  1. Started by Toast,

@Igor how come there isn't any mainline kernels available for these boards lack of time or lack of interest ? currently using xilka kernel but would love to have it in apt less messy would be awesome to include/combine those builds and get more support for imx6 since graphics is up to 3.14.60 and mainline is at 4.4.0 (minimal support for graphics kinda like your mainline packages).

  2. Hi. I have a bunch of HummingBoard2 boards that have been used by a company called Vivo. Basically they allow schools to transfer video through Ethernet to monitors and projectors. I also want to do this but Vivi is a subscription based system so that SUX! I therefore want to blow Vivi away and load a clean Armbian. My issue is that the boards have no SD cards soldered to the board. They have power, 2xUSB, RJ45, HDMI connectors. They must therefore boot from eMMC. I found info on the board manufactures website., SolidRun, on how to use jumpers to select boot type. It was set to eMMC so I set it to USB and flashed a SD card with Armbian 20.20 and rebooted…

  3. Hi all, In the review of the Fire3 at least one person mentions powering this board via something other than the MicroUSB. This would allow me to use the serial console that's supposedly exposed over that port instead of wiring up yet another USB to serial converter. What I can't work out is a) which pin/s are used to power it, and b) what kind of power supply is used. I'd rather not fry the board (it'll do that itself under load) so can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi, I am running Debian Strech on a headless server with armbian (since 2014 on wheezy), on a Cubox-i 4 Pro. My system is on /dev/sda1 After an upgrade, few minutes ago, my device is no more reachable by ssh neither answering to ping. It seems to boot the kernel but I am not even sure of that (as nothing appears in the console after "booting the kernel"). 6. the system in my cubox-i 4x4 crashes after updating to kernel 4.4.1. I did the update in the system and after rebooting it doesn't work. I upload the screenshot of the only thing I get, after that the screen goes off, nothing else happens. If the problem is the new kernel it means I can't upgrade it, is it right? I also try new images 5.0 Vanilla and I get the same screen.

  9. I'm currently working on getting a custom kernel (5.4 kernel which was modified for a specific need regarding containers) running on a Jetson Nano. I've tried running the kernel image on NVIDIA's Jetpack but that didn't work. I've tried building the image directly on the Nano running Armbian and it hasn't really worked so far. It seems to either brick the Nano or not update the kernel version after an install (depending on if I replace /boot/Image). Would you all have any suggestions of what I can try or if it’s even possible? Thanks in advance!

  11. Hi all, I got my hands on an Odroid XU4 and wanted to use it as a replacement for my RPi 3 for all my amateur radio related stuff. Unfortunately all of the AX25 kernelmodules have been left out of official builds. I have a commit ready to add them back, yet I am not sure what the actual process is to submit a PR. As I understood I need to open an issue first yet I cannot figure out which category this fits in. I attached a patch file for current kernel. Thank You, Geoffrey ax25.patch

  15. Hi guys. I can't get the headphone jack to work on the NanoPC T3+ on Armbian 5.44 Bionic. HDMI sound works. There's a second Built-in Audio, but nothing seems to work. Also the on-board microphone doesn't work. I've tested it on the friendlyArm Lubuntu and there it both works. Additional. Can somebody point me into the right direction where to add a higher cpufreq in available frequencies? At 1400Mhz it only reaches 55°C maxed(with fan). Single core performance is bad. So some overclock would be helpful. Otherwise Armbian works great. Thank you. NicoD

Hi, I'm trying to generate an Armbian image for a custom board. I generated configuration files for card and family, with the necessary information for u-boot and kernel. I need to have separate boot partition in FAT and I added BOOTFS_TYPE="fat". Using the compile.sh in the Armbian "build" repo I get an image, but flashing it on the sdcard does not start uboot. In the boot partition I find not only the kernel and dtb, but also the u-boot scripts. How do you generate an image that contains everything correctly? Thanks in advance Riccardo

  19. I have a Cubox that has been running Debian Wheezy for a while and I want to do a clean install of Jessie on it. I downloaded Armbian_5.00_Cubox-i_Debian_jessie_4.4.1 and wrote it to SD card, but it won't boot. The error is: Unknown command 'bootz' I rather suspect that my Cubox is not a Cubox-i - possibly an earlier version that does not support compressed kernels. Is there some way I can work around this? Maybe re-flash the bootloader, or uncompress the kernel on another system perhaps? Thanks Andrew

  20. Hi Igor, my Cubox-i4Pro worked perfectly fine with your Armbian Debian Jessie, until I upgraded from 4.7 to 4.81. After the upgrade was performed today, the system time is always wrong after boot, it is always set to Jan 1 01:00:00 1970. Setting the system time correctly does not help, after reboot it is wrong again. I didn't observe this behavior before upgrade, the system time just used to work without any attention needed. Nothing else was changed in the system, only the upgrade of Armbian was done to ver 4.81. So I'm wondering what went wrong with the upgrade. Hardware time is always correct, syncing system time to hardware time does not survive boot. I tried …

Hi, If you think that Solid-run Cubox-i kernel branch is becoming outdated, you can use a mainline linux kernel with the following enablement patches: Russell King home dir: http://www.home.arm.linux.org.uk/~rmk/cubox/?C=M;O=D Grab the most recent hummingboard-cubox-i DIFF big patch and patch it into your vanilla 4.1 kernel source dir. Using Armbian_4.4_Udoo_Debian_jessie_3.14.28 - Wicd doesn't detect any networks (/etc/network/interfaces has wlan0 commented out). If i setup /etc/network/interfaces and edit /etc/hostapd.conf and /etc/init.d/hostapd, I can get the udoo to authenticate to my wireless network, but I can't ping/resolve/browse anything but google.com Using CLI images - I can't get my network card to auth at all. Any idea what happened - a few months ago wifi was working perfectly. Also - is there anyway to modify the startup job to raise network interfaces to have a time limit? Occasionally boot will go indefinitely.

I found out about Armbian only recently and decided to give it a try for my T113-S3 based board I bought on Aliexpress. I built two images, for "current" and "edge" kernel. For some time I was under impression that Linux doesn't boot at all (serial console output was stuck at "Starting kernel ..."), until I added earlycon=on to armbianEnv.txt. There are different brcmfmac4330-sdio.txt sources, with very different files for same wifi adapter and device (Cubox-i) I'm wondering what is the difference from the nvram .txt file for broadcom wifi firmware (brcmfmac4330-sdio.txt) between (A)solid-run:meta-solidrun-arm-imx6 (much longer with lots of additional parameters)https://github.com/SolidRun/meta-solidrun-arm-imx6/blob/fido/recipes-bsp/broadcom-nvram-config/files/solidrun-imx6/brcmfmac4330-sdio.txt (B)the one that ships …

I am developing on an imx6 board that is no longer in production. It has a full Yacto-based build system that works, based on an old 3.17?) kernel, but its a pain to develop for. It's not worth spending too much time on refactoring the image, but I'm wondering how big of a job it might be to build an Armbian image for it, given that I already have a working uboot and kernel. The hardware just uses a couple of usbs and uarts, and a pcie wifi card. One wersion also has an hdmi encoder, another has hdmi display. Those might be the hardest to support, but driver support is in the kernel. Thoughts? Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

Hi Friends Recently I have been trying Armbian 23.5 as alternative for NVIDIA official images. Tried both Ubuntu Gnome desktop and Debian Cinnamon desktop builds but somehow non of them discovers HDMI output. When Jetsno Nano is booting up I can see official "NVIDIA" screen for a while and then information about missing input (from TV on a TV). The hardware itself works OK - when I change SD card to one with an official image or another one with Debian 11 official - it works just fine. It's seems like a problem with Armbian build itself. Any advice is much appreciated. Kuba Logs: https://paste.armbian.com/omiher…

Hello (sorry, I am writing through a translator) I have a Zyxel NAS326 with a physically damaged NAND - it does not save the device configuration. board photo: Because I do not have access to the programmer, I want to replace NAND and program it in the NAS. However, I can not run U-Boot via UART. I tried the adapters on PL2303HX and FTDI FT232RL. I'm using a kwboot on this topic: and the u-boot file from this: https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,27108,31893#msg-31893 Every time this error pops up: root@gutek3:/gutek/nas326# ./kwboot-x86_64 -f -t -B 115200 /dev/ttyUSB0 -b uboot.bin -s 0 -q 1 Sending boot message. Please reboot the …

  94. I flashed my uSD card with armbian ubuntu desktop and works fine, until I do an apt upgrade. After that, I always see a boot message saying: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer derefence at virtual address 00000010.... Internal Error: oops: 17 [#1] SMT THUMB2... etc etc If I try doing startx, I see something else... (EE) modeset(0) failed to initialize glamor at ScreenInit() time. .... AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0.

  95. Started by Eddie Nambulus,

I bought several modules with mpc8308 on board. But following the documentation, i did not manage to implement DMA data transfer. Is it possible to get an example of the implementation of data transfer over DMA?

  98. Started by Lothar,

Hi, I tried everything: I downloaded wheezy isos, Jessie.... with GUI, no GUI and then I installed by myself..... solid-run isos and armbian isos.... just clean system... burn the iso in a sdcard and run the system.... if it has already GUI I install blueman and test bluetooth and wifi.... perfect. If doesn't have gui then I install one (I tried xfce and mate), then blueman and test bluetooth and wifi.... perfect. then 'apt-get update && apt-get upgrade' and bluetooth stops working Any reason for that and any tip?

  99. See the following steps to get the TI wl18xx drivers to work on the Cubox with the I4P Rev 1.5 SOM. Step 1) Boot with the Armbian base image (Armbian_5.20_Cubox-i_Ubuntu_xenial_4.7.3). The 3.14.79 base image also works however will require a different dpkg install command to overwrite the 3.14.79 kernel. Step 2) Build a new kernel with Armbian build tools, note this only works with the 'DEV' kernel branch because SolidRun provides all the necessary DTS files. Edit the compile.sh script and change KERNEL_CONFIGURE="yes" to customize the kernel configuration. The relevant modules you will need to select are: CONFIG_WL_TI=y CO…

  100. Started by AndrewZ,

I've recently upgraded Armbian on my Cubox-i using apt, i.e. that was not a new clean install. As a result I still have an old kernel running. What is the right way to upgrade kernel? Edit: updated using armbian-config, everything seems to be ok.
