen, 1024x600, rev 2.1" - the box it came in states brand is "waveshare") with armbian and I'm having issues. I don't care too much of getting screen to work "ideally", having txt console working is all I need. When I turn the board on I see everything properly, background is, as expected black, letters are white + some colors, it starts the booting process, looks for mmc controller, ethernet etc etc.. then it finds the kernel and start loading it and then - puf, the screen is gone... depending on what h3disp op…

Hello, as i didn't found a perfect UI for my cubie and me and i always liked the look and feel of crunchbang, i developed a little script in the past to bring #! to my cubietruck. It should also work on every other debian based image, but i mainly targeted igor's image since it seemed to be the best base to start from. NOTICE: crunchbang has EOL-status, no updates coming from them! I mainly use it even though, because its very fast and stable on my cubie. This script could be injected into building process or can be run on a fresh 'install'. Just use the get_crunchy.sh script and relax or download the image from second post. It's tested on debian jessie and wheezy…

I use this method and it works like a charm: void setup(){ pinMode(0,INPUT); pinMode(1,INPUT); } void loop(){ } Just upload this code, and connect GND to GND, TX to RX and RX to TX, then connect your Arduino to your computer, it will get a name like COM3, connect that com port, and you're in! You can also use PuTTY for connecting to the com port. Spoiler

The only link I found with armbian in it contained some very obscure editting of some configuration files (just like many proposed Windows solutions). The issue: where does it go wrong? The problem is some configuration clutter somewhere in /usr/lib/firef…

Hi, I downloaded Armbian 4.14.14 and I installed it on my Banana PI. Then I configured it to act as Gateway/Firewall. Hello, I'm picking up my pine64 SBC for the first time in a long while. I want to have an always-on linux system for some home projects and this board ought to work nicely as I don't need any desktop running on it. Looking over the OS images available I decided to give opensuse a try; got it installed and running with no trouble. But it seems the 1.344GHz max speed of the board can't be enabled on this build, as the scaling_max_freq is set to 1.152GHz and no amount of "cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand -u 1344000" will convince it to go above 1.152GHz. I can go lower, just not higher. pine64:~ # cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand -u 1104000 Setting cpu: 0…

Usually, when I configure SBC devices (in particular headless as the OPI Zero), what I do is to disable NetworkManager (even uninstalling it) and to provide a basic standard configuration on /etc/network/interfaces. However, I am noticing that the NetworkManager it is becoming more and more interleaved on the standard Linux configuration (as it is happening with systemd). In fact, my thought is that NetworkManager it is more a desktop thing than a server one. My question is: What is the right method to configure static servers, having unmovable IP addresses, routes and these types of things, with current and future Armbian releases? If it is nec…

I have been using my OPi 5 for several months with Armbian on my NVMe ssd. I decided to shift my SSDs around, and removed the one that was in my OPi5 and put in a new one. I burned the latest Armbian 23.8 Bookworm Cinnamon dated Aug 31, 2023 using BalenaEtcher onto an SD card, put it in the OPi5, and it booted fine. I did apt update and upgrade, no problems. This week I installed Armbian on three BananaPi M5s. The OS ran fine from SD card, but once installed to emmc (using armbian-config) the system booted with a message that the file space available was zero. In the case of one of the boards I found an 8GB .img file in /media/my userid/. I assumed it was a copy of the 8GB SD card, and I deleted it. The system is fine now. But in the case of the other two I have yet to determine what is consumbing all the file space. There are two empty directoris in /media (mmcboot and mmcroot). Any idea what is causing this and more importantly how to fix the two existing systems? Thanks, Paul

Hi there, I am new to the community, but read it for quite a while. I try to bring my own smart mirror project to life. So far everything runs good and I am pretty impressed with all the efforts you guys put into Armbian. There is one little thing that I can't solve my own (due to limited coding capabilities). The supported resolutions doesn't offer the one supported by my 10,1" Tontec display. It is connected via HDMI and offer a resolution of 1280 x 800px. Where 1280 x 720px work it stretches the content, which makes small copy unreadable. I found several threads where users discussed about this resolution. Would it be possible to make this reso…
