The nice dashboard screenshot above is used by @Fourdee to explain why DietPi is superiour to Armbian: 'With #DietPi, logs and DietPi scripts are mounted to RAM , this reduces SD card write operations vastly' -- while I don't understand the purpose to 'mount scripts to RAM' of course the idea to cache logs into RAM is great! That's why Armbian does it since 2014 already. While the above 'proof' is somewhat questionable (watching a 5 min period in a dashboard and once there's activity in one graph taking a screenshot with numbers without meaning) let's look into what makes DietPi that superiour compared to Armbian since it's always a great idea to improve even …

good day dear friends, well sure i know this is theoretically a bit difficult, but I dare to ask: what are the possible ways to connect an internal 3.5'' SATA HDD to the board (let's say i want to use a 1TB)? Let's ignore the need for additional power. i want to add a good power supply unit: So that i have enough power. What about the ways and options to connect a HDD. What is aimed: I want to make a box like a Network Attached Storage - a NAS - that contains the board and the HDD internally, so the trivial "plug to USB connector" is excluded. How can I do this? first approach: Well - i guess that the only way is to use a sata…

Just to have some sort of comparison to x86 based SBC I benchmarked my UP Board (lying in the drawer for years) right now: As can be seen the Intel Atom x5-Z8300 CPU will be outperformed by an RK3399 or even an el cheapo NanoPi Fire3 pretty easily: https://github.com/ThomasKaiser/sbc-bench/blob/master/Results.md Onboard eMMC performance (16GB on my model) also not that impressive (random IO ok, but sequential write performance below SD card level at just ~20 MB/s): Internal 32 GB eMMC random random kB reclen write rewrite read reread read write 102400 4…

By comparing https://github.com/friendlyarm/linux/blob/sunxi-4.14.y/arch/arm/boot/dts/sun8i-h3-nanopi-duo2.dts and https://github.com/friendlyarm/linux/blob/sunxi-4.14.y/arch/arm/boot/dts/sun8i-h2-plus-nanopi-duo.dts the only real difference is replacing the crappy XR819 Wi-Fi with RTL8189 (the other change being H2+ being replaced by H3) NanoPi Hero also features RTL8189 Wi-Fi, is limited to Fast Ethernet and has an I2C accessible voltage regulator allowing the board to clock at up to 1368 MHz (at 1.4V VDD_CPUX): https://github.com/friendlyarm/linux/blob/sunxi-4.14.y/arch/arm/boot/dts/sun8i-h3-nanopi-hero.dts Maybe @mindee is so kind to provide an…

Hi guys I have no time to test performace between armbian, retrorangepi and h3droid, does some one test the same app on the three system, does it run the same? I have now an armbian with kodi and retroarch that i'm using for test, but I'm planning to move to a more TV friendly OS as retrorangepi or h3droid. the main problem is Netflix, I should go for h3droid only for netflix app, but I want to be sure that retrorangepi and kodi works the same as on armbian/retrorangepi. and that the temps are the same. Can you help me if you had some experience? PS I know that I could run netflix on kodi but I didn't tested it. thank you in advance

Yes. Cubieboard 1 I am doing various testings on OS level to find bugs related to last changes and I wanted to see how current latest Armbian assembly works on an older, officially unsupported, board, which we usually don't use any more. Especially not for a desktop replacement. It's more like a joke but let's look how a single core single board computer from 2012 actually performs: Armbianmonitor: http://ix.io/18QM Booting full featured XFCE desktop: (real-time) Spoiler Writing and printing a document (slow typing due to crippled keyboard) Spoiler …

I'd like to migrate from SD card Samsung Evo+ to something more durable (I'm running home assistant automation on OPI PC now, mariadb, influx, etc, many writes per minute). I think that I have only two options: go with SBC with EMMC or just buy cheap 32/64 GB SSD with USB adapter. What do you think, which option gives me better durability? Can I assume that EMMC is really durable comparing to SD card? Is USB 2.0 adapter as fast as EMMC?

Hi guys, I'd like to install an heatsink on my OPi1. 'cause on summer ambient temps are too high... Can I install an heatsink taken from a mobo chipset on the OPi1? the heatsink is bigger than the h3 cpu, it cover either the cpu and the ram, does this (one heatsink for ram and cpu) will be bad for temp? If I want, instead, buy an heatsink for h3, 14mm or 15mm? ceramic, copper or aluminium? thank you so much

Hardkernel team released ubuntu 18.04 mate 1.20.1 for odroid c1, c2, and XU4, on kernels respectively 3.10, 3.16, 4.14. Let's say that the C2 odroid still works. but ubuntu 18/04 at 3.10 C1, with heavy MATE 1.20 it does not really work. It's a misunderstanding. First of all there are problems with graphics and where the rest. Bows to Igor. -)

I just pay attention. XFCE4 and third software eg chromium in debian 9 has more errors than in ubuntu 18.04. These are errors unrelated to the armbian. Quite simply, the debian developers probably do not test their packages as accurately as ubuntu. These are the dissapearing clocks XFCE panel, the lack of the chromium minimization button, the synaptic correction not working in the search option, and so on. They do not matter to you, but they are important when used by ordinary users in production. I see that you have a lot of images doing Debian 9. If you can already consider doing images ubuntu 18.04. Ubuntu is also faster than debian 9, really feel the difference.

Is there a good resource for what's currently being developed by the major SBC manufacturers? I am curious about what is being developed and when it is coming out. I'm thinking about expanding my cluster by another 10 or 20 nodes but I don't want to invest now if something great is going to be released soon. I am most interested in FriendlyARM and OrangePi boards as they seem to have a good performance/value ratio around the $35 price point but I am interested in what all major manufacturers are doing. Is there anywhere to read about development? Or is anyone here privy to what's next for low cost ARM based SBCs?

This is rather a general question and thus I post here. If not, I am hoping any mod here will kindly move it to a more proper sub forum. I am wondering if ARMbian does support any Android devices based on an MT6582 (4-core 1.3 GHz) CPU. This CPU is mainly used on either an Android smartphone or tablet/phablet. I sure would like to try ARMbian on my tablet with an MT6582 CPU. Anyone?

Hi there, I've been contacted by KoVu Inc. regarding their RK3328 "SwiftBoard", which should be a great candidate for NAS applications. Any thoughts? https://www.board-db.org/news/2018/01/08/kovu-swiftboard-data-nas-single-board-computer-sata-hdmi-2-0-emmc-gbe-android-armbian-openmediavault/ P.S.: I should receive a sample of this board in the next weeks, if you're interested in further updates. Cheers!

Hi, as I have trouble with aging SDCards, I was thinking of getting a new SBC with eMMC (I already have Odroid XU4, but it's not cheap). I'm pretty happy with OrangePi Zero, but would love to find a SBC with a 64bits SoC, Gigabit Ethernet, 1GB of RAM (as 512MB implies swapping for my use case) and eMMC. OrangePi have the 3G-IOT (which is only 512MB) and 4G-IOT, but they are not supported, and I don't fancy all the gizmos that are on these boards. NanoPi M1+ almost fits the bill, but it's a 32bits SoC. NanoPi K1+ is almost perfect, but it's pricey (and has 2GB of RAM, which would not be a problem if it was cheaper). Any suggestion? …

I was thinking about buying small handheld with keyboard that could be used for small linux terminal, for some quick administrative & diagnostic work (login here, login there, put some commands, see webpage for help, etc). Something inexpensive with small qwerty keyboard. Something like PocketCHIP or this DYI on RPI http://www.3ders.org/articles/20170409-zero-terminal-raspberry-pi-device-is-a-diy-handheld-linux-pc-in-a-3d-printed-case.html Has anyone found or did such a thing? I wonder if I could use OPI/NanoPi/similar with 5-7 inch LCD (3:2 screen would be best IMHO), keyboard and LiPo battery from mobile, put it into 3-D printed case and run Armbian Desktop

Hi to all, I have a OPi One and I just have a question: I'd like to use it as mediacenter but als like retroconsole. So, my doubt is: 1. do I need to have 2 sd card one with openelec and one with retropie? Or can I have one that do both? I don't know maybe openelec can execute retroarch with lakka gui? I know that I could use armbian with kodi and retroarch installed, but I try to find something that is confortable to use with a tv. 2. this question is related to the previous one: Opi1 has 1 usb port, can I use a normal usb hub or I need to use an hub that has external power? I plan to attach 1 hdd, a wifi key and a bt key. 3. where I could find a list of su…

There is an opensource wm that I'd like to use with Armbian. I have compiled and installed it, but would like to have it as a package. I have forked a repo that makes a .deb of this wm and built it with Shippable (so aarch64). I don't have any Debian mirror to host it... so... What is the standard way to build a package for Armbian? There are also other libraries/tools (like pacman, libarchive) that I have compiled (because I could not find them)... Thanks.

For those of you running a large SBC cluster - what is your solution for powering your boards. I currently have a cluster of 18 boards that I am powering with several multiport usb chargers. My setup does work well but I am looking for alternative solutions. I'm thinking of expanding my cluster to 50 or more boards and I don't like the prospect of purchasing so many of these multiport chargers as they're a little bit expensive. And I also don't know about the long term reliability of my current setup as I have only been going for about 2 months now. I would love to hear about and see other people's SBC cluster powering solutions. EDIT: …

I must admit I don't really know what to do with my sbc's. After getting them set up there is nothing more I could think of to use them for. I guess part of the fun is in getting them set up, and to run them cool during native kernel builds. Just so it's not a complete waste of money, I spent more (though not a lot) to add dual screens to some of them. Any ideas what else I could use them for? I already have music players (a lot of them, DACs), NAS, home control, security camera, what else do you use them for? I haven't left any of them outside in the sun yet to try out solar power. So, I added dual screens to these ones (left to right, counter clockwise)…

I thought of asking here maybe someone can suggest something. So here are the specifications I am looking for: 1- CPU: has a crypto engine/ Security system. Almost all Allwinner Axx and Hx have crypto engines. 2- wireless connectivity Has all or most of the following: WiFi 2.4G, 5GHz and 3G/4G Module if possible. 3- Network connectivity: Has 1000 Mbps Ethernet. 4- USB : At least one A-type USB. While reading the armbian-forum with a tablet using the Chrome-Browser (or other Browser as well) I do miss the header/headlines in portrait-mode I did mark the part - with green retangle - which is visible in landscape-mode, but is missing in portrait-mode. Does anyone else got this problem on a tablet or smartphone? I just released some new code on github to play animated GIF files directly on a Linux framebuffer or SPI LCD (using my SPI_LCD code). It doesn't have any 3rd party dependencies and can easily be made to run on systems with no operating system or file system. This is part of my imaging library that I've been working on for more than 20 years. I'm slowly releasing parts of it as open-source. This code was sliced out of a much larger project which supports a whole bunch of image formats. https://github.com/bitbank2/gif_play Comments/feedback welcome.

Today's project is trying to get my game emulator to run on the NanoPi NEO Core board. Lots of exposed I/O, but I'm getting random hangs and some odd behavior with the latest Armbian. In the photo is a ILI9342 (landscape version) 2.3" display and some ugly protoboards I created to allow reliable wiring + sockets for the Core board. I just updated my SPI_LCD project to include support for both the ILI9342 and the Core board's strange header: https://github.com/bitbank2/SPI_LCD I had to wire the USB-A socket to the header because the OTG port is not properly enabled (in the available Armbian build). If I spent some time messing with it, there's probably a bunch …

Yes - I'm here flailing about for clues (like person who can't swim in deep end of pool :-) ). I know, this is more of an Orange Pi/ I2C_sunxi thing, but OPI and Armbian go together, so... I have an oscilloscope that shows I2C-0 putting out clock bits with my LDC1314's '2A' address data just fine - up to the ninth clock. On the ninth clock - which follows clocks for bits 6,5,4,3,2,1,0,R/W - and should be where the slave responds with the ACK/NACK bit, the SDA line goes to 1/2Vcc - like the master is fighting the slave. It's like the device is trying its best to pull it low for an ACK, but the Master (OPI pin PA12) is not letting go. I have a pictur…

should we move this to one to: https://forum.armbian.com/forum/31-sd-card-and-power-supply/ as a pinned thread? Actually I think it should be 'saved' somewhere due to it explains the reasons and opinions why Armbian recommends to use Etcher and I think it would fit best there. It might be good to have this somewhere where it doesn't get lost due to new threads showing up. only recommend a tool which validates the Image after burning.. And at the moment, only etcher seems to do this.

I needed a small zero cross detector to switch SSR's efficiently and properly in my DIY reflow oven so I designed these in KiCad, and built them. They are optically isolated (5000V Isolation) and Low power (less than 120mW) so are safe to hook up to any board supported by Armbian (or any other SBC) (provided you safely wired them to the mains) and produce a nice open drain low going pulse for 1ms (50Hz AC) centred dead around zero cross. (about 0.83ms for 60Hz AC). On the digital side they will interface to any logic level between 1.8V and 5V. The thing is I only need 2, and I have spares because I had to get 10 PCB's minimum. I have decided to build them…

I would like to discuss the subject of failure and SBC systems of various brands. I just broke the Nanopi T2 module. I also had a damaged module of orangepi 2 and orange pi RK 3399. I have an ASUS Tinkerboard and I have been using Armbian 18.04, but I would like to know if there is a way to install the Ubuntu-Mate desktop? I tried the following after a fresh install of Armbian 18.04 and before I did anything else. I did not install any desktop from armbian-config. sudo apt update sudo apt install tasksel sudo apt install ubunutu-mate-desktop And while this looked promising and went through the motions (and it took forever), in the end it did not work. I only had the command prompt. Again I did not run anything from armbian-config yet. Thoughts on how to make this work? I assume it is possible. Thanks.

Do any of you ever conformal coat your SBC's with clear nail polish or polyurethane to protect it from moisture to prevent corrosion? Hello all. I'm looking into enlarging my SBC collection. I'm mainly looking for a board that is power efficient, has got a fast cpu, and at least 2GB of RAM. This for 1080p video rendering with powerbanks, so power efficiency is very important. I'm now looking into the NanoPC-T3+ since it's an Octa core with 2GB of ram. (or the BPi M3?) Does anyone have got experience with this board in LINUX? I see there's an Armbian in testing. How far is this? Is there hardware video acceleration? Does the cpu perform as promised? What is the power consumption on it? I bought the Khadas Vim2 Max for this. But it doesn't perform well at all. It should replace my Odroid…

I want to build a project for a USB camera with motion software detection and autonomous power. I have some difficulties to find clear information regarding the consumption of the different Orange Pi boards. And I'm not sure to choose model Zero, I96, Lite, or perhaps another one My project includes: - power bank: already I have one with 20.000 mah (5v/1-2A) - usb camera: I have one camera low resolution, which I believe is better to get a lower consumption - one physical switch: to shutdown gracefully, and avoid the SD corruption before the battery is exhausted I have seen there is some code for the switch in the Zero board, although I ignore i…

Hi - I flashed a new nanopineo2 with debian9 ( Armbian_5.44.180510_Nanopineo2_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.40 ) and set this to stable build before updating to latest "stable". Next step after reboot is to configure my static network ( eth0 ), but here things tend to be a bit different than previous flash ? Previously in advanced I edited /etc/network/interfaces to add my DNS-servers but in this build it seems " Network is managed by NetworkManager " so I instea I used " nmtui " to set these for "Wired Connection 1". Hi, I want to build cluster with ubuntu for my bioinformatics calculations and maybe for webserver. I didn't do anything like that earlier, so I want you all to be kind xD Here is what i have: > 5x orange pi one plus (every opi with heatsinks) > NAS expansion (for disk minissd or HDD) > tp-link switch with 8 ports (tp-link tl-sf1008d, im afraid it will be to slow for this, but i can change it later) > AC DC Power Adapter 5V / 10A Charger Transformer ( for Opi's) - with splitter > 2 port usb charger for NAS and switch (cause of i cant find power supply for all of opis with switch and NAS - im bad at electronics) > ethernet cab…

Hi, UPDATE 26 of May 2018: minor text for better reading, Document section added tools, repository idea SITUATION: In our "day to day" exchange on Armbian we are probably to close to look at it the way it looks for a firsttime visitor. Many members of the community have seen that as well and wrote about it in the Forum - but they didn't come up with a solution. Now, neither do I have a solution nor do I have nice document, but I think we need to set some standard pillars of FOSS projects in order to overcome some of our well known problems. For the ones who joined armbian a while ago (me for example May 2015) have read about missing dev…

I wrote a blog post about speeding up drawing on the SSD1306 display by bit-banging the I2C protocol. The code is for Arduino, but it has useful info about my iterative process of optimizing code that some of you may find interesting: https://bitbanksoftware.blogspot.com/2018/05/fast-ssd1306-oled-drawing-with-i2c-bit.html

I reported the armbian to the linux distrowatch portal. The rankings are raspian and bananian and there is no armbian. www.distrowatch.com sent to .: jsmith@distrowatch.com https://www.armbian.com/ Hello Why this distribution is not in the rankings ? They have existed since 2013 the best linux distribution for single board computers... You rank raspbian and you dont rank armbian ????? best regards RADEK FROM POLAND

Why dont you provide support to the Banana pi single boards ? Many of them very interesting. Support is also very weak and short. I know that the last 2 boards from bananpi were based on mediatek and realtek CPU. ( R2 W2 ) They was specialized single boards as router and storage NAS board. why not to try?

Need a little help. What board do you guys recommend for multi-room audio? What a need: - Something small like OPI zero or a bit bigger (that's the space i have inside the wall) - I2S for connecting a DAC - Onboard WiFi - Maybe a Micro and onboad flash I have an OPI Zero but it has no I2S The only ones that i know are C.H.I.P and and nanopi Air

This seems to be a interesting project for some of the SBCs which are supported ba armbian. Maybe its - in some parts - also a "inspiration" for armbian? Shedbuilt A rickety GNU/Linux Distribution for ARM Devices Long-story short You can build an entire operating system capable of communicating over the Internet, playing games, and robots, from scratch on a computer that costs less than a well-optioned burrito. Here's an admittedly over-the-top and entertainment-focused video that demonstrates what Shedbuilt is caple of on sub-$10 devices, using only open-source software: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS9DArYH6WI …

Hi, I have a question regarding standard DNS server entry in resolv.conf: The Google DNS 8.8.8.8 is at the top followed by the one supplied by my DHCP service. That way the Google server will be queried first, which I think is wrong, considering privacy implications. Why is it hardcoded anyway? As I understand it, it comes from /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head? this should not include anything. Would be nice If somebody could clarify why it is implemented that way. Thanx

Hi there, I'm looking for a replacement for my NanoPi NEO (512M) fleet. I'm open to your suggestions. Things I do **not** like about NanoPi: * Unreliable Ethernet. A network interface is flipping all the time Up/Down. * 512 MB is not enough for a tor relay * Hardware watchdog does not work reliably. It works in synthetic tests but sometimes a board just freezes. Things I like about NanoPi: * Armbian support * Price * Size/form factor * Performance * Heat dissipation * Ethernet tap My use cases: * Tor router * Home DNS server * Monitoring server Prometheus for my SBCs and network equipment.

Hi all. I've finished my review video about the Banana Pi M2 Zero. I talk about Armbian a bit. If anyone has got tips and tricks to improve my videos, please let me know. Like : Could I use the same version of 7zip on 32-bit and 64-bit environments? Thank you for all the help. Here's my video. Greetings.

Someone sent a week ago a couple of 2.8" TFT Display ili9341 and asked me to wire it to an H5 and make it work. I had some experience with the ST7789S with Nanopi NEO plus2 and that worked out of the box so i decided to use Nanopi NEO2 as a test bed and used the same wiring scheme. I have managed to wire it and although the FB is created and no error at all but the display is blank (black with no backlight enabled). The frame buffer is filled with information but not displayed. here is the wiring (NEO2): NanoPi Display 19 SPI_MOSI 21 SPI_MISO 23 SPI_CLK 22 LCD_D/C 24 LCD_CS 7 LCD_RESET 11 LED_EN GND VCC (3v3) Kernel 4.…

Hi all o/ I'll be travelling to Canada in a couple of weeks (anyone visiting OpenStack summit in Vancouver?) and I was preparing my shopping cart. To my dismay, Tinker Board is off stock in both US and Canada resellers; I can only find rip-off prices from Marketplace and eBay! Does anyone here knows a reputable vendor where I could buy it sub-USD60? Appreciate any hints!

As I recently wrote I started to use the desktop with armbian. Two obvious missing things puzzle me, but that maybe as not many are using it: xserver restart (ctrl + alt+ backspace) key kombination is missing disabled by default, go to >settings>session & startup>autostart and add: "setxkbmap -option terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp" can this be added into a config file of XFCE as a standard? The other options that are available for setxkbmap "-option X" are determined by /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.lst Text Editior - the only text editor available... LibreOffice Lubuntu - leafpad Geany serves both light weight Editor with an Integrated…

I just received a couple of these inexpensive LCD displays ($1.82 each shipped). They are very low power and look good. I've got them working on Arduino and will now be converting the code to Linux. If anyone is interested in these, let me know. I'll edit this post to add the github link when it's ready.

Hi all. I've seen a lot of questions here about what sbc to buy. So why not put a few links here to my videos about SBC's. The first is my latest video about the desktop experience with the Odroid XU4. This video is about the Rock64(with Armbian) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oX7TabSROw This about the Rasp 3b+ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UbapdFXpqE&t=2s Khadas VIM2 MAX https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ue7mmpVoU&t=188s Asus Tinker Board + Odroid C2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT17hiELHLE I also can use the views. Hi everyone. I'm starting a project to learn about Big Data processing. Roughly, I'll be following the example set by Michael at http://diybigdata.net/odroid-xu4-cluster/ . From other posts he has made, some extra RAM could be useful, so I am interested in the 4GB ROCK64. My basic configuration will be ROCK64/64Gb eMMC/Pine USB3-SATA cable/HDD. I'm looking to buy 4 of these to start the project and do my development and testing before adding extra nodes to the cluster. It seems that the Pine USB-SATA cable performs well, but the SD card reader does not. I'd like to configure remote power cycling using GPIO from a monitoring SBC and a re…

Hello! Firstly, I would like to thank the Armbian devs for their awesome work, without it a lot of my boards would have such a poor support... I am currently doing a school project which involves embedded pentesting, using a drone. I am looking for: the cheapest (we have a limited budget) the most powerful (to use some tools such as password cracking) the most energy efficient (it will running on powerbank/batteries) the lightest and the smallest (to be embedded in a drone) it has to have full size USB ports/OTG/headers (to connect an external powerful WiFi adapter) and if possible, has to have WiFi embedded (we might control …

I just need the ethernet connector. Does anyone know the pin connections to this? It's not marked. The double USB from orange pi zero IO expansion works fine but the audio out is a bit noisy. I had to use a separate audio port. This is one of the few boards with double SPIs and they both work fine. Thanks for the easy user overlay customization support. This is my $7.99 256mb neo core, note there is a chip missing (3rd picture). Starting up in X is slower - it waits for a second or two each time - don't know why, any ideas? It cannot be the swap as I monitored the swap and its only using 125mb. I have the system on the USB …

You may want to try this if your orangepi zero plus with NAS IO expansion combination is running too hot, with Nanopi neo 2 it runs a bit cooler (~ 65 vs 70 in full load). Not sure if it is because of the slower CPU speed or the more exposed heat sink.

Hi, I'm developing a port (or "platform") for the Godot game engine that targets single board computers and I would really appreciate some feedback. I have already posted on reddit, but I got no replies so far: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_devices/comments/8a3to5/godot_export_template_frt_looking_for_feedback/ I was hoping maybe to have better luck posting here. See the reddit post, but essentially I have an executable that you can test (but you can re-create it yourself if you prefer; everything is open source https://github.com/efornara/frt ): https://sourceforge.net/projects/frt/files/demos/093_214_2d_platfo…

Hello, I am wondering if someday tutorials will be made available for ones who like the idea of using single board computers for projects, but have not learned to write their own code. Raspberry has an overabundance of people sharing what they have created [this for example https://tutorials-raspberrypi.com/setup-raspberry-pi-node-js-webserver-control-gpios/] I have made use of what I have searched and found to make my website again [my site], but at least for the computer hosting my relay interface I want to use better boards with more RAM. Should I learn to write some code and get the satisfaction of making it work by myself or should I wait for a future…

Just FYI: the first interesting Banana board since ages: BPi R16 based on Allwinner's A33 SoC (R16 is just a relabeled A33 with a different Allwinner business unit being responsible for). For R16 exists a horribly outdated 'SDK' made by Allwinner's BU5: https://github.com/tinalinux/linux-3.4 (relies on unpatched kernel 3.4.39 which might contain more security flaws than features in the meantime. Their tinalinux approach combines this with an outdated Android 4.4 and somehow also a smelly OpenWRT version for reasons unknown to me. Surprisingly they also rely on their own proprietary LiveSuit image format no one on this planet outside of Allwinner wants to use). …

So i've installed a bigger battery on my cheap A33 tablet. Previously it had a 1700mAh battery (rated for 3000mAh actually) for a 2x1700mAh setup. It works fine and actually works for longer, but the battery percentage is not correct anymore, since it now drops to 5% and stays there for some time until it completely discharges. Does need a special calibration (pmic is AXP223) or will a simple charge/discharge calibrate things ?

Hello All, I was wondering if I could get some help with this project https://github.com/jhdewitt/sltk This is a tool to do structured light 3d scans with a webcam and a projector. Currently the only way that I found to do this is with $1000+ commercial scanner. John De Witt is just a single developer and I am just a tester with limited skills. I currently have the tools compiling now on a s905x box with Armbian on it. I have compiled the tools but i am struggling with helping on the coding part and relaying information effectively and getting them to run properly on other hardware. This tool would bring structur…

Armbian noob here. I am looking for some guidance from the Armbian experts. I am familier with Debian 8 and 9 on x86/adm64 architectures as well as Raspbian on RPi's. Been using Linux off and on for 15 years. Just purchased some Rock64 boards and plan on using them for NextcloudPi, PiVPN, and PiHole. I just saw that Armbian has released a nightly of Debian Stretch for the Rock64. I have downloaded it and gotten it installed. Ran apt-get upgrade/apt-get update and all went well. Does this Armbian image have all the "standard" packages and utilities installed? Are their any other general packages/app that I need for a general server image? An…

Nothing like a good weekend challenge to occupy my inner nerd. I love this web interface NODE JS along with this relay plate RELAY PLATE and have it working with Raspberry PI3, but now I want to take advantage of the additional ram I have with Rock64. The process did not go without a hitch. I list the latest version of NPM in my machine and the web interface is working. I don't think the relays are getting triggered even though I painstakingly crossed the power pinouts and the gpio pinouts. Not sure if this can be adapted or if it has been done before. I am good at following those that know more than me, but do not consider myself knowledgeable enough to blaze new trails.…
