Hello. Is worth to try this branch https://github.com/moonlinux/linux/tree/odroidc2-3.14.y-rt in order to build a realtime kernel upon https://dl.armbian.com/odroidc2/Debian_jessie_default.7z ? Hello Igor, In past threads, it seems a bit argued about the zram module, but will not the zram module be enabled by default on other arm boards? I am using odroid-c2, but it is effective in hardkernel? It seems that it is becoming. If possible, if Armbian seems to have no problem, I want it to be valid. https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=136&t=20116 $ grep "ZRAM" /boot/config-3.14.79-odroidc2 CONFIG_ZRAM=y # CONFIG_ZRAM_LZ4_COMPRESS is not set # CONFIG_ZRAM_DEBUG is not set $ lsmod | grep zram $ cat /etc/armbian-release # PLEASE DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BOARD=odroidc2 BOARD_NAME="Odroid C2" VERSION=5.31 LINUXF…

Hi, after doing some last changes (hopefully) to Uboot and the kernel, I have some questions on how to get the new Uboot and kernel on eMMC (I can't reinstall everything on a cleanly etched system). I have normal build environment, with mainline kernel and v2017.11. compile.sh gives me a new image without problems. The target system is running nicely on a 128GB eMMC, but how can I safely install the new Uboot and the new kernel to my eMMC? I would really be happy to have one of the experts telling me how to proceed without killing my system Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated. Michael

Hi, I have C4 installed sdcard with bullseye from armbian website and all good first steps, change pass etc, update upgrade, no error on console and reboot from console it simple not rebooting, I need to power off all the time. I tried Jammy just for check that is worked so what is wrong with Bullseye? My armbianmonitor -u is at http://ix.io/4cyZ

Hi, I use the C2 connector J2 signals to control power distribution for several attaches devices. A n-channel MOSFET is driven by a GPIO signal, with pulldown (3k3) to ensure that the n-channel MOSFET is off, - as long as the GPIO pin is in tristate or input state. I considered this to be the case for all "normal" GPIO lines (except I2C and SPI). I see now that after powerup, at least GPIOX_5 is active and switches on my load until I can export the GPIOX_5 and drive it low. Does anyone know if the GPIO lines are driven actively after powerup / reset? And if so, can this behaviour be changed in U-boot or kernel environment? The philosophy of t…

My NanoPiK2 is installed with Armbian Focal desktop system. When I used it normally for a day, I manually shut it down (closed properly). But when I restarted it, it finally displayed and stayed at [OK] Reached target Host and Network Name Lookups. Unable to enter the system. I tried to insert the SD card into the computer to search for the boot logs, but I couldn’t find it. How do i solve this problem?THANKS

Before I was able to manually send CEC commands to my tv with cec-client. However I'm not sure how it works with Linux kernel CEC implementation. I know /dev/input0 is the node for CEC, I just have no idea what to do in this case. In case of cec-client, I would use the website cec-o-matic, but is there also a site like this for the kernel implementation of CEC? The reason I want this, is because I need to power on a tv with a remote using the odroid.

I only test on my OdroidC2 so this find may affect more. As repeatedly mentioned, the C2 has usb detect issues. For us, a main culprit not discussed yet is the default kernel config. Having both: CONFIG_USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED=Y CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=Y For USB1.1, these should be one or the other, never both. Mainline has: CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=Y and CONFIG_USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED is not set. For the OdroidC2, CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=N is proper. As it has no OHCI and USB2 handles that for us. Forcing the USB power on state has helped workaround this issue, by keeping the driver tied to the device in the kernel.

Hi guys, after some interesting weeks, I could successfully install eight Odroid C2 together with dedicated FPGA hardware now, and prepare them now for deep sea operation. Just wanted to express a big "THANK YOU" to all here in the forum which were involved in helping me to get the beast working. The boards operate now with patches inside Uboot (serial console 9600 8N1) and several small patches inside the kernel (device tree, PWM, ADCs, 1Wire), and a patch inside the rt8152 driver to switch off the LEDs in the USB ethernet dongle (PMTs don't like such bright light usually). 128GB eMMCs are working fine, thanks to the speed patch …

Hello, i've experienced eMMC Problems with the latest stable Jessie Armbian-Image for Odroid C2. Thats why i installed Debian_jessie_next_desktop_nightly.7z from the nightly builds. After my first experiences it seems that image is working good since i did all of my configurations over serial console and ssh. Now when connecting my display it's not working. Which is 1440x900p60hz and connected over a hdmi<->dvi Adapter to the board. The device is starting with a black screen and not not detecting any display when i try to start the X-Server manually and there are also no /dev/fbdev* devices. Since the boot files b…

Hi guys, i have a question regarding the installation method of the two operating systems. On my OrangePI3 I booted the operating system from micro sd card and told armbian bionic that the eMMC memory will only be used as a boot loader while the rootfs of the actual operating system is installed on a connected USB stick. Is it the same with the Armbian Bionic for the Odroid C2 version? Or is it the case that the future operating system is written directly to the eMMC memory and booted from there? And then there was the reminder that Odroid C2 does not boot from USB. . . Can I use it as described for OrangePI3?

I cannot find the serial number with Armbian 23.02.2 on ODroid C4. On ODroid C2 with Armbian 22.11.2 and older versions it was readable on /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/serial-number. This does not exist anymore on C4. I do not know if it depends on Armbian version or board type.

Hi, just to let you know, I changed from "next" to "current", and found some quirks in the "current" kernel (using "buster"). (1) uart_C is not working (already fixed by martinayotte, thanks for the fast response!) (2) microSD card behaves strange: you can boot from uSD card, that works. When booting from eMMC card, the uSD clot is "dead", card insertation is not recognized anymore, it can't be used. Michael

Now checked on Odroid C2 an image 5.76 with MALI and a media script, by a technique with replacement of u-boot, as for K2. Everything works fine. After installing the script, the standard browser began to play video 1080 full screen without brakes. MPV is just as easy to handle any full-screen video. Bonus has an in-house sound via HDMI. There is one caveat when configuring - it is necessary to specify the correct DTB option in the file for Odroid C2 "/extlinux/extlinux conf". 1. Copy of the standard u-boot from the working SD card. dd if=/dev/mmcblkXXX of=u-boot_odroid_c2.img bs=1M count=4 2. Burn the image Armbian for TV Boxing…

Hello to all, I have an OdroidC4 with a Hardkernel HDMI Display VU7Aplus. I installed latest image 22.11 XFCE. I think the display size via display data channel is not properly handled. If a lot of text is to be displayed (see pic with the setting of the locale after first login), the lowest lines disappear. So you have to type in the language/continent/country settings blind, because there is no input prompt to be seen. Even when the GUI desktop starts, there is the same issue. When you open a terminal window, the lower border of the window disappears (see pic). Is there a way to configure the display size manually? I also did …

Using a cable such as this one, can we expect Armbian on the C2 to consistently assign the same serial designation to each cable port? It would be nice but probably not? I found this question and this one but I'm not sure what would be the best approach for my application. I'd like to do it 'The Armbian Way' if there is one. How would you ensure that each hardware device is assigned the same port each time? Thanks .

Hi, after getting access to GPIO pins now (thnx to Neil ) I wonder that accessing pins be bash scripts gives me quite different access times. For example, I use one pin to switch a connected device on and off by a MOSFET. Setting the pin low is fast, setting it high takes about two seconds. I use the following shell script: #!/bin/bash echo "0" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio102/value ("0" for off, "1" for on) Any ideas? The pin seems to switch immediately, while the shell prompt takes about two seconds to return - but ONLY in case of "1". The corresponding pin is set to output, of course, before Best regards, Michael …

Hi, maybe someone can give me a hint... I have a running system now on 128GB eMMC card, and wanto to use GPIO. I have /sys/class/gpio/ with export, and unexport files, and two gpiochip0 and gpiochip14 entries. Unfortunately I can't export pins, as export 231 > /sys/class/gpio/export gives me a (as user and root) bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument Any help is appreciated. EDIT: works now. It is somehow a bit complicated, as the "usual" numbers as known from 3.x kernels vanished. Debug output shows two "gpiochips", with a certain number of pins, which you have to correlate to the device tree enums for that "chips" - …

Hi, I am trying to get the official Hardkernel RTC board working. This board requires the driver module "rtc-pcf8563.ko" which is not included in the image by default. So I went through the kernel compiling tutorial, to add this module to my "own" kernel, and copy it over to my main system. First problem: the kernel version was different: main system is at version 4.18.8, while the module was compiled for 4.18.20. I could fix this by myself be defining the KERNELBRANCH='tag:v4.18.8'. Second problem: the "linux family" has changed. My main system is at Armbian version 5.60 for family "odroidc2". The driver module was compiled for "meson64"…

Hi, I want to change the resolution to a custom setting. In order to do this I changed the /boot/boot.ini file to custombuilt and include the relevant modeline for my display. Hi, Armbian_21.02.3_Odroidc1_focal_current_5.10.21 how do I find out which number do I need to provide to gpio export command? But that doesn't work with Armbian: echo 102 > /sys/class/gpio/export [ 1602.030617] export_store: invalid GPIO 102 How do I know the value to provide for /sys/class/gpio/export? # cat /sys/kernel/debug/gpio gpiochip1: GPIOs 413-428, parent: platform/c8100084.pinctrl, aobus-banks: gpio-416 ( |TF_IO ) out lo gpio-417 ( |usb-hub-reset ) …

I needed a kernel upgrade to be able to run some applications. I value stability over cutting edge features so I decided to try the Debian image. However I detected a few things that are not working properly. 1. USB almost never works. Most of the time my very plain USB keyboard won't be detected. There is an error message right at the start of the boot sequence "Failed to get keyboard state from device[...]". I have to shutdown and start multiple times by plugging off the power cable and I also keep trying different USB ports. Some rare times the keyboard will work though, even with the above error message. Even rarely I don’t see the error message at the boo…

I am unable to get any RTC installed on a C2 with current Armbian. i2cdetect sees the device ID but no joy getting anything to talk to it. Yes, I know these are very old but they were donated to a non-profit and I am trying to help set them up for a project. Current Armbian runs great and perfect for our need. I need an RTC. I have tried both the Odroid PCF8563 (0x51 seen) and DS3231. I have tried all the online blog posts, rebuilt the Device Tree, etc. but can't seem to get things to work. Any pointers would be much appreciate. LInux odroidc2 6.12.56-current-meson64 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed. Oct 29 13:09:02 UTC 2025 Thanks, Scott

The proposed solution here (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/4824) basically performs a power-reset of the SDCARD in the final moments in order to prepare for the bootloader's (Uboot) restart. What puzzles me is that the kernel has a Watchdog feature which seems to operating fine as witnessed by the console log "watchdog: watchdog0: watchdog did not stop!" meaning that the watchdog driver has been told to disregard attempts to disable it (which is fine in the context that the watchdog is being used to reset the cpu). The problem is, the watchdog never times-out because, i presume, something is still "kicking the dog" (there seems to be a worker thread tas…

I have tried every one of the latest 24.x images on my newly purchased LaFrite s805x-ac board. NONE worked. They all gave an error about overwriting reserved memory. I randomly chose a 20.x image and it worked immedaitely. I do not currently have time to do further analysis.

My buddy gave me his Odroid C4 when he bought a Raspberry and it has been reset for me to use. I plugged it into my new fibre modem. It has access to the internet. I have my PC upstairs with lots of videos I have downloaded. I used to use a WD box to watch my movies. I can't seem to get the new Odroid to connect to the network. I use windows 10 and didn't have a problem sharing files before. Does anyone have idea on how to hock the systems so they will share files??? Rod

hi, i recently created a game that i would like to install over 905x3 tv box, i would like to protect it from copy. is there a way to encrypt the whole ROM without the need of any external hardware or password to be entered each reboot ? tv box launch directly into the game and every possible way to interact with linux is disabled (keyboard, usb, lan) and i only need to encrypt the ROM to make the game more resistent in some extent to copy. i read about encrypted bootloader but i'm not sure if that is what i need. can i only encrypt the game bin with a key that is protected inside the 905x3 ? (beside cpuid as it seem easy to reverse). …
