Rockchip CPU Boxes

A place for discussion of TV Boxes running with Rockchip CPUs (rk322x, rk3328, rk3399, etc)

  1. Started by lucat1,

Hi, I've got this old board from 2015/2016 with an rk3229. It is running Android 6 with a Linux kernel version 3.x compiled for the rk322x family. The board is branded as Leelbox Q1 but on the PCB it is marked as an MXQ-Q1. I have not found much info about either on this forum. I've tried the multitool image, along with three or four minimal armbian images (both current, legacy and even some builds from 2019) but nothing seems to boot. When I use the multitool image I think I get the furthest, as the ethernet lights turn on but then I get no output on my screen. I was wondering if some of you have experience with this kind of board or have …

Hi @jock, i see multitool source on your github page, would you mind to write a guide to use it or patch it to run armbian without wiping the android os (to run armbian from sdcard) specifically for rk3318 ? in this case i want to run Armbian_23.5.1_Rk3318-box_jammy_current_6.1.30.img.xz

  3. Hello everyone, I am trying to install Armbian on my Android TV Box, but unfortunately, I flashed an incorrect firmware. Now the device is hard-bricked: the red and blue LEDs are blinking alternately, there is no HDMI output (black screen), and the physical reset button is not working properly. I already have an SD card loaded with the multitool to install Armbian, but I need to force the SoC into Maskrom Mode first so it can bypass the corrupted eMMC and boot from the SD card. Device Specifications: SoC: Rockchip RK3228A Board ID: T39-V1.0 Storage: eMMC (BGA type) I have attached the front and back photos of my PCB board (IMG-20260607-W…

  4. Hello everyone! I'm using rk322x TV box for video decoding through mpp. Mpp requires a system with 6.1 or earlier kernel. When I try to compile Ubuntu 22.04 from this repository https://github.com/armbian/build, the selection for kernel are "current" or "edge". I selected "current", and later I found its kernel is 6.12.21. I have tried to use armbian-config to downgrade the kernel, but the earliest selection is 6.6. Then I tried to downgrade the kernel through apt, but there were no 6.1 edition. Thus, I decided to change the kernel through "Mainline Kernels" and install the 6.1.132 kernel. After the installation finished, I rebooted my system and found that the kerne…

  5. Instead of using Volumio or Daphile, I installed Armbian_21.05.1_Rk322x-box_buster_legacy_4.4.194 to a MXQ Pro box. The box was shipped with Android 7, and I installed Devinfo to check if it is eMMC or NAND. It is lucky that my box equipped with eMMC, so I installed the OS easily. After that, I did some following steps: 1- Run rk322x-config: I select CPU 3228B-1.4 Ghz, board 322x MXQ, wifi ssv6X5X 2- Run nmtui to setup wifi connection 3- Armbian-config: to add something such as infra red 4- Set default sound card: hai@rk322x-box:/etc$ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: DWI2SHDMI [DW-I2S-HDMI], de…

  8. I have a RK3328 android tv box. After flashing new firmware to it, using Rockchip Batch Tool, the box, connected to the tv, shows briefly RK3328 logo on tv screen, and then black screen. After that, I connect the box to the computer using usb cable, without pressing reset button on the box. Rockchip Batch Tool software, under the Connected Device, shows a green symbol. It shouldn't, because I didn't press the reset button on android tv box. It's like android tv box is in reset mode, and I didn't put it in reset mode. It's like there is a short somewhere that puts it in reset mode. And, maybe that is the reason the box doesn't boot up normally, but has a bl…

  9. edit: Found the solution Got this tv box "x88pro 10" repurposed to run armbian by someone and it demands login/password. The default one(root 1234) doesn't work. Also I can't seem to stop the loading process and get to grub to try and delete passwords manually from there(tried pressing random keys during boot, tried holding shift). Please help And also point me to an armbian image I could use in case I fail to reset the password Armbian version it runs atm is 22.05.0-trunk Bullseye tech specs are: RK3318 Quad-Core 64bit Cortex-A53, Penta-Core Mali-450 up to 750Mhz, 2 or 4Gb ram

Hi, I decided to switch from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 on my MVR9 (Rockchip 3328). The previous version (Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_focal_current_5.9.0.img.xz) that I had used, had been realized by Balbes150. Today, I installed the image for the Station M1 by Balbes150 (Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Station-m1_jammy_edge_6.2.0.img.xz) on my MVR9, and everything works except the blue front led that no longer automatically turns on when I agree the PC. I wanted to know if you can tell me which files it is necessary to modify so that the blue LED turns on when the PC is on and that turns off when the PC is turned off. MVR9 has only one LED (Blue). 13. Hi everyone, I'm facing an issue with my Armbian setup on an H96 Max Ultra 4K (RK3318). The system boots up normally and works fine for a while, but after running for some time, it completely freezes and becomes unresponsive. I have to power cycle the device to get it running again. This issue keeps happening consistently after some time, and I’m not sure what's causing it. Here are a few details about my setup: Board model: H96 Max Ultra 4K (RK3318) Armbian version: Armbian_24.11.0_rockchip_rk3318-box_bookworm_6.1.114_server_2024.11.01.img SD card format: BTRFS Things I've tried so far: Checking the power supply to ensure it's stable an…

  14. Hello everyone, My university recently purchased a few hundred of these RK3288-based tablets. They're used to display room schedules, control printer confiurations, and control TV inputs throughout our engineering and computer science buildings. The buildings are littered with them; you can't walk 10 feet in any direction without passing one mounted on the wall. Given that they have cameras and microphones, and they run an ancient Android, maybe this wasn't a great idea... Anyway, the no-name eMMC on these things tends to go bad pretty quickly, and the board has no microSD slot, so SD booting is not an option. The university has given me access to …

But whenever I try to reboot it, it doesn't start up back, I gotta replug the power supply for a few sec, only then it starts up back. While it was on Android, it did the reboot correctly. Maybe it's something about exactly this model of tv box that does not let it to reboot on its own, it doesn't have an on\off buttons, so whenever I use it…

  24. Hi all, I'm a newbie The two boxes have similar hardware (RK3566 + Mali-G52-2EE + 8GB ram), and I've searched the forums and seen both have been experimented with Armbian. But I'm still confused about the bottom line: on which of the two Armbian is better supported or easier to run? That'll be the main deciding factor for me, but of course I'll be interested in any other comment or general advice. TIA!

  32. This is a sidebar/urgent request for help. I was previously able to install Armbian noble on my YY3568 board thanks to instructions from these forums (https://forum.armbian.com/topic/49775-board-bring-up-youyeetoo-yy3568-rockchip-rk3568/). I now need to use the board for a Debian project to help a friend that lost their backup, and am unable to reproduce the instructions in that post to empty the eMMC and enable SD boot. The poorly written/flawed instructions in this post involve loading a config file into RKDevTool, writing loader, parameters and uboot, then there is a line about "destroying partitions by writing wipe_part" (a file you can download in the post)…

  53. Hello everyone, I’m trying to install Armbian on a TV box with an RK3328 SoC, but I’m running into several issues. Here’s what I’ve done so far and the information I have: Box model: dnetSmart-YSE, version 10 Chipset: RK3328 Kernel version: 4.4.179 PCB info: t9-RK3328-D4, ver 2.0.2018 Design by: Hugsun I followed the instructions I found on the forum to install Armbian, but it’s not working. I’ve tried several methods: Using the microSD card: I tried installing Armbian on a microSD card and booting it from the box's microSD port, but it didn’t work. Using a USB drive: I also tried booting from a USB drive plugged into one of th…

  54. Hi I'm currently running Armbian on my Minix NEO X7 box. The video works, but I can't really get the ethernet working. The reason for it is that the ethernet is controlled by some of the GPIO pins, so basically the ethernet chip (not onboard, it has an USB external onboard chip) is shut down by the GPIO. I've tried to extract the dts file from my Android ROM without any luck, mainly because the kernel of the image (Finless ROM v1.7) is too old to even contain one. Does anyone have any working dts file that would bring the ethernet port back to life, or do I have to bypass the GPIO, so I can access the ethernet? Thanks for all the replies

Hi, I installed the wrong image on a Rockchip RK3288 (Hannspree) Android 5.1 TV box. Now it won't boot from internal memory or sd-card, power on, light up or anything. Like it was hit by lightning. Is this expected? What has happened? (This very comprehensive and helpful post says that "If the internal flash does not contain a bootable system, they will always boot from the sdcard.") Thank you good people (The tag on this post is wrong... I could not find a RK3288 tag)

I can see in the config screen that the WiFi chip is recognised as "south silicon valley 6051p 6256p" but I can't enable it. Under connections I can only see ethernet. What am I doing wrong? 77. Hi, I have a basic doubt regarding the booting of multiboot vs armbian Multiboot gets booted from sdcard even if the tv box has Android. If multiboot can do it, why not armbian. I can see multiboot has vfat partition having kernel file. And another partition as ext4 that had Linux files. If we make armbian by modifying the initrd, will it get booted like multiboot, without erasing Android and not loosing Android functionality. It will be like dual boot also.
