For compatibility reason I'd like to have an NTFS data partition as partition 1 and the ext4 system partition as partition 2. I achieved this with debian installer, but I fail doing so using armbian. Can you tell me how to achive this for armbian? My idea was to copy the prepared partition from armbian-SD-image to partition 2 and configure u boot to start from there, but I failed in doing so... thank you

Hello all, I am developing a video streaming device that streams video to youtube. For this, I am using NanoPi NEO Core2 as an SBC. It runs on "Base on UbuntuCore, Kernel: Linux-4.14" os version as mentioned on http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPi_NEO_Core2 Along with the SBC, I am using its shield to use peripheral ports like USB, ethernet, and debugging port. For capturing video, I am using a Logitech c920 webcam. Here I am facing two issues : 1. Hardware Issue When I connect Logitech C920 camera with NanoPi Neo Core2 via mini shield, it freezes. Odroid N2. Armbian Ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.10.123. xfce. Bluman 2.2.4 Adapter is Realtek rtl8821CU Wifi/Bluetooth. Drivers were present. Device Sony SRS-X2. The device is seen when searching but fails to pair. The only message is "bluetooth pairing failed." and "br-connection-already-connected" I'm note sure by what already connected means. It definitely is not connected.

Hi, I wanted to install Armbian to my old Asus eee PC. So I made live USB containing the .iso and boot from there. I can login as root fine, but when running armbian-install, I only see the option of installing to sdb (my USB drive), but not to my sda (the laptop local drive). I am not sure what's the problem. Do I have to do something to the partition in sda? Currently Alpine Linux is installed in the local drive. Previous installation was Lubuntu (14, I think?). I want to run pi-hole and there are not many supported OSes for pi-hole that still support x86, so I would like to make it work. Armbian version: Armbian 25.5.1 Bookworm Minimal

Hello, i was trying to connect sensors via i2c, and neither wiringPi.h nor i2c-dev.h are comiting Read/Write comands. The file descriptor is given a value, so i think the connection worked, but functions like : i2c_smbus_read_byte_data(FILEDESCRIPTOR, (u_int8_t)REGISTERADRESS) just pop errors. Do you guys have any idea? Thanks for any help! edit: i have also included /linux/i2c.h and the function error persists. "I2C_SMBUS_READ_BYTE_DATA was not declared in this scope"

I am a Linux-Newbee myself but in the DOS/Windows-world I was programmer and admin. But my friend is a total user-only (he is physiotherapist an GOOD in that) so I ended up being his computerman. We both have the rockPi 4 A (no WLAN) with Armbian XFCE. He also has some pad with Android. Everything was good for about a year. He is using Telegram a lot. On the pad he had several messages about a Telegram update, one click, done. On the RockPi with Armbian instead he had messages about using an outdated version of Telegram which soon will cease functioning. No Updates offered. He installed Telegram new which worked, but after a restart he had the old versio…

Hi all, I have a Rock64 running on the "official" image (at the time, according to the official Pine64 documentation) "Armbian Ubuntu Bionic XFCE Desktop". Recently I updated it but suddenly it stopped working. After rebooting, all the 3 LEDs were lit, ON all the time and that was about it. I thought it was some kind of SD card corruption because it couldn't load some files from the SD card after the update and before rebooting. The only thing that came to mind to fix this was to restore a backup I had from Dec 2020. So I restored it and it worked again! But guess what... after updating the 280 packages that had an update, it stopped working again. But this time it w…

Hi. Armbian 21.02.1 / 5.15.74-sunxi (22.08.6 SMP) / Debian 11.5 is working flawlessly on my cubietruck for several days, and then just hangs. I've studied the armbian-hardware-monitor.log, systemlog, run a 2-minute periodic cron to watch the temperature, and even added a serial comsole in an attempt to find out what might be the cause. I have not seen any weird indications in these logs. Temperature stays between 37 and 45 degrees. When the system hangs, there are no error messages on the consoles or via the serial comm. Pings are unresponded then, and magic sysrq won't work then. Armbian is run on a sata harddisk, there are some harddisks attached via an USB hub too but …

Hi, I'm interested in getting a compact ARM-based processor (something like a RPI or ASUS TinkerBoard) that can output a 2560x720 output resolution. Any pointers would be gratefully received. Thank You, Dave

Would like to build something like a NAS, because I'm tired of connecting an external drive via USB. I am thinking to use bananapi M2 berry for this. I would power the 3.5 HDD externally and don't care too much about SATA speed. However, it is important to me that armbian works without manual adjustments, because it wouldn't cope with them. Should I go ahead with the experiment?

Hello, I would like to know how they reduce the size of the images and then, when the microSD cards are inserted into a card, they expand to fill the entire space. In other words, the same thing that Armbian images do when we use them for the first time: they are small, and then they occupy all the storage space.

I'm trying to build the linux-tools binaries from the kernel using the armbian build. I ran the ./compile.sh script and it built the image, but I only want the linux-tools binaries to copy over. I'm not sure how to get it to build them, when I go into the kernel tools folder and do "make all" it builds the binaries for x64 instead of for arm64. I looked through the kernel config file when running ./compile.sh script but can't find an option to build the linux-tools. I'm not sure how to add it so that they are built for the target system arm64.

Hi, there is almost 0 documentation how to update u-boot; where to flash (dd) it, if it does support boot from rootfs on ZFS etc. Regarding the ZFS; here I assume /boot has to be on ext4/vfat and rest of the rootfs (/) as ZFS to make it works? I have only had chance to try the Orange PI 2 image so far There are small issues I can find ,I don't know if their known: I cannot set resolution at all, its stuck on some low one. I make it work very good following many instructions found in web pages (like this: https://www.instructables.com/Orange-Pi-Zero-Connect-TFT-SPI-ST7735/). But now is not possible to find any image with this kernel in the official download page and, with the new kernel that method does not work when y try to use the modprobe fbtft_device. I've been looking for possible solutions in order to make it work but usually I fail because language is very technical, my knowledge about drivers is superficial and English is not my native language: …

Hello everyone, I urgently need help, as I am on the verge of throwing my Khadas out the window. I bought a used Khadas Vim3L HTPC Kit (S905D3) and want to use it for Navidrome and Audiobookshelf. The FLAC files are located on an external 2.5" WD Elements hard drive, first I intended to format this hard drive to ext4 and set it up in the setup process but it doesnt work and the first thing now is to setup the system,i will add the hd later. Currently, the Vim boots into CoreELEC (which appears to be installed on the internal storage of the vim). Im a total noob and thats my first vim / Board. I just can't seem to get it to work; no matter what I d…

Hi, I am having problem with overscan on orangepipc on my car display. https://goo.gl/photos/19v3Ji2cAUMsLwoV6 Left border is cropped by 32 pixels and bottom is cropped by 52px. Resolution is 800x480 configured with h3disp -m 31. I am outputing video using HDMI-to-VGA reduction and then I transform VGA signal to RGBS using two XOR gates (so the car display understand the signal). Running self-build Armbian with ubuntu xenail on legacy kernel (3.4.113-sun8i). I want to crop or scale my desktop so it will fit the screen. I tried so far xrandr --transform (it seems that it is not supported) set env in uboot to enable overscan_x and y (works only in ub…

I am experiencing frequent kernel panics with the RockPro64 board and assume it could be a power consumption issue with the SSD (PCIe NVMe M.2). I tested a variety of different SSDs, with the Cruzial P1 being the most reliable. Is it possible to manually throttle an SSD within Armbian, forcing it to consume less power? In my case, peak performance is not really important. This would allow me to further validate my thesis. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hi. I am trying to start an Armbian flashed image. It is the main on the download page (both Buster and Focal). The Fire3 is lighing the red led and the green one but the screen is frozen on the U-boot first row as shown in the image attached here. Nothing appens. I burned the image with BalenaEtcher and Unetbootin. In both cases all the two images in the download page of the Fire3 are showing the same row at boot time. The images provided by the FriendlyElec website are working normally so there is not, for me, an hardware issue. I am building a SBC rack and I would like to install Armbian for all the boards. Thanks and sorry if I duplicete the thread but here is not eas…

Hi all, I have a few orange pi zero's and recently on 2 I had an issue with wifi AP that I am trying to properly understand. I have read some of the discussion regarding the wifi chip on the opi0 and that's not a great chip. I thoroughly agree with people that say that if you pay bottom dollar for a board, don't expect top dollar performance. And especially don't come complaining on a public FOSS forum. The only thing I am trying to do is understand the error and see if there is anything I can do to improve it. I use my orange pi zero's with a basic (custom) armbian image that starts up with a wifi AP briefly, so I can ssh in and do some config. Afterward…

On Xenial A64 I added an entry for a LUKS partition into /etc/crypttab (after installing cryptsetup which added its stuff to uBoot). But at boot I don't get asked for a password If I add a timeout in crypttab, boot continues with a rescue console, if not it hangs forever. Other than that I have no clue what's going on, journalctl only shows "systemd-cryptsetup failed, status 1" obviously because no password was given. I also added dm-crypt to modules and called update-initramfs, but that didn't change anything

I don't know how to explain this, so I start with my hardware: Two Odroid HC1. I love swapping Kernels, default was 5.4.199 but that was "too old" because I like it bleeding edge. Did upgrade both to 5.17.5 and it works like a charm! Really good performance and some errors from dmesg disappeared too! However the problems did not wait for long: Kernel 5.19.x broke fstrim commands on my SATA drives so I rolled back, everything was good on 5.17.5 again. My logs showed TRIM was supported and running again, cheers! Now to the actual problem at hand and this might be my own doing. I froze the upgrades in armbian-config. Thinking this would prevent upgrading to the n…

NanoPC-T4 only has 16GRAM, which is still a bit small for daily use. So I want to put u-boot on emmc or sd card, and install the system on nvme solid state drive. If I want to realize this function, can the armbian-config tool help me realize it quickly? Or do I need to set u-boot parameters and compile by myself, thus installing the system in nvme SSD?

I am running bookworm on my Odroid HC4, upgraded from buster. USB stopped working, which I believe to be U-Boot related. So I am looking for a newer version of the U-Boot package "linux-u-boot-odroidhc4-current", which is at 26.2.1. I tried to change the apt sources to trixie and apt updated, but apt doesn't offer me a newer package. I am not so keen on compiling it myself, so is there a way of finding/downloading/installing a newer package...?

Not posting everything I've tried, just wanted to ask a question of people experienced with the H3. Does it really support slave I2S in the mainline kernel? I've seen it posted in multiple forums that it does, and the datasheet and user manual says it does, but I can not get it working. Has anyone seen this work in person? I had to hack up the sun4i-i2s.c driver around mclk / bclk generation to make it happy just to even try it, and confirmed that all register settings look good. But the DMA just doesn't seem to transfer data when in clock slave mode. It doesn't seem like any cpu using sun4i-i2s should work in clock slave mode.

Hello. I saw all topics about armbian on Q8, Q88 tablets, but some of them are dead with no success, some say, that it is working somehow for someone. I understand, that armbian more tended to be for boards, but come on! There is a huge pile of tablets, that uses same processors, memory, wifi and other chips, and there is a sun5i-a13-q8-tablet.dtb in /boot/dtb of an image of armbian. So, I compiled custom Armbian image using olinuxinoA13 configuration as there wasn't any for q8-tablet. Wrote or burned it with USB Image Writer (I'm on Linux Mint 19 Cinamon) on SD card, mounted it, edited ArmbianEnv.txt line disp_mode=800x480p60. Put SD in tablet, pushed on button... s…

armbian-ramlog & armbian-truncate-log are not executed due to an error parsing the XTRA_RSYNC_TO=(--delete) from /etc/default/armbian-ramlog This results in quick saturation of /var/log. Greetings everyone! I'm having some issues with my Armbian installation. I have an Orange Pi PC 2 (64 bit H5 SoC). I followed the procedure for installing Armbian on my Sd card (reliable one, recently bought as new) using Etcher (so errors won't occur). The SSH daemon works, nmap lists port 22 as open, yet whenever I try to ssh to root ("root@10.42.0.1", where 10.42.0.1 is the IP given by the shared wired network to this connection) even after I wait like 10 minutes or so, it doesn't work (Permission denied). Thing is I don't own a keyboard and a HDMI cable, or UART cable, so I went for this "headless" approach. I know it's possible, but SSH won't …

Hello all and I apologise for the rather long subject title there. A bit of a mouthful :-) I can understand how to create a .dts/.dtb file from an already running existing linux system on an arm based device. But what about if there is no linux image to run on it? Is it possible to take the device tree from an android device and then turn that into a .dts/.dtb file? Also am I correct in saying that pretty much the first thing that would be needed to boot any sort of linux on an arm device like this (R69 box) is a working .dts/.dtb file so it can boot? Case in point is my old R69 TV box. It always was and remains problematic in booting old thread but wa…

I could not reach resolve it, because there are many topics with many comment and the main tread explanation is lost. Please, can anyone, write a clear step by step procedure to do any of it?, Sorry and Regards, Pescadito

I have an old oDroid M1 that used to have Ubuntu 20 LTS installed on, but after it bricked itself during the install of Ubuntu 22 LTS, I decided to go looking for an alternative OS (it was also really sluggish). I got pointed to Armbian, and since it officially supports the M1, I gave it a go. Unfortunately, the instructions leave much to be desired. This part just doesn't seem to actually work: > Once booted, use armbian-install to write u-boot to MTD (SPI flash). This completely and irrevocably removes Petitboot, replacing it with mainline u-boot. All of the options that appear to be what it means by "write u-boot to MTD (SPI Flash…
