I installed Armbian onto a reliable 16GB class 10 SD card, put it into an Orange Pi 3 with a 5v 3000 mA power supply (not a phone charger) and I've bumped into this error.. ALERT! /dev/mmcblk0p1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell! The armbianmonitor -u command was not found so I had to take a photo of the computer screen. I'm not sure what is going on here and I couldn't find someone who had this error on an Orange Pi 3 before. If anyone has some advice I'd love to hear it.

Hello, on Cubietruck, until I upgrade my ARMBIAN server from Jessie to Stretch with kernel 4.13.16-sunxi, I could use the VGA output for display. After the upgrade, I don't have any display from VGA. In /boot/boot.cmd, I have the following kernel bootargs : "console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait rootfstype=ext4 sunxi_ve_mem_reserve=0 sunxi_g2d_mem_reserve=0 sunxi_no_mali_mem_reserve sunxi_fb_mem_reserve=16 hdmi.audio=EDID:0 disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p60 panic=10 consoleblank=0 enforcing=0 loglevel=1" Any advice ? Thanks in advance, Romain

I compiled an environment for an Orange Pi zero using CSC, Edge , Jammy, console server, standard. I didn't change any of the defaults. Things works except for the OrangePi expansion card with dual USB ports. The expansion card USB ports are not recognized. Anyone know what I need to select to get the expansion board working?

I am listed as the community maintainer for the Banana Pi M2 Zero. I haven't actually done any maintaining but I am thinking about doing so now. But before I do, a couple of quick questions. 1) The latest build (as far as I can see), is Aug-31st, 2023. Do I have that right? Or am I missing something? 2) The main page for the Banana Pi M2 Zero (https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m2-zero/) shows a link to Armbian_community_24.11.0-trunk.273_Bananapim2zero_bookworm_current_6.6.54_minimal.img.xz which is for "Minimal/IOT images with Armbian Linux v6.6". Is that a generic build for all community maintained sunxi hardware? Or is that a specific Banana Pi M2 Zero …

Greetings - I'm trying to use the UART2 port (Connector J11 pins 1 and 2) and I'm not having much luck with Armbian 5.0 Vanilla. There are /dev/ttyS0-7 listed, but I get nothing from them (save ttyS0 which is the main console and in use by getty). I found several other articles in here talking about how to expose the GPIO pins, but I could not see how to set the "mode" of them. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Hello, I am going to buy this unit, becuase I am lookig for a cheap board with bluetooth and camera input included. NanoPi Neo Air seems to be the best choice (and the only - talking about cheap board). Anyway, did someone play with its bluetooth interface programming? I mean sending (mainly, but also recieving files) from NanoPi by bluetoot. Are there any working tools (C, python)? Thanks for any post in advance!

Very grateful to armbian to provide such a good image! Armbian has released many images that have been packaged with OMV。 I am follow this link for a long time:http://kaiser-edv.de/tmp/NumpU8/ I'm happy to see more and more mirrors available。 I used one of the images named OMV_3_0_72_Orangepiplus2e_3.4.113.7z and it works good,Special thanks to tkaiser! There is another model(Orangepiplus2) that is better suited for NAS Because it has a sata interface https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2/ Can Armbian provide OMV images of the above motherboards? At last, sorry for my poor English.

Hi guys, I have PCDuino 3 Nano which worked fine on latest ARMBIAN on Debian Jessie which is moving to EOL and armbian support for this board was dropped due to lack of devices. I have used it mainly as OMV sever with sata drive but now I migrate to a x86 install and this board will be wiped as I would like to use at as vpn server etc. What are my alternatives? I know that still are a lot of A20 boards that have armbian support. Which of them I can use and what probably won't work?

Hi, I'm working with mpd on armbian 20.02.0 with i2s device and found some problem: periodically sound is interrupted. I created a Jessie image for BananaPi with the latest / next kernel, and when booting the image, it get's stuck on "A start job is running for LSB: Raise network interfaces". It never seems to complete raising the interface, and since there is no time limit, this goes on forever. Creating a Wheezy image seems to work fine (also using latest / next kernel). Any suggestions on how I can get the Jessie image up and running? Thanks.

I have downloaded http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/test/Armbian_5.00_Bananapi_Debian_jessie_4.4.0-rc5.zip and tried OTG, as I though that it´s support was added in kernel 4.3, but it is not wokring. Is there a way to enable it? I am missing this feature, yet I do not want to go back to legacy kernel. I tried various usb peripherals and hubs, but OTG port is not powered. Thank you.

[This is a repost of my own post at orangepi.org.] Hi, I'm very excited to use the Armbian on Orange Pi One. Without rebuilding a kernel or fex file, here is how to configure the Orange Pi One governor so the "[ 150.135554] [cpu_freq] ERR:set cpu frequency to 648MHz failed!" and "[ARISC ERROR] messages no longer appear in dmesg. We will set it to 912MHz on the low end and 1200MHz on the higher end which scale up and down properly on the Orange Pi One. This is until you update your fex file and/or kernel config to use different values for the CPU frequency scaling that are a little different on the Orange Pi One than they are on the Orange Pi PC. Put it in your /e…

Hello everyone, this is my first post so please be patient. I am using armbian for a long time on my cubietruck, but this time I got a problem with my Orange Pi One. I have build a Embedded Cluster [1] out of a cubietruck, 5 Orange Pi PC and one Orange Pi One system. Since yesterday I have modified my cluster chassis. Maybe but just maybe a short circuit happened on my OPiOne because of some assembly issues I had during it's installation. The problem is that it OPiOne does not boot any more. The red and green LED are still turned off. The two LED'S of the ethernet port are always switched on. Nothing to see on a screen attached to the HDMI port. It a…

Hi, I have recently called apt-get upgrade (with my regular installation and also with a fresh one) and after trying to extract armbian-firmware (I think it was that name but I'm not totally sure) dpkg returns an error. Hi friends, I am using armbian on orangepi lite and it is brilliant! My orange pi zero is on the way. One question - sometimes I want to make wifi AP from my armbian and sometimes I want armbian to be wifi client. Now it connects successfully to my wifi as a client. I am looking for terminal commands to switch between modes (AP vs. client) on the fly. Any ideas how to do it? Ideally I would like to run two commands: - one command to act as wifi AP (with specified wifi name, password, etc.) - second command to act as wifi client (to connect to specific network with password, etc.) Any idea how to do it, please? P.S. LAN port (on orange pi zero) should always…

New toys to play The NanoPi Neo Core and Core2 are the Core-PCB without Connectors. Only Pin-holes in 2.54mm Pitch. But as the Pictures did show - there will be a Docking-Board like on the NanoPi Duo The price for the normal NanoPi Neo jumps from $7,99 to $9,99 and the new Neo Core now costs $7,99 (256MB and no eMMC) BUT has optional - also like the Neo Core2 (here 8GB default) - 8GB eMMC (512MB and 8GB eMMC = +$10 on the $7,99 Neo Core) The Neo Core2 does cost $24,99 but do have 1GB of Ram and (default) 8GB of eMMC (more options later). (long description show also - a obsolete? - option for only 512MB. But the board…

Both Pi´s are not reachable over SSH maybe 15 Minutes after boot. Direct after the boot SSH is working. Other Services like ping and the installed snmp deamon are working pretty well. Only SSH access stops working after maybe 15 Minutes. There is nothing connected to the OPIS. Is there a known problem with SSH deamon? Greets and thx for help …

I have an Orange Pi Zero that had an uptime of well over a year monitoring the output of some solar panels and the state of charge of a battery. It then switches a couple of relays in response to these measurements. It has been really reliable for 2 years, never crashing or rebooting until now. At the beginning of September it started to stop working, it has no monitor or keyboard, only a cat5 cable, so when I say stop working, I mean it stops logging to the nfs drive, stops switching the relays, stops responding to pings and any ssh sessions timeout. It does this every few days, around 6:30 am, and I then have to power cycle it to get it to work a…

I recently created some new images using the most recent armbian scripts. For some reason my Jessie image is not coming up (see my other thread regarding network not coming up), but I did managed to get a wheezy image up and running on my BananaPi using latest / next. The problem I am having is the partition size is extremely small (about 500-600MB) and does not appear to be resize to fully utilize the SD card. It's been a long while since I created an image, but I vaguely remember the image resizing to maximize the SD card space. I basically had to manually resize the image by deleting and recreating the partition. Is there some way to specify the image size …

Hi There, I hope I posted this in the correct forum. We run a lot of distros on a given "disk" or "sdcard" (or whatever). We call our system "Boot-Crazy". Here goes: The partition starts with a small boot partition containing the initial boot parameters, configuration, and a pointer to the partition holding the root file system we want to boot. The boot partition is followed by some number of other partitions, like this: [bOOT]-[sWAP]-[COMMON]-[COPYOF-DISTO-1-BOOT]-[DISTO-1-ROOT-FILE-SYSTEM]-[COPYOF-DISTO-2-BOOT]-[DISTO-2-ROOT-FILE-SYSTEM]... Armbian (as downloaded for the BananaPi-M2) is simply one large partition, like this: [armbia…

The heartbeat LED flashed really fast and after 30 minutes I elected to stop it. Has anyone succeeded doing apt-get dist-upgrade today to get the new kernel on the Orange Pi PC or Orange Pi One, and, if so, how long did it take? The packages are: linux-firmware-image-sun8i linux-headers-sun8i linux-image-sun8i linux-jessie-root-orangepih3 linux-u-boot-orangepih3-default Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

If the answer is yes, what should happen in this example? If the answer is no ,what can use instead of wiringPiISR ?

I am experiencing serious problems with booting Armbian on OrangePi Lite. I flashed SD card with a fresh image of Armbian_5.20_Orangepilite_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.img At the first boot it always freezes right after this line: Started WPA supplicant. It stays there forever and I have no choice but power off the system. At each subsequent boot the system freezes very frequently but at different lines so again I need to reset it. However sometimes it succeeds at the second boot and I am able to login as root and then create new user and enter the desktop after that. I was very happy that it finally started and everything was working fine (inc…

I realize there have been a few topics on this, but it seems to me that this was considered fixed. When using 5.23 with a 4.8 kernel, the MAC address was stable. After upgrading to 5.25, the MAC address was still the same as before. However after an outage, the two boards running 5.25 came up with a new MAC address (two boards still running 5.23 came up with the same MAC address). Then the MAC address seems to change every boot. The problem is that the FiOS router (an ActionTec) I have remembers both the machine name and the MAC address (it nicely creates a DNS entry). If the same name appears with a different MAC address, it ignores the name from DHCP and cre…

I'm working in a project that needs to use 12 GPIO pins (plus serial!) on the Orange Pi Zero. To achieve that, I need to disable at least one of the I2C interfaces in the 26-pin header. Following the instructions on https://linux-sunxi.org/I2Cdev, I have decompiled, edited and recompiled /boot/config.bin, but I still can't access any of the pins used by the I2C ports. Specifically, what I have done is to edit the decompiled script.bin.fex file, and in sections named [twi0] and [twi1], changed twi_used=1 to twi_used=0. After that, running a simple program that sets the pins to input and reads its status allways returns 1, even if the pin is connected to ground or…

Hello, I want to use the Banana Pi for VDR and need a dvb device - Geniatech T230 for example. Therefore I need i2c_mux enabled. On the 8. May 2017 I created a sd-card-image with your tool (virtualbox, ubuntu and "git clone https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib --depth 1"), everything works fine. :-) But I forget to enable the remote controller adapter in the kernel... O.k., I started to rerun all the things and created a new sd-card-image. But the network is out of funktion. :-( The system doesn't reach the dhcp-server. The network with a static ip-adress is out of function, too. Anything was changed on the system, wasn't it? The…

I should probably start a new thread for this but it seemed appropriate to post here at this time of nght.. So the OPi Zero Plus 2 boards arrived and I duly set up the image on a 8GB SD card, connected the serial TTL to USB adapter and booted. Everything came up fine so I set up the wifi to my local network using nmtui. Again no problems. I did an apt-get update and upgrade and rebooted, all OK again. Having SSHed into the device I get very sluggish performance and pinging from another machine on the lan I see hugely variable pings ie variations from a few ms to over a second. I installed wavemon and it shows a very strong wifi signal (as expected). The ping…

Hi, first of all thanks a lot for every contributor, this is a great project, I'm an absolute fan! I'm running Armbian on an orange pi 2, everything works fine for a while. I'm running a homegrown python script with flask, this one works too. But after ~1-x hours, I can't connect anymore to my web service. This could be my problem, but in fact, neither SSH works. So I found these things, my script tells me this: ---------------------------------------- Exception happened during processing of request from ('192.168.0.158', 59734) Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.7/SocketServer.py", line 290, in …

I have an Orange Pi One, with Armbian installed. *sometimes* when I log in it displays: "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi" Then some system statistics and a line with the CPU temperature, for example: "CPU temp: 58ºC" I can also get the current temperature with armbianmonitor -m or reading a file called "temp" in a directory under /etc/system (I don't remember the full path now). If I log in again, I see again the temperature in the welcome message, running armbianmonitor or reading the aforementioned file. Until I shutdown and boot again. Then, all 3 methods of getting t…

Armbian Legacy 5.56 Kernel 3.10 boots and installs to the eMMC (as long as ext2fs is picked). Armbian Dev 5.56 Kernel 4.19 does not boot from the SD Card at all (power LED and black screen). I don't have the serial console adapter (yet) so I don't know if there is something useful there.

I have tested Armbian_19.11.3_Orangepipc2_bionic_current_5.3.9 and Armbian_19.11.3_Orangepipc2_buster_current_5.3.9 images from the official download site. The Debian Buster image is fast and stable. The Ubuntu Bionic build have random hangs on different boot positions. Sometimes works, but after reboot it hangs again randomly. I have burned the the images to the same microsd card. (Toshiba 32GB) I have tested with other microsd cards like Sandisk Extreme 32GB, Samsung EVO+ 32GB. I have the same results. The power supply is enough for the board. (5V 4A) This is not my first orangepi board, so I know how to burn the images to the sdcards. screenlog.bionic.0 (problems)…

Hello, I just started to use my old BananaPi M1 (Armbian 23.8 Bookworm) to check sensor values by onewire and i2c. At last there was no problem with onewire But I cannot get I2c to work. /boot/armbianEnv.txt overlay_prefix=sun7i-a20 overlays=i2c2 w1-gpio param_w1_pin=PI3 For onewire I had to define "param_w1_pin=PI3" even if my onewire sensor is connected to GPIO7. for I2C I checked "lsmod | grep i2c" but couldnt find anything. So ieven if it is not correctly activated, I could run "i2cdetect -y 2" and could find my sensor at 0x76 but couldnt communicate with it. I think I need to load "i2c-bcm2708 i2c-dev". Ho…

For a lark I wanted to see if a BPi would do as a softsynth. I started with the very nice 2.9 Jessie image* and 4.x kernel, but noticed only then that there's no sound, so I installed the 3.4 packages. After booting, ALSA seems to be working fine wrt line sound output and mixer. I could also play MIDI files with fluidsynth fine and hear clear audio on headphones. Connecting a USB MIDI keyboard also gets detected and its ports show up. Now, fluidsynth as a server won't start and neither does jackd. Both seem to complain about missing /dev/snd/seq. So I'm wondering if there's a kernel module or option missing or if it's an artifact of there being no actual MIDI synt…

Dear Forum, First of all thank you for being a member here. Second is that I would need some help on selecting an image for my present CT board. I need the followings: 1. hostapd with dnsmasq 2. g_mass_storage 3. sata 4.spidev or equivalent Preferably: 3. I would need free up SD card slot, so nand or SATA boot would be preferred. Which image is the best for me even if I need to recompile it? Thank you in advance.

At first i like to say that this problem is not caused by Armbian. On my OpiPC+ my EMMC has became unusuable. I got a first hint to this by updating 5.17 Jessie Desktop to 5.20, that failed after downloading 135 MB of Files. I did not thought of an Error and compiled 5.20 myself, put it on SDcard and run nand-sata-install. The Script does it work without any Errors, but after power down, the Opi did not come up again. Put in the SDcard again and tried to look at the EMMC but it was not mountable. There were some Errors fixed by running fsck but next time i tried to write on the Emmc i got Errors again, in fact i tried to run nand-sata-install again after i trie…

Hi guys, I tried to disable console output on uart0 using this guide https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Fine-Tuning/#how-to-toggle-boot-output But I still get boot output on uart0. Problem is, that I'm using uart0 for a java application. Java application crashes a few seconds after starting. I got the hint, that I should disable console output on this port, to make it working. See here: http://pi4j.com/example/serial.html I think that's the problem, because if I unplug my serial device from uart0, java app doesn't crash. I'm using Banana Pi. Kernel is Verison 4.8.12. Armbian is Jessie 5.24 with desktop. How can I disable the output? Yours, Martin

Hello there! Its nice to meet everyone and thank you so much for having me! I have this great project i'm working on involving 30 orange pi zeros. You see SD cards are expensive when you need to buy 30 of them so I have been trying for about a month now to make armbian work without the SD card. The idea is to boot into the os get a few things running and then remove the card and boot another pi. I have tried creating a ramfs mount and copying/mounting (what I believe are) all the requirements and then using chroot. But that doesnt work at all. I'm imagining that outside of chroot services are still running and once they cant write to some file…

Hi, just a question to be discussed: Would it... 1. ...be possible to use F2FS as default filesystem for images using the vanilla kernel? 2. ...make sense to use it? benchmarks show that write operations could get a huge boost in comparison to ext4. i believe write operations are quite slow right now (using cubietruck with sd-card) What do you think?

Hi, after upgrading my Cubietruck it failed to boot from SSD. I suspect this has something to do with the causes discussed here: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/690-upgrade-error-with-armbian-500-on-cubieboard2-running-from-nand/?hl=boot#entry5649 and / or a proper installation of the 'board support packages'. I got the same failure message as mentioned above: FEHLER: unable to make backup link of `./boot/bin/cubieboard.bin' before installing new version: Operation not permitted Directory /boot from nand1 was mounted during upgrade. I thought the solution would be to boot from SD to SSD an fix the issues. So I changed boot.cmd accordingly …

Here's the script I'm using to test: #!/bin/bash cd /sys/kernel/config/usb_gadget mkdir g1 cd g1 echo "0x1d6b" > idVendor echo "0x0104" > idProduct mkdir strings/0x409 echo "1234567890" > strings/0x409/serialnumber echo "0x1d6b" > strings/0x409/manufacturer echo "0x0104" > strings/0x409/product mkdir functions/hid.usb0 echo 1 > functions/hid.usb0/protocol echo 1 > functions/hid.usb0/subclass echo 8 > functions/hid.usb0/report_length /bin/echo -ne \\x05\\x01\\x09\\x06\\xa1\\x01\\x05\\x07\\x19\\xe0\\x29\\xe7\\x15\\x00\\x25\\x01\\x75\\x01\\x95\\x08…

Hello everyone, First of all, I'm sorry for my English. I'll do my best. Currently armbian is installed in the mmc (although I tried the same test with a sd memory). Now, with lscpu I can see that only cpu0 is enabled; 1-3 are off. When I try: sudo echo '1' | Sudo tee / sys / devices / system / cpu / cpu1 / online to activate cpu1, shell replies with: online: Permission denied I'm looking for options on root permissions or sysfs mount options; For now, I can not find a solution. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, I trying to record transport stream from USB DVB-T card, but I have some problem with dvbstream. Card work well with mumudvb. Currently I'm using Armbian Ubuntu Xenial on H3 (Orange Pi PC), unfortunately dvbstream (installed from repository) don't want to lock fronted to desire frequency, while dvbtune (0.5.ds-1) (installed from the same repository ) work fine. In this case I downloaded dvbtune (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/dvbtune_0.5.ds.orig.tar.gz) from source, but after compile not want to work. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? why dvbtune not work after compilation? Thank You.
