Hello, I'm trying to find out how to use a 1.5 Inch RGB OLED Display that uses the SSD1351 IC on a NanoPi M4 however I don't seem to be able to turn on the SPI. Hi, currently I have armbian installed on an SD-Card with kernel 3.4.112-sun7i on Banana Pi. I'd like to test how armbian works installed on SATA with vanilla-kernel. Therefore I would install armbian (Vanilla) on SATA. Switching between both systems would then require a shutdown, exchange of SD-Card and startup the system again. Since i am a lazy person I'd like to know whether it is possible to use the SD-Card with 3.4.112 and just exchange the folder /boot with the one from the SD-Card I installed armbian-Vanilla on SATA (to avoid standing up, walking to the banana pi which is located in another room, exchanging the SD-Card, rebooting, walking back and sitting …

Hi all I would like to start this topic to discuss on the best approach for having some degree of data integrity using ARM SBC (aarch64 SoC in primis) My goal is to set a big archive, I have in program to build 5x8TB HD, scheme TBD The goal is to have at least one hard drive failure tolerance, it is acceptable that some data is lost during rebuild, since the main goal of the archive is to store picture and video, so it is tolerable that few pictures or video get corrupted, but the rebuild shall not stop in this case The write performances are not so important, but read performances shall sustain some video streaming, roughly at least 25 Mbytes/s M…

Hello. I've received a SATA to USB 3.0 adapter from the Pine64 store. The problem is than the adapter is not fully SAT compliant, so hdparm doesn't work with it. It is described better in this post. And there's an updated firmware for the JMS578 chip which fixes this issue. However, it was made for another device (Odroid HC1), not the device I have. Is it safe to use this firmware in my adapter? Or maybe there's even more fresh firmware exists for JMS578 chips?

Hello, I have been trying to get back to a working nanopc-t4. I'm traveling with an almost worthless computer since I accidently let armbian update itself. The next few days I have access to a TV. To get my screen to work I convert the - media - version to support dtb overlays, the build the driver and overlay. This needs the build in the modules to be present. Using uname -r gives me this path. usr/lib/modules/6.2.0-rc8-media/build I can install Linux headers through armbian-config. That does nothing for allowing make in the modules which is what I need. What am I missing and how do I get…

Hey folks, I'm looking to build a little portable server to hold a local mirror of my cloud drive and run a light-duty testing server for medium-weight web apps (Django, big PHP blobs, etc). 2GB RAM, SATA support, and fanless are critical, USB 3.0 and GPIO ready to go with no soldering a big plus. I'm planning to get a 500GB SSD and use an Alfa AWUS036ACH 802.11ac USB dongle. Box will run headless except for configuration. I was looking at the EspressoBin but kernel support appears to still be incomplete and there isn't that big of a userbase. I also don't need two of the Ethernet ports on that board. I've looked around and it seems the combo of >1GB RAM + …

I am struggling to make an external RTC work. "i2cdetect -y 7" reports that RTC at address 68 is alive. I have added in the following lines: echo ds1307 0x68 > /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-7/new_device hwclock -f /dev/rtc -s Could be a possible reason that hwclock is already linked with internal RTC? So I've had an odroid C2 running Armbian for the past couple of years without a hitch. Today however, when I try to login to my box either remotely or directly, I'm greeted with a login screen. Hello, I'm pretty new to configuring networks completely with /etc/network/interfaces and have my problems with understanding how to set up my ports adequately. I've been having a recent issue over the last couple months where my ArmbianEvn.txt file is being overwritten thus causing Helios to hang in the boot process. Using some samples i've found on these forums, I was able to re-create my file and get the Helios back up and running and have since stored a copy so that when it happens, I can just copy and paste and back up running in no time. To date, i've had this happen to me 4 times. I'm not worried about having go through this at this point in time, but I was curious if anyone else has seen this issue or not? Hi guys! I understood yesterday that the Raspberry Pi 3 is limited to only 2-channel 16-bit PCM audio over HDMI by its ALSA driver. Therefore I'm now looking for another board capable of at least outputting 6x 24-bit LPCM 48 kHz channels. My goal is to build a software DSP, processing multi-channel audio recorded from an USB audio interface. The idea is to capture a home-cinema receiver pre-outs, mix and apply biquads for crossover with the sub and speaker tuning, then handle the clock difference between input and output. A couple threads mention difficulties with 24-bit audio, on legacy kernel and over I2S, where the user Christos observed issues. Do…

Yes, I managed to do this. Luckily I managed to re-enable the GDM3 graphical console on-start-up by using the debug serial port and then using the GUI through the TV to put the tick back to enable networking. Yep, very much a noob mistake. So, the question is when networking is disabled so eth0 and wlan0 disappear, leaving only lo, how do I get eth0 and wlan0 back just using the command line? I can't easily find how to do this. I've looked, I've searched and now .... help! :-) (I do also have the ability to put the MicroSD card into my laptop, so maybe it would be simpler to do that and change some configuration files to re-enable networking?) …

I just installed armbian buster on my NAS (odroid HC2). Everything works perfectly. However, as debian bullseye has become stable and I expect this to happen for armbian also in the near future, I am thinking about how to do the upgrade. Armbian build: Armbian_23.8.1_Bananapim2zero_bookworm_current_6.1.47 Hardware: BananaPi M2 Zero I am using pure CLI environment, and when the output is on screen I can't really tell what is the resolution or the refresh, but the monitor is 1080p@60 and it seems to be matching. Although when I run apps that use SDL2 for example; the resolution is changed, and I tried to set a fixed resolution but there seems to be no way to do so in Armbian. I changed the boot settings and those are correctly set with 1080p@60; then I tried to use xrandr (I have X11 installed as I have SDL2 installed too), and it says "can't open display" (I assume …

Hi everyone, I'm very new to Armbian Linux. I'm about to acquire Orange Pi Zero 2W for my audio project. I have read some of the forum posts related to the SOC's native I2S, and I'd like to know if those problems mentioned in the posts have been resolved in the new kernel? Meaning that users don't have to write and compile their own device tree overlay and kernel mode driver? My project require a full duplex I2S with the CODEC as the master. Nothing fancy, just 2 channels in and 2 channels out. Hope someone can help clear the doubts so that I know for sure I will not be buying what I can not use. Thanks

Hi, When I format my hard drive and I want to make partitions, just / for the system and Swap partition, Gparted only allows me to make one, saying I only can make one primary partition, so I make one for / (in this step extended and logical options are disabled) Then I want to use the free space for swap and all options are disabled, not even logical or extended partition options. and from the beginning I only can chose logical partition because extended is disabled. So it looks Gparted only allows me to use the entire disk as logical partition. If I use another app in windows to make those partitions then in linux Gparted says there is one error and it can't …

Hi, I got a problem with orange pi zero and audio record latency. What I try to do is to record the audio on orange pi zero, send data to my phone and play it here, but the delay is big(around ~1-1.5s) that's is quite a lot. I've tested it for a few days now and I am sure the delay is on the device. What is interesting sending audio the other way(phone->orange pi zero) has no delay at all(~0.1s). First I tried to use Qt(5.9) and QAudioInput, now I switched to alsa libraries but no results. I also tried to use command line to check this arecord | aplay but still I can hear the delay. Is there any way to decrease the latency? …

One of my students told me Armbian no longer accepts donations. Indeed, I see a 'Subscriptions' section, but no longer a Donations link. It's been a while since I looked. When 'subscribing' I guess one could uncheck the automatic renewal, but would that cause trouble for Armbian expecting continuing income? Or should one make the subscription and then cancel? I always encourage my students to support Armbian. I have no clue how many actually have, but feedback is that they would like to make a one-time donation and not a 'subscription.' I dig the subscription idea, but I think Armbian should also have a one time donation link even if it only gets …

I have a Banana PI M2 Zero that I am using to run a 3D printer. Unfortunately the USB port puts out 5V, which I need to disable. Is there any way to do this by editing a file or using a script? There are cases where it might be useful but I'd rather have it off permanently if thats the only choice.

Using Orange Pi zero Revision 1.5 loaded with Armbian Buster 21.08 ArmbianMonitor Logs: http://ix.io/3UXu The board is reporting very low temperatures, with htop and when I ssh on the login banner. Hey everyone, I'm eyeing the Orange Pi 6 Plus for some edge AI projects, given its 12-core CIX SoC, up to 28.8 TOPS NPU, and massive RAM options (16/32/64GB LPDDR5). Has anyone gotten Ollama running on it with NPU acceleration? Does it support it out of the box, or do you need to convert models (e.g., to INT4/INT8 formats) using custom tools like rkllama or similar? Additionally, with the higher RAM, can it handle bigger LLMs (like 13B+ models) more smoothly than lower-spec SBCs? Any benchmarks or tips on setups (e.g., Ubuntu/Debian installs, frameworks like MLC-LLM)? I'd love to hear real-world experiences—thanks!

Hi, I am not sure but it maybe a bug in the script. After starting device from SD card (it is visible as /dev/mmcblk0 device) I have /etc/fstab as following: root@orangepiplus:/etc# cat fstab /dev/mmcblk0p1 / ext4 defaults,noatime,nodiratime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro 0 1 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults, nosuid 0 0 /var/swap none swap sw 0 0 Then I run nand-sata-install script. Dear all, I'm using Armbian_5.25_Pine64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.104_desktop. The default display resolution of 720p60 is working fine. When I change to full hd with 1080p60 it's working fine. But when I change to 2160p30 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt it isn't working. Even the eth0 isn't working any more, i.e. the LEDs are not blinking and I couldn't connect to the system any more (additional to the fact that the monitor connected to hdmi is also dark). Has anybody been successful with pine64 and 4K with that image or another desktop image? Best regards, Willy P.S.: I also did the FastEthernet fix "ethtool -s e…

I have some DYI idea to make some custom ODBII Logger using SBC with Armbian. So I'm searching for suitable SBC: - quite small (50x50mm max), IoT category I think - with H3, at least 512MB RAM - eMMC at least 4GB, SD Cards support - 1 USB for pendrive - wifi in AP mode, just for ssh and copying small files via scp - second UART, freen 2xGPIO, and nice to have audio line-out also - and the most important: running Armbian in headless mode with booting from eMMC - working DVFS to keep temperature in lower levels, no heat dissipation problems (SBC will mostly work with low cpu usage, but I don't really know how low can be CPU/DRAM clock…

Hey folks, The tl;dr version of my question is "is there a way to stop tmpfs from being used for things like /tmp, /run, etc.?" Essentially I have an OPi Zero running PiAware and graphs1090. Graphs1090 is throwing a bunch of images into a folder under /run, which is causing the amount of free space to drop below 16M. As a result, systemctl refuses to restart some services because there isn't enough free space on /run. So...is there a way to disable the use of tmpfs for folders like /run or /tmp? Honestly, I'd rather just take the hit to the SD card rather have to deal with issues like this.

Not related to armbian distribution, just curious. I googled but had no luck to find an answer. For Allwinner SoCs, there is FEL boot tool to download bootloader, kernel and initramfs to ram and to boot the system directly, without writing those stuff onto flash storage and performing a reset; I wonder whether there is a tool to achieve the same function for rockchip SoCs? or we could modify the usbplug and rkdeveloptool to implement the function? or there are any limitations to prevent it? any comments or advices?

Upgrading to the latest Armbian build 5.15.25 on the M2-Zero has caused the camera to stop working. Hello, dear armbian community. Hi all, digging into the Orange Pi 6 Plus specs for a potential build. Can anyone confirm the M.2 slots (the two Key-M 2280 ones) are PCIe Gen 4 with x4 lanes each? Official docs mention NVMe support but are light on details. I'm curious if this could handle a low-end GPU like an RX 570 (or even lower) through an NVMe-to-PCIe adapter/riser—thinking for light gaming or compute tasks. Has anyone tried eGPU setups on this board or similar ARM SBCs? What about power delivery, drivers, and performance? Running Linux (Ubuntu/Debian probably). Thanks for any insights or benchmarks!

Hi, I'm trying to boot a legacy 3.4 kernel using the current Armbian U-Boot but progress stops after U-Boot starts the kernel. The last line displayed is "Starting kernel ...". I believe the kernel (uImage) is being loaded at 0x48000000 and the script.bin is being loaded at 0x43000000. These values seem correct to me. Does anybody know if booting these old kernels is still supported with newer U-Boot ? I'd like to have one U-Boot that can handle both old and new. Thanks, Steven

I'm building a multi-zone music streaming setup built around an SBCs running Snapcast/MPD and this MA12070P board (AliExpress link).
