Hi, trying to start my Banana Pi Pro Board with the latest Armbian buster image (Armbian_21.02.1_Bananapipro_buster_current_5.10.12.img.xz) without success. There is initial output on the screen until there is the message "Starting kernel ...", the after a few seconds the monitor loses its signal and nothing seems to happen any more see: https://c.1und1.de/@520257322610590089/1IBkHiwHQX6jYxLPdlkTZQ Reading through the forum I guessed it could have to do with an issue of automatic discovery of the correct DTB, so I edited the armbianEnv.txt file and added the following line to it: fdtfile=sun7i-a20-bananapro.dtb But still the sam…

Hi, I Would like to connect orangepi PC to 1280x1024 dvi monitor, as I used to with few years old armbian before. Tried h3disp but it reports that board/kernel is not supported. Is there some new method for that? Also it looks like armbianmonitor can't upload system info anymore.

Hi, 2 weeks ago I upgraded my Cubietruck to newest Armbian version: root@cubietruck04:/var/log# uname -a Linux cubietruck04 5.10.4-sunxi #20.11.6 SMP Sun Jan 3 21:28:45 CET 2021 armv7l GNU/Linux root@cubietruck04:/var/log# lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Please help me to find out the issue. From kern.log I see 2 different crash reasons: Jan 2…

Hello, After looking on the forum and on the internet I am turning to you. Here is my problem: armbian is currently running on an SD card and I would like to put it on the eMMC memory of my orange Pi 3 (8gb). When I run the sudo nand-sata-install script it offers me to install eMMc on my memory but tells me that the partition is too small. 8go seems largely sufficient to install armbian. You should know that this orange Pi already contains linux firmware in its internal memory. I figured this was due to the fact that maybe this version of armbian didn't support emmc memory, so I tried with the focal version, the buster version and the bionic version…

Hi I am trying to set up auto-login with enable desktop, using armbian-config as user root, and getting 'killed' once I select which under-priviledged user to enable. Hi all, I am hoping there is a straight forward solution to this; I've read this thread on turning on and off the usb OTG using GPIO commands: The concept is really clever and I was hoping to use it as part of my Octoprint 3D printing setup so that I can turn off printer when not in use. The only catch is that the method requires modifying the ./bin/orangepione.bin file which isn't present on my version of Armbian (Buster). TL;DR according to the post I need to 1. convert ./bin/orangepione.bin to FEX, 2. edit the file by adding "usb_drv_vbus_gpio = port:PL02<1><0><default><0>", 3. convert …

I am trying to install Tensorflow on my Orange Pi One. Everything seems okay on install, but pip says ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement tensorflow ERROR: No matching distribution found for tensorflow My guess is that the OS is a 32bit version and that Tensorflow runs on 64bit ones only. However, I can't find any source of checking whether the Armbian version I have is 32bit or 64bit.

Hi enthusiast, Last few year I used Armbian 5.25, which allow me to echo cpufreq into /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_***_freq to choose the overclock freq. However, last week, I had to disconnect the power and the Banana Pi didn't boot again. So I decided to install a fresh updated version of Armbian, which is called Bionic. The /proc/version shows: Linux version 4.19.62-sunxi (root@armbian.com) (gcc version 7.4.1 20181213 [linaro-7.4-2019.02 revision 56ec6f6b99cc167ff0c2f8e1a2eed33b1edc85d4] (Linaro GCC 7.4-2019.02)) #5.92 SMP Wed Jul 31 22:07:23 CEST 2019 But now, when I want to overclock by using the method above, it won't al…

I'm running a fresh installation of Armbian 20.11 Focal with Linux 5.8.16-sunxi on NanoPi Neo board with Allwinner H3. root@nanopineo:~# uname -a Linux nanopineo 5.8.16-sunxi #20.08.14 SMP Tue Oct 20 22:15:32 CEST 2020 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux The problem is that MAC address changes on every boot. This is very problematic for systems where an IP is assigned by DHCP based on MAC address table. I have two important questions: 1) Why MAC address is not generated based on processor unique ID? This seems to be the most sensible solution. 2) What part of code/startup script is assigning the random MAC address? Unfortunatelly I was not a…

Hi, I try working with i2s driver on last armbian (5.99 kernel 4.19.84) with nanopi neo and found trouble with I2S clock - it has very excessive jitter (see attached screen from my oscilloscope). I use small dts overlay for enable i2s and mainline i2s code without changes and with changes from codekipper, nanopi neo and neo 2 with same result, but old armbian image 5.65 (4.14.17) working without problem. Hi Armbians I am running mulitiple TOR network relays on Cubietruck boards (Cubieboard 3) in different Datacenters with synchronous 100 MBit/s internet connection each board (by ethernet plug) for 1- 1,5 years now. At the beginning each board could handle 25 MBit/s incomming and outgoing traffic the same time easy and 24/7. The boards are running the latest Armbian build with kernel headers installed and full firmware package. But now, as you can see here, my Cubietrucks are getting slower after time, with the network traffic they can handle via eth0: https://metrics.torproject.org/rs.html#details/EC9C4CDB403204731122C9D3FA44DFAE6…

Hello everyone! I am designing a PCB and I need to know if there is a possibility to swap SPI0_CLK and SPI0_CS by changing this line from: pins = "PC0", "PC1", "PC2", "PC3"; to pins = "PC0", "PC1", "PC3", "PC2"; Currently I don't have a board to check it myself. Any ideas if this would even work? Thanks!

I had got a OrangePI One Plus (H6) on a few day ago. I had a problem with HDMI to VGA Converter that it do not work with my OrangePI One Plus. I guess it maybe about the Power of that HDMI on OrangePI One Plus was not enough for HDMI to VGA Converter's operation. Then I fix it by replace regular HDMI to VGA to be HDMI to VGA with 5V external port. And Yeah, it's work fine!!! but I had OrangePI One (H3), OrangePI PC2(H5) and OrangePI Prime(A64) too which All of them had no problem with HDMI to VGA Converter. I feel wonder with this problem on OrangePI One Plus.

Hello. During the Italian pandemic lockdown I am building a mini cluster with some boards that I have found in my house. I have three OrangePi and one Nanopi Fire3. I assembled them in a box and I connected them via ethernet. I connected the monitor on a OrangePi One plus. The keyboard and mouse are on a blouetooth usb key. I would like to have all Armbian (for the reasons that you all know!). I installed all SD with Armbian Images. Every SBC has the text file with fixed ip parameters. All the network files (etc/network/interface) are well written and in the local network all Armbians are pinging each other ones. I reach them via SSH and they talk with the one that has th…

Hi, I've been using Armbian with Banana Pi M2 for a while and I am very satisfied with performance. Recently I noticed that Teamviewer has been developed for ARM systems, officially only for Raspbian but it seems few people had success running it on Orange Pi too. I followed installation instructions and succeeded however once I connect to it I see only black screen. Did anyone else manage to get it working? Below is link to original thread: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=144608

I'm trying to disable IPv6 on my NanoPi Neo2. Initially I used the option in armbian-config -> Network -> IPv6 (toggle). I can confirm that IPv6 is disabled by running 'ip a' and no longer seeing any IPv6 addresses. And I can also confirm that the following config is changed in /etc/sysctl.conf: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 However after a reboot I see the IPv6 addresses back. Hello, I have been struggling for some time with random freezes. I am running application with i2c0 Fram and UART1 for transferring/receiving data based on MAX3232. The freezes cause no response from Orange PI (debug UART too), only unplug power helps. I read that it may be a problem with powering but i tried many USB power adapters 2A, 3A and ATX power (28A) connected to GND and 5v, nothing helps. I have lowered cpu max frequency to 816Mhz and still the same. All necessary data uploaded via armbianmonitor.

I'm on a years old Orange pi zero H2, an often forgotten single purpose print/scan server board. So i want to upgrade to the latest kernel via armbian-config->system->other(switch kernel). Previously its on 4.19. so when i tried to change to current 5.8.16, 5.8.14, 5.8.12 & 5.8.5, i got "No end-user support: unsupported (stretch) userspace!" it has taken me an hours plus just switching kernel, hoping to find the supported ones. though i dont mind unsupported / legacy kernel, i still prefer the latest supported ones. Is any of the kernel on the list supported? if there none on the list, is there a way to add a supported kernel?…

Dear forum, When looking at the Orange Pi Zero schematic V1.1, the OSC-RTC box is empty. Does this mean that there is no crystal for the internal RTC? The internal RTC cannot be used at all? When just checking the time register, the RTC is running too fast. Thanks, Arjan

Hi, I started using pinebook armbian buster when it was beta, it worked. From that beta I upgraded yeysterday and I see no display (LCD) after kernel starts (I only see the boot). The same using a new official image [1] I know there is another places to track this issue [2], but the thing is that in the official image page [1] it says it is fully working and that is not true. There are two options: - changing the status to something beta (like before) so you are less responsible of problems - putting an image that works [1] https://www.armbian.com/pinebook-a64/ [2] https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-443

Dear All, I have been downloaded the Armbian Buster OS from "https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-3/" link and flash on Orange pi3 board. We are tesing OPI3 board with TCL monitor [(Model : 55P8E) (Resolution: Ultra HD (4K) ) 55 inch ] but getting the blank screen on display. After that we changed the TCL monitor setting by HDMI 2.0 "OFF" from "Auto" mode then it's working fine. We have another monitor which does not have HDMI 2.0 OFF mode facility so we can't use our product in market due to this limitation. FYI : same thing we tested with fresh orangepi board (with default android image) and it working fine. It will be good if some…

I'm not sure if I should pursue this here or if I should open a ticket through Debian Bugs. A recent update now causes mpd to segfault. mpd comes from the Debain armhf repository. I'm not sure how to determine if this is a hardware issue with my board somehow or if there is an interaction with a new kernel or if it's because the package updated the binary or a library. To make sure it wasn't something weird in my configuration I moved the conf file out of the way and re-ran mpd with the same result. If it helps, I can post an strace output of the issue. James

How do I select the new kernel to boot from it? i use orangepi+2e

Hi, I have a orange pi pc. I tried the ubuntu xenial image (kernel 5.3.5) from the orange pi website and the armbian 5.8 image. I don't get vdpau working. It did not work out of the box in both images. So I tried to install the libvdpau-sunxi: http://www.orangepi.org/orangepibbsen/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=878 It compiled. Then I got the error that the cedar_dev dosn't exist. Then I found out that the mainline kernel doesn't have this module. So I tried this: https://github.com/uboborov/sunxi-cedar-mainline But I don't understand what I have to do there. Is there a current armbian image that has a working vdpau or can you…

I'm trying to make a master image to install to some NanoPI Neo boards. I have everything running fine from micro SD card. I used armbian-config to flash from SD to the eMMC and it boot and works. Now I'm looking for a way to flash the eMMC from command line in an automatic fashion, after looking for other threads in the forum I found about command nand-sata-install but it has a GUI and no --help parameter, so I guess it is not the exact program I have to use. I tested using dd command to copy the disk, but since there is this u-boot thing I think it is not just a standard disk copy because it failed (maybe my problem). My final idea is to have a master SD …

Hardware: Orange Pi Zero 512MB LTS (several different devices), bench power supply, good SD card - everything working good at all clock speeds from 480MHz upwards (all the way up to 1.4GHz even, with a heatsink). ffmpeg encode, stress-ng etc. are all fine. Specifically, the board is rock solid at 960MHz. What I want to achieve: take the U-boot for OPi Zero, and rebuild with an adjusted config to achieve a faster boot time, by replacing CONFIG_SYS_CLK_FREQ=480000000 with CONFIG_SYS_CLK_FREQ=960000000. (Does anyone know why the standard Armbian build is set to boot at such a low clock speed?) Starting point: I can successfully build U-boot from the A…

In a brainfart i thought the rpi gpio is compatible with most arm boards. so i took one witch i had laying around and i connected the Raspberry pi DVB-T HAT module (TV uHAT). I checked if the SPI bus pins where compatible and with the help of the "Hardware_Allwinner_overlays guide" i created a overlay for the rpi-tv (used the original from the raspberry pi github). to my surprise (after some struggle) it work. // rpi-tv HAT /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun4i-a10", "allwinner,sun7i-a20", "allwinner,sun8i-h3", "allwinner,sun50i-a64", "allwinner,sun50i-h5"; fragment@0 { target = <&spi0>; __overlay__ { /* …

Hi, I need to use the i2c in the u-boot stage. I've added a patch that enables this i2c bus in the device-tree, and when I run this command (just for example): sudo i2cset -y 2 0x1b 0x1 0xf AFTER the boot stage it seem to work. However when I try this command IN THE boot stage, I get: Unknown command 'i2cset' - try 'help'. 1. I guess I'm trying to use 'i2cset' in a too early stage - any idea how to control the i2c in the u-boot stage or how to make 'i2cset' available at the u-boot stage ? 2. Hi, I'm trying to use hardware acceleration on my OrangePi PC+ (H3) board, and when I try to compile v4l2-request, it complains for undefined constants. These constants are supposed to be declared in /usr/include/linux/videodev2.h, but looks like a very old version of this file is distributed in the latests Armbian images for my board. Some missing headers: V4L2_PIX_FMT_MPEG2_SLICE, V4L2_PIX_FMT_SUNXI_TILED_NV12 Looks like these #define have been introduced more than two years ago in the mainline kernel : https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blame/d5beb3140f91b1c8a3d41b14d729aefa4dcc58bc/include/uapi/linux/videodev2.h#L698 Even more weird: a later …

Attempting to connect ILI9341 LCD with XPT2046 Touch to NanoPi NEO Core2 and then migrate to NanoPi Duo2. The ILI9341 / XPT2046 peripheral board has shared SPI with a separate slave chip select for the screen and touch controllers. Starting with hardware datasheet for the H3 I see there is lots of support for different chip select implementations. This makes me think I am on good footing from a hardware perspective. What is not clear to me is how the register support for four slave chip selects translates into pin assignments. Reading through spi-sun6i.c., for example, static int sun6i_spi_transfer_one( ... ) uses SUN6I_TFR_CTL_CS_MANUA…

Hi, I've been using Armbian for three years on some work's project and this is the first time I see this issue. Basically I have an image of the operative system and all the programs and scripts already saved in it, so when I have to prepare a new SD card I just use the command "dd" and then I modify some registry stuff specific for the object I'm creating. It has always worked without problem, but now we bought a new batch of SD cards and I'm facing this issue: the dd command goes succesfully and if I mount the partitions after it has finished I can see all my data, but when I boot the system sometimes I get some errors. Here is the last part of the…

I've got a NanoPi Neo Core 2 and a NanoPi Neo Air. It bothered me that the USB OTG did not function in host mode. Turns out, the included Armbian .dtb's don't have the parts necessary to define the regulator which pushes power back to a client device when the board needs to run in OTG host mode. You can see the regulator on page 8 of the schematic http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/images/6/6b/NanoPi_NEO_Core2-V1.0_1707.pdf I found an upstream patch at https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9921097/ which defined the missing parts for a Neo Plus 2. Hello I have an Orangepi One which fails after running for a certain time. In the failed "state" pinging it still works, but SSH connections to the Orangepi or from the Orangepi to the Server via Autossh won't work any more. A PHP application running on it is still working. It looks like the issue is that it winds back the time to something ridiculous. Hard reset with pulling Power fixes this for again a certain time till it happens again. I wrote a script which runs every Minute via Cronjob and logs the current time to a file. Before the rewind already something weird is happening. The cronjob is executed twice on 04.40. On the 20.08.2 Buster release (Kernel 5.8.6) the headphone jack is not currently working. HDMI audio seems to be supported. aplay -L returns only the HDMI audio interface. I have a raspi hat (rak2245) that has 2 versions: a pi-hat version that has a 40 pin-header on it for raspberry pi's , but also a smaller stamp edition. It uses spi and uart to communicate with the pi. I have it running without issues on my orange pi zero, even though the pinheader is a little too large. And via a breadboard I can access all pins just fine. But since I am making my own PCB anyway, I am interested in using the stamp version. The only difference between the stamp and the pi-hat version (aside from the form-factor and pin-out) is that the pi-hat version has an additional eeprom chip to tell the rapsberry pi about the function of the pins apparently. Now…

Hi, I'm using a CubieTruck running Armbian 5.8.16. /dev/ttyS2 works fine if I use the 4.19.62 dtb but not when using the 5.8.16 dtb. I am using the uart2 overlay and param_uart2_rtscts. I am considering the purchase of an Orange Pi 3 and I was wondering how well it is supported by the current Armbian image. According to https://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort it should work mostly fine. How well does Panfrost run on the board? Are there any gotchas that I should be aware of? Thanks.

Dear Armbian community, First of all, I am aware of the fact that what I am trying to achieve is not supported, but let me ask anyway. What I am trying to do is to build my custom root filesystem for my specific embedded needs (which is pretty minimal and without systemd) while still using kernel (5.8.16-sunxi) and modules provided by Armbian. It is going great so far, but the first issue I need to figure out is why there are approximately 60 second delays between each brcmf_fw_alloc_request calls (full dmesg available here): [ 40.602927] brcmfmac: brcmf_fw_alloc_request: using brcm/brcmfmac43430-sdio for chip BCM43430/1 [ 40.620798] brcmfmac mmc2:0…

Hello all ! I connected relle to pins (Physical): Relle Orange in 35 gnd 6 ucc 2 But it is constantly active (on), although the port status 32 is off (0). Why is that? # gpio write 24 1 Changes the port status, but has no effect on the relay. Relle ist ON alweys! If you physically disable the pin (in - 35), then the relay is turned off. I just installed the system. I did not install any additional services and packages. Maybe I need to configure something in the system to activate the GPIO?

I successfully installed Armbian Focal¹ on my Neo Core 2 with MiniShield² and SSD. I find no issues after booting boot from SD-card. But I fail to boot from eMMC with System on SATA using nand-sata-install: In the serial console i see the boot process to stick after «Started udev Kernel Device Manager». Any hints how I can unblock from here? it appears the pins on the esp8266 12e are also on the orange pi one. Can I connect the pins to an armbian orange pi one and then test the esp8266 12e? I want to test if wifi works. Is required software present in armbian? Or should I get an usb adapter https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1pm33XifrK1RjSspbq6A4pFXaf.jpg?width=1000&height=1000&hash=2000 and utilize a x86 gnulinux computer? It says the esp8266 12e supports i2c. Does the orange pi one have i2c pins, such that I can test the wifi of the esp8266 12e from an i2c connection on the armbian orange pi one? Is required software present in armbian? Thanks.
