Dear friends! I have a project, where I needed to use 4 infrared receivers and 2 transmitters connected to GPIO. After a lot of research I realized how to cook all stuffs together: So I have Pine64 A64 512MB cards (not the plus model), running Armbian 20.05.0-trunk.038 nightly, (uname -r: 5.4.18-sunxi64). I needed to freeze upgrades for two reasons: Boot hangs up: The armbian thinks that I have the plus model: on every upgrade I need to replace the "sun50i-a64-pine64-plus.dtb" file with "sun50i-a64-pine64.dtb" at /boot/dtb/allwinner because the non-plus model (512MB) has different ethernet hardware. Missing gpio-ir-recv kernel module from stock A…

Hi, Wasn't sure where to start this as it's at-least potentially and partially off-topic regarding Armbian. First of all, thanks for what appears to be the best distro for the small ARM-soc devices, including the PINE64. I really appreciate all the work and houtrs that many people are dedicating to the project. Some history: The Logitech Squeezebox Touch was launched in April 2010) It has 4.3" colour touchscreen Connects to Logitech Media Server (LMS) through Ethernet or Wifi and plays songs stored there or from a wide range of internet sources. Supports 16- and 24-bit audio with a sampling rate of up to 96 kHz (or up to 192 kHz, enabled by us…

This is an old, original Pine64 Board w/ 1GB RAM. Armbian Version: 5.69 I am unable to get audio signal (output) from the Audio Jack. Tried normal headphone with 3 contacts, also tried headset with 4 contacts, BOTH fail to get audio out. Tried Stretch and also Ubuntu, no success... Does anybody succeed getting audio out from the onboard audio jack with Armbiam? If so, can you give a brief description of the procedure/steps and the soft(s) you are using? When using a external USB Audio adapter everything seems to work fine (connecting to the Adapter Audio Jack), so, I guess that from the point of view of…

After a fresh armbian installation + armbian-firmware-full package, the pine64 bluetooth doesn't work because the rtl8723bs_config-pine64.bin file is missing. I've downloaded the file from https://github.com/anarsoul/rtl8723bt-firmware/tree/master/rtl_bt into /lib/firmware/rtl_bt and it works so I've created a PR here https://github.com/armbian/firmware/pull/14 to add it to the firmware package so it can work out of the box. Let me know if I need to do something else for the PR to be merged. Thanks.

Hi all, I hope someone can help me with an annoying but not pressing eMMC boot problem. Recently I bought myself a Pin64 H64 3GB SBC and an 32GB eMMC module (actually ordered a 16GB but got a 32GB :-) ) I have a Waveshare 7" TFT touchscreen attached. SBC and Screen are powered either a 5V/3A PSU or a batterypack. Now the board boots fine and fast! from a Samsung EVO sd card .. no problems there, but I cannot get the board to boot from the eMMC module. What I have done so far: 1) Flash an Armbian Buster image to the eMMC (using a USB_eMMC converter) with Etcher on Linux Mint... Boot the board from eMMC WITHOUT…

Hi, Since I still couldn't find a enclosure for my Pine64 H64 model-B, I mocked up one myself using a Eur 6,50 Raspberry Pi 4 case. 1) From the USB/ETH connector side I cut out the sections in between the connectors since there is a small offset that pushes the Pine64 board aside when closing the case. 2) From one of the cover lulls, I cut out a section to fit over the IR sensor. 3) On the HDMI side I cut out the two ports holes of the RPI micro hdmi connections and I made a notch in the USB-C hole to fit the power connector of the Pine64. 4) Drilled a hole in the cover large enough for the WIFI/BT antenna connector, on the board,…

Hi guys, I am newbie, my monitor iiyama ProLite B2888UHSU is flickering random white lines on black screen. U-boot console was displayed correctly. Hello, I'm using a Pine 64 LTS with the SoPine image Armbian 21.02.3 Bionic with Linux 5.4.88-sunxi64 I have made various changes and installations to this image, so I want/need to continue using this image. Unfortunately, with the new hardware of the Pine 64 LTS (Pine64 LTS-V2) network connection is no longer possible. (Note: With the current SoPine image there is a network connection). Is there any way to reinstall the current network drivers in my image? I would be very grateful for any help.

Does anyone know where i can find linux headers for the LTS/Sopine, or an image that contains them? None of the images from the wiki seem contain the headers. I installed the Armbian legacy with 3.10.107 and was able to get Pine64 headers using apt-get install linux-headers-pine64 but they seem to be missing many files when i try to compile. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What's the current status of 5.30 on Pine64 mainline? I've a spare Pine64 lying around and was considering compiling latest Armbian for it to poke around a little, test things if that's useful to the dev effort. The downloads page lists support as experimental, but the version there is 5.27 and some of the info seems out of date, ie points to the wrong subforum, etc.

I have tried searching but there doesn't seem to be much info on PPS support. It is a standard part of modern kernels and should be pretty consistent. I have a device (a GPS) with its PPS output connected to the Pi2 bus pin 13 that corresponds to PH9 and during boot this appears to be configured as a new PPS source: [ 5.548061] pps pps0: new PPS source pps@0.-1 [ 5.548135] pps pps0: Registered IRQ 145 as PPS source /dev/pps0 is indeed created by udev…

I have Armbian up and running very nicely on the PineA64+ 2GB board. Thanks to the community! Speed concerns aside, is it possible to attach a SATA drive to this board? What would be the recommended way to do so? It is the availability of large storage capacity that we need for our project, not blazingly fast disk writes.

Hi, I have a pine64 with the official touch screen, currently running Xenial with legacy kernel. I followed the instructions to enable the touchscreen: Also starting with 5.24 Pine64’s own LCD with touchscreen support can simply be activated in /boot/armbianEnv.txt by setting pine64_lcd=on and adding gt9xxf_ts to /etc/modules followed by a reboot. which works fine. Preferably, I'd like to use a later kernel, as I'm not interested in any graphical HW acceleration but would like some of the other improvements in later kernels. When I tried the instructions with kernel 4.9, I couldn't find the gt9xxf_ts module. Is there any way of making this…

Hey Igor and fellow Armbian forum members! I have worked with Armbian on my OPi PC and used the rtl8192cu-fixed github replacement driver, and recently just edited /etc/modules to include 8192cu(btw apt-get upgrade breaks this). However on my Pine64, dmesg says: rtlwifi/rtl8192cufw.bin isn't available. I have tried manually placing the Debian .bin file into the proper /lib but haven't been able to get the wlan0 to show up under iwconfig(yea I have already enabled it in /etc/network/interfaces. lsusb and lsmod both show some entries for 8912cu. Thanks for any insight, and let's hope we can fix this so that people can use their wifi adapters soon .

I am currently using the Armbian 20.02 release and doing some tests with the serial ports of a Pine64-LTS board. I noticed that i could not get all the serial ports to work. Hello, today I made an upgrade of my pine64-mainline and failed miserably - my new armbian image won't boot any more. So I did some more tests with a new more different sd-cards, power supply and the mailine kernel form the download site (https://dl.armbian.com/pine64/Ubuntu_xenial_dev_nightly.7z): Again, the same behaviour, the image doesn't bott any more after "apt update" and "apt upgrade". I read in the documentation for the mainline kernel that the upper USB port is configured as OTG by default. After upgrading from 4.14.70-sunxi64 to 4.19.13-sunxi64 Pine64+ board started to misbehave after running for some time. I've got an Pine64 a that was one of the Kickstarter models. For a couple of years I've been running OctoPrint on it to run my Qidi i-mates 3d printer. Recently I decided to update from jammy to noble, before I did that I made a backup of my OctoPrint settings and files through the OctoPrint GUI in case of problems. I got a really messed inconsistent with all sorts of dependencies errors because the apt dist-upgrade seemed to freeze and after several hours of no movement I rebooted. As expected it was the mess. I spent about an hour on fixing dependencies but decided it just wasn't worth it as the only thing running is OctoPrint. When I went to restore OctoP…

Hi, Armbian gurus. I tried latest Armbian image for PineH64-b. (Armbian_20.11_Pineh64-b_focal_current_5.8.16_desktop) And I surprisingly found there is no audio device when I looked around.( by #aplay -l ) Is this expected for now? My older 5.6 kernel has HDMI device at least. I tried search audio problem around but had no discover so far. Please allow me to confirm with you. I'm looking for a good 5.8 multimedia-capable kernel to merge with my gentoo rootfs. Thank you.

After a recent (long overdue) update on my pine64 I found that pps-gpio was no longer working. Further investigation found that the default kernel configuration with 4.19.x no longer includes CONFIG_PPS_CLIENT_GPIO (nor CONFIG_PPS_CLIENT_LDISC). I'm running Octoprint on Orange Pi Zero 2 and Armbian 22.11.3 Bullseye with Linux 4.9.318-sun50iw9 (other than assorted added userspace software, it's stock Armbian, no recompiled kernel or anything like that). It works great - while it works. I successfully complete 30+-hour prints. I can connect, monitor, everything is fine and dandy. When I'm connected to Octoprint from PC, monitoring of the 3D printer enabled, even without printing anything, it works ok. But if I'm not connected, and the printer is doing nothing for a prolonged time (an hour or so?), it stops working. Probably goes to sleep - stops responding to any network communication. Since it's a fully headless s…

I have a feeling this was caused by a p[roblem with the definition of ftdfile variable: line from boot.cmd: load ${devtype} 0 ${fdt_addr_r} ${prefix}dtb/allwinner/${fdtfile} from the serial output: File not found /boot/dtb/allwinner/allwinner/sun50i-a64-pine64-plus.dtb ** note the duplication of Allwinner. Since I couldn't find where it was defined , I just copied the allwinner directory into itself.....:-) which fixed the problem. Perhaps someone could look into this? thanks.

I'm hesitant to post this here, because I am not really sure that this is an armbian issue to begin with. But I'm somewhat stumped. During the build process I configured the kernel to enable real time threads. CONFIG_NO_HZ_COMMON=y CONFIG_HZ_1000=y CONFIG_HZ=1000 CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT=y However, as I started to migrate my development I discovered I couldn't create a real time thread. So I pulled down areal time test suite (https://wiki.linuxfoundation.org/realtime/documentation/howto/tools/rt-tests) And confirmed it has the same issue: Unable to change scheduling policy! either run as root or join realtime group I am …

There was a huge thread a year ago about enabling SPI on Pine64, but it seemed to sometimes apply to longsleep generated kernel vs what I would think would be an out-of-the box build for Pine64 using the Armbian configuration. It wasn't clear to me exactly what needed to be done with today's build configuration, if anything. My ultimate goal is to integrate the IndustrialBerry ENC28J60 dual ethernet port card with Pine64. http://www.industrialberry.com/ethernetberry-v-1-1/ They have a recipe for RaspPi. I'm hoping there might be a similar type of recipe geared to the Pine64. Using the Armbian configurator, I insured the SPI bits were enabled (…

A while back I tried the more recent kernels (non-legacy) and noticed these issues. Back then I didn't have the possibility to investigate further and I just ended up forcing the kernel back to old legacy kernel. This time around I have the time to actually troubleshoot more, so here we go. When I last updated everything, the kernel got updated from 6.1.104-legacy-sunxi64 to 6.6.75-legacy-sunxi64, the immediate thing I noticed was that the WLAN did get detected. There is a thread about missing wifi with a linked PR, but either that fix hasn't landed in the 6.6.x kernel or something else is wrong. The other issue is that the 6.6.x kernel seems to be…

Hello, I am looking for a specific legacy image for the Orange Pi Zero 2W: Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Kernel 5.10.160. The reason I need this specific version is to use the device as a USB UVC (Webcam) gadget via ConfigFS. On the newer 6.6/6.12 mainline kernels, I am facing a "Permission Denied" error when trying to write to hHeight, even as root. After researching, it seems this is a known kernel-level restriction in newer versions, and the legacy 5.10 kernel is the most stable for UVC gadget functionality. I’ve checked the current archive mirrors but could only find the 6.6.x versions. Could anyone provide an official archive or a reliable mirror link …

Hi, Thank you all for so much work to fully implement the mainline kernel for the Pine64! So much is now working out-of-the-box with armbian, that there is no need to use the legacy version based on kernel 3.10. Not sure if this has been reported - the usual way of enabling spi overaly "overlays=spi-spidev and param_spidev_spi_bus=x" seems to be broken and when an overlay fails at boot time, it tries to load the base dtb from /.../alllwinner/allwinner/*, note the extra allwinner in the path - so it fails. The pin definitions for the Euler SPI are wrong. When you manage to get both SPIs up. SPI 0 is being enabled as spi1.0 and SPI 1 being enabled as spi0.0. It also fails to merge board neutral ili9341 SPI definition files (at boot time) that has always worked on H3 and H5 boards. To work around for now, use the following ( spi0.dts, spi1.dts) to get the spidev's up …

Hello. I am taking the task of organizing and performing the BTT Pi and CB1 support update. The plan is to use mainline kernel 6.6 and 6.8 (basically the default sunxi64 config) instead of the BTT fork and use patches to backport kernel patches for drivers and hardware support. The Jira issue is AR-2312, which is a collection of things that will need to be done for this initiative. @Gunjan Gupta @c0rnelius @ag123 @jernej @ALIGMSTEN I'm asking for your help on this, as Igor has said to me that you are more knowledgeable on the state of the board and what it needs. From what I've found, there has been a PR that upgraded the kernel used for BTT CB1 to 6.1.79 using patch…

Hi, Thanks to the hard work of your team, the Pine64-plus touchscreen now works great with the mainline kernel and legacy images are no longer listed in the download options, but it looks like some of the instructions at https://www.armbian.com/pine64/ are still referring to the "old way" of doing things: ie: Pine64’s own LCD with touchscreen support can simply be activated in /boot/armbianEnv.txt by setting pine64_lcd=on and adding gt9xxf_ts to /etc/modules followed by a reboot. The LCD screen is now activated by manipulating the DT overlays, which can even be done from armbian-config - hardware, and the touchscreen module is…

As other people have noted, there are issues trying to connect the CB1 to wifi after the first boot. I believe I've narrowed down the cause, but I'm not sure about the right way to fix it permanently. The issue I was experiencing is as follows: 1. Flash latest armbian minimal to sd card 2. Plug into CB1 and turn it on 3. Go through first boot setup and connect to wifi normally 4. Reboot CB1 5. CB1 no longer connects to wifi, wpa_cli says 'CTRL_EVENT_SCAN_FAILED' A temporary solution I found is to mask systemd-networkd, then manually unmask systemd-networkd and start it after booting. This suggests that the problem is that systemd-net…

Hi everyone. Tried stable and experimental builds. Also build my own image. All 6.x kernels don't seem to have a working wifi on this board. Tried modprobe brcmfmac without any luck - module loads but no wlan0 comes up. The board to my understanding has CYW43455 chip (from Cypress). Apparently there are several variations of BPI M4 Zero. The only image that has working wifi is from BPI website but it's a backports build with 5.4 kernel, so fairly old and outdated (running an upgrade makes the board unbootable). Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I've been having some issues with the official CB1 image on github provided by BTT. Namely, I'm having CAN issues with bytes_invalid increasing during printing operation which is exacerbated once I add more than 1 CAN device. Hi everyone! I'm trying to build my own distribution for the Pine64, and I use armbian as a working reference. I'm able to compile ATF + U-boot + Kernel + rootfs and the board actually boots and I get a console over the serial interface and over HDMI. The problem is that GbE Ethernet does not work. It appears that the 8211 phy is not powered. The good guys on the pine64 IRC pointed to the ATF, where the DC1SW regulator should be turned on in order to power the phy. On armbian everything works just fine. I think I messed up something in the build - wrong version / config / dts in either ATF, U-boot or the linux kernel. …

Hi all, I've read on the forum that support for usb gadget using the µ-usb port on the libre computer tritium needed a kernel reconfigure & recompile. I tried to start with that, but during configuration, I've seen full support already. So, was it supposed to just work ? I target armbian buster server variant. my need is to use IP over an usb (and power) cable between a linux machine (x86 and then arm) and a tritium h5 Thanks in advance

Using legacy Xenial image on pine64, I found that VPN server could not be executed due to the lack of PPP and IPSEC kernel options and probably other modules. Could be enabled on future releases ? Best regards, Gustavo.

Hi, I really apologise if the information is out there and I just haven't found it. I was looking to buy a board for a small embedded GUI application and this one seems to fit the bill. I would like to use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HDMI. Is there a list of what is working or not working on each build/version? (This is probably a more general question to Armbian for any device) The only thing I could find is this: But it's not that recent. On the download page: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2/ under specifications it does list, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi but I'm not sure if this means its now working? …

Is somebody working on it? How one could help to make it working? I am asking because I am a little bit confused because of this This topic is more than 2 years old but I see no update.
