When building An armbian image, it takes a lot of time to create u-boot and I want to understand how it is necessary to include u-boot in the image immediately. If most people don't use it, I'll disable copying it to the image when I build it. For those who will need the image with the embedded u-boot, it is possible to easily add the right version of u-boot into the existing image.

I am starting a new thread as this discussion doesn't belong in the "Single Armbian image for RK + AML + AW" thread. The end user need is that users (I think this is especially true of TV box users) think of Armbian for TV boxes like a standard linux distribution. What this means is that they expect to receive security updates and critical bug fixes. They are after all trying to run home servers and desktops on this platform. And for the most part they get these fixes from the upstream distributions (ubuntu or debian). However they don't get fixes for the linux kernel. The question "how do I get kernel updates?" gets asked quite frequently in the TV box …

After reading through the forum I found the file I want to download - ARMBIAN 5.67 user-built Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.4.143-rk3328-tv 20181203 +compton. How do I find this file when I don't know which of the almost 100 boards it's under without looking at the hardware specs of each. Is there a way to cross-reference that I'm not seeing?

I am trying to build an armbian img. with mainline kernels for s905x3 tvboxes ( especially h96 max x3 and X96_Max_plus ) . I wanted to install Balbes' Armbian image on Mecool KM8P but failed miserably: At first it took me weeks to get my KM8Ps into recovery mode, only to realize that the better/best installation procedure is via the stock Android update routine. Unfortunately I now have 3 KM8P showing the same behaviour: They always boot into the recovery mode, showing the defunct Android with the "No command" message. I can't get out of the recovery mode back into Android to do a "normal" installation via the update routine. And I can't figure out how to install @balbes150 images from the recovery mode. I took apart a tx3 pro android box I had collecting dust and realized I could put debian on it. I went through the process on Armbians website and got it to sucessfully boot into the user login screen of Armbian Heres the weird part when I login it begins to load and then for some reason opens Kodi 17.3 and I have no way of exiting kodi without it rebooting the box. I believe I only had Kodi 16.0 on the box so I think 17.3 is coming pre-installed in this file they give you for the Armbian Debian install. Ok guys looking for some help on shutting down issue. I installed Armbian_5.90_Aml-s905_Ubuntu_bionic_default_5.1.0_desktop_20190701.img.xz using S905.p212.dtb two days ago. It was logging ADC errors in the kernel log every three seconds but they have gone now , it is now logging the errors below in the kernel log and ttyS0 errors in the syslog and kernel log as well. I disabled the ttyS0 service to stop it logging all the time and around 25 minutes later it shutdown, There are no errors in the kernel log apart from the ones below. hello there, i bought this box wich is pre rooted! i burn the image to usb, and also copy dtb.usb image to boot directory but i dont seem to be able to get into linux! I go into update and select the linux script and it reboots, but it shows an android figure saying " error" and then i have to restart back to android.. im trying to boot armibian or ubuntu or similars... To my surprise I couldn't find the SD card slot, so opening it up I see the SD card slot is missing, but the footprint is on the board, and looks like the related components were not placed. I can't for the life of me get them to install Kodi 16.2 or any Kodi updates for that matter, during each install I get (the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name) The firmware seems to only allow the Kodi 16.1 rc3 I realize that I should uninstall the previous Kodi in order to install the new Kodi 17, but Kodi seems to be part of the firmware. Hello, i installed the newest ubuntu img on the box(aside on the sd card running). Now i get through the setup questions for logon. Only error i get is that the logon server doesn't work well. Anyway it boots now saying 'light display manager' started successfully, but there's no graphic gui to be seen. All the control f buttons don't work, or i get a scrambled screen but no gui. Can someone tell me what i can do to get into the graphic user interface? I was already doing the putty logon thing.

this is just a quick note that in my experience the amount of tv boxes with fake specs has grown quite a bit in the last months and that this is something to always have in mind when getting a box for a surprisingly cheap (i.e. quite a bit cheaper than usual or most of the other offerings) price - you might be lucky and it will be a bargain or you might hit one with fake specs. some examples i saw recently: a qplus 4g ram / 32g emmc ended up to be 2g ram and 16g nand, a h6 box sold as 4g ram / 32g emmc ended up as 2g ram / 16g emmc, a x96mini 2g ram / 16g emmc ended up at only 1g ram / 16g emmc, a r39 2g ram / 16g emmc with rockchip rk3229 ends up as 1g ram / 16g emmc and…

First of all, I should mention that the TV box we got was probably a clone one. Original MXQ Pro 4K 5G has an Amlogic chipset. We got an old Allwinner H3 which to my recent knowledge is very old now. Hi! I saw that, even if not officially supported, there is a lot of discussion about armbian on tv boxes. I read that amlogic ones are not really a good choice and rockchip and allwinner ones should be the right choice instead. I am thinking to buy a tv box to play with armbian, you know...for fun! But I am quite undecided. Would be an Allwinner H6 the best option or should I buy something with a Rockchip 3229, 3288 or 3388? And moreover, what would be the best choice and why between the Rockchip ones? Hey everyone, don't tear me up too much, but its been maybe 25 years since I have dabbled with any *nix type environment. Recently tinkering around, I installed Armbian on my TX3 Mini Android box. No complaints, feels like I am getting back into the swing of things again. But for some reason, I cannot figure out how to turn off the screen saver / maybe power managent IE: Black screen. It goes black after 10 minutes or so and I just wanted to keep it on. Spent a few days trying things on and off from suggestions I found online, but nothing seems to work. I got a box a month ago off Amazon. Externally its labeled "MX Pro+ 4K" But it is running with 7.1.2 and the firmware I have flashed was a MXQ. The board says MXQ_S905X_D4 v1.2 and I have tried both SD and USB, it is going into uboot I think? (The light is red not blue) but I can't find a dtb that works. Hello, a few days ago a bought this box so that i could run Linux on it with ovpn server. The problem is that a can' t get the box to boot from sd. I tried different cards but no success, the toothpick method brings me to the recovery screen. I tested the mentioned sd's on a Beelink GT1 and they work just fine (boot Unbuntu without any problems). Can someone give me some advice on how to get this box on Linux because this is the only reason i bought this box.
