Hi! I have a problem in using USB DAC. USB DAC has been usually plugined in USB port and when OPi PC boots up, it is recognized by alsa but cannot be played. As I observed, green lights on boards -> USB DAC wakes up -> it takes a little while till red light -> USB DAC goes into power save mode with light blinking -> red lights up -> USB DAC wakes up again -> after booting, USB DAC is recognized by alsa but cannot play music through USB DAC e.g. mplayer2 shows "Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound." The only work around that I know is to plug in USB DAC after power up the board, i.e. power on OPi PC first -> plug in USB DA…

Hello, I wanted to upgrade my Bananapi M1. So I downloaded "Buster minimal" from https://www.armbian.com/bananapi/ Last modified: 2020-02-17. I flashed the image to my SD card and started the SBC. But nothing happened. I got no heartbeat LED nor HDMI output. (I know from my Tinkerboard that I have to boot without connected HDMI to start correct. I did this with the bananapi too.) So I tried different variants: Bionic server, Buster server and Buster desktop. I never had a video output. I cross checked with my old raspian lite from 2016. With this image the Bananapi works. I used dd and Etcher for SD card preparation. What am I doing wrong? Can I us…

Hi again guys, I buy some usb wireless boards to connect to the GPIO with the UART Pines, but in the especifications of the GPIO, only i see 1: Has you can see only GPIO 14 and 15 have TXD and RXD... I will use too the SPI to add other ethernet so... its possible use other GPIO for TXD and RXD?? In my Pixhawk (board for drones) i use I2C for monitoring stats via wireless (2.4Ghz), maybe this pines can work for usb wireless. If is possible, how can i program other pines for that? will be any diference? (more slow or more cpu resources or whatever?) Thanks like always!

Hello every one I'm new to this site and I have recently purchased an Orange Pi Win Plus but got a lot of issues in configuring it. I'm now able to blink LED through Shell and C with WiringPi but I couldn't find any working Python 3 based Library for GPIO. I installed WiringPi from : https://github.com/OrangePiLibra/WiringPi This actually helped me to access GPIO through C/C++ and Shell but I couldn't find any thing for Python that's working. I came accross a new Python Library : "pyA64" but its not working. Also, the library "OPi.GPIO" doesn't supports my Board. I also tried this : https://github.com/lanefu/WiringPi-Python-OP but that's makes my "gpio" com…

Hello and Happy New Year my lovely Armbian friends! I am aware that this topic is a reoccurring one, having abused the search function beyond its functional capabilities I have found the following threads that deal with somekind of sleep and wake with separate pins for each function: how to wake up OPi3 gpio to inform of system shutdown I would like to know if it is possible to have 1 pin act as both sleep and wake depending on its voltage? - if so how could i modify one of those dts in the first link? I am new to dts so not sure how the pin mappings are assigned. for example, I have a DRV5053 hall effect sensor tha…

Hi, I have problems with NanoPi NEO on Allwinner H3 due to sudden sporadic Linux kernel overheating shut down. I'm using the Linux kernel 4.14 on Debian Trixie. The syslog shows: The hours before, the kernel shows above 80°C by: But there is not much load on it. When looking to "top" I see less then 10% as load average and more then 90% idle. "iotop" shows all processes <1%. And when measuring the chips, all are cool at below 40°C It looks like the CPU suddenly get into a hot-state above 80°C, because it stays there for hours independent from the process load. Even after a reboot command, the system comes up again and is still above un…

Hi there, I've received 4 NanoPi Neo (with heatsinks as suggested by @tkaiser) recently. Here is my my first impression and also I've come across some minor issues. I hope It would be useful. I've installed Armbian_5.27.170403_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.10.3. Also tried dietpi (kernel 3.4) and h3-mainline-ubuntu-core-qte-sd4g-beta-20170228.img (FrendlyArm, kernel 4.10) So far for good. Armbian works like a charm I have been able to install Docker and I've performed some simple tests. Awesome job guys! I've found one issue so far MAC address changes at every reboot. The issue was mentioned in some threads on the …

Talking about this -> https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/commit/cdc02f678620d6dba6c9e4ebc60884fc54c6dfc6 Dont know if anyone else noticed it, but after applying this I got about 10% lower CPU temp. (from 75 ro 67) in OPi/H3 under the same heavy workload with same performance! If there has not been any other temperature modificatioin done then this thumb2 change is definitively towards the right direction. Kudos guys!

Hi, I'm using an hdd at my cubietruck and moved the root-fs to hdd. Now I'm wondering, whether it would be better, to change the commit settings in /etc/fstab to a lower value than 600? I assume, the 600 was meant for data on a flash storage in order to reduce the writes on it!? But in order to keep "things in sync", shouldn't I better reduce it? Or delete the whole commit option? What do you mean? Thanks and best regards, Jochen

Is there a Xenial image for NanoPi M1, or a way to “easily†build one ?. I see here https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo/ that there is a Xenial image for NanoPi Neo. I am asking because I would like to run HQPlayer's Network Audio Adapter on my NanoPi M1. And this doesn't run on Debian Jessie legacy as it needs libstdc++6 (>=5.2), but it does run on a NanoPi Neo with Xenial. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I am new to the Armbian. I have build the kernel for BananaPi M2+ using the instruction specified in Armbian document for Building with Vagrant. I could see the output file "linux-image-sun8i-5.59.armhf.deb" in the "output/debs" folder. Know I don't know how to download or install this file on the SD card which is running on my bananaPi M2+. Bascically I need guidance on how to transfer my kernel build image from my windows PC to the SD card which I will be using to test the Bananapi M2+ board. Any help or documents will be highly appreciated.

So ARMbian is my preferred OS for the pcduino3 because it outperforms all of the other options. However, I'm having trouble altering the screen resolution. I'm trying to get it set to 1024x768@60p and it's not playing ball. I've edited script.bin and boot.cmd to change the display mode to output mode/type 4 (desired res and VGA mode respectively) but it just goes to a blank screen and refuses to boot when I reboot it. What exactly do I need to do to get this resolution working? If 1024x768@60 isn't an option, I can work with 1280x1024@60 as well, but I'm still clueless as to the necessary steps to take to change it. -edit- Sorry I should add I'm using the jess…

Hi! I've coded a script that allows me to create a bootable disk of my favorite systems for different boards. it does a dd of the mbr (446 kb), then with fdisk and mkfs create the partitions, and at the end copy all the data for the root partition and others. This works for raspberry pi2 pi3, but for the orange pi it works only if the sd card is the same of the one used to backup the system, so i've investigated if the fstab or boot.cmd has some uuid of the disk but everywhere i found the device name instead of the uuid identifier. I don't understand why the orange pi lite don't boot with a different sd card if it have the same mbr and the same partitions. app…

Hello I'm using OPI PC + with 8GB external SD card. I detected a strange bug. I was using nand_sata_install.sh script to install Armbian to emmc card. After figuring out how to enable analog audio on the Lime2 (https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/4224-analog-audio-on-lime2-with-stable-kernel-version-49/), I now have the problem that there is a clearly noticeable mainline hum whenever no sound is playing. The hum goes away as soon as any sound is playing on the device, and it returns a couple seconds after the sound stopped. It appears like some kind of power saving feature kicks in. With the legacy kernel the hum goes away during boot and does not return. Any ideas?

I built the latest Nobel build and ended up with Armbian-unofficial_26.02.0-trunk_Nanopiduo_noble_current_6.12.63.img. Even at idle it runs 70C. If you try to do upgrades it will do thermal shutdown. The temp reporting is real because it's hot enough to burn your finger if you hold the heat sink long enough. I used a PS2 usb fan (I call it the ghetto cooler 5000) long enough to downgrade kernel to 6.1.x. Now it idles around 50C. I know there's been heating issues with H3 (Duo uses H2+). I compared DTBs, voltages and cannot find the smoking gun. I played around controlling the voltages, etc. Anyways, I'm OK with 6.1.x kernel since this board was out in 2017. I still have a…

My Prime is reasonably stable now, except for running youtube videos in fullscreen 1920x1080, which drives the heat up (I've seen 87 !), and after a few minutes freezes the video with the sound continuing. I can't find any mention of YouTube in the documentation, and only video URLs in the forum. Is there some trick I have missed?

I'm running Armbian_5.20_Micro_Debian_jessie_3.4.112 on an Olimex A20 micro board. I find that opening serial port device `/dev/ttyS2` causes the system to crash. The board heartbeat LED either stops or blinks rapidly. The board itself is not pingable. I can reproduce this issue with a simple from the shell using: cat /dev/ttyS2 or from c code using: fd = open("/dev/ttyS2", O_RDWR | O_NOCTTY | O_NDELAY); `/dev/ttyS2` is linked to UART6. In the fex file, I have configured it like so: [uart_para6] uart_used = 1 uart_port = 6 uart_type = 2 uart_tx = port:PI12<3><default><default><default> uart_rx = port:PI13<3><default><defau…

I just received 3 of the Zero Plus boards and am trying to verify they at least basically work. I'm new to Armbian & Orange Pi but have been using Raspbian & Raspberry Pi's for years. I've downloaded Armbian for the OP Zero (Armbian_5.38_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.img), verified the gpg signature and the sha256 checksum and used Etcher v. 1.4.4 on a 2017 iMac, macOS Sierra, to burn SD cards. After burning, macOS claims "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." Maybe that's normal for Armbian? diskutil list shows: /dev/disk8 (external, physical): #: TYPE NAME SIZE …

I'm trying to use 1080p60 with a DVI-HDMI cable on an Orange Pi One so I run h3disp -m 1080p60 -d and restart. Monitor shows randomly moving white lines on both sides of the display (probably the console text all garbled) for a few seconds then goes to sleep. Tried with a TV (using an HDMI-HDMI cable) and it cycles between Unsupported Mode and No Signal. 1080p without the DVI flag works on the TV but the monitor doesn't even come out of sleep with it. Other resolutions seem to work fine with the DVI flag on the monitor, including 720p and 1080i. The monitor also works fine with a 1080p output from a PC. Hello, I used my cubieboard A10 to make a torrentserver with armbian. I use armbian jessie with vanilla kernel. The rootfs is on a 16gb sandisk sd-card, the download folder is on a sata ssd. I connect through ssh. When I start up the box everything runs as it should, but after approx. 5 minutes the connection drops with the cubieboard. Transmission stops and the ssh-server stops. When I then reboot, the torrents are gone and I have to reload them. the data on the ssd is still there. I tried already to limit the download speed to 2Mb/s but still the same. What can be the problem? I had a tl wr703n as a torrent box for a long time without a problem. The…

Hi there, I have 2 OPi PC+, one was with Jessie, then upgraded to Stretch, Working almost fine, only one issue was "systemctl start postgresql.service" not working. I used a workaround, "su - postgres -c 'pg_ctl start'". Postgres not from repo (previously was from repo) but compiled from source, as I need at least version 10 for "logical replication". Not at some point of time, I noticed message, that kernel package is to upgrade (3.4.112 to 3.4.113). After reboot graphics don't start. "No screens found". Ok, so I tried to upgrade (apt update, apt upgrade, apt dist-upgrade after changing name in /etc/apt/ files). Now it's almost crash: - graphics …

Since the CT (the A20 one, not the CT+) has been moved to CSC status, I've build a 22.04/jammy minimal image for my CT, and I figured I might as well share it with you. The only changes to "pure" armbian are some power management debug options in the kernel. https://github.com/IGNNE/cubietruck-armbian-unofficial/releases/tag/22.04-2022-09-09 SHA256 of zip file: 9d0028a9f5c6258a739f52f447bf4400d20fec52358f5006ae8a26b602acdfc0

I noticed that the Cubie a5e would reboot when anything that draws moderate power (>100mA) was connected to the USB3 port. Thought it was my power supply or USB cable, but after changing that out and doing some testing, I have determined that the reboot problem doesn't happen with the Radxa Bullseye image, only with the Armbian Trixie. I haven't had a chance to test older Armbian builds to see if it broke somewhere along the way, but that's what I'll do next. Hi. The following happened. When power is suddenly cut off in emmc, the file contents created by fopen (), fprintf (), fflush() and fclose () are not saved after rebooting. It seems that it has not been physically written out while being cached. If display the file before cutting off the power, the contents are correctly saved. In addition, if it is normally reboot it is saved correctly.

Hi I would like to communicate whith an arduino(as receiver) with RF 433. On a first thought I wanted to use rc-switch lib, do you know if there is a way to use it with the PI zero(transmitter) once I have installed the wiring pi zero? if not what would be my best choice as library for OPIZ (and arduino as receiver)? As MCU are better choices to drive hardware part, would it be a good idea to interface OPIZ with a ATMEGA328 as a SPI slave which one would drive the 433 RF emitter with the rc-switch lib above? This would be the overkill situation as I'm new to SPI (and OPIZ). thx

Hi, I'm using a CubieTruck running Armbian 5.8.16. /dev/ttyS2 works fine if I use the 4.19.62 dtb but not when using the 5.8.16 dtb. I am using the uart2 overlay and param_uart2_rtscts. If I try to access the port with picocom it reports "Filedes is not a tty". Commenting the param_uart2_rtscts line makes no difference. It appears that uart2 isn't being setup as a serial port when using the 5.8.16 dtb (and overlays). But the kernel must be okay because it works with the old dtb. Does anybody have a solution here ? Or can you tell me where the sources for the dtb and overlay are ? The copies on github seem old. Thanks, S…

Hello, First I would like to thank Igor for his amazing work on Armbian! I know that the Lamobo/BPI R1 is very problematic with power and SATA, but when I installed Armbian 5.1 jessie with the legacy kernel, it seems that the SATA is working fine. But when I tried the same Armbian 5.1 with vanilla kernel it wasn't able to boot and the hard drive made knocking noises. Just to make sure, I disconnected the HD and it booted fine. I think that this is a software problem (maybe uboot?) because as I mentioned it works with the older kernel. I tried installing the uboot package bananapro-next as Igor adviced someone with a banana pro but it didn't help. I'm using a good…

So you guys that have more experience, what should I be looking at, when I find some code that runs on a Raspberry Pi to verify that it will also run on the Orange Pi PC? If I find some interesting code on Github for example . Regarding GPIO I think there shouldn't be any problem, since we have WiringOPI and that py20a or how its called. But what about i2c lcd's, max7219 matrix displays, other stuff? How does it differ the compatibility of boards between python and C code?

The orange pi zero has a USB OTG interface, which can be used to interact with it in the absence of networks and spare USB-UART converters. This is not enabled by default in the Armbian image. Here I describe how to modify the system image before first boot to enable this. First, mount the freshly written SD card on a linux computer, become root, and change directory to the mount point, that is, the root directory of the SD card. The following couple of steps were taken from https://oshlab.com/enable-g_serial-usb-otg-console-orange-pi-armbian/which describes how to enable this in a live system, i.e. after first boot. The steps are modified to work on the moun…

I tried the 3.4.112 on Pi One and 3.4.113 on Pi Zero. Both have the same problem which is that no unicast packets are flowing into the macvlan device when I run tcpdump on it. The device was created like this: ip link add link eth0 address 1E:74:C0:DC:BB:01 vlan mtu 1500 type macvlan I can see inbound broadcast and multicast packets though. Outbound packets also seem fine. I can see arp request and ICMP request (if set static arp entry on PI) from the other end. Does anybody have any clue what it could it?
