Last night I shutdown my Helios 64 (sudo shutdown now) but when i went to boot it this morning, after startup it looks to be hung, all blue lights solidly on. It's set to run from the micro SD card, so wondering if i hit a R/W limit on that. Hi, everyone. The Kobo site is kind of difficult to navigate if you're looking for relevant information, but I came to the conclusion that this is the right place for support. Forgive me if I'm mistaken. I was wondering if someone could help me interpret these bootlogs from serial term when trying to boot my Helios64 from the EMMC. Following the instructions on Kobol's site, I flashed their u-boot image to an sd card, booted the Helios64 off of said sd, fetched the latest image of Armbian, unpacked that image, and flashed it from my laptop to the Helios64 via usbc to what I presume is the correct interface. Could it be that I messed up? Here's a quick example …

(Note: this is crossposted from an ATS issue, since I think it might be quicker to get answers here. Will post on one thread when I get answers that work in the other) Have installed ats on my Rock64, running Armbian 22.05 Jammy with kernel version 5.10.63, and am having trouble getting the fan to spin. The fan I'm using is the one that comes with this case, and it spins when I connect it to a battery. One possible issue is that I had to manually add an entry for PWM_CTL: running sudo find /sys -name pwm\*, I get: /sys/kernel/tracing/events/pwm /sys/kernel/tracing/events/pwm/pwm_apply /sys/kernel/tracing/events/pwm/pwm_get /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/p…

  5. Hello to everybody ! I'm new to this forum and to linux. After installing my Helios64 recently, I had a few problems and had to go with the eMMC maskrom installation which were fine. PS : I've installed on top of the linux kernel (4.4) Open Media Vault (latest version). After installing everything, I've noticed that the fans were not functioning. I've checked the documentation on kobol.io site and went to the /etc/fancontrol config file and set the values as it was shown on the doc. I've restarted the fancontrol service, but still nothing. I've tried to read the pwm of my fans (has fan P7 were linked to the hwmon0 : cat /sys/class/…

  6. Hi, I want to ask, if there's a way how to turn off Helios64 without the 100% fan spin. It only takes 1 second but it's very annoying when I want to turn it off during the night. Looking https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/packages/bsp/helios64/fancontrol.conf and https://wiki.kobol.io/helios64/pwm/ No luck :Z

hi, i have only one fan that spin, i have set the systemctl stop fancontrol and checked the pwm1 the value is 255, and only one who spin i can turn off the only fan spinning with value 0, but i can't control the seconds fan at all, i have verified the connectique on the board and everything is fine, when i opened it and checked without disk , and i saw that both fan was spinning, so i thought it was fine, when i closed the board and disk's are on, i again have the same issue, i can control only 1 fan, it's always the same one. any idea how to fix this issue? is it a software related?

Hi, I think I may have posted about this in a few places, but I'm not sure where most are looking to discuss helios64 issues. The problem I am having is that the fans do not turn at all. As per the wiki, I've tried setting fancontrol off, and checking that the pwm value goes to 255, which it does but still no movement. I am using the fans supplied in the kit. There is nothing obstructing the fans, and sometimes if I disconnect and reconnect them from the board they will twitch a bit, or spin for a short while (until the connector is fully down against the board), but nothing otherwise. I've also tried heating the cpu up to ~85C (e.g `cat /dev/rando…

  10. Hey guys, First of all I would like to let you know that the default DTB has an issue, the GPU status is disabled by default. I've changed this & now my GPU is detected & working fine so far. (Armbian Jammy current) But I'm also facing some other Issues.... not all USB Ports are working, just 2-3 & the working ports sometime are randomly switching after a reboot. Bluetooth isn't working at all I guess these Issues are also related to the dtb file because I didn't find any entries for BT in the DTB. 11. Hi everyone ! I'm really happy with my Helios64, running fine with no major issues. BUT This product can obviously be improved with future revisions, while keeping the same base. The Kobol guys told me to open a thread here to discuss what would be great improvement or new features. I'm starting with things off my mind, but please ask me to add things to this list. An explanation would be great in the comments.

  12. My Helios64 setup has been running stable for months now (except for one MOSFET that failed and had to be replaced), however after recent updates using the OMV5 package manager I am unable to transfer files to my computer (SMB shares). When trying to transfer to a Windows computer the transfer speed immediately plummets to 0, stays there forever or File Explorer crashes/stops responding. When transferring to an Ubuntu system the transfer time outs. I can browse the files on the SMB share, I can play them (movies, music, etc) or run them directly with no issues. I can transfer files using scp with no problem (just at much reduced speed/bandw…

I've got my helios64 recently, and I wonder what type of FS to choose for main storage. I have five 4TB disk drives. I've installed OMV, made raid5 and format it with XFS. I use XFS because I work with this FS on Centos on my x86 servers, I don't use ext4 because I don't like when sometimes it starts to check filesystem during boot process. My setup is working perfect for a couple of weeks. I don't have any reboots or freezes or any issues that I've read on this forum. Now I think about migrating from XFS to BTRFS or ZFS. The main reason is to have file check-summing and scrub. Does anybody have btrfs with raid5 or ZFS with raidz1 on Helios64? Do you have any problems wit…

  15. I have Firefly RK3399 board. I ran armbian from SD card successfully the first time. After full init, I ran nand-sata-flash.sh install script, also successfully. But then I can't boot from the same SD card anymore. I always boot from the eMMC memory. I expected that boot sequence would be set on SD card first, then check eMMC.

  16. Recently I've been trying to build Armbian for Firefly RK3399, since I've purchased this board last year, and it has been lacking proper software support for a long time. Here is my fork https://github.com/hjc4869/build/tree/development Basically, It is a copy & paste of what's already done to support Odroid N1, by replacing the Hardkernel's kernel to what Firefly provides (an older 4.4.77 kernel), and replacing the Hardkernel u-boot with rockchip u-boot. I created a new 'firefly' board family for convenience. Also tried to build the image with some other kernel variants (Rockchip 4.4 bsp and mainline 4.17-rc6) without success, still investigati…

  17. I built a version of Buster with the legacy kernel (4.4). when I try to install the media-buster-legacy-rk3328 package on the system, I get an error - unsatisfied dependencies on the kodi-rk package. I tried installing the Kodi-rk package manually, but it has an unsatisfied dependency on kodi-rk-bin. The kodi-rk-bin package is available and installed, but its version does not correspond to the links with Kodi-rk. Perhaps packages were updated in the repository, but dependencies do not work because of a complex package name (the alphabetical comparison condition is not met) ?

I have tried the Debian image for ROCK5B and the Gnome GUI works fine there. But when booting the Armbian image (running from emmc) the screen does not notice any signal from the ROCK5B regardless of which HDMI port I try. I am using a quite old HDMI monitor (connected though a DVI-HDMI adapter). How do I debug this?

  55. Hello, I am quite new to this topic, and I have found it to be quite complex. I primarily work with tiny MCUs and RTOSes, but I am enjoying the Linux space so far. In essence I would like to use the Mali GPU that is embedded within the RK3399 of the Helios64 for hardware transcoding. 93. Hi folks, I am wondering if somebody with a mac enviroment has a decent / performant samba connectivity? After I upgraded to Big Sur I have severe issues with the samba protocol when accessing my shares on the helios running openmediavault. I know that Apple had made some changes with samba but there might be some users that dug a little bit deeper and could give me a hint. I did try it with different settings in the extra options over the past weeks but with no luck so far. Sidenote: Also NFS is terribly slow and laggy. I am back with AFP connection now that does the job perfectly and fast.

  97. Started by tmb,

Hi folks, long time lurker here. My helios64 is pretty much brand new, didn’t really needed it at that time, only bought it as I found it really cool. I may power it a couple of times per year for some backups (got 3x 6tb in it, no raid so I can take them out when needed, also back up stuff to external drives), it still starts-up from the initial sd card as I never finished setting it up. I also have a 1 bay separate NAS for downloading movies that if fails, I will just replace; and a drive attached directly to my router for easy file swaps; so don’t need much running 24x7. While I work in IT (on the Windows side, so the Armbian stuff is still a le…
