Hi there, first of all big thanks to this community, what you're doing is awesome :-) Here is my question: I have Scishion v88 4k TV box, it had android 7 I've installed Armbian Buster legacy kernel 4.4.y on nand Configured network, rn it has OctoPrint, Klipper, working webcam etc. No questions, its all working great. But whenever I try to reboot it, it doesn't start up back, I gotta replug the power supply for a few sec, only then it starts up back. While it was on Android, it did the reboot correctly. Maybe it's something about exactly this model of tv box that does not let it to reboot on its own, it doesn't have an on\off buttons, so whenever I use it…

Good evening, after i tried to play armbian image on the box it doesn't start anymore. this doesn't seem to be that rare with this model and now i want to put the box in maskrom mode, because otherwise it will not be recognized by the pc. I took the photos of the circuit board and there 2 pins have to be connected to each other. can someone tell me what pin it is? color or circle on foto.

Inspired by the incredible work @jock and @ilmich have done to make the RK322x platform stable on mainline Linux, I decided to tackle the application side of things. My goal was to turn these "e-waste" TV boxes into fully functional, low-latency Android Auto head units for our cars. This fork of OpenAuto is built as one of my "Is it possible to turn this into that?" projects. It turned out to be one heck of a nightmare to pull off, but at the same time a lot of fun because I can see the potential of these TV Boxes as something you can actually put in your car and turn into a usable head unit! System Requirements Target…

Hello everyone! I'm using rk322x TV box for video decoding through mpp. Mpp requires a system with 6.1 or earlier kernel. When I try to compile Ubuntu 22.04 from this repository https://github.com/armbian/build, the selection for kernel are "current" or "edge". I selected "current", and later I found its kernel is 6.12.21. I have tried to use armbian-config to downgrade the kernel, but the earliest selection is 6.6. Then I tried to downgrade the kernel through apt, but there were no 6.1 edition. Thus, I decided to change the kernel through "Mainline Kernels" and install the 6.1.132 kernel. After the installation finished, I rebooted my system and found that the kerne…

Hello there, I upgraded the newest kernel (`linux-image-current-rockchip64 arm64 24.8.0-trunk.332`) today. Something went wrong and it is failing to find the rootfs and drops in to initramfs shell. Attached are the update logs and login images. How do I fix this? Thanks apt-update.txt

hiya folks! I have a no-brand (MK - 918?) RK3188 Android TV box that I'm trying to install Armbian, but I can't get it to boot Multiboot nor the Armbian image from the SD card. I have tried different SD cards and USB sticks, I am burning the Multitool image with balenaEtcher, but no luck, it boots straight to Android. I have also tried the solution posted by fabiobassa but the program gets stuck on "Downloading bootloader...". here's some more info: ➜ lsusb Bus 001 Device 009: ID 2207:310b Fuzhou Rockchip Electronics Company RK3188 in Mask ROM mode ➜ sudo ./rkdeveloptool ld DevNo=1 Vid=0x2207,Pid=0x310b,LocationID=102 Loader ➜ sudo ./rkdeveloptool rd…

Hi, Firstly I have searched the forums, google and docs.armbian.com before posting this. I have and old TV Box (specs below) that I would like to try and re-purpose as a Home Assistant server. I'm not looking to do anything else with it. If you feel I'm wasting time here and would be better off buying some supported device, please say so. So far: 1) Have created and SD Card from @balbes150 repository - specifically buster with no desktop (https://users.armbian.com/balbes150/rk3188/) 2) Device boots from SD Card but no HDMI output. (If I boot the stock Android ROM - HDMI works perfectly.) 3) Wired LAN works and I can …

Hi guys, I have an x88pro 10 with a debian bulleye installation. I bought an external lcd touchscreen monitor to control my klipper printer with Klipperscreen. This screen is sold for a 1024x600 resolution but the system sees it as a 1920*1080. I can control the printer but the resolution is huge and the screens are slow. I tried to set the resolution using setenv video-mode sunxi:1024x768-16@60,monitor=hdmi,hpd=0,edid=0 but nothing change. this is the output of xrandr user@klipper:/boot$ DISPLAY=:0 xrandr -q Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 4096 x 4096 HDMI-1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal le…

This is a sidebar/urgent request for help. I was previously able to install Armbian noble on my YY3568 board thanks to instructions from these forums (https://forum.armbian.com/topic/49775-board-bring-up-youyeetoo-yy3568-rockchip-rk3568/). I now need to use the board for a Debian project to help a friend that lost their backup, and am unable to reproduce the instructions in that post to empty the eMMC and enable SD boot. The poorly written/flawed instructions in this post involve loading a config file into RKDevTool, writing loader, parameters and uboot, then there is a line about "destroying partitions by writing wipe_part" (a file you can download in the post)…

Hello everyone, I’m trying to install Armbian on a TV box with an RK3328 SoC, but I’m running into several issues. Here’s what I’ve done so far and the information I have: Box model: dnetSmart-YSE, version 10 Chipset: RK3328 Kernel version: 4.4.179 PCB info: t9-RK3328-D4, ver 2.0.2018 Design by: Hugsun I followed the instructions I found on the forum to install Armbian, but it’s not working. I’ve tried several methods: Using the microSD card: I tried installing Armbian on a microSD card and booting it from the box's microSD port, but it didn’t work. Using a USB drive: I also tried booting from a USB drive plugged into one of th…

Picked up a couple of these over at the local second hand store... https://www.aopen.com/AU_en/products_info/Chromebox-Mini My guess is that these were digital signage oriented, as they were in a crate with a few Startech USB-DVI adatpers, etc... Anyways - they're end-of-support for ChromeOS... There's a couple of posts over on Alpine to get things running there... It's close enough to TinkerBoard to maybe do some effort, and with Chromeboxes/Chromebooks on the same SoC/BSP...

Hi there, RK322A-box with R329Q v2.0 board, during the firmware upgrade [using Factory tool v 1.8] “Preparing IDB failed” occurred, most likely because that image file was wrong. The box is bricked, but boot up from SD card [multitool] and also connects to the PC… Next step: using RKAndroid Tool v 2.96 tried to restore the initial back-up image [the 14 files], but shows “U-boot file is larger than Flash size”…”ReadFlashInfo” detected the Flash Manufacturer: Micron, Flash size 0MB [?] and is disabled, see attached screenshoot: What is the next step fix this issue? Do I have to upload some RK loader.bin file ? P.S. the NAND is a SpecTek labeled PF …

I have a Measy (R-BOX) U4C rk3188. Before I recycled it I thought I would try to get a linux kernel running on it and found this these posts. I experimented with Armbian_21.02.0-trunk_Rk3188_focal_current_5.10.6_xfce_desktop.img from 13JAN. (Thanks Balbes!) It boots with rk3188-rbox-cs968.dtb and most everything works but the video ouput is color shifted. So HDMI video output is fine but the colors wrong and HDMI audio is not working. I took apart the Android firmware that was on the thing but with a V3 kernel without uboot it is kind of difficult to see into the kernel. I assume the device tree is somehow off for this system or, more likely the uInitrd is loa…

Hi everyone! 👋 I managed to get Armbian running on a generic RK3518 TV box — mainline U-Boot, onboard Ethernet, and AIC8800D80 SDIO Wi-Fi all working. I couldn't find a single RK3518 thread here when I started, so I wrote everything up to help the community. Full step-by-step guide, device tree, and the loader binaries I built are in my GitHub repo: 👉https://github.com/juliovendramini/rk3518_armbian Happy to answer questions. Hope it helps someone! 🙂

I'm looking for help porting to an RK3328-based device, the REV Robotics Control Hub. It ships running a custom version of Android 7. The compute board's physical layout is based on the 96Boards CE spec, and is visibly extremely similar to the Dragonboard 410c (https://www.96boards.org/product/dragonboard410c/). It has these specs and ports: - Rockchip RK3328 SOC - Rockchip RK805-1 (I believe from my research that this is a power management chip?) - 1GB DDR3 RAM (2x Samsung K4B4G1646E-BYMA chips) - 16GB eMMC (Samsung KLMAG1JETD-B041) - Oddly, the manufacturer specs list this device as having 8GB eMMC 4.51, but the chip on my board at least is 16GB …

Hi everyone, I'm facing an issue with my Armbian setup on an H96 Max Ultra 4K (RK3318). Hi guys, To begin, a big thanks to all devs! Unbelievable work done so these boxes do not end up in a landfill of recycle bin. maybe this has been answered before but in this vast ocean of information I must admit I am drowned! The image I'm starting with is here: https://www.t95plus.com/forums/downloads/Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_soquartz_jammy_current_5.19.7.img.gz This is the only image I've had any success booting a SOQuartz from microsd card. In fact, the *only* card that will work is very specifically a 32GB Sandisk Ultra A1 U1. No other type of card will boot; not even a 16GB version of same Sandisk series. Baffling. This, however, is not my main issue. The problem is that I have single option for sd card which is forcing me to make sure the image will even fit onto another card -- or Balena Etcher will complain that the drive is too small. This only happens sometim…

Hi, I decided to switch from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 on my MVR9 (Rockchip 3328). The previous version (Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_focal_current_5.9.0.img.xz) that I had used, had been realized by Balbes150. Today, I installed the image for the Station M1 by Balbes150 (Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Station-m1_jammy_edge_6.2.0.img.xz) on my MVR9, and everything works except the blue front led that no longer automatically turns on when I agree the PC. I wanted to know if you can tell me which files it is necessary to modify so that the blue LED turns on when the PC is on and that turns off when the PC is turned off. MVR9 has only one LED (Blue). It seems th…

Hello ALL, I have been trying to solve this common issue by myself for two weeks now but I finally gave up. I was able to brick then unbrick and get Armbian running from the emmc on my box but the wifi is still a no-go. Does anyone has this box with a working wifi? Hello. I have this MX10 Box S android TV box, it works well with the latest Armbian community build (Armbian_community_25.8.0-trunk.309_Rk322x-box_bookworm_current_6.12.35_minimal.img). However, I have this specific binary that is 64bit that I would like to run on my box and this build of armbian is 32bit only. Is there a 64bit build of armbian for rk322x anywhere? Thanks!

New to armbian, I have a H96Max Android TV Box, Initially I flashed it with Armbian_23.11.1_Rock-3a_bookworm_current_6.1.63_gnome_desktop but there was no signal in HDMI, I then flashed it with Armbian_22.05.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_jammy_current_5.15.35_xfce_desktop and Armbian_22.02.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_bullseye_edge_5.15.16_minimal, on both the image I was able to get the armbian running. The issue now I am facing is, in both the cases the WIFI is detected and SSIDs are listed but when I try to connect with password with router, it fails, I double checked if I am using the correct WIFI security. I tried connecting with hotspot on iPhone but having same issue, However if I enab…

Hey guys, i am in trouble with my device (T95Plus, rk3566). Its no longer detected by windows using the usb-otg cable and Android Tool. So i can't reflash the original firmware. I compiled a custom u-boot for rk3566 with bootefi command added. I copied it over to partition 2 of the emmc where the original u-boot was located. Since then its broken. I thought its bricked, but DigitalDaz told me, its only softbricked. Anyway it logs the output over the uart port very well. Its first searching on sdcard for an SPL (secondary program loader) partition and fails, then tries the internal eMMC. It says no misc partition found. I foun…

Hi I'm currently running Armbian on my Minix NEO X7 box. The video works, but I can't really get the ethernet working. The reason for it is that the ethernet is controlled by some of the GPIO pins, so basically the ethernet chip (not onboard, it has an USB external onboard chip) is shut down by the GPIO. I've tried to extract the dts file from my Android ROM without any luck, mainly because the kernel of the image (Finless ROM v1.7) is too old to even contain one. Does anyone have any working dts file that would bring the ethernet port back to life, or do I have to bypass the GPIO, so I can access the ethernet? Thanks for all the replies

Hi all, I'm a newbie The two boxes have similar hardware (RK3566 + Mali-G52-2EE + 8GB ram), and I've searched the forums and seen both have been experimented with Armbian. But I'm still confused about the bottom line: on which of the two Armbian is better supported or easier to run? That'll be the main deciding factor for me, but of course I'll be interested in any other comment or general advice. TIA!

Hello everyone, My university recently purchased a few hundred of these RK3288-based tablets. They're used to display room schedules, control printer confiurations, and control TV inputs throughout our engineering and computer science buildings. The buildings are littered with them; you can't walk 10 feet in any direction without passing one mounted on the wall. Given that they have cameras and microphones, and they run an ancient Android, maybe this wasn't a great idea... Anyway, the no-name eMMC on these things tends to go bad pretty quickly, and the board has no microSD slot, so SD booting is not an option. The university has given me access to …

Hi, I have a basic doubt regarding the booting of multiboot vs armbian Multiboot gets booted from sdcard even if the tv box has Android. If multiboot can do it, why not armbian. I can see multiboot has vfat partition having kernel file. And another partition as ext4 that had Linux files. If we make armbian by modifying the initrd, will it get booted like multiboot, without erasing Android and not loosing Android functionality. It will be like dual boot also.

Does anyone know if the H20 soc RK3228A TV box is compatible with installing the multitool on eMMC? I don't think so, on the PCB the model is H20_221_V1.71_230617. I couldn't find any pads on the pcb to try to force access to the mask rom. On the forum I seem to have read about others who have had the problem of bricking this TV box, I think it is still not supported by the multitool.

I have tried the latest image 20.11, focal and buster. System seemed running stable at first, but in a few hours, there was kernel panic which was caused by CPU. Issue happened randomly, under load or when practically idle. Is it possible u-boot i used is causing it, or is that bugger just needed to boot? I wanted to play with it and run it as a server, but sadly it's not stable enough.

It seemed like EVERYONE was talking about "looking into" getting Armbian going on this box. I did my best. Built from the Rock5b images. I've installed Armbian legacy kernel 4.4.194-rk322x on a Rockchip box (RK3229, SSV6051 wireless chip). Most things have worked thus far but I've hit a major roadblock with the network interfaces. Output of nmcli shows that all devices are unmanaged (this includes ethernet). I've tried several remedies: - explicitly setting a managed connection (nmcli device set wlan0 managed yes) has no effect: the device remains unmanaged - in the file /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf the option of setting devices to be managed by NM was already set to true (managed=true). I have changed this to false and back with no change in either scenario …

Hello SliTaz community, I would like to know how I could install SliTaz on an Android TV box powered by a Rockchip RK3229 processor. I understand that the standard SliTaz ISO is for x86 architecture, but my device uses ARM. Is there any ARM-compatible version of SliTaz that could run on this hardware? Or is there a way to build a custom ARM rootfs with the SliTaz ARM toolchain and use it with a compatible kernel and bootloader? Any help, guidance, or example would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a recurring and very specific issue with my TX2 TV Box, with the following specifications: SoC: Rockchip RK3229 RAM: 2GB DDR3 Storage: NAND flash (not eMMC!) Board: Generic TX2 board 🛑 Main Issue The system shuts down abruptly at exactly 29 minutes and 47 seconds of uptime (i monitoring via htop). It always shuts down at this time. It’s not a clean shutdown or reboot — it behaves as if the power was cut off. No meaningful logs appear in journalctl or dmesg, and the shutdown is instantaneous and silent. 🧪 What I’ve Tried: Disabled idle and sleep functions: Masked syste…
