  1. Hello, I have a strange behavior with my nanopi r2s. I got the official armbian (buster) image with Openmediavault and docker along with portainer. I run qBittorrent as a container. When i start a torrent download the r2s crashes sporadically. The issue is observable only when a torrent is being downloaded..The crash happens sometimes almost immediately after boot up when the download process is resumed, but sometimes it can take a whille. Sometimes it is event possible to complete the download. I've got a nice class 10 sandisc 32 gb and a 256 SSD plugged in a usb 3.0 dock with external power supply. The r2s power is also pretty good but tested with different …

  2. Started by MikrySoft,

I have a strange problem with my R2S. I grabbed latest buster and focal images, burned them using Balena Etcher onto a pair of 32GB SanDisk Extreme Cards and neither is booting. Serial console shows that boot process gives up waiting for root file system and drops me into initramfs shell. Looking into /dev, I see no mmcblk0 device (or any other block device apart from loops). If I now eject and re-insert the card, the device shows up. If I do it during boot process, while the board is still waiting for rootfs, boot process continues correctly. Reboots are fine, but if I unplug the board for longer than a second it's back to initramfs for me. …

Hi, Have the r2s for some time and it worked well in the beginning. But then it started to freeze randomly. The logs do not have any error in it. Initially I thought it could be the interface drive problem, changed the interface and still freezes. When the r2s is frozen, serial port won't respond. Keeping serial connection and restarting the r2s, boot messages show normally. When I keep the serial connected, r2s do not freeze (tried for more than a week). Found this other post, not sure if this is the same problem as it does boot, but seems related. mUSB serial connection rarely works. Have to boot some times until it works. Although I am an exp…

Received my SBC today, installed armbian and run quick tests Runs very hot (in stock yellow case). Throttles under load and can not run at full 1500Mhz Below results on armbian measured with armbianmonitor -m power measured from the wall 71C / 2.5W / 600Mhz idle 85C / 3.7W / 1000Mhz under load (stress -c 4) I also tested without case and results are better but still it throttles under full load. Ambient temperature was about 25C Is this just me and my unit has faulty heatsink or you also observe similar results? Any ideas on how to fix this? I have recently started working with a NanoPi R2S. I have it booting from the built-in microSD. However, I would like to be able to boot off of USB. When I interrupt u-boot and start USB on the board, it finds the hub but does not seem to find *any* device. I have tried various USB sticks of different sizes and brands, and a few ordinary devices such as a mouse. Nothing. Is this a known problem? Should it be able to work? Thanks

  8. I'm running armbian 10.5 (kernel 5.8.6-rockchip64) on my new NanoPi R2S. I configured it as a router: lan0 (USB ethernet) is the LAN interface, eth0 (real ethernet) is the wan interface, ip forwarding enabled. On the LAN subnet I put a iperf3 client, on the WAN subnet I put a iperf3 server. Launching iperf -c _server_ip_ on the client is ok, I can reach 830Mbps, but launching iperf with -R (reverse) makes the lan0 interface to reset/disconnect. I can find the following logs in the kernel: Sep 8 20:53:32 gw kernel: [ 611.981696] ------------[ cut here ]------------ Sep 8 20:53:32 gw kernel: [ 611.981726] NETDEV WATCHDOG: lan0 (…

I installed Armbian on my R5s Armbian 23.8 Bookworm Kernel 6.5, Size: 479Mb, Release date: Sep 18, 2023 On this version, I find the classical problem : a module I want to build does not build. Reason ? apt says : Coundn’t find any package by glob ‘linux-headers-6.5.3-edge-odroid’ And make creates an error because “build” directory is not found. I can find the linux-headers-6.5.3 : https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v6.x/linux-6.5.3.tar.gz But where can I find the odroid version ?

  15. On my NanoPi R6C I downloaded the Armbian 23.11 Bookworm CLI and booted the machine from the SD card. Then I installed gnome and firefox. Most things works so far, but I get no sound over hdmi (there is no headphone jack). The gnome - settings - sound shows only the dummy device. Youtube videos play ok, but somewhat laggy and with very high processor load (all cores close to 100% on the gnome system monitor).

My mistake was that I did not know what it meant that M.2 was SHARED before I purchased this enclosure and now, I have a need to expand beyond the measly 16GB of your eMMC and I found out THE PAINFUL WAY that IT IS NOT POSSIBLE because of the shared SATA port. I rebooted again, to create a bootlog file, and I saw the same. Then suddenly, after a minute or so, I saw network activity, and my Helios64 was back. Now I have 3 questions. 1) Why didn't it boot twice, and then succeeded? 2) Why is there no kernel bootlog? 3) What is an unhandled SMC? The log ended with …

I was planning to put the new ubuntu with KDE that showed up one month ago, and since a few days, it is not available anymore, there is only the trixie minimal. And when i have a disk connected towards usb 3.0 i have issues with port usb 2.0, it doesn't work well and I end up disconnecting the USB 3.0 to can work with my device connected towards USB 2.0 so I assume that the current power on the USB port is having issues or it's not working well. 64. Hey guys, looks like there's no support for board serial number in latest images for Station M2. Serial number on rk356x is coming from otp memory, so: 1) there are no bindings for `otp` and `cpuinfo` devices in .dts, like here 2) there are no kernel driver to extract data from otp memory, like here I'm ready to contribute, but not sure what's the future plan for those.

Do you think this is possible ? Or will OpenMediaVault 6 not be available from armbian-config? As I write this post, the latest image available for Helios64 is Armbian_21.05.9_Helios64_bullseye_current_5.10.63.img.xz I thank you for your help Flolm

  91. Hi! I'm trying to create a vpn access point with a Rock64. I'm receving a low speeds with openvpn but the openssl tests show that there is crypto acceleration. I'm new to all of this. I assume the vpn speeds would be much higher since crypto extensions are enabled in armbian, that's why I choose the Rock64 and Armbian. This is the openssl test: openssl speed -evp aes-256-cbc Doing aes-256-cbc for 3s on 16 size blocks: 14416568 aes-256-cbc's in 3.00s Doing aes-256-cbc for 3s on 64 size blocks: 10625804 aes-256-cbc's in 3.00s Doing aes-256-cbc for 3s on 256 size blocks: 4907054 aes-256-cbc's in 3.00s Doing aes-256-cbc for 3s on 1024 size blocks: 1594735 aes-256-cbc's i…

Hi guys, I have recently bought a Rock64 to improve the performance of my VPN gateway. First tests look very promising as you can see here: root@rock64:~# openssl speed -evp aes-128-cbc -elapsed You have chosen to measure elapsed time instead of user CPU time. Doing aes-128-cbc for 3s on 16 size blocks: 15394610 aes-128-cbc's in 2.99s Doing aes-128-cbc for 3s on 64 size blocks: 12591175 aes-128-cbc's in 3.00s Doing aes-128-cbc for 3s on 256 size blocks: 6719021 aes-128-cbc's in 3.00s Doing aes-128-cbc for 3s on 1024 size blocks: 2448108 aes-128-cbc's in 3.00s Doing aes-128-cbc for 3s on 8192 size blocks: 352617 aes-128-cbc's in 3.00s Doing aes-128-c…

  93. I finally have openZFS loading as a module with modprobe (still need to test that it's actually working correctly, but so far so good...) I'm using the Armbian Lunar CI rolling release since there is a working Linux-Header for this kernel https://imola.armbian.com/beta/pool/main/l/linux-headers-midstream-rockchip-rk3588/ After that, I essentially followed the instructions for building openZFS, but some minor changes to the META file for license and max kernel version. I want to say thank you to all the Armbian team members for making such an amazing platform for SBCs. All my boards run Armbian. here was the config command …

is it intended to integrate openzfs-2.0.0 and if so, is the timing already known?

  95. I think i messed up with armbian-config, namely with 'system' sub section. I noticed that lately the only images that boot are armbian with kernel 6.9.x Nothing, i say nothing with a lower kernel number would boot -- even those SD cards that were good last time i tried them. None of orangepi factory images boot. In and out of itself, it is not a problem. Yet. But what if something changes in a future?

  96. Brand new out of box, the wireless works fine on the orange android os. I then downloaded the orange os aarch64 image and installed. It was the latest. Wireless did not work, but after a couple lines of code/commands it did. I had to add a line to the orangepienv.txt file that was dealing with overlays. After that and a reboot it worked fine. BUT it is seriously boxed in. That is, because of lack of aarch64 support I could not download what I needed...so I tried debian which worked ok, but had issues with processing streaming video over 480p...anything higher I was having screen stutter and ripping plus their was artifacts everywhere. Finally I settled on Armbian,…

  97. I had some troubles with the latest build (Armbian_23.05.0-trunk_Orangepi5_lunar_legacy_5.10.110). First I had to restore the 5b specific device tree (rk3588s-orangepi-5b.dts) because with the modified rk3588s-orangepi-5.dts the Wi-Fi and the eMMC doesn't work. So far everything works fine with the exception of the bluetooth. After each boot I have to manually attach it: hciattach /dev/ttyS9 any ...otherwise the hci_uart module is not loaded and no hci device is available. Once attached the bluetooth works fine and I can pair my mouse with it, but not my bluetooth keyboard?!? Seems like the adapter doesn't even detect the keyboard. W…

  98. EDIT/UPDATE : I just carried on punching the requested information which Armbian usually ask at fresh install/boot..with my every key pressed console kept on emitting errors BUT ultimately it f…

  99. Using Armbian bionic (Ubuntu 18.04) on a Orange PI4, hostapd does not run as service. Neither at startup, nor when stopped and restarted manually. However, starting it from command line works fine?
