Since yesterday I suffer from very poor performance of forums like very long page loading times. Disabling ipv6 on my devices fixes this. Can somebody confirm this behaviour? If so please state where you are connecting from (country).

HI, sorry if I bother the community so much. Is there a way (I'm sure that is) to setup armbian without DE and without eth connection? I've noticed that I need wired connection to launch armbian-config. Can I do the same with a wifi USB stick? How? If I want to use armbian as wireless AP, do I need to install the DE? Can you guide me? Thank you in advance

I use NANOPI R1 in one of my projects. Now I need to develop a board to make a physical watchdog from NANOPI R1 itself and an RTC (the NANOPI R1 RTC does not work). I have two possibilities: One is to use the already integrated UART, or use a USB - I2C converter. Using the UART I would communicate the NANOPI with a 328P microcontroller, and from there I would collect the RTC information (with i2c between 328P and RTC), in addition to sending the frequent information to the 328P to keep the watchdog active. Using the I2C, the RTC would be connected to the I2C BUS and I would do the direct query via NANOPI R1, as well as send the frequent information via I2C …

Hi, I was just in the armbian matrix channel asking about FLOSS SBCs, SBCs which can be booted / operated without blobs or with as few blobs as possible. I am not one of those purist Stallmanite zealots who refuse to touch anything which i deem imperfect in the freedom department. Instead I am just trying to be practical and figure out whats the best options for SBCs which respect users. SBCs whose security/integrity is verifiable and doesn't hinge on appeals to authority, like "just trust our secret sauce, it will be fine". I want to know about any projects from the past, things that are in progress, and hear experiences from folks who are interested in open s…

Hi, Idea is to run a wireguard server having two ethernet devices, therefore added an USB3 adapter "ASIX AX88179" to my rockpi4a. I like to allow incoming traffic, incl SSH, on "eth1". Instead, outgoing, on eth0 ( RTL8211E ) I wrote following ( preps, nmcli, iptables ) up - but perhaps there is an easier approach and I am sure I am missing other (routing) stuff, for sure the forwarding part. Anyway perhaps there is one to guide me a bit, TiA! 1/ preparations apt update && apt -y upgrade && apt -y install firmware-realtek nano /boot/armbianEnv.txt # add extraargs=n…

This is an improvement over the previous OS called Armbian-Reforged V1.0 - XFCE4 is now the main DE - File Size has been reduced to 2.9Gb This build of TwisterOS Armbian target RK3399 devices supported by Armbian. the only required step after flashing the sd card it's to rename the DTB label inside /boot/armbianEnv.txt to your device DTB (you can find the DTB files on /boot/dtb/rockchip/ folder). after first boot, you should change the default password for user and root with passwd and sudo passwd respectively. Also, remember to resize your sd card/emmc manually from gnome disks to fill your entire disk space. This is a beta and we…

Hi, I added an USB3.0 adapter to my rockpi4a , which results in: " enx000ec667f0a2 " ( eth1 ) Since NetworkManager is being used I tried to update this name using : " nmcli c modify armbian connection.interface-name "eth1" " But alas that does not seem to be picked up while nmconnection config file has been updated: cat /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/armbian.nmconnection [connection] id=armbian uuid=8f61a97c-d0f1-4cb2-be4a-3fe2b4c08e7c type=ethernet interface-name=eth1 <snip snip> Ideally this could be changed in armbian-config, but I realise this is a low-low rockpi-4…

What does determine the software available in softy, found in armbian-config? I easily installed NextCloudPi (ncp) using softy on a Buster based image for the OrangePi4. However it lacked an up to date python version needed for Home Assistant. I reinstalled Armbian using the Focal based image. Sadly softy did not list ncp as an option anymore. So I am a bit puzzled what software to expect from softy. The documentation ( https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Armbian-Config/#software ) did not mention anything about availability.

Hi, New to the forum and armbian but I have several different arm boards. This may have been hashed (rehashed) before but I have a couple of amlogic s912 boards; is there not an official download for them? I saw references to a few one-offs from different people. What is the general opinion of these boards and this chip? Thank you. Best, Chris

Hey all I recently purchased this board and tried both raspbian and Armbian. After using both I have an amazing appreciation for this os. I’m currently running it with the default desktop, I think the only downfall issue I’ve found is the lack of realvnc. I also have a raspberry pi zero w that’s running dietpi with lxde but the bananapi puts it to shame anybody else tried out this combo yet?

Hi, I have been studying Armbian's build script, and I have managed to extrapolate a standalone u-boot build process for my NanoPC-T4 by cherry-picking the relevant commands / patches from the builder repo: https://github.com/tmountain/u-boot-nanopct4 This works well, and it opens the door for additional flexibility for those who need it regarding making the most of their hardware. That said, it raises a few questions. 1) My NanoPC-T4 will not boot without the Armbian patches. The vanilla u-boot does not work out of the box. I reported this issue here, but I'm wondering if the Armbian folks ever try to get patches back into …

Hi! First of all I want to thank the people behind this project, you are doing an excellent job. Second, I am new, like very new to this world of SBCs and Linux, decided to experiment new things while being furloughed from my job, as airline pilot in North America. I bought a Rockpi 4C and at first I installed the image from Radxa and joined their forum, and bumped into an post from Igor in which he suggested to try Armbian because things were more easier, and boy was he right about that?! Yes I flashed Armbian Focal (CLI) to my emmc and armbian-config really does the job.. it makes your like way to easier. The image I flashed was the 20.11.6 Focal…

At first I compiled today armbian buster dev with kernel 5.10.10 and had no chance to connect eth0 nor wlan0 to my network Only a USB-Ethernet did connect instantly via DHCP. I did try to go back to kernel 5.9.1 via armbin-config, because with older installations with kernel 5.9.1 (up to 5.9.5) it did work, but also cant connect via onboard ports But onboard ethernet get a link and did show the right speed and wlan0 is also displaying the available WiFi networks. Next try was to build the armbian buster current (which gave me also kernel 5.10.10) and it also doesnt connect with onboard devices (here not via Network-Manager nor /e…

These days i did install on some devices debian buster (via armbian-build-system generated). On the Orange Pi One this did work also fine with the cpu-temperature (showing via armbianmonitor -m) On a Orange Pi PC2 and a NanoPi K1 Plus this doesnt work. First I did think this is a problem of the dev-image with debian buster where /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp doesnt show an output via cat or more - but its filesize does show a 4096 bytes size (also on a working device - and also rights 444 = rrr for the file): -r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 May 20 10:47 temp BUT NOW after a apt update & apt upgrade I also got thi…

@w0ndersp00n - I moved this here, not to hijack the Mayan thread Building it, sounds a bit similar to here: https://github.com/armbian/autotests After cloning, Igor runs an initial part of the script. Once it configured itself (and you have adjusted the configuration file) you run the script again. A similar approach could be done for DMS Paperless I guess. I agree, Mayan has business like options. Do you want it for business or private use? Not sure what exactly you mean by web-upload, paperless offers: Currently, there are three options: the consumption directory, IMAP (email), and HTTP POST.

You can't read every interesting news blog, annotation etc. about stuff related to tech, linux whatever is in this field. Open a new thread for all those stuff you might share with others here ends that also nobody reads it cause it's spread though various threads. So why not share them all in one thread? Idea: Share a link to the article in this thread with a short teaser what the article is about and maybe some opinions why you like the article. It should not be 'post link only without any description what the article is about'. So, I'll start with the first one (not that recent, but I think it's still worth to read): http://kroah.com…

Hi, I'm new to the SoC / Armbian world, and I'm trying to connect to my NanoPC-T4 via UART (Armbian 20.11.7 Focal with Linux 5.9.14-rockchip64). I'm using an ADAFRUIT Industries 954 USB-to-TTL serial cable. The NanoPC-T4 pin spec indicates SPI1_TXD/UART4_TX(3V) as pin 19, GND as pin 20, and SPI1_RXD/UART4_RX(3V) as pin 21. I have hooked up my ADAFRUIT accordingly with the white receptacle (RX) to pin 19, the black receptacle (GND) to pin 20, and the green receptacle (TX) to pin 21. The full NanoPC-T4 pin spec is here: http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPC-T4. The kernel command line is as follows: [ 0.00…

Hi, I was checking the Rock Pi 4C, because of it’s dual display capabilities (I have two monitors and will like to use them in extended mode) But according to this: https://shop.allnetchina.cn/collections/frontpage/products/rock-pi-4c-board-only-2-4-5ghz-wlan-bluetooth-5-0 a mini DP to HDMI is not supported, both of my monitors are HDMI only. I thought that the conversion was merely hardware. Could someone explain this or give me a recommendation for an ARM board supporting multiple (hdmi) displays? Thanks

Full disclosure: I was one of the winner of a free Station P1 and they ask to provide a few postings about it. So this will be my first one where I unbox it. Funnily I did expect some kind a cardboard box but instead I received a plastic bag. Well, I take it. Within the Fedex bag was another bag from DHL. No idea what happened there... Anyway inside the bubble wrap I found a HDMI cable, a remote control a flyer presenting various products and (finally) a car Apparently I received one of the first products since mine has the serial number 000049 After opening the box I was greeted with the Station…

Hi all. I've always been using the OPi+ as NAS. That gets me up to 13MB/s. More than enough for me. All that is on it are backups, movies and mp3's. It's only got 100Mbps ethernet. And the attached storage devices can't do a lot more either. A USB2 external HDD and a 2.5" HDD. I once tried the same with my OPi+2 and didn't see any changes in network transfer rates. Didn't mind, because I was happy with it. Now I've got the Odroid HC4. Both sata HDDs get +100MB/s read and write. But my network transfer speed is again 13MB/s. I'm using a Gbit router with 5Ghz wifi and the 5Ghz wifi on M4V2. Also OMV on Buster mainline on the HC4 with smb share. For…

Call to Action: Armbian donation round. Dear members of the community, Do you love the armbian OS? Are you frustrated by bugs or problems within armbian? Do you wish that armbian was even better with more releases? If the answer is yes keep reading because there may be a solution. As you know the dedicated team of developers here code this project in their spare time to develop an incredible Linux OS for our ARM devices. They do this for the love of this hobby and we all benefit from it because it is an open source project. One of the hurdles is the fast compiling of the armbian OS. To solve this i…

Hey folks, Wondering if anyone has come across a dual core or better single board computer that has dual native gigabit ethernet? I'm also trying to find something around $50.. so far the best I've found is the: NXP FRDM-LS1012A-PA - $50 which has good BSP and hardware packet accelerator but only single core @ 800 MHz As a last resort, I'm considering the NanoPi Neo4 with a USB to Gigabit ethernet adapter, thats about $75 with heatsink and USB 3.0 to Gigabit adapter.

Nicely they provide arm and arm64 binaries for lazy people

This is using the second ili9341 tiny drm driver (the one not named ili9341) on kernel 5.9.14, running on OrangePi One Plus. Screen seems to be shifted, colors are also off. Seems somewhere in Panfrost it requires the screen to be at least 640 wide and the color depth to be at least 24 or it requires a different set of fonts??? If I disable Panfrost the screen gets back to normal so you can see the whole terminal and the texts are in black instead of yellow and brown. Hello all, I'm relying quite heavily on RSS for my news feed. However I can only see two feeds on the armbian forum: New threads and posts. As you can imagine, I get quite a lot of pings for the post feed, and I'm not able to follow previous threads from the New threads feed. Is there more feeds or is it possible to add a feed per thread to the forum?

Hi guys, I guess some might have heard that we (Kobol Team) were spinning a new project to succeed to Helios4. Here it is... Helios64 We didn't have to look too far for the board name since in essence the goal was to redesign from scratch Helios4 with a 64-bit SoC and try to improve every key features that made Helios4 a very targeted board for NAS setup. Right now we are at the prototyping test phase, hopefully in a 2 month time will have dozen of Eval boards to send around for evaluation and review... and if all goes well first batch should be available for order in Feb / March 2020. Happy to answer an…

Hi, I am an enthusiast of this distro. In this moment I would like to install only CLI version. I write here because I don't want to go off topic. I know that there is the compiler: another very big solution that bring me and attach me at this place! But I am very shure that I will not do the job so well AS Armbian definitively is in the images for the supported SBC. So. I can only deactivate the desktop environment interface or I can start to study hard to build my own Great Armbian CLI version. The problem is that I would have the more RAM free is possible to run another layer software as MINERS or Clusters management. Another reason that we could use the CLI version i…

I seem to be running around in circles trying to make a decision about a new SBC to add to the herd. The job is currently being done by an OrangePi PC (H3, 1Gb), and is mostly about generating static web sites, which means rendering static HTML/json/js files and uploading them via SCP to a cheap shared hosting provider (the orange pi does not do the actual hosting). This means daily downloading of data from the web (a few hundred MB) and crunching this data to use it for the site. Currently it downloads my country's official covid cases data and generates per-city-daily-cases-per-capita with rolling averages in HTML graphs, this allows easier compa…

Hi all. I've just finished a new video where I polish the heatsink of my Rock Pi X with sandpaper. This because there's a rather thick powdercoating on the heatsink in the spot where it makes contact with the SoC. This caused a lot of thermal resistance. The SoC would get hot and overheat, while the heatsink didn't warm up. And the top of the board was the hottest spot. Here my video. On the NanoPi M4 and M4V2 there was a thermal pad included. This also was pretty bad. I raplaced those with a copper shim and some thermal paste and improved the thermals by about 10C. If you like to use your board passively cooled it can be important to look f…

I never know what to get anyone. If I'm being honest I have more than a little disdain for how commercialized the holidays have become nowadays. We were not raised in a materialistic way growing up. A lot of gifts were socks and other actually useful things like that (which I only appreciate now as I get older ). Anyway... So when some of the guys shared some pictures of themselves with some Armbian swag in IRC a while back, a little light bulb went off in my head. So this morning, I went nuts and spent > 400 USD sending everyone in my family some Armbian swag. I figure, it's a good way to get the word out there to friends and family ab…

I have been having some long running, on and off discussion with @lanefu in IRC (and elsewhere), because I know this is his area of expertise. However he is busy, and I can appreciate he might not want to spend his free time talking about stuff he gets paid to do M-F. Then I also realized, certainly I am not the only one interested in Armbian in order to be doing such things. So I thought I would make a thread about this, instead, to open the discussion to a larger group people here in the broader community. I have my own thoughts, concerns, things I want to do, and have already done, but I thought I would make a more general thread where like …

Good day everyone. I'm looking for your recommendations on a not too expensive ARMs powered board. - Preferably 16 or more cores (big.LITTLE mix is fine) - Cortex-A53/A55 or better. - 16GB of RAM or higher - NMVe support - Support for mounting several boards on U1 shallow spaces (depth of 25cm [10 inches] or less) - Support for booting Armbian and CentOS/Fedora Main purpose - system development (Linux, Java, Scala, Go, RUST), Kubernetes, database and overall platform tinkering. The Bamboo Systems - PANDA B1000N looks really nice, but I'm not sure it is in the modestly priced range - unless thinking that paying upfront for the…

https://github.com/open-sdr/openwifi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW6-6N_EtrY The goal is to release open source technical blue prints of an 802.11 wifi card. Ready for manufacturing. Hiring people for the task would be about 400000usd. At the present time such funds are not at hand. Openwifi got a nlnet.nl grant. Next move is to build a fpga wifi card device. Please comment if you think there will be a market for such a device? Which price should it have? Should a crowd funding get started, do you know companies willing to join a double up crowd funding? Thank you.

I am not a big fan of btrfs in general. But rather than shit up other people's threads where they mention it, I decided to create my own here where I can lay out my arguments, and then I can link to it instead and people can read it if they want. Some people are not going to like to hear this, so I will back it up by saying I have done fair amount of research into these advanced file systems over the last several years. It is a topic of great interest for me. At the same time, I view all knowledge as provisional, and maybe some things changed in the meantime, so discussion and factual corrections are welcomed. I will also try and spare the reade…

I was able to build the property file for the NanoPi M1 in about 20 minutes, so now basically you can do ~2 MHz GPIO square wave on all Allwinner and S905 CPUs (you listening @TonyMac32?) without any special code or adapters. All other libraries require one off code to support GPIO register access thus they only support limited boards. In my mind this is the holy grail for cross platform GPIO performance. I plan on going through some more diverse boards, but I'm happy with the results so far. Since only one core is utilized you'll average 25% CPU utilization on quad core systems. That may be another goal using two threads to improve performance further. I have currently m…

I have a need for a low-cost machine for my daughter. My concern, though, is that lack of hardware support (audio, video decoding) which makes low-profile hardware quite sluggish to use in the daily life. My point is that I am tired of seeing perfectly usable (in theory) electronic products to to landfill (and create an environmental disaster) just because software is falling short. Not even software in fact, bu…

Hello all, I am eyeing this board to make an access point. Wondering if somebody could tell me how good or bad the wifi actually is? In the past with orange pi, the performance was poor. I hope Rock Pi doesnt have this issue. Please let me know what your experience is. Thanks!

Just received my H616 OpiZero2... Since there is no Armiban -- I tried "Xunglong" version of Ubuntu Focal. Motd from Armbian armbian-config magically transferred into orangepi-config. Same to armbianmonitor, which is now .. guess - orangepimonitor. Also armbianEnv.txt now orangepiEnv.txt in /boot. Looks like "good global search and replace job" was done. I'm not a lawyer, neither too much aware of opensource licenses... But I guess there SHOULD be a reference to original Armbian sources ? May be Armbian "stakeholders" are aware of this, may be not. Just for your information.

At the moment I run a local Jellyfin server on an older amd64 system which @NicoD would call a giant space heater Anyway it would be nice if a proper SBC could replace this thing, last but not least to save a decent amount of space The question is which board is capable and has the proper software support? Anyone here does have experience with video acceleration on SBCs using media servers like plex, emby, jellyfin or whatever they all may called and if so which board, which kernel and how well do things work? Since the data backend is network storage the board does not need either lots of USB3 connectors (one decent is enough for caching) n…

Hi all. I wanted to put some light on the fact that you now can run some x86 Windows and Linux programs and games on the RK3399 with Box86. I have a topic about it in my lonely "Gaming on ARM club" I've made a preview video about it last week. I've done some further tests. It is just amazing. Plays way better than the RPi4. Tho not yet as many things work. @Salvador Liébana made prebuild images with Box86 preinstalled, and with many other emulators. You can download it here : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gQtgWz2pH2TX9Qs_bcDU9zn7w4edfcVf/view?fbclid=IwAR0SRSC8M_1_qm825n4Bd7bqjLmO30qTpFo73qQQga-TC_LRuc2BVFcGzKU Has been tested on many RK3399 d…

Hi there, I bought a few months ago a H616 based TV Box, and made the same kind of mistakes this week. I bought an OrangePi Zero2, also sporting a H616. I bought the TVBox because at that time: "wow, an undocumented AllWinnner SoC!", how stupid is that? I bought the Zero2 because CNX software gave a few hints about the SoC features, like the fact the G31 GPU is a Bitfrost GPU, meaning it supports Vulkan, and down the line, it could potentially be supported by Panfrost open-source graphics driver. I'm still dreaming of an Armbian based video encoding SBC, and this SoC (like so many others on the paper) looks promising: Video D…

So my whole goal with java-periphery was to create a decent cross platform userspace IO library which I believe I have achieved. One of my other goals was to create a high performance GPIO API that's also cross platform. If you look around there aren't any from what I can tell. Most high performance GPIO libraries support only a few boards. What I've done is use a well known interface (GPIO device) and some MMIO code to detect deltas and generate the required resisters and masks from an input file. This surely beats doing this by hand which I tried at first. The result is code that supports Allwinner H2+/H3 and H5/H6 by using just an input file. I'm going to look at other…

Maybe someone does know the old/historical SAM (Software Automatic Mouth) speech synthesizer for the Commodore 64? Today I did found the github-page with the source-code and compiled it on my Orange Pi R1 - using armbian For compiling the default SDL-version I had to install the 2 additional packages with apt - libsdl1.2-dev - libsdl1.2debian before SAM did compile on armbian. I also did try libsdl2-2.0.0 (and -dev), but this didnt worked well while compiling The souce-code could be found at: https://github.com/s-macke/SAM Hear here, how this OLD speech synthesizer sounds https://www.youtu…

I have been bouncing ideas around with@diozerofor using MMIO in a generic way to achieve fast GPIO for times when performance (bit banging, software based PWM, low CPU latency, etc) is required. This is my first attempt using a NanoPi Duo (H2+) which should work on any H2+ or H3 based SBC. What I've done is write a register mapper, so I can extract the register masks without having to do it by hand from the datasheet. Hand mask making is tedious and error prone. The generic part will come in by externalizing the register offsets and masks. This will happen after I build my next project using an Odroid C2. Also, since the Duo didn't have PUDs, so I could not map those. Tha…

I have zyxel NSA325v2 nas right now, with custom OS (Debian Buster) which is based on single core armv5 cpu. It handles 2 wd red HDDs quite nice, just as RAID 1 volume (mdadm). But when I installed OMV 5 his "horsepower" was...well, nonexistent [emoji2955] Simple file upload via samba takes about 80% of cpu at load ~2.0, downloading at load 1.5 and iperf indicates about 650-700Mbps speed. So I started to wonder - as an user of a few OPIs - if it would be possible to upgrade my NAS in very cheap manner [emoji16] Let's say at $50 max. Does any setup - beside USB-to-SATA card - comes to your mind? Any real SATA sbc at this price is available at all? Or sbc + pci-to-sata c…

OK, playing around with NanoPi Duo (H2+) to see what kind of performance boost I can get using MMIO (/dev/mem) instead of gpiod (forget sysfs) and it was pretty impressive. I used pre-calculated offset to run a square wave (rapid on/off) on pin 203 IOG11 and I hit ~3.8 MHz compared to ~500 KHz using gpiod. You can take a peek at the source at https://github.com/sgjava/java-periphery/blob/master/src/main/java/com/codeferm/periphery/demo/MmioTest.java. So the idea is how to make this generic with boards with multiple GPIO chips and different register configurations. The cool thing is the underlying MMIO stuff is kernel cross platform. Any ways I've been thinking about this …

Could you tell me in short how the process of…

So I'm working on a generic way to do MMIO GPIO on Armbian and chatting with @diozeroit seems like a wiringPi implementation is a good place to start for ideas. Armbian supports many FriendlyArm boards, so I took a look at https://github.com/friendlyarm/WiringNP. Of course out of the box it fails because it's probing for things found only in its home made OS distros. I found a way to hack the getBoardType function to hard code your board type for Armbian and probably other distros. This will work only on the board you hack it for. Honestly there should have been a way to pass in a parameter to override the detection code. In any event here's the method to use. …

Hi everyone, I would like to pick the brains of our fellow armbianers about powering the small boxes. My experience is that quality of the outlet, the in-the-wall circuit line, the health of the power strip, the actual voltage out of the plug, etc ... very much matter. How to best plug a system made of 5-6 devices (sbc+hard-drive+sata multiplier, dac, usb hub, usb wifi keys). Does phase, pluging orientation change something ? Is it possible to monitor via software the quality of the power signal from within the SBCs ? Interferences ? What kind of off the shelf instruments can help to monitor the power signal ? Do ferrites help ?…

After working with sysfs and libgpiod as cross platform solutions I was wondering if there was a faster way using /dev/mem or mmio? I know this gets more bare metal and SBC specific, but for some things you may want absolute speed. https://opensource.com/life/16/4/bulldog-gpio-library for instance claims 1 MHz GPIO writes in Java. However it only supports 3 SBCs as you can see from https://github.com/SilverThings/bulldog. Is there a more generic way to do this and not lose performance? Using my generated JNA wrappers for libgpiod I get about 2K writes per second. In Python I think it's about 70K using libgpiod Python bindings. I realize you may not always need 1 MHz GPIO …

I am trying to keep the Rock64 I have running on Armbian 10 Buster Version running Home Assistant in a Docker container running 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. It seems like it the OS goes into s sleep mode or power savings mode and I can not keep it up running 24 hrs a day. When it is up and running works very good but is there any settings in the OS that I can access from terminal (no running any gui or desktop) that I can invoke to keep it up and on line all the time?

Hi there, I'm, the maintainer of the Java library diozero and am looking to test the library on Armbian. I have quite a few devices but am looking to test with a TinkerBoard and Odroid C2. The library includes support for GPIO, I2C, SPI and serial. It includes very high performance memory mapped GPIO control (~10MHz) as well as sysfs and more recently GPIO character device. I've test the GPIO character device code on the Raspberry Pi and just looking at adding support for Armbian. I'm seeing gpioinfo doesn't include GPIO names which I see on the Raspberry Pi (everything is "unnamed") - is there anyway to fix that?

Somebody knows how much current at 5 volts the USB3 connectors of the Odroid C4 can deliver? The board itself is powered with 12 volts. From the schematics I could find two JW7111S switches for up to 2.4 amps. But the page seems to be a duplicate siince they have the same page number.

For the last few years I have been working on some hardware projects based on ARM SBCs. Every board I work with seems to have different kernel/overlay/GPIO/etc issues. So my question is - Which SBC, or chipset, has most complete and stable Armbian support? In other words if you had to pick a board to go into battle to run Armbian, without knowing any specific requirements, which SBC would it be?

Hello all, I've been recently burned by a failing SD card (armbianmonitor -v possibly saved me a much worse fate!) and I'm now trying to proactively avoid a similar situation. I found that WD has a line of cards that claim a health status feature that "Helps in preventive maintenance by signaling when the card needs to be replaced". One of them is the Purple QD101 that seems reasonably priced at $15 for 64GB. I'm not finding much in the way of details of how this is exposed though. Is there any way to get access to this information on linux?

You are free to connect any IRC network you want as long as it is IPv6 capable. You don't know what a bouncer is? Pause reading and check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BNC_(software) A…

Hello, I'm tearing my hair out. Help would be much appreciated. Initially, I installed Armbian on an SD card and successfully installed tvheadend and got the tuner to scan successfully. I'm using the 'predefined' network (UK Sutton Coldfield) which worked just fine before. I am running Armbian_20.08.1_Odroidn2_focal_current_5.8.5_desktop. Edit (can only post one per day). JMMC, what did I do different? Probably the order of things. I initially tried to install tvheadend via armbian-config, it didn't do anything. I in…

Hi there! I built a new system that automates the control of GPIO pins and makes it easy to switch them. It is fully realtime and based on NodeJS & Socket.io. I hope you like it. Originally supported board types are OrangePi, NanoPi & RockPiS. The Raspberry Pi support is recently published, there may be some bugs. Here is a link to the GitHub repository: https://github.com/ArdaSeremet/SBC-RealTimeIO . Please feel free to tell me about any further improvements. For now, I am working on PWM output support! Take care, be well!

Hello fellow armbianites, It has been put to me that arm based boards require a DTB file because arm works a bit differently than x86. The difference between an arm and an x86 board, is that x86 is standardised and always has the same form factor. When you plug in a device into an expansion slot or port on your motherboard the new device announces itself. All the addresses are known in advance and hence there is no need for a DTB file. On arm on the other hand board design is not standardised. You can design a PCB whichever way you would like and solder any component onto the board that your heart desires. There is no single way…

Does anybody have a solution how to charge battery with more conservative voltage range? I'm using battery backup for my CubieTruck boards to survive power outages for several years. And as one of the batteries recently blew up (and also killed the backup HDD next to it) I try to find a way to charge the battery in a range that preserves health of it. When searching for a long-term-save voltage range of LiPo batteries you get something like: use only half of capacity, much below 4V, never deep charge, ... Default setting for the AXP209 charge controller is to charge to 4,2V, and emergency shutdown is at 2,9V. These ranges are much too broad and may damage…

Hi, I have a few questions about the NanoPi R1 system. 1) The (USB > TTL) debug serial port is that 3.3v or 5v? I need to get the correct adapter. 2) Hooking up a serial debug cable is there enough room to close the front plate? 3) Can the system run from eMMc and get software upgraded from the SD-Card? 4) I could not not find clear procedures for this. Am not familiar with OpenWRT. 5) Can the Ethernet port be used to talk to a P.C. running Windows (putty) or would the micro-USB to P.C. be better? 6) I would eventually use WiFi for remote access and updates. 7) Can the NanoPi R1 run Apache WEB server? 8) Can …

Hello guys! As I'm trying to build a retrogaming handheld device, I stumbled about a problem concerning the framerate of my LCD display(ili9341). I'm using SPI to communicate with it and I have a hard time getting it to run >25FPS. As a solution I found 2 github repositories which also deal with the given problem. The first thing I tried was BB-CP from bitbank (https://github.com/bitbank2/BB-CP). Everything works pretty well but I can't get it to work in 16bit mode and in 32bit mode I can't get over 18FPS. Whenever I switch the Framebuffer depth to 16bit my screen goes full ham and shows a.) complete wrong colors or b.) just random colored stripes, rectangles or dots…

One of the board members here wrote an article about a 12 node NanoPi-Fire3 cluster. I found it quite exciting (I don't get out much). It is a couple of years old.
