Armbian Legacy 5.56 Kernel 3.10 boots and installs to the eMMC (as long as ext2fs is picked). Armbian Dev 5.56 Kernel 4.19 does not boot from the SD Card at all (power LED and black screen). I don't have the serial console adapter (yet) so I don't know if there is something useful there.

I have 1 "Customised Olimex Lime A20 SBC with RTL-SDR chip installed in the board (AirNav XRANGE). Currently the OS I'm using is the Lime A20 Armbian Stretch 4.14.84, everything is works fine except for the 2 GPIO LED. I have no idea how to let it work. I have the edited "sun7i-a20-olinuxino-lime.dtb" from Armbian Jessie 4.11.5 which is mainly for the board. May I know is there a way to incorporated the "Armbian Jessie 4.11.5's sun7i-a20-olinuxino-lime.dtb into the A20 Armbian Stretch 4.14.84 so that the 2 LEDs will work again? The edited dtc for LEDs to work "sun7i-a20-olinuxino-lime.dtb" attached. Hope to get so…

Greetings all, See my last post in thread for method I found to get around issues. EDIT: This may be limited to is an apt issue DNS seems ok after all. Use nmtui to edit network config not armbian-config None of what follows should be taken as complaining. I am only trying to get some help, give some observations from a non-expert viewpoint and possibly help ID a bug. Not being an expert, I am looking for confirmation. I am trying to get the NanoPi NEO core-2 LTS set up and am having some issues with apt. I haven't gone past that because the first thing after getting properly booting install (for me anyway) is to install webmin…

hello dear all, good day dear Armbian-experts recently i have managed to get Armbian up and running on a Banana Pi. I was very very glad. now i am digging deeper into the system and try to learn all the necessary things. regarding another system: on orange pi -pc i want to install armbian - from this page https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ i fetch Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y Server or light desktop usage scenarios. Stable question: can i upgrade after the installation the system to the newest kernel... ?!? Is this possible?

For days now I have been fighting to get this thing working. No boot, No hdmi, no sound, no wireless network and so on. Armbian is anyway the best choice for this device, Supported? well yes if you have lan, true HDMI Well i got it to boot, after writing a new image to sd card. finally booted, no signal detected ( with a DVI > HDMI ), I had to hook it up to a true HDMI and modify the script.bin file to get a signal. Got it to boot all the way to the desktop. Hurray ! Plugged in a crappy wifi adapter from Ali express (realtek 8081 i think it is) and I got wifi, jippi. Next time booting no wifi, no matter what I tried. Made a new image again, with modi…

I'm running an updated armbian stretch mainline on a nanopi neo and hitting a wall where I thought there would be no obstacles in my path. I'm using 433Mhx Tx and Rx devices so I'm building WiringNP (from FriendlyArm) and rfoutlet (from github.com/timleland/rfoutlet.git). I'm getting errors such as wiringPi ISR: Not implemented when running RFSniffer. [This is the current error, it's been one after another]. My mind is muddled at the moment since I've done this kind of thing several times in the past on other devices including the Orange Pi Zero. Can someone tell me if this is me, or if it's a NanoPi Neo-thing? Shouldn't this be straight-forwa…

Hi all, i am completely new to armbian and to be honest not yet completely convinced to change from bananian even that the time should have come. Until now, on my Bananapi M1, bananian was running without any problems. A few days ago, i tried to get familiar to armbian (debian stretch) for the first time on a test-SD-card. Now my problem: Since these tests, i am not able anymore to shutdown my running bananian-system to power off. The system seems to halt, but the power is not turned off and a few seconds later the Bananapi restarts. The problem remains even on a clear bananian1604-image. But: On the testSD-card under armbian the shutdown comm…

Preamble: I have done numerous hours of reading and searching (due diligence). See end. I have a FA NanoPi NEO Core-2 LTS with shield and 64G M.2 (This shield uses JMS567-LGBB1A chip USB to sata for M.2 access). I have successfully installed Armbian from SD to and booted from the eMMC. I had an annoying issue with the WiFi of this board with Armbian 5.65 Ubuntu and Stretch. Sometimes it would spontaneous lose its WiFi connection. After researching it for a while I noticed that the wlan0 interface sometimes lost it's IP address. At first I thought it had something to do with the DHCP lease or sleep mode of the adapter. I just couldn't get my head around it and I ended up removing network-manager and going back to creating an interfaces.conf file for setting up my network interfaces. Somehow this solved the issue, the WiFi connection hasn't failed since! To do this, first create the wpa supplicant configuration file: ~# …

Hi all, I've come upon a weird thing and I wanted to verify that I don't so something wrong. I've build a custom kernel module which is a PWM led device with an SPI interface. If I use the spidev, then everything works fine and I'm able to control the led. But when I'm using a custom device-tree and load the module then when I'm calling the `spi_write()` function then I'm getting an error (-22). The external device is actually an arduino nano that implements an I2C IIO light measurement device, using a dual light dependent resistor. Also I'm using the SPI channel to drive a led using PWM. It's very straight-forward a…

Hello Maybe it will help someone. I lost a lot of time trying to connect 1-wire to Cubieboard2 via DVK 522 (it has DS18B20 connection on PB10 /gpio 66/ with external pullup). Hello All, I have configured OrangePiR1 as router. There are three network interfaces, two as wired and one wifi(hotspot). eth0 serve for access to internet(via ppp/adsl) and eth1+Wlan0 for internal network. Interfaces eth1 and wlan0 are in bridge br0. Problem is, that interface eth1 sometimes loses connection/link(cable and switch were checked ). Next nonstandard behavior of eth1 is, that only yellow led control is blinking, while green led control is not alight. Network interfaces were configured via file /etc/network/interfaces. However, when I checked network manager nmcli, I saw, that some connections are configured there too (there can …

I am trying to set up a Orange Pi Zero to use as a small NAT/ Bridge Device. I want to use an Android phone in USB tether mode to give its 4g connection to an interface on the opi zero then use a network bridge to join the 4g connection to the lan port, also the opi zero is gonna run a small section of code on the USB interface that changes the TTL of all packets through the interface. On my linux mint box the script looks like pkexec sysctl net.ipv4.ip_default_ttl=65 && echo 65 | pkexec tee /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_default_ttl but i am running into issues with the very first part, that is getting my phone native USB tether to be recognized as an interface in …

Is there a way to run netflix yet? Does Chromium run well and able to run netflix? Appears this doesn't matter, because Chromium doesn't work with netflix anymore... Hello guys, soon I will receive this nice toy (512MB) and I want to be prepared for my project: a domestic vpn server (using pptp) serving 1 o 2 guests at most. For this project I just need the RJ45 socket thus I would like to switch off as much as possible (e.g. GPU, on board wifi and others if there). Someone can point me to some resources or list what I can do to accomplish this? P.S. I know that pptp is not as secure as IPSec (and maybe IPSec is heavier for such device) but for the purpose of my project it is enough. Thanks a lot Gianni

Hi All, I am working on project using Qt(IDE), C++(language) and opencv libraries. The board I am using is Olimex Olinux A64. In the project I have a GUI that displays the input from a camera and has various status indicator labels. These labels indicate various states the system is in at any particular instance of time. I load different images in the labels to indicate different states. As of now the trigger to change the image of a label comes from soft buttons written in c++ using the Qt buttons layout. I am trying to find a way to control the change of images in the labels using hardware buttons that are connected to the GPIOs of the A64 board. Cou…

Hi all! I have an Olimex Olinuxino-Lime2-4GB A10 cpu based dev board and I have installed Armbian on an SD card. Everything works fine, except when trying to compile some drivers for the wifi dongle that I want to use. The dongle has an RTL8188CUS chip, and I also have another dongle with an RTL8192CU chip, and when following the instructions found here the compilation fails, because of the kernel headers missing. The instructions work fine on other distributions. Could someone help me figure out how to successfully compile the drivers? Where can I get the kernel headers? I really need these drivers for my project.

The orange pi zero has a USB OTG interface, which can be used to interact with it in the absence of networks and spare USB-UART converters. This is not enabled by default in the Armbian image. Here I describe how to modify the system image before first boot to enable this. First, mount the freshly written SD card on a linux computer, become root, and change directory to the mount point, that is, the root directory of the SD card. The following couple of steps were taken from https://oshlab.com/enable-g_serial-usb-otg-console-orange-pi-armbian/which describes how to enable this in a live system, i.e. after first boot. The steps are modified to work on the moun…

Because today I did get my Black-Friday NanoPi Neo2 LTS 1GB I swapped my old Neo2 against this new 1Gb LTS-version. After assembling the new LTS to the fresh heatsink I did a testdrive and all went fine (network etc). So I did try to put the faceplate back on the case but it doenst fit. At the time when I did buy the case there was also a faceplate for the normal H3 Neo delivered. So for the new LTS Neo2 I had to use the faceplate for the H3-Neo, because the new LTS Neo2 has the USB-Port aligned like the H3-Neo . The old Neo2 has his USB-Port (on the main Neo2-PCB) a bit shifted against the Network-port. Also the new LTS …

Hi all, I'm puzzled how everybody is building clusters of cheap SBC's, but nobody is implementing HA, redundancy, resiliency, failover, etc. They're just SBC's networked together. The SBC's are underprovisioned for Ceph, so I think that even if a Ceph configuration was managed to be shoehorned in, it wouldn't perform well. I don't know if DRDB is an option. How are people actually doing implementing real clustering technology on Orange Pi, for example? I'm using OPi+2E. Kind regards, Andrew

Hello, I want to use Armbian on a Cubietruck with an Onyx Boox Max 2 ebook reader (HDMI port) as display. I tested Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y and Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y. But with both systems I get a black screen. I use the serial console to access the cubietruck. When I plug in the HDMI cable I get following info on Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y: <6>EDID version: 1.3 <6>PCLK=125000000 X 2104 2244 2284 2384 Y 1560 1565 1570 1590 fr 32 NP <6>Using above mode as preferred EDID mode <6>PCLK=125000000 X 2104 2244 2284 2384 Y 1560 1565 1570 1590 fr 32 NP <4>Unimplemented SV…

Hello, I have owned the Orange Pi PC for quite a while now, but I have been unable to solve a problem. The problem is that I can never quite manage to get the GPU drivers to work perfectly. They will often crash when using certain software like Chromium. Here is what I have tried doing so far: - Build and install the helper modules (libdri2,libump) - Installing the sunxi-mali driver - Building the video driver (xf86-video-fbturbo) - Build glshim -- Doing the following does not seem to have an effect on glxgears -- - Update arm-linux-gnueabihf configuration <-- Doing this breaks certain applications and gam…

Hi! I've been using Armbian on my a20 olinuxino lime2 board without issues for over a year now. Yesterday i decided to reflash the installation image onto the SD board. I've tried to flash it to different SD cards using the same method (SD card formatter + etcher), all of them booted but the SSH server always refuses the connection. Are there any workarounds to this?

I wouldn't ask for help here if I could find enough information to solve my problem. My program takes user-space GPIO interrupts as signals. It depends on this feature and GPIO interrupts are not replaceable. Testing code is as follows (on Pin12/PA07/GPIO7) by using SysfsGPIO: echo 7 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo in > /sys/class/gpio/gpio7/direction echo falling > /sys/class/gpio/gpio7/edge Check if it works with command `cat /proc/interrupts`: watch -n3 "cat /proc/interrupts | grep sunxi_pio" After configuration, give GPIO7 a pulse by attaching it to 3V3. This method does works on Orange Pi 0+ H5 running Ar…

Hello! In order to compile software on my Banana Pi running Armbian 5.27 Debian 8, I started off uncommenting the "# deb-src" lines in /etc/apt/sources.list and then ran apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. The start screen in the shell would then ask me to reboot as the kernel was updated. But after the reboot there was no AppleTalk anymore to serve my old devices. Compiling a newer Armbian with an up-to-date version of Debian is of no use to me as I run software (A2SERVER) that is incompatible with newer systems. So how can I upgrade my system without loosing AppleTalk (which I configured as a kernel module when compiling two years ago)? …

Hi Dear Friends! I'm having trouble using the onboard analog soundcard from my OrangePi Zero +. I already enabled analog-in in armbian-config, but when I try to run some application that uses the sound card, it has an error. I have an Orange Pi PC Plus running the mainline Debian Stretch desktop version of Armbian, but lately I've been using it headless. When I'm logged in over ssh and shutdown it down using "sudo shutdown -h now", the ssh connection drops and the board's LED flashes then shuts off, giving every indication the board is off. However, power consumption doubles (increasing from ~1.2W to ~2.4 W)! The problem persists as long as the board is powered, so I presume the board is hung and never fully shutdown. Any thoughts as to what could be causing the board to hang when shutting down?

Hi to all, i´d try to setup a Banana PI M1 as AppleTalk Printserver because my old LaserWriter 4/600 only got a LocalTalk Interface. But the Kernel didn´t support AppleTalk, i compiled it in myself successfully. After i installed Netatalk 2.2.5 and do a nbplkup, the Bpi answers: bananapi:netatalk 65280.79:4 bananapi:Workstation 65280.79:4 No Printer, no Bridge. I think, the buildin Eth0 dont route AppleTalk Pakets. I tryed Bananian, armbian and strech without success. So, what shall i do? Hallmackenreuther

Hello everyone. My OP-PC is dead, with NO HDMI signal, NO console output, NO network output (LEDs off), only 1 LED is on which indicates SD card inserted (if SD card removes, it off). when use newly created SD card with Armbian, SDcard OS partition not resized. when connect to power supply, I can hear current noise. before it dies, it runs armbian server image with mainline kernel (4.14), it doesn't look like thermal fail, due to it runs very well during summer. I guess it is shorted some place, but I can't find where! so which hardware test point could I use to detects hardware failurtes.

My Cubieboard 2 absolutely refuses to boot from microSD. It will boot into Android from flash when there is no microSD card inserted, but with a card in, it just produces a single red LED and no video output. Eventually it will respond by flashing green and powering down when the power button is depressed, so I feel like it's getting somewhere, but those are the only signs of life. I don't know how to look at serial output from this machine. I've tried two different power supplies, and two different monitors because one had I think been dodgy with this machine before.
