Hello, i have a litte problem with my armbian/helios. I use a usb hdd for "backup" (snapraid parity) that only need to run every 2 days so that i unmount the drive and put this in standby (hdparm -y /dev) All goes well but after some time the drive awake again (without mount) and i dont know how i can prefent this. does anyone have an idea where I can look thanks for help.

  3. Hello! First of all I want to thank everyone in Armbian for making OS that works, I am testing Armbian Jammy 23.2.7 Cinamon Desktop and so far it is much better than ones from FE. My intentions are using R6C as Home Assistant server (that works), NAS, Kodi Multimedia player with audio passthrough. But important question this time is how correctly to transfer OS from 32Gb SD card to built in 32Gb eMMC memory? I was trying several times sudo nand-sata-install method, but every time while "Cleaning up ... Almost done." it finishes with error: Error while creating U-Boot loader image with mkimage grep: /mnt/nand-sata-install.YRXC4e/bootf…

Hi, I want to do a NAS RAID(4,1) with the M4 with SATA hat. This thing is f... damned fast with SAMBA. I meassured 60MB/s with a 1.5TB 2.5" drive I had just laying around. OK, I forgot to mention that I installed Armbian. It's been three years since my last attempt to build a useful PC with AARCH64 and many things happened meanwhile. Looks like the time has come finally. (To say good bye to x86 and Windows.) Can someone point me to a direction before I gonna buy four SSDs?

  5. I once had openmediavault (nas software) and citadel-server (groupware software) running together on an x86 computer with Debian operating system. When I try this on Helios64 running armbian (Debian 10 Buster) and kernel 5.8, then the package manager does not allow it. That means, when I start with an installed openmediavault and want then to install citadel-server as well the package manager removes openmediavault first. Does anybody have an idea or a solution to the problem?

Hi, I have an issue with an USB device which is not detected; looking on other forum, it seems that additional modules shall be added: - cdc_acm,cdc_ether - rndis_host - rndis_wlan - usbnet I'm not able to load these using the modprobe cmd & checking loaded modules with lsmode cmd. I suspect that they are not part of the kernel. Any hint how to solve this, eventually recompile / install ? Thanks by advance, Samuel

  9. Hi, I'm currently facing strange problems... I'm using NanoPi and operate some USB devices with it. Since I wanted to know the total power consumption of the system, I measured current which flows into NanoPi from the outlet. The current during while the camera working was very nice (about 1A) so I shut the pi down. Then, I found that the total current value gradually rose up from about 1A to 1.5A. This seems to be so strange because when it gets shutdown, the power should be off as well, and the pi only needs small amount of power just to light the red LED. I tried a few times but the result was always same... …

  14. I have been trying to compile some packages that do work on the x86 platform and versions of Ubuntu and Debian but it seems like this define is missing so the program in question cannot compile a specific syscall in the file. Is SYS_getdents defined in the standard location unistd.h? I looked at the header but had some difficulties working through some of the defines. Thanks, Carter.

I install armbian on the sd card, then insert it into firefly ROC-RK3328-CC. At the start, it flashes quickly 2 times, makes a small pause and flashes quickly 2 more times. Before that, it worked correctly, but I decided to reinstall the system and got this problem. I tried to install the system from firefly, as a result, only debian 9 worked, but it also worked with problems (at the first launch it reached the desktop, after rebooting and connecting the keyboard and mouse, it did not go beyond tty).

I have a Rock64, purchased in 2019, that has been running happily for 4 years. I was recently experimenting with hooking it up to a relay board and now I am unable to connect to the internet. I am unsure whether something is fried on the board itself or if this is a software problem I can fix, and unsure how to figure that out. According to the official documentation, the PCM functionality should be available on physical pins 12 (GPIO4_A6), 35 (GPIO3_C2), 38 (GPIO3_C0), and 40 (GPIO3_B7) of the GPIO header. Hi All! I've recently moved to Armbian (Debian buster server) on my Rock Pi 4B - from Ubuntu provided by Radxa (some way failed upgrade). However system is booting from eMMC which has Radxa kernel and then directly to Armbian file system on SSD connected via USB 3.0. Great is that Armbian is working with Radxa kernel, which I want to change to 5.8.14-rockchip64. My question is how should I prepare /boot folder on eMMC (which is FAT file system) to boot Armbian kernel? Is there any other way (reformat eMMC for ext4@32768 sector for /boot folder) to achieve this? Thanks.

Earlier I had Debian and Ubuntu provided by Radxa and recently speed has gone from 115 MB/s to ~12 MB/s. I moved to Armbian which is currently available for download. 31. Hi. I'm using an OrangePi RK3399 and if the power supply from the 12V barrel jack is removed, the LTE module connected to the mPCIE port dies. Does anybody know how to make the mPCIE port work while on battery? The mPCIE dying is due to the port being powered from the main power supply line VBUS from the barrel jack (before the BQ25700a battery charger IC, according to the board's schematics). I don't know why power is not supplied from VSYS like everything else on the board. So, what I've found is that if I want to power the mPCIE port from the battery, the reverse OTG mode from the BQ25700a battery charger IC would need to be set (allowing voltage to flow from the bat…

The bootloader on the board and the _original_ kernel use non-standard 1500000 baudrate serial speed for the console. I haven't looked into Armbian's guts yet, but I assume it's a matter of right kernel boot arguments for this board to actually spit out kernel output over serial. What I'm not sure is if the console can be cloned between serial and UI over HDMI (console on the frame buffer if I'm right). I'm open to…

Hi Folks, I'm testing the M4 board with Armbian Buster, I'm having the following problems with the GPIO: How can I use gpio without root? I've checked and there isn't a /dev/gpiomem device so I can give permissions to other users. Only a few of the GPIO pins can be set. Most of them don't show up as configurable through gpio readall. A few of them show as ALT and although I can change their mode (input / output), I cannot change/read their value, it seems those are shared with i2c-3, so this can be the problem, but I don't know how to disable i2c-3 and use them. Also, can all the 6 cores work at the same time? Or the BIG.little architecture…

  47. Hello, I'm running Armbian Community 26.8.0 / kernel 6.18.35-current-rockchip64 CPU is quite hot, 56-60 C even when idling; it used to be around 43-45 C on the BSP image. I have a passive cooler mounted. So I added a fan and connected to the FAN header, but it does not spin. I seem to remember a "fan control" overlay within armbian-config for other boards, but it's not present here. Any suggestion? It's a nice board but it's too hot with Armbian 😕 Thanks!

  48. I am using a Linux rockpi-4cplus with 5.15.93-rockchip64 (bullseye). I plan to use SPI1 (GPIO1_A7, GPIO1_B0, GPIO1_B1, GPIO1_B2), and then add in a 2nd device on this SPI bus via a custom CS GPIO pin (GPIO4_D5). I could not find the corresponding script file (.DTS) online (on Github) associated with the object file (rockchip-spi-spidev.dtbo). Please could someone point me to it - I can only find files for "sunxi-DT-overlays". So I decided to create my own DTS file, as follows: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { fragment@0 { target = <&spi1>; __overlay__ { #address-cells = <1>; …

  49. Hey, I have uninstalled cron from my system completely, but I just thought I might help contribute, even just a little, by making some services and timer files to replace the ones in these folders: /etc/cron.d /etc/cron.daily /etc/cron.hourly /etc/cron.weekly Now keep in mind that I have not fully tested any of these yet! I would appreciate feedback in testing these, since most of these I won't even use on my system. I barely even use the armbian-config utility at all, so... yeah... The files in question are these. I can outline the issue in this thread, but I would rather have this post get moderated and get directed into the right spot to ask about specifically the Turing RK-1 or more generally "weird boards that have RK3588s that aren't already listed".

  51. Please, I need an img of Armbian compatible with the following: RK3399T and with HDMI. I have tried all versions of Armbian and they do not work. Some do, but the problem is that it does not display an image. I believe it could be the HDMI. The most preferable versions for me are Armbian Noble or Bookworm. 53. I'm trying to get this rockpro64 board to boot off of pxe/nfs. I'm able to get it to boot into armbian and to the point where it asks for the new root password. But something happens on the device where the network gets disabled which stops the NFS connectivity and the rest of the system with it. All traffic stops on the device and it becomes unreachable. NFS traffic stops, it no longer responds to pings, etc. It's not entirely frozen, for example it prints kernel messages to console if the ethernet is pulled. And after a few minutes the nfs connection times out and it starts printing this over and over. It always happens about 75 seconds…

I have managed to get my display back, Im not sure about my panel yet. I had restore my device tree overlay. Ive hacked around losing the nvme. But it would be good to get my nvme drive back. I've got some work to do to deal with not having that storage and what was on it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Alternatively, maybe it's not too hard to roll back to 6.1? I haven't contemplated that.

  87. Installed the image Armbian_20.08.1_Rockpi-4b_buster_current_5.8.6.img.xz . Then, in armbian-config -> Software, I had installed linux headers + source. I got two new directories: linux-headers-5.7.15-rockchip64 linux-source-5.7.15-rockchip64 If I execute: uname - r I get: root@pi:~# uname -r 5.8.6-rockchip64 The kernel version and installed source/headers are not the same, so they are useless. How to get the correct source/headers? EDIT: When first boot, the OS asked for locale/timezone settings, I did hit ENTER as default and it set the locale language to Slovene. When doing apt-get up…

  88. GPU can perform far better than CPU cores for certain applications. Computer vision is one of them. Orange Pi 5 GPU has 64 shading cores. It runs up to 19 times faster than 8 CPU cores combined for computer vision models. Armbian on Orange Pi 5 supports OpenCL driver for compute-intensive GPU programs. To install OpenCL on Orange Pi 5 Armbian, follow the instructions in the following link; Install OpenCL on Orange Pi 5 Armbian

  89. Per the title, I was able to extract an ftb file and convert it to dtb and dts file. I would like to use the community build framework and build Armbian for SV06 Ace. The initial plan was to base the new board/*csc files on other rk3308b boards; sakurapi and rock-s0 and then pull configuration values from the OEM dts file. I'm confused about the dts structure in Community builds and the proper locations for defconfig, dts and dtsi files. I've worked with the files in OpenWRT where they are rigidly structured - something that would be a monumental task for Armbian community builds. The OEM dts file does not use any includes/dtsi fi…

  91. I’m using an Orange Pi 3B running Armbian Trixie Minimal as a headless SBC. It has been working fine for a couple of months, but after a recent reboot, it failed to connect to the network. After connecting an HDMI cable to troubleshoot, I realized the system is no longer auto logging in; it gets stuck at the login screen. Once I log in manually, I found that the wired network (Ethernet) isn't working at all, though wireless is functioning fine. I even tried flashing the latest image from the website, but the issues persist. To summarize, I have two main problems: - Wired connection (Ethernet) is not working. - The system no longer auto-logs in after bo…

  92. Hi, I would like to enable 4K output for my new monitor connected to a NanoPi M4V2 running Armbian based on Ubuntu Bionic legacy. I have searched for some days now, but could not find a solution. I would be very glad, if someone could just point me to the right direction on how to configure the Armbian desktop environment for 4K.

  93. People, help install the system on eMMC Rock Pi 4 Bv 1.3. Installed the system "Arabian_20. 05.4_Rocky-4b_focal_current_5. 4. 46_desktop" on SD, installed eMMC on the Board, started the system and updated it. Then I tried two options for transferring the system to emc: 1) (https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/) sudo nano-sata-install - dd if= / dev/zero of= / dev/mmcblk2 bs=1024 seek=8 count=1; 2) armbian-config - boot from SD, system on SATA / USB. But both options failed. I read here two branches with a discussion of this problem, but I did not succeed. But this is because I am not a very experienced Linux user. Please give me a n…

  94. Hi, I installed Armbian Bookworm Minimal CLI on my Rock 5b and followed the instructions on this post to get the fan to work properly. Specifically, git clone https://github.com/lukaszsobala/fan-control-rock5b cd fan-control-rock5b make package sudo dpkg -i fan-control*.deb sudo systemctl enable fan-control systemctl start fan-control However, the software won't start. When trying to run it manually, I get, $ sudo /usr/sbin/fan-control pwmchip: 0 gpio: 0 pwm-period: 20000 temp-map: speed: 0, temp: 20, duty: 8400, duration: 10 speed: 1, temp: 50, duty: 9600, duration: 2 speed: 2, temp: 60, duty: 10800, duration: 2 speed: 3, temp: 70, …

  95. Good afternoon. I have a Rockchip 3566 tablet.oscal pad 70 wifi I'm writing using Google Translate, so there may be some inaccuracies... I apologize for that! motherboard R863T-RK3566-DK-V1.0 wifi module wxt42j1001s - driver for android only I understand it's probably very difficult...isn't the processor too old for our times? Or is installing Armbian probably not an option? Thanks from the bottom of my heart to everyone who responded.

Hi! I'm having trouble with hdmi display and armbian focal on rock64. All works with simple office hdmi displays but fails with an open frame display connected using hdmi->dvi cable. Even the boot messages do not display and the display goes into power saving mode. 100. I'm working on enabling secure boot on Orange Pi 4B. So far I was able to burn eFuses, sign rk loader, a trust image, and a uboot image. To extend secure boot chain to the Linux Kernel, I've enabled FIT_SIGNATURE in u-boot, and manually built FIT image (Linux Kernel, initramfs(initrd), and a kernel DTB). Now I want to add FIT image creation to the Armbian build system. What is the correct place/script to do it?
