Looks like a cool device, but I haven't found mention if it in the forum and it's not in the downloads section ... Will the Orange Pi i96 be included as a target device? And will the on-board WiFi be a disaster like the Orange Pi Zero on-board WiFI, or is it possible the i96 on-board WiFi will be usable? I really hope they learned from the zero an…

I am facing overheating problem ad yes I need to apply heat sink etc to solve the issue however since my requirement is not processor intensive (read 48 byte data over UART every 100-200ms and send it over WiFi), I am wondering if I can reduce CPU speed in software to avoid overheating. Any help/expert advice is appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

Also el-cheapo shops like lightinthebox sell the C270. Benefit of such a cam is that you now have a cable from your SBC to your cam which makes (physical) cam installation easier IMHO. Also IMHO the C270 is a better camera than the famous GC2035, but it is also more expensive. Price / 'bang for the buck' ratio is more or less the same for both camera’s if you ask me. You get what you pay for. Enough talk now: the installation All I did was a fresh Armbian desktop v5.20 …

  51. I have been having some long running, on and off discussion with @lanefu in IRC (and elsewhere), because I know this is his area of expertise. However he is busy, and I can appreciate he might not want to spend his free time talking about stuff he gets paid to do M-F. Then I also realized, certainly I am not the only one interested in Armbian in order to be doing such things. So I thought I would make a thread about this, instead, to open the discussion to a larger group people here in the broader community. I have my own thoughts, concerns, things I want to do, and have already done, but I thought I would make a more general thread where like …

I would like to create an ubuntu desktop image for a rk3066-based dongle (measy u2a). Is there anything in this website where start from? Or something ready-to-try? Will the docs here be helpful? I managed to run armbian on a measy u1a (which has a Allwinner A10) by simply flashing sdcard with an image (Lime A10) found here, I would like to do the same with rk3066. Thanks, Antonio

And also renegade single board from libre computers based on Rockchip RK 3328 the same as rock64. Both cpu's are supported in other boards so it will be easer.

Hi, Just joined to say thanks to all to those that are involved in the development of Armbian. I recently bought an Orange Pi PC after reading the internet full of people bitching about non-booting devices, HDMI issues, overheating and general crapness. Decided to buy a Orange Pi PC nonetheless, found an old crap micro SD card, burnt Armbian (the internet has made it clear to not bother with the crap on the official Orange Pi website!) onto it and the thing booted without any issues! Typing this message from it as we speak in Iceweasel! The thing only cost me 9 quid, so decided to donate what I would have wasted in cash on a Raspberry Pi 3 (which is anything b…

At FOSDEM 2020, in roughly a few days (at 2pm, Sunday 2nd of Feb, Brussels time), there will be a livestreamed explanation given of the “FOSDEM Video Box” HDMI capturing devices. They use almost 60 of these ARM-based devices during the FOSDEM conference to capture both the video output of all presenters laptops, and the video and audio of the camera filming of the presenter. Serious video hackery accomplishes this. I would encourage anyone interested to check out the bio of Luc Verhaegen, one of the presenters. Using these "Video Boxes", FOSDEM inexpensively streams 720p videos of all 800+ presentations! This is a small m…

In the course of my research I tried VNC Connect by RealVNC, TeamViever, AnyDesk and Google Chrome Remote Desktop. And found neither one working on Armbian. The question is: Is there a way to temporarily access the root filesystem from python script ? Of course, I can temporarily deactivate protection by ‘overlayroot-chroot’ command from terminal and make changes, but that's not what I mean. I have a web server application written in a flask framework. On one of its pages, users can set network parameters, e.g. IP, mask, dns . Is it possible at all, eg when the user accepts changes to disable protection, save changes to root filesystem and immediately enable protection ?

Java Periphery is a high performance library for GPIO, LED, PWM, SPI, I2C, MMIO and Serial peripheral I/O interface access in userspace Linux. Rather than try to build this from scratch I used c-periphery and HawtJNI to generate the JNI wrappers. This saves a lot of hand coding and allows for easier synchronization with c-periphery changes moving forward. I believe this is the only userspace IO library that supports the new JDK 17 LTS (and still supports JDK 11). I had to fork HawtJNI to make it work with JDK 17. The only caveat is that ARM32 supports JDK 11. For some reason I cannot find a JDK 17 for ARM32 or information on why is was not supported. The insta…
