I made a custom A20 board of which sch is very close to lime2 for a project (retrostone2) and I can't use USB0 as a classic USB port. The three USB (0 1 2) are all connected to regular USB type A connectors. No OTG used. However I can't get the USB0 to work. USB1 and USB2 works without issue. But USB0 will not recognize keyboard/any peripheral. I think it's probably because of OTG detect pins. I looked at the DTS, but I am having trouble understanding how OTG is emplemented there, how to unactivate it and just activate a classic USB port. Any ideas?

Armbian makes setting up an AP incredibly easy- I'm also enjoying NetworkManager, which I've stayed away from on my desktops until I started development with OPi Zero/Armbian Buster. I'm looking for an automatic, effective way to switch between my AP and a configured wireless network. If the wireless network is not available, I'd like the AP hot spot to run- if the wireless network is available, I'd like to automatically connect and not use the AP. Is anyone aware of a way, possibly even a simple script available that will run @ startup? Thanks- ACR

After a long time not using my cubietruck i decided to install the new Armbian Buster to it. I installed the xfce gui and now the gui is very very slow. If i move a window it tooks about 1-3 seconds till i see its moved. Complete gui is very juddery. The Task manager in debian buster shows the cpu and memory is not always on 100% although xfce is very slow. How can i fix this? Can it be cause i use a few years old 64gb samsung micro sd? If it's because the cubietruck is too old and slow can you recommend another newer much faster system?

Hello. I've installed the newest Armbian Bionic Ubuntu with the Desktop on my Cubietruck. In the past i had Debian Wheezy running on it with working remote desktop connection over Windows 10 (sesman-xvnc). Now with the new Ubuntu i cant connect anymore to my Cubietruck. If i open the Remote Desktop Tool on Windows 10 i get a connection to my Cubietruck and i can see the login Screen. But there is no more an option (sesman-xvnc). I can only see (xvnc). If i connect through this option i can login to my cubietruck. If login is successful i see only an empty desktop without elements and without a background-image. How can i solve this issue? I have installed…

Hello everyone, i'm currently running a Nanopi M4 on Armbian 4.4.190-rk3399 with a DVBSky S960 DVB-S tuner. I always compiled the modules "dvb_usb_dvbsky", "m88ds3103", "ts2020" and "dvb_usb_v2" manually to enable support on Armbian. But since the upgrade to 4.4.190-rk3399, every time I try load the module "dvb_usb_dvbsky" I get a segmentation fault and my board completely locks up. I really have no clue what to do and would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance! Different trusted USB wifi modules are available at https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo/ , but my concern is trying to choose between different wireless modes such as 802.11 b or 802.11 n for example and type of wireless connection as access point or ad-hoc. through iw command you might be able to switch between modes and types of wireless connection but it is also related to the usb WIFI module whether it allows such an operation or not ! already purchased a usb wifi module (but not of the trusted ones) and it did not allow me to choose between modes but was able to choose ad-hoc. so does any of these https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo/ usb WIFI modules …

Hi! I just wanted to ask if somebody knows if the accuracy of the internal temperature sensor (A20 Chip) is defined somewhere? Hello everyone. We have checked the forum extensively but have not found a good answer to our problem. Our system is based on a Orange Pi Zero Plus (512 MB), and it is running nicely. However, after some time, (10 - 15 days from the last boot) or /tmp directory gets full and most of the system is not operational. Only solution we have found for the moment is rebooting the system. This is the output of df -h in one of our systems which only shows 7% usage. This usage figure increases day by day. Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 174M 0 174M 0% /dev tmpfs 49M 5…

I remember trying to install a usb wifi dongle in the past and while it gave me lots of headaches, i did manage to make it work. It's been a while since i used wifi (it's been a while since i used the SBC too to be honest). Today i decided to power it up at least just to update it. I have an Odroid-C1+ running some version of Armbian (I forget the details, exactly) - it's been happily working for a while, but recently that board went dead. I finally got a serial console on it, and captured the output below. Pretty clearly, something is wrong, and it being a cheap flash card, I bet the card itself is going bad. My real question: does anyone have a good suggestion how I can recover anything there is to recover from the SD card before setting up a new one? It's been long enough since I set up this device that I'd prefer not to start from scratch if I can avoid it. I'm not much of a Linux guy (usually NetBSD/MacOS), but I do have a U…

Good morning everyone. I have two nano Pi Neo Core boards and one Nano Pi Neo Core 2 Board. On all boards there is a glitch. When I play the audio file at the beginning and at the end, I hear a click. I think it's because of the DAC's on / off switch. Also, at the beginning of playback, the initial sound is lost for about one second. I did echo -1 > /sys/devices/platform/soc/1c22c00.codec/cdc/pmdown_time The initial and final pulses (clicks) disappeared. But there are still small impulses at the beginning and at the end of the playback. There are also small pulses between file playback. For example: aplay file1.wav file2.wav DAPM? How disable it? …

Hi, I just got my Orange Pi Zero for a Pihole. Running with a quality PSU and a SanDisk Ultra 16GB A1 card. Everything went perfectly fine, Pihole is the DNS for LAN, while my router handles WAN DNS (DNS over TLS with Cloudflare). I'm concerned a little bit about logging. What do you recommend to keep the sd card safe. I think Pihole is logging to /var/log/ whete running for less than 24 hours I have pihole.log 3MB size, with pihole.log.1 around 2MB. Is there a way to use log2ram for this or a good practice of log rotation, writing to RAM, etc? Your help is welcome!

before I used the -f option with h3disp, the framebuffer would always take the same size as the display resolution I'm setting. However, since I used the -f option once, if I now use h3disp without the -f option, the framebuffer size remains locked to what I had set before, even if the display resolution changes as requested. How can I set it back so that the framebuffer always takes the proper size when I use h3disp even without the -f option?

Most of the time our Arm computer does nothing and the CPU is around 40º, and therefore no fan is needed. But sometimes they work a lot and the fan is really necessary. So I wonder if a 5V fan connected to the gpio pins can be used and that the same board sends power to the fan when for example the CPU exceeds 60 °. And below 60º the orangepi that cuts the current to the fan. Can it be done without external components?

I went into a problem after setting up mariadb / nextcloud installation nativ on my armbian installation odroid n2. per default the logfiles for mariadb (bin files) are logged to /var/log which is only 50 mb because of in memory usage (zram). So after some usage the whole installation stucked because of "out of disk usage" in /var/log. So I stopped nginx, php and mariadb and created a new logfile location in /var/log.mariadb and changed the necessary entries in /etc/mysql/my.conf and started the necessary services again. For now the usage is propper again in /var/log. Maybe this is useful for other people or other had another solution for this. …

I see that there are three Armbian supported boards that have mpci (Clearfog, Espressobin, OrangePi 3, did I miss any?) but several boards that DON'T have mpci on them note that they support mpci 4g modem?? (Download Pages, Supported Hardware) Are you using some kind of hardware like this? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EMIOBD2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And from what I see, the only board that has a SIM slot is the Clearfog Pro, how are you reading the SIM on boards with mpci and no SIM socket. Or does someone knows a newer armbian image for my BPI-R1 ? Regards Wolli

In the notes for the current Buster download, the mac assigned on first boot is supposed to be recorded in the /boot/uEnv.txt. However no such file is in the /boot directory. Do I need to create this file, and make the appropriate entry myself, or is the assigned address stored else where? Thanks for your time. William.

Hi everyone, I'm using a Nanopi NEO2 as a NAS (link : https://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=222) and it's provided with an armbian jessie version. I did try to upgrade to Stretch but I was missing some repositories. Now I'm trying to install a fresh Armbian Stretch version but on first boot SSH is not enabled. How can I configure armbian ? I cannot connect keyboard/screen. Maybe there is another way to do it ? Other armbian/debian images ? Does anyone have a solution ?

Hi, I have just changed from a custom legacy kernel to armbian and like the experience. I use the Logitech Media Server and squeezelite, mainly to play radio on the armbian box itself as well as on a Squeezebox Radio I still have. This works in principle, but using the spdif optical output, I get an interrupt every minute or so of about half a second. Is this common and do I need to install something in addition to use the spdif output? Dear colleagues! I think many of us are trying to use SBC boards with Armbian as server, control units etc. How do you handle instant power OFF, due to power loss, for example. I am thinking about small UPS development, it will contain battery for 30 seconds of Orange Pi Pc+ operation and set Orange Pi I/O as signal for correct shutdown. But is it actually needed? I keep switching my Orange power OFF from AC adapter instead of shutting down for 1 year and still no problem there.

I had a hard time to figure out how to set the input pull-up on GPIO 1 of the NanoPi neo2. In the end it appeared to be extremely simple, but in order to help other beginners I like to share how I accomplished it. 1) I created a dts file with the input pull-up definition for GPIO 1 2) I compiled the dts with the "armbian-add-overlay" tool 3) rebooted the NanoPi Neo2 That's it. The dts file can be placed anywhere on the Nanopi Neo2 eg. /home/pi/sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo2-pullup.dts nano /home/pi/sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo2-pullup.dts The content of sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo2-pullup.dts looks like this: /dts-v1/; …

Hi, all: I wonder if there is a manual to DIRECTLY build Linux Kernel (Say, current version 5.0.9) against any board, as far as uname -a is known ? I am trying to remove a USB DBV-T receiver from the craptop to a less noisy Orange PI Zero (OPI0). I had to compile tvheadend and some modules but when I playback video I noticed that the output stalls (using the Ethernet, not the crappy WiFi). After checking a lot of things, I noticed that CPU usage was high (because of something else) so I bumped the governor up to performance from on demand. I stopped everything and retested by switching between ondemand and performance governors every 30 seconds. During the 30 seconds I noticied continuity errors only during the 30 seconds of ondemand. Is there a problem with the ondemand governor? …

Hi guys, the history before: I ordered 2x OrangePi3 and got them at 29/07/2019. The 1st one I've unpacked could not be flashed to another Operating System. Neither the images of the developer worked nor the armbian. I figured out, that the HDMI port and the SD card reader is buggy at that 1st device. Today I unpacked the 2nd OrangePI3 and armbian booted easily and rapidly into the SD card OS. I was able to flash the eMMC with armbian and I am happy, but not with the 1st one of OPI3. I hope that the manufacturer in china will exchange the buggy OPI3 for a working other one. To cut a long story short, the a…

I used armbian-config to install remote desktop service on an Odroid C2. Works great. When I add a user via command line (adduser), when they log in they get messages for authentication for network services. I also note it doesn't show the XFCE splash screens like the original user does. It can't browse anything on the wifi network but it can get through on the ethernet network. I assume I haven't added the user to the proper groups - can someone tell me what groups, or if I'm barking up the wrong tree?

Currently I have a Tinkerboard S and due to lack of USB WiFi support (Tinkerboard only has 2.4ghz, but 5ghz is necessary), I need another OS or SBC. Support for CSI camera is also required. I've installed Armbian on TinkerBoard and read a couple of threads on this forum. It looks like there is no CSI support for the Tinkerboard and there is no CSI camera support coming (couldn't get the camera to work on Armbian). The Rockchip on the Tinkerboard has the advantage of H264 encoding and very useful. There are other SBC boards with dual band and Rockchip (different Rockchip than the Tinkerboard), like the RockPi or the RockPro, but I can't really find out if the C…

Hi, I'm not sure if Debian mainline supports this, but I can't get TV out on this board working after it starts the kernel. The boot loader shows up, but as soon as the message "starting kernel" or something, pops up, the signal cuts out. I've tried changing the boot.cmd, but it doesn't make much difference. I've seen suggestions to break into the u-boot console, but the keyboard doesn't work there. I'm afraid it works only in serial mode. Any ideas? Thanks!

Good evening All. I was wondering what is the best method to use an Armbian sd card born for an H3 based board on another board with the same SoC, e.g. Orange Pi 2 image on Orange Pi Lite. With old 3.x kernel it was super easy, just replace the fex file and that's it. Overlays confuse me a fair bit, and the best method I found until now is to specify in armbianEnv.txt the row fdtfile=sun8i-h3-orangepi-lite.dtb to use a sdcard loaded with an Orange Pi 2 image in my Orange Pi Lite. But I cannot find where the board is defined, could anyone point me in the right direction? Best Regards. Christian

A while back, I noticed that Armbian was compatible with this Ugreen GbE adapter. As I purchase on eBay rather than Amazon, I found the above one plus this adapter, which has the same AX88179 chipset plus a built-in 3-port USB3-Hub. So I decided to try it and see if it worked with Armbian and report back here. (I'm using the EspressoBIN for this and Ubuntu Bionic 4.19.56). These are my results: Straight out-of-the-box, I can see it using LSUSB, but it does not plug-and-play-work. After struggling and attempting to get the network manager to do something about it, I added this line to /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules: SUBSY…
