I have done some things with the 3D printer and planned to design a box for the OPZ. Before to do this, I tried a search on thingiverse and found some boxes! So right now I am printing... Err, no in fact my wife is printing, she is the 3D printer boss... On the top we have a thingiverse OPZ box https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1986658 On the left this is a box for 16x2 LCD http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:614241 On the right this is box for OPZ + PCM2704 DAC

Hi Experts, I was using Armbian image (Armbian_5.24_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie_3.4.113.img) on orange pi zero without any issue for 3-4 weeks. I connected a speaker to LINEOUTL and suddenly my Armbian image became very unstable during boot it hangs at random places and some time crashes. May I know if Armbian Images on orange pi zero tested successfully (booting process) when LINEOUTL is connected to a speaker ?

My Samsung EVO 16 Gb SD card is dead. But in place of reporting errors, becoming inaccessible or anything, it just refuse to update content without reporting error. So I was able to flash an install image for my nanopi, verify that it contained a fs with an armbian distribution (because it was the previous content) and try to boot/install. I lost a huge amount of time to understand what was wrong : I tried to boot and FA neo board with a BPIm2+ uboot and kernel. I don't even know is the board has survived ...

In case anyone wants to use Netatalk with Armbian, I'd like to let you know how I succeeded. For a long time, I've wanted to run netatalk on a Linux box. Even though it always built, I could never connect/log in. Today I tried building it on Armbian (CubieBoard2 is the host), and it was very easy to get it to work. I basically followed the official HowTo. -But with some modification for the ./configure line. I got an error when using --without-tdb and --without-libevent, so I decided to remove --without-tdb and then do a sudo apt-get install libevent-dev. I also had problems with the spo…

I've seen TKaiser make reference to different SOC's as good, bad, etc. and was wondering if there is any info available on the forum about the different SOC's. The good, the bad, the ugly, etc. would be really good. I've gotten several boards, but later I found the armbian site, and the forum where I've seen bad comments about different SOC's. I might be looking for a new board to play with in the future, and knowing which SOC is good, or bad would be really nice to know before starting the research on the next pi like device.

Hi all, first post here. Im Ivan, its nice to meet. So i finally came to install Debian Jessie stable, and it's good to be back. My installation is brand new and i have not a wired connection avalaible, so ill have to make things works nowired. As the title say, my card is an Intel i217-V, which in the beginning was not recognized at all by the OS. That was normal and expected, because in the installation phase Debian told that i was missing firmware files named rtlwifi/rtl8821aefw.bin. After a few search i came to download from windows (im in a dual boot system) the following packages: firmware-iwlwifi_0.43_all.deb and firmware-realtek_0.43_all.deb. I also installed …

"Eventually..."???? How about WiFi on OPi0 first, or is that too much? Plus would this eventual Uboot on SPI eliminate the need for SD cards? Why not urge Xunlong for eMMC as for other boards?

Hi. Sorry if this is not the best place, I couldn't figure out where to put this. I wanted to download Cubieboard 2 image but all the links I get redirected to lead to 404 (all are linked to v5.24 images). I tried a few others, where Cubieboard (A10) has the same problem while Olimex Lime A10 images download fine. I didn't look at most other boards but I assume some other might be having the same problem.

I think I made a perfect device for people who have problems with SD cards on H3 Orange Pi or similar Allwinner based boards. Or for people who just hate the SD cards Why using a SD card if you can use your favorite USB flash drive instead with a small addon board that can be attached to the "RPi compatible" pin header? hi all i had armbian build running with 'dev' kernel (4.9.0) and armbian 5.24 which worked PERFECT over a month. decided 2 days ago to build from scratch, armbian build system pulled all latest updates and i got 5.24 with kernel 4.9.3 (2 days ago) and 4.9.4 today. None of those would boot properly (ie. can not ping/access the board). I also tried downloading nightly build and that one is not working any more. Iknow these builds are not supported but since it worked very well i think something got broken either in kernel or uboot or in armbian so might be worth a look. tx in advance !

Hi Experts, I am using Armbian on Orange Pi Zero and image is working fine and we can access armbian console withe the three pins next to ethernet port. However we see that there are Rx, Tx pin on 26 pin header compatible to Raspberry pi. When we connect the console to the GND/Rx/Tx on 26 pin header we do not get console so my understanding is that there is a dedicated serial port for console that can be accessed from GND/Rx/Tx next to ethernet port and Serial port on Tx/Rx pins on 26 pin header is different. We need extra serial port to connect our UART based peripheral. So I am wondering if I can use the Rx/Tx/GND on 26 pin header, if yes how do I use them …

So I see lots of comments re how bad the A64 and H5 SBCs are. Is anyone having good luck with any ARMv8 system? I will note that I had decent stability using the Odroid C2 with Hardkernel's own images, which run 64-bit mode. But maybe something better has emerged?

As I do not have any Intel based system, and I'd like to buid Armbian, my options are fairly limited. I have a PowerBook G4, but I can't build the Linaro toolchain there, because it requires autogen, which needs guile, which won't build due to undefined symbols. However, the Linaro toolchain builds on my Cubieboard2. I've read a little about how to build Armbian, and to me it looks a bit complicated (I'm used to building stuff myself, I've just never built an entire Linux system before). -So why is it necessary (or recommended) to use a virtual machine for building ? -Is it just to get a "clean system" before building, does it have to do with "cleanup" after…

I guess everyone knows that downloading distros in general takes a lot of bandwidth, same with armbian even thought the armbian distro i only a couple of hundreds of MB. so beside offering direct download why not start using p2p downloads like ubuntu and other distros do already in order to save bandwidth. We can use the openbittorrent.com public tracker - i already have a cubietruck which is powered 24/7 for my p2p needs so i would mind sharing some armbian distros via p2p. What do you guys think ?

Hello, after I've read the NAS topic ( http://linux-sunxi.org/Sunxi_devices_as_NAS) and the importance of random I/O performance in the SD card made by tkaiser. I'm here to ask what board can you advise for: During day-time: stream box w/ kodi (resolution 1080) if possible without laggy use During night: running daemon of torrent e.g Trasmission (or NAS server) Never happen that both activities are made in same time. I think that for night-time use it would be recommend use a internal hard disk attached to a SATA port. I don't need high performance of trasmitting data because internet speed here is only ADSL 12Mbps download and 0.8Mbps Upload. The only thing is not …

IMHO, XR819 is killing the OPi0 golden goose...All else looks so perfect for the price ! Can't they just go back to RTL8189 in the next couple production batches? Will that make life easier? Ironic to hear that XR819 has its own ARM core- what good is the core? What is the prospect of Xunlong offering a eMMC 4-8GB version of OPi0? SD cards are expensive and unreliable, plus can add an SD card drive for more memory. And adding a power barrel to the $2 expansion board that is otherwise just what is needed, maybe make it $2.50? My take: OPi0 v2 512MB, say $12-15, with RTL8189, 4-8 GB eMMC + $2.50 expansion board adding power barrel + Armbian OS = market winn…

Hi, I use Banana Pro (armbian installed). I have no problem at all after installing Armbian. Previous OS was Raspbian and it was slow for homeserver ops. (I thing GUI was default). Nowadays, looking for a new but fast SBC. I am not interested in any video applications and components and such as Kodi, XMBC, H.265, 1080p, high resolution. I will not use it as desktop. İt will serve only for my home network for DLNA server, DHCP server, Web proxy (like Squid), web filtering (SquidGuard), torrent ops. and web reporting (w/ Apache or any other). Especially web browsing is a little bit slower over Squid and Squidguard. İf this is CPU, memory or any kind source issue, …

This post is to share my successful webcam installation with Armbian and one of my SBC’s (orange pi plus). I’ve used a Logitech C270 which can be purchased from eBay for roughly 20 Euros. Also el-cheapo shops like lightinthebox sell the C270. Benefit of such a cam is that you now have a cable from your SBC to your cam which makes (physical) cam installation easier IMHO. Also IMHO the C270 is a better camera than the famous GC2035, but it is also more expensive. Price / 'bang for the buck' ratio is more or less the same for both camera’s if you ask me. You get what you pay for. Enough talk now: the installation All I did was a fresh Armbian desktop v5.20 …

I have recently stumbled upon an #armbian channel at FreeNode and noticed that there is a small, but growing, Armbian user community gathering there. It doesn’t seem any developers are there, but since the number of participants has already in double digits, it is fair to say that it is at least an unofficial Armbian user channel. In case you are an IRC person, you are hereby kindly invited to join our idle chatter at: irc://freenode.net/#armbian NB: The forums are still the official communication channel and I made sure to include that in the channel’s topic.

Hi, I am completely newbie here, so apologize if my question is stupid... I am planning to buy a board to build a wireless print server. what I need my board to have is wireless connection and a Linux distribution capable of running cups, and a USB port. I think Orange Pi Zero fits my needs with a good price, BUT it does not come with any video output option built-in. My question is: if I buy Orange Pi Zero, and "burn" the armbian OS to SD card using my laptop, would I be able to configure ethernet and/or wifi network from my laptop, changing the network configuration files inside the SD card, and then boot the Pi board and have it connected to my network with…

First and foremost, I appreciate everything I've seen come from Armbian, back from when it was being "hosted on an OrangePi" to update after update of newly released boards to expanding to include this Forum. Thanks, Igor and other contributors. What you're doing is awesome. Anyways, I'm starting to find the Forum to be kind of hard to navigate, threads are pretty jumbled and topics kind of globbed together. I was just wondering why that is, if there's plans to smooth out those edges, etc..? Or is it just me? Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have a medium to go to than nothing at all. Just looking for a little insight into the plans for the look and functionality of thi…

Hi everyone, we have a new forum set up at orangepi.club now, since the original one runs as if it was run on a OPi One while compiling 5 kernels at the same time, and its mostly broken too (login for example) The new forum is not supposed to be a replacement for this forum, just a place to have a general chat about all systems, not only Armbian. I hope its a good place to post it. Also, if you are a creator of a distro, you can be a moderator for the distribution category. I am not a part of the administration, i am just telling you guys about it, so we get people to know this forum and actually use it, because its better. -moondeck

Hey, just wondering if this is a common issue, I've put a fresh copy of Armbian 5.20 (legacy kernel) on my new Evo Plus 64GB and updated it to 5.23 on my Orange Pi PC, but it seems I'm getting only 742KB/s 4k random write speeds (I thought it'd be around 2MB/s) and 5 to 10MB/s sequential write speed. Is this normal, and if so is there a better card to buy that'll give me more Random IO & saturate the write speeds of the bus on the Opi PC? The results from testing /dev/mmcblk0p1 (ext4): Data OK: 55.34 GB (116061392 sectors) Data LOST: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors) Average writing speed: 10.05 MB/s Average reading speed: 20.35 MB/s …

I know is a hard-work, maybe due to the "avalanche" of new boards. But I find a little mess in the filter to select boards in the Donwload page based on the availability of OS images. I bought DS1307 RTC but it is 5V so it can't be connected to the Pi. I know it can be modified to use 3.3V by removing 2 resistors. This sensor is different than the adafruit kit so I am not sure which resistors to remove. It also has 2 sets of pins. What are the extra pins for and which should I use and which pins do I remove? Here is the image of the RTC: Here you can see the datasheet for the DS1307 RTC.

Hi, a few months ago I have build a USB to UART "multiplexer" device, to monitor my multiple Orange Pi PC's using only one USB connection to a separate Host [1]. You can connect up to 8 hosts to the device simultaneous. And you can switch between the different inputs. Only one USB connection is needed to your host you want to use as master. A commandline tool is available to control the device. Its also possible to send data through the device to the connected hosts. It works like a normal USB to serial adapter. It is not possible to read the incoming data from all connected hosts simultaneous. I am use it to log the boot process of my cluster nodes [2]…

I would like to consolidate some of my devices into a singular device. I am having trouble coming up with a system which could work. currently my cubietruck crashes all the time, so much that it is now on a 2 hour reboot cycle and still manages to crash. Hi all, This is my first post after reading all the good work this community has done. My goal is to create a cheap cluster of ARM boards. I started with the RPI3 but that's getting expensive real quick and the board isn't that good performance wise. So I started looking for different, cheaper boards but it still wouldn't be cheap enough if you plan to run 30-40 of them. So I started looking at older Smartphones with OpenCL support and came to the Samsung Galaxy S4 (The Exynos version). It is an older phone but once was one of Samsungs flagships and still offers good performance for what I want. I know the Exynos 5410 was used on the Odroid XU, so in my opinio…

This is my first impression with the ov8865, a 8MP sensor running on kernel 3.4.39 (linux-sunxi). I am running Banana Pi - M3 with the dual camera extension on Ubuntu Xenial rootfs and with the stock driver. The driver have not been touched because information is scarce and i asked @lvmc for some datasheet. This sensor is a 4 lane CSI2 (MIPI) that has a good performance at high resolution. I am able to get 30 FPS on all available win sizes. I have ran a small v4l2 application to have some benchmarks but guvcview with some minor update is able to display video from the sensor just as we have for the ov5640: TEST 0 ( 3264 x 2448 ) ---- cap parameters ----- width: 3…

Hello! I ordered RTL8188E usb wifi dongle and could not get it to work. I already try few methods that google throw at me. So far without success. Can someone point me to step by step instructions that would help me? I am using USB wifi RTL8188E dongle + OrangePi One /w Armbian. lsusb shows "0179 Realtek coorportation" ifconfig do shows only eth0 and no wifi. Can someone explain me, what I need to do, to use wifi with this wonderful arm PC? P.S. I am not very good at Debian or any other linux distro.

*editing because i didn't see the documentation* Proper security practices should result in the page that tells you what key to download being https, instead of http where anyone could theoretically easily modify the key ID and thus your download would appear to verify fine. Its 2016 guys, pretty much any server cpu comes with crypt acceleration it isn't that resource intensive.

I am trying to use a DHT21 with a Lamobo R1 aka Banana PI R1 to read temperature and humidity, with Armbian/Jessie and a 4.5.2 kernel. A Lamobo R1 is basically an A20 board raspberry pi compatible, with an inverted compatible raspberry pi v2 bus. I have setup it up in GPIO5, raspberry pin compatible 24, WirinPi 5, physical pin 18, according to a table here, plus the GND and +5V pins. I tried to read the temperature and humidity with and without the recommended resistor. While the temperature is reading fine, and is also corroborated by a DS18b20 sensor connected to GPIO2, which indicates the setup is fine, the humidity is always at 99.9%. I have installed the WiringPi…

Hi, Just joined to say thanks to all to those that are involved in the development of Armbian. I recently bought an Orange Pi PC after reading the internet full of people bitching about non-booting devices, HDMI issues, overheating and general crapness. Decided to buy a Orange Pi PC nonetheless, found an old crap micro SD card, burnt Armbian (the internet has made it clear to not bother with the crap on the official Orange Pi website!) onto it and the thing booted without any issues! Typing this message from it as we speak in Iceweasel! The thing only cost me 9 quid, so decided to donate what I would have wasted in cash on a Raspberry Pi 3 (which is anything b…

Hi, my Cubieboard 1 was burned, so I'm looking for next board. What I need: - ownCloud (newer had yet); - MPD; - spdif; - SATA (alternatively via USB?); - maybe simple www server. I don't need video , but I would like to connect some extra modules, like nRF24L01 radio via SPI or alphanumeric LCD via IIC etc. Odroid C2 is powerful, but without SPI, SATA and audio outputs. So maybe C1+? A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 is OK, but Allwinner again... What else? And the most important thing: Armbian:)

Hello Armbians, I am a newbie here so maybe this topic has been already discussed, if so just point me to it. Thank you. I have several TP Link routers (MR-3020, MR3420) that I would like to play with, especially usin serial connection. Since I am also a newbie in this area too I would like to know if it is possible to use Orange Pi Pc board or any other Orange board to connect to those routers separately without buying those little usb to uart ttl adapters. And if it is possible, which pins from Orange board to use, those 3 TTL pins or the others from the GPIO row. Thank you

EDIT: The tutorial below is based on outdated instructions. With the most recent Raspbian images the same is possible with less efforts using the g_ether module. All details here: https://gist.github.com/gbaman/975e2db164b3ca2b51ae11e45e8fd40a Today arrived both a RPI 3 and a RPi Zero. I want to use the latter to confirm some consumption measurements we're currently doing to prepare Armbian low-power (or IoT) settings for a couple of boards (see here and here for details) To my surprise I wasn't able to login to RPi Zero without soldering wires or GPIO header since I've no Micro-HDMI cable/adapter, my only Micro-USB adapter is a 90° one preventing to power the bo…

I recently came by a NanoPi M2, (1gb DDR) http://nanopi.io/nanopi-m2.html http://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=107 its still in its box with case etc. If you are interested in supporting or just seeing if armbian works on it let me know. Hey I managed to get the WiringOP libraries to build with the Python WiringPi libraries on my OPI One. I wrote up a quick gist and made a dinky fork to save some people some time: Orange PI WiringPi-Python Gist PS: Igor, TKaiser, and other contributors. Armbian is a really great distro. I'm very grateful for all your hard work.

Hello. Browsing through my email i note something from long forgotten, useless http://forum.banana-pi.org. It's about some new images they "release" like: BPI-R1 new image:raspbian-jessie-bpi-m1-m1p-r1.img 2016-07-13 BPI-R1 new image:ubuntu-mate-16.04-desktop-armhf-raspberry-pi-bpi-m1-m1p-r1-sd-emmc 2016-07-21 or BPI-R1 new image: Kanux-Beta-3.3.0-preview-bpi-m1-m1p-r1.img 2016-07-15 There is a note - "kernel 3.4.112 (based on armbian's build)", so hem, congratulations i guess. Looks like you guys are official support for team bpi now .

Tried with other files from the opi web page and the same SD-card, it is booting ... Any ideas? BR Pulpataro

Hi, I have some Siemens s7-1200 plc 's at a remote site and I need a client application to read (only) from the plc registers (Mostly DB200) and tiger an alarm that will send an email. For the moment I use an ewon router for remote communication and also read from the registers, tiger alarms and send emails. I know that Snap7 is working on ARM (e.g. cubietruck) with Siemens s7-1200 plc 's, so If someone is able write an application (at a logical cost) i would be interested to pay for it. I prefer the application to be compatible with amrbian on olinuxino. Set up of armbian with watchdog and smtp server would be also appreciated.

Hi, maybe this is a dumb question, but here goes. How does including a signed .asc file in the 7zip archive verify the integrity of the whole archive? I mean, couldn't a bad guy just copy the .asc file into a new archive?

Unix/MacOS tools to write images to SD cards: the usual dd dc3dd & dcfldd are improved forks of dd dcfldd has also a nice "on the fly" hashing mechanism (so to avoid complex md5 or sha*) but it has many options so it is a bit complicated to use (see). I am often using dc3dd on Debian like systems because you can see realtime the % of the processing and you may leave dc3dd to manage buffering & doing the hashing on the fly: sudo apt-get install dc3dd sudo dc3dd if=Image.bin of=/dev/sdX sudo dc3dd verb=on hash=md5 if=Image.bin of=/dev/sdX hof=sdX_output.md5 Prior to dc3dd, I was using "pv" (but "pv" has some delayed display because it is linked to the pip…

Here is the Guvcview for Orange PI (H3) if you want to watch your CMOS camera in action. Current version is 2.0.2.1. You can try to build it from source (https://github.com/avafinger/guvcview) or wait for the DEB packages if you find it useful.

Hi guys, do you know some article about how to run DHT11 or DHT22 sensors on Banana Pi? I have one sensor bmp180 on I2C bus and reading temperature and barometric pressure was quite easy but this is different bus and move code from Raspberry needs more effort. Basically I need proper binary able to read from gpio pins and I want to record/show values from this sensor on Rpi Monitor. If somebody have previous experiences with that and want to share them I will be very appreciated.

I just updated the fswebcam code on github so you are able to set Exposure, Vflip and Hflip contols using command line if you don't want to mess with kernel side. Grab the code: git clone https://github.com/avafinger/fswebcam cd fswebcam ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-v4l1 --enable-32bit-buffer make sudo make install Some command line samples: fswebcam --Vflip 1 -r 1600x1200 -p YUV420P - > cam1600x1200_2.jpg fswebcam --Hflip 1 -r 800x600 -p YUV420P - > cam800x600_1.jpg fswebcam --exposure 4 -r 640x480 -p YUV420P - > cam640x480_1.jpg Exposure = [-4 to 4] Vflip = [0,1] - Flip image Vertically Hflip = [0,1] - Filp image Horizontally Enjoy
